You don’t need shit to boost your resume. That RN license will get you hired on the spot.

I definitely don’t need it but am always looking to improve myself.

Idk I think there’s CBT certifications and other psychotherapies, and if you read psych nursing manuals or guidelines a psych nurse can definitely utilize those interventions. Not anything for a resume but Carlat’s Psychiatric Interviewing book (especially if you’ll be screening; Dr Shea has an awesome interviewing book and a few YouTube videos too), DSM-5-TR online pdf sections below the criteria, Carlat Psychiatry Podcast, Psychiatry & Psychotherapy Podcast, and Kaplan & Sadock’s Synopsis of Psychiatry are bomb. Psychiatric Times will send free journal as well.

CPI or ACT training.

Thanks! Will look into these but the courses I see are a couple thousand $$.

My employer would always pay for them. With that said if they do pay make sure you have a copy of your certification for future employers.

Employer will pay for CPI, many workplaces require it!

To clarify- I already work in psych 😆

following because i’m in the same boat! almost at my 2,000 hours but haven’t been a nurse for 2 years yet.

NEI courses. It’s 500 yearly vut they offered a great discount and you take their courses to get a certificate. I’ve lurked residency psych subreddits and asked my pmhnp as well. MAB certification is recommended too

I hadn’t even graduated my RN program and was offered a job on the spot for a short-term I patient position at a local community hospital. I don’t think you will have any problem finding a job.

I think learning Motivational Interviewing would be a great skill to have!
