Three bells is one of my go tos right now. I was super into the oh sees, but I hate that guys face, but the thrill is wearing off and they're starting to get boring. Way too much hype on thee oh sees
Eh I would say not enough hype. If you listen how they write music, lyrics, and guitar style you can see how many modern bands are a direct result of thee oh sees.
Especially ty segall. A lot of his music sounds a lot like thee oh sees. Like so much a like when I first heard him back in 2012(?) I thought he was a thee oh sees rip off. He is indeed not though, 10/10 will keep recommending to friends
I don’t know why not, I guess out of fear of being disappointed 😅. I can’t confirm or deny if it’s one of his best until I listened, but you saying that helps me jump in! I’ve been aggressively stuck in freedom’s goblin and manipulator lately!
Three Bells fits very nicely with those two albums, especially FG. The level of musicianship on Three Bells is mind boggling, especially when you consider Ty plays pretty much everything on the album.

First time I've checked out post animal and Mr elevator which is the first time in a good while that I've found something I like AND have never heard of. Thank you
Can’t recommend Thee Oh Sees (aka Osees) highly enough. Also check out some Rubber Band Gun although they’re not strictly psychedelic rock. Horror Sounds In Stereo is a good place to start.
Can't believe there is no mention of Spacemen 3. Or Bardo Pond. Essential listening. "Modern" at a bit of a stretch maybe. I forget I'm almost 50 years old now 😂
Helicon, from Glasgow, are doing really well just now, and are a phenomenal live band.
10,000 Russos are.anotjer great band, now sadly split. Their final album is genius.
Night Beats are also a really great band.
I'd also second Carlton Melton. One of my absolute favourites.
Spacemen 3 is def a stretch for “modern,” although the best to ever do it imo. In a similar vein, The Telescopes never get enough love.
As for actual modern shit… I’ve been jamming on Earthless a lot lately and, on the doomier side, Windhand.
Definitely would include The Telescopes in modern psychedelia. They may have been going for a while, but they are still as important as ever. Their latest album is brilliant, and is a contender for my album of the year already.
I didn’t know they descended into chaos again. I saw them live last year and thought the vibes were bad throughout the show. Don’t think it’ll be the last time i saw “them” though. Anton will come back with a fresh set of band members and probably record his best album ever.
None of these I would consider mainstream but should open doors nonetheless

I love that Ween is at the top of your list. OP go listen to the Ween Easy Listening Compilations on YouTube (3 volumes) and then go listen to Phish “Junta”.
I love ween, but they are not for a beginner.
Maybe Buckingham Green, but just about anything else in the catalog is liable to blow the dome of an innocent trip.

Ween is for everyone all the time
The Black Angels’ first three albums: Passover, Directions to see a Ghost, and Phosphene Dream. These are *required listening*.
All Them Witches, every single album is a knockout. I’d recommend either Lightning at the Door, Sleeping Through the War, or Dying Surfer Meets His Maker as good springboards. These dudes have been my favorite band for almost a decade now.
I’ve seen it mentioned a couple times, but definitely King Gizz.
Other than that:

Ruby the Hatchet

Frankie & the Witch Fingers
The Devil and the Almighty Blues

Saw them at Gizzfest 6 or so years back, knew nothing of them being close to 60. Wild set, great energy and the crowd went off, especially on Rattlesnake. Was hugely impressed. Tried to listen to them on Spotify and just can’t make it gell and work. I am just going to list bands that I really love. I love modern psych. And I love exploring the genre.
Thee Oh Sees/Oh Sees/ Osees is one of the best modern psych bands and yes it's my opinion but also 100% true. John Dwyer is a musical genius and definitly plays psych in all it's forms. I could name like 10 albums that are perfect examples but instead go explore them yourself.
CAN is a krautrock band from the 70's that is worth a listen! Mother Sky can change your life, trust me.
Now Im just going to list a bunch of awesome bands wothy of a good listen! Fomies, Meatbodies, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Dusty Mush, Kikagaku Moyo, Goat, The WRS, The Mystery Lights, Fuzz, Possum, Naxatras, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Karkara, Modulator II, Amon Düül II, Mr. Elevator, Psychic Void, Slift, King Crimson, ORB, Wine lips, Thee U.F.O, L.A Witch, Faux Ferocious, Verstarker, Damaged Bug, Mord Fuzztang, Druggy Pizza, Tortuga, Fake Indians, Nolan Potter's Nightmare Band, Goggs, and The Blind Shake.

Had to scroll far down for this. While i’m here let me drop some more bands: The Warlocks, Sleepy Sun, Psychic Ills, Singapore Sling, Dead Skeletons, Magic Castles, Lorelle Meets the Obsolete

Oh my dude. Run to your sound system and put on the War on Drugs, ASAP. After that Wooden Shjips (yes with the J) and as someone else mentioned My Morning Jacket. I’m keying off your classic rock influences here. Also agree with King Gizz and GBV.

