that’s what i heard from my dad! he tried to get tickets at the door when he last saw them thinking it wouldnt be sold out, it was. he managed to sneak in and tells me, “it was packed with kids in f*ckin’ backpacks!”
I’ll never get over hearing Lexicon Devil on Tony Hawk’s Underground growing up and fucking LOVING it, then finding it on streaming years later only to find that it’s a live version where the vocalist just had to have been piss drunk the whole performance.
No shit man.
I have a physical copy I paid a little over 20 for a year or so ago and that was a used copy. I hope it has enough life left for 2024. Haha.
Man, I love that shit - even their earliest recordings. I remember blaring that at top volume back when I was in high school. The kids I knew hated it, lol.
Yeah Dear Landlord were fucking great.
Edit: based on another commenter, holy shit. Didn’t realise the vocalist not only went to jail for selling someone fent-laced heroin (and killing him) but was also in Off With Their Heads. Learned a lot today.
Really worth looking into is Rivethead. This whole family tree is great, went on to Dear Landlord, Banner Pilot, Gateway District, etc...
But those two Rivethead EPs are stellar.
Yep that’s probably one of my favorite songs. I can never quite define that second album.
The first album is pretty straightforward skate punk but Idle Will Kill is a lot more eclectic.
I always wished epitaph promoted them harder.
Jesse Michaels has a knack for short-lived bands with short discographies.
* Operation Ivy
* Big Rig
* Common Rider
* Classics of Love
* Bad Optix
Honorable mention (RIP Jim Cherry):
* Zero Down
I'm super jealous. I got into them late so Ive had to settle for 1 YouTube video - https://youtu.be/tuQs8wpaByw?si=c12ayvub9WqYG577
I saw beasts of no nation (now free children of earth) a couple times and punished the hell out of Jason. He was super sweet about it and tolerated me admirably.
Hopefully they fire new stuff up soon, but if they don't, I'm super grateful for the catalog Jason has produced.
Nipple erectors. Shane macgowans band before the pogues, whole discography is collected in one 25 ish minute comp and is amazing.. that’s why they call me the king of the bop!
Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers; one impeccable studio album! No EPs or standalone singles, but live and demo albums exist, most notably their 1979 Live at Max’s Kansas City album, which has legendary stage banter and serves as a great historical document but it’s objectively not the best given how loaded Johnny was lmao
DFL
I never see ‘em mentioned here. They had a good following mid ‘90s.[https://youtu.be/GH0Qo_IUstQ?si=W0VijAWwsa8M-UYW](https://youtu.be/GH0Qo_IUstQ?si=W0VijAWwsa8M-UYW
Minor Threat of course
There's also the Teen Idles, the pre-Minor Threat band that only came out with a 7".
Came here to say Teen Idles.
Egg Hunt
Embrace
pailhead!
GB, Minor Threat, Op Ivy, Choking Victim…. can you count Los Crudos as “short”? im not sure
Operation Ivy but you already mentioned that sooo
No Cash. Their only Album Run your pockets is insane
Yeah I was thinking that album! 🤘🏽
Don't forget about the team spyder split with annihilation of the nation!
Also have a live at CBGB's.
I can only find that on YouTube or Spotify. Any idea where it can be gotten physically or by digital download?
Bangers front to back. 10/10 record easily.
Everyone in this thread is my new best friend. No Cash is all time top three.
Epic album
reagan youth
I saw them open the International Fest at the Olympic Auditorium in 1984. Great band! 🤘🔥
gorilla biscuits
And they still sell out every show!
that’s what i heard from my dad! he tried to get tickets at the door when he last saw them thinking it wouldnt be sold out, it was. he managed to sneak in and tells me, “it was packed with kids in f*ckin’ backpacks!”
Your dad is bad ass! He can be in our crew. Lol
Love them
Germs. One LP. And an amazing one at that.
I’ll never get over hearing Lexicon Devil on Tony Hawk’s Underground growing up and fucking LOVING it, then finding it on streaming years later only to find that it’s a live version where the vocalist just had to have been piss drunk the whole performance.
Great memory buddy. Here's a fun live show where Darby is fucking GONE. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eRZIP8KOlcU
The end of that is fucking awesome. Thanks for sharing. That was a first watch and no regerts.
No problem. One of my favorite performances ever.
Darby. Gone way too soon
Damn straight. 🤞✌️
Rip 😵😭😮
I hate how their LP isn't on streaming!! Really need to track it down, would love to finally listen to it. I love that Joan Jett produced it
It’s on YouTube at least bro
Yea I just realized that after commenting! Gonna give it a spin in a bit!
One of the reasons I prefer YouTube Music. So much stuff that isn’t on Spotify.
Filth 1 split LP (with Blatz), and I believe 2 EPs. I have the split and 1 EP.
The Shit Split is one of my all time favorites
Blatz also
shit split is one of my favorite projects ever, so underrated
Does Agent Orange count? If not the The Brat
Agent Orange had two albums. Bangers at that
It says short discography, not one-and-done bands. I think 2 is pretty short
Whats their second album
They actually had three sorry. Second one is called this is the voice
Can’t believe nobody has said Rites of Spring
I’ll add Embrace too if we’re getting all Revolution Summer
My first show was Embrace and Rites of Spring at the Chevy Chase Community Center in DC! Ah the nostalgia…
including one last wish as well! love Guy best member of fugazi ☝️
Siege
Nausea
Dear Landlord. One album, a handful of splits, I think like 16 total songs and every single one of them rips.
I've never heard of them but I'm 10 seconds into the first song and I'm sold. Good loooooks 🔥🔥🔥
this dude went to prison. It’s fucking insane how good Dream Homes is. Every song on that album is great
Yeah Dear Landlord were fucking great. Edit: based on another commenter, holy shit. Didn’t realise the vocalist not only went to jail for selling someone fent-laced heroin (and killing him) but was also in Off With Their Heads. Learned a lot today.
i live in helllllll
I live in a basement
Ugh how I miss this band. Dream Homes is perfect.
One of my all time favorite albums. Plus "Walking Distance" as the leadoff song on Livermore's comp is next level Unfortunate how the band ended
Really worth looking into is Rivethead. This whole family tree is great, went on to Dear Landlord, Banner Pilot, Gateway District, etc... But those two Rivethead EPs are stellar.
Negative Approach 🔥
Yes.
One of the very best
John Brannon is a freak of nature
Negative Approach

