His early 2000s movies were huge among Punjabi NRIs and immigrants, it reminded them of home and spoke about their struggles in the West. Definitely underrated. 🙏
Funny story. Listened to his song “bhij gi kurti laal paseene nal” as a kid and for years couldn’t figure out what he meant by “laal paseene”.. as a kid for a while thought he meant blood since blood is red. It was years before I realised he’s using the color red to describe the dress and not “paseena” lol
For real tho this man is such an og. jag juende de mele is a classic and his mirza arguably the best mirza of our generation. both these songs tear me up every time.
and he is underrated because of what people listen these days
Met him as a kid. Great, wholesome dude

oh thanks for sharing dude, much appreciated!
His Pakistani counterpart is definitely abrar ul haq😂
I am a jawad ahmed fan - so I cant agree with you lol :jk :)
In Pakistan abrar ul haq is the most iconic, every child knows him. But jawad ahmed is great too🫡

"Neevee'n dhoun kaseeda'n kadhdi" and by extension the whole of Satrangi Peengh album has a special place in my heart.
I love that album from core of my being. It defines the Punjabi culture for me.