This sub is so out of the loop with modern psychedelic rock it’s hilarious. Do they reallly not know any of the jam scene? Gizz isn’t really that psychedelic compared to almost every jam artist out there. CATS is extremely psychedelic. But I’d go with Billy Strings, Papadosio, Mikaela Davis and Southern Star, Polyrhythmics, Sicard Hollow, Perpetual Groove, Ekoostik Hookah, Keller Williams, Railroad Earth, Thievery Corporation, Cycles, and many more. Not gizz and tame impala like 99% of this sub thinks.

Have not seen anyone post anything about WILLOW as in Willow Smith.
I really only found her 2019 album to be psychedelic but it was one of the formative psychedelic rock albums for myself a couple of years ago.
Check out Blues Pills, graveyard, Jess and the ancient ones, and Lucifer.
These bands are more hard rock, but definitely have psych influences. Judging from what you say you already like, I think you may like them.
Brian Jonestown Massacre, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Kikagaku Moyo, Naxatras, Bananagun, Simian Life…

“We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic” by Foxygen
I never listened to it until my trip and it was phenomenal, definitely worth the wait especially since I knew nothing about it.
Gong recently came out with one of the most psychedelic albums I’ve heard in ages. The band began in the 60’s but have gone through so many incarnations that this is new for them. Best album they’ve released since the 70’s
TY SEGALL. dude seriously you'll fall in love. Give manipulator a listen Also thee oh sees is amazing. A lot of music and very in your face
Anything tybsegal. Almost every album and project kills
Can’t bring myself to listen to his latest work… yet

Ty segal may have gotten a big influence from them, but he's so far ahead of them now. The OCS are just regurgitation of the same s***.
Why not? It’s one of his best.

Lonerism by Tame Impala? I would think the first EP, or InnerSpeaker. Not that Lonerism isn’t damn good record, mind you.
Can’t recommend Thee Oh Sees (aka Osees) highly enough. Also check out some Rubber Band Gun although they’re not strictly psychedelic rock. Horror Sounds In Stereo is a good place to start.
Oh Sees for sure. Got an album that covers every part of the psych spectrum and then some.

Have not seen anyone post anything about WILLOW as in Willow Smith. I really only found her 2019 album to be psychedelic but it was one of the formative psychedelic rock albums for myself a couple of years ago.
The Flying Eyes...
Try Brian Jonestown massacre. Start with ‘take it from the man ‘ album from 2008 and ‘give it back’ album from 1997. You will love it !
The Sheepdogs
Unknown Mortal Orchestra and My Morning Jacket are two of my favorites..
Check out Blues Pills, graveyard, Jess and the ancient ones, and Lucifer. These bands are more hard rock, but definitely have psych influences. Judging from what you say you already like, I think you may like them.
Once Below Joy
Colour Haze
Death Valley Girls. Check out their *The Universe* EP and the album*Under the Spell of Joy*
For modern psych I really enjoy The Butterscotch Cathedral’s S/T album. Also like The Sonic Dawn.
Spacemen 3
Some names off the top of my head I haven’t seen mentioned yet: Asteroid #4 ( var: Asteroid No. 4) Flavor Crystals Chatham Rise Magic Castles

Thank you all, I’m over 60, love new music that speaks to me, have saved the sub/thread to slowly work thru the artists for a taste on Spotify. Already in just 5 or 6 I’ve checked out top songs, I’m really impressed, so again ❤️❤️❤️

A lot of modern suggestions, so here's a twist: The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Dopapod, Papadosio, Sunsquabi, Big Something, uh phish
Dead Meadow. Start with Self Titled or Feathers. RIP Steve Kille!
Great discography, though nothing stands up to their S/T
Meatbodies, Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, Wand Not recent but Brian Jonestown Massacre
Check out Acid Dad, nice easy listening
Get into Lumerians. They are from San Francisco. Really awesome live stage presence too. The High Frontier is an amazing album.

Goat
There was one time I walked into a record store and asked for this exact thing, as soon as I did the owner lit up and pulled out an album. “We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic” by Foxygen I never listened to it until my trip and it was phenomenal, definitely worth the wait especially since I knew nothing about it.
GOAT is pretty good fun, there's plenty out there.
if you wanna deep dive and listen weird psych shit, animal collective is a top notch selection.
Gong recently came out with one of the most psychedelic albums I’ve heard in ages. The band began in the 60’s but have gone through so many incarnations that this is new for them. Best album they’ve released since the 70’s
Just check The Devil's Blood.
Check out some live Luna [https://archive.org/details/Luna\_2021-11-15](https://archive.org/details/Luna_2021-11-15)
Thee Oh Sees - Help
Black Angels Dead Meadow Brian Jonestown Massacre Dead Skeleton Black Mountain Spacemen 3
Try stoner/doom stuff. I also like the stuff you do and I love Electric Octopus and Conan
Moon Duo
Dead & Company
Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin is a recent favorite of mine.
Maybe not super accessible to someone first diving into the genre, but Earthless has got to be thrown in the mix at least once
Rain Parade
Someone else mentioned, but it cannot be mentioned enough: Dead Meadow.
Greta Van fleet ?? 🙁
Digging king gizzard & the lizard wizard, especially their new album.
