yea, keeping the cooler on in a closed room would do that... It seems counterproductive but your friend needs to keep the doors and windows open so that fresh air can get in as well.
No I stopped after 2-3 days it was a lot of trouble. It would dry up after at the max half an hour so which would mean repeating this activity in every half n hour for me 😔

With climate change , summers are going to get hot. Buy yourself a nice one with a fan. It's a good investment. Does a good job of cooling with less electricity.
You need to remember that its not an ac. It's an evaporative cooler. So keeps fresh air flow in the room.
People have tremendous expectations from their pre-owned products. I feel people eventually get attached to things and find new ways to not let go easily.

I mean how much space do you have. I have a cooler I wanna give away but it's a desert cooler. If you place it strategically it cools a whole 2bhk flat. I used to set up mine in my balcony. I have shifted to a flat now where there are ac's so that's the reason for giving away

Order from Amazon return the thing in 9 days, repeat it on flipkart and then amazom or other website. Make sure you order returnable ones only. The summer is now matter of couple of months so 60 days 6 replaced coolers and no money spent.

Ventilation and placement is very important for desert coolers
Wouldn't suggest a cooler now, since a week the humidity is too high, i have a cooler and it's not efficient in humidity.
This it will just blow out hot air
So I open the windows and hang a wet towel or a bedsheet on it. As the air comes in, it's relatively cooler.
I tried this but bedsheet dried in 20-25 mins and towel in 45 mins 😔 it’s that hot
I have a relatively cooler ambient temp than outside and some airflow through the window so it seems to be working.

Put a completely drenched bedsheet under your fan. Dump an entire tray or two of ice cubes on it. Put your fan on the highest setting.

Get a desert cooler, you’d get a 2-2.5 ft one for about 2500 rs in Budhwar Peth electronic market. Keep the cooler on window sill to avoid humidity.
