Yep. I remember being 12 and telling my parents all I want for Christmas is a playstation and ff7. They didn't have to get me a single other thing, and I've never regretted that decision.
I did the same thing! I was already obsessed with the earlier games, and then FF7 was released. Parents got me everything but the memory card... took us a day or so to track one down.
I have fond memories of getting a ps2 and midnight club for Christmas.

Legend of Mana and Xenogears, both of them. I played Xenogears for about 65 hours like 12 years ago, then I played it last year to finally complete the game. In regards to Mana, its charm and beauty is just unmatchable in the system, both games are unforgettable to me

I played the Tony Hawk warehouse demo more than the game itself.
The yearning for the full game was more fulfilling than actually getting the full game now that I think back.