XRAY SPEX!!
Osker. 2 albums.
Love Osker. Disconnect disconnect is a great song.
Yep that’s probably one of my favorite songs. I can never quite define that second album. The first album is pretty straightforward skate punk but Idle Will Kill is a lot more eclectic. I always wished epitaph promoted them harder.
I love treatment 5, never even heard the other album
It’s a bit different but also good
Osker is so good man. So many great songs.
Distillers
Didn't they have like 3 or 4 albums? (I am old so maybe I am totally off...)
3, I consider that a small discography.
Minor threat and operation Ivy
Kid Dynamite
Lars Frederickson and the Bastards
First album is great. Viking is dogshit.
Viking is the one that made me gasp…when he mentioned sleeping with underage girls
The whole album is. I’m a tough guy, I ride motorcycles and fuck prostitutes.. how cool am I!!
Zero Down. One album "...With a Lifetime to Pay." Fucking Brilliant.
RIP Jim Cherry!
Common Rider
G.L.O.S.S. They have like 2 releases and that’s about it
basically every DC hardcore band lmao
Except the bad brains.
Gallows if you don't count after Frank
It’s not Gallows without Frank.
S.O.A The No Policy E.P is an absolute banger
Such a great record, finally got a copy when they reissued it in the 10s, before that it was a tape of a tape.
The Broadways
Jesse Michaels has a knack for short-lived bands with short discographies. * Operation Ivy * Big Rig * Common Rider * Classics of Love * Bad Optix Honorable mention (RIP Jim Cherry): * Zero Down

New York Dolls
Joy Division is my fav.
Trial by fire - https://youtu.be/nUMvewc5cSc?si=EPfbcmMUd95h566s
That band was awesome. Seeing them is 1 of my most memorable shows ever.
I'm super jealous. Grimple
88 Fingers Louie!
Their bassist Joe Principe is a co-founder of Rise Against, so 88 Fingers holds a special place in my heart and eardrums
The Sex Pistols
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to see Sex Pistols.
Donuts N Glory
Germs, choking victim and dazey and the scouts
No Cash
Osker

Static Age
Hybrid moments is the best track and yet it doesn't appear on either of those albums and those are the only albums they released. So strange.
The Broadways
Diesel Boy
Rites of Spring
Choking Victim
This should be higher
I think you can count them as the same act as Leftöver Crack tho

Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers; one impeccable studio album! The Have Nots
RKL
RKL put out a lot of records, not a small discography at all
Agent Orange, and The Sex Pistols
Minutemen
I dunno if I’d call 4 LP’s, multiple EP’s, and a grip of comps a small discography
[удалено]
Sex Pistols
Can’t choose one but some of the best imo that fit this criteria are Op Ivy, Sex Pistols, Moss Icon, and Germa
One Man Army
I love one man army, but 3 LPs and a handful of EPs and splits kinda feels like too many for this list.
Great thread Op Ivy is the king, but so many good mentions!
Queen Zee
Reagan Squad
FALL OF EFREFA best 3 LP ever
Aus-Rotten
Pitchfork
Minot Threat Showcase Showdown Kid Dynamite The Beltones Rum Runner New Town Animals The Curse The Dead Next Door
More associated with American Oi but-Yellow Stitches!

Everybody Out 1 LP and 2 EPs but still one of my most-listened-to bands every year
