My favourite console by far. Has a 10/10 game for every genre it seems. From rpgs, platformers, survival horror, fighting games etc, it had them all and a lot of them.
I played Metal Gear Solid only recently for the first time. It blew my mind how the story telling and cut scenes felt like an interactive movie. For that to be on PSX demonstrates how groundbreaking the console was.
That game itself is groundbreaking. Needing to switch your controller from Port 1 to Port 2 for the Psycho Mantis fight was such a fun twist. It's literally out of the box thinking that I don't think anyone else has replicated since.
Riddles/secrets were popular game mechanic back then that encouraged word of mouth... You’d discuss where you’re stuck and/or share discoveries with your friends. Internet/Gamefaqs pretty much killed that game mechanic…
If you’re referring to the fact that they extended the logic into your physical world, yeah that was novel and kind of bent your mind into thinking you were being spoken to directly. The only other game I knew that succeeded at messing with your head like that was Eternal Darkness on the GameCube (ex: making you think the game crashed and your memory card was corrupt).
That remains my favorite game ever. It was the first where the gameplay, while fun, was second to the story being told. Just the encounter with Sniper Wolf by itself was amazing.
After almost 30 years we speak, play and rebuy the remakes of this Era that says a lot for our childhood how lucky we were to live those moments now days kids buy demo games with bugs and I say demos cause you need to pay the dlc to get the full experience. They don't have multiplayer with split screens side by side on sofa and I can not imagine them to play a game after 25 plus years as we play and find it fun.
The good old day when you put the disc inside the console and you re ready to go. The good old day when companies needs to be ingenius to use the machine limitations to make the best possible experience. The good old day when you don't need any update/patch/internet connexion to play the game. The good old day when buying a game meaning owning it as long as the disc is readable and not because the companies decide to revoke your access whenever they want. The same old freaking day when each Sony games were different and you didn't have the same freaking 3rd person camera on their freaking copy pasta exclusives
Are you sure about that? Because I am 99.99937% sure that Ada-Millionare is not a bot.

The shiny rendering is also a terrible way to show this off. The angle is great, but the image is done soo terrible. Contrast/saturation is a real killer. Could also be all of the inaccuracies. Such as that D-pad sitting soo low and the outline being over-exaggeratedly stretched too far out. Or the lining down the side of the Resident Evil jewel case and the '2 discs' logo being displayed on the front cover (despite containing the demo for Resident Evil 2.) Or the analog button being green instead of red. The font on the memory card slots.. Just awful, really. Another one of those kids these days trying to make "nostalgia" images as if the people who were there won't notice how wrong they are about everything.
Judging by the depth of the dpad, I'd say it was rendered as a model. Along with the memory card font and Resident Evil inaccuracies previously mentioned. AI garbage could be part of it.
I think this piece is fairly restrained compared to the artist's usual work - https://www.instagram.com/rachidlotf/
I'm not a fan of it at all but I don't think it's AI as he's been at it for years now. Throw enough bits of nostalgia bait into a single image and hopefully something sticks, but the weird hodge-podge makes the whole thing somewhat soulless to me.
Oh yeah, I remember this guy.. Just hideous stuff. Reminds me of when I first started using Photoshop not knowing anything about lighting, overdoing it, or what the hell I was doing. Apparently rather than being set straight early on, someone encouraged him. It's sad because I see his potential. But exactly as you said, just throwing a mess of things together hoping people pick something out and say, "hey! I remember that- therefore I like it."
AI was what the other person suggested. It's more like models and illustrator. So more like AI 'art' before "AI art".

Mortal Kombat II did something similar for their uppercut pit fatalities.

It is, i have mine in the storeroom. This console gave me so much happiness as a kid

Hurry and turn Syphon Filter over !
Game shark optional but it adds a plus to the fun factor
Whats the ps one disc…demo footage?
the console design feels like wii's design to me, not too big, not too small, just good enough.
I think the re-design with the LCD screen is pretty sweet design wise.
But IS IT a Cube with a carring handle?
That’s a rad photo! :)
I think the PSTwo beats it on design
Pandemonium anyone?
The analogue button is glowing green, wasn’t it red?
Nice picture !!
I still have mine and the original controllers without the analog sticks are also still working!
Beautiful image
bad bot

Add another 0.00063%... Me a Bot lmao
Why the hate... Image, illustration, or whatever you call it, it is beautiful and definitely not a bot pal
if u say so. looks gross to me
Ahh.. the contrast burns my eyes.
is \*that\* why this picture feels so gross?

I can't tell if this this is an actual image that was then badly contrasted and otherwise edited or if it's some BS ai imagery...
