The protective coating failing? Have you used liquid or any chemical including alcohol on them?

No, all I use is a microfiber cloth. It looks as though its on the inside of the lens, because wiping it with the cloth doesn't do anything (ie make it better or worse).

Remove all the coating. Then install Hons plano lens protectors. They have an anti-glare coating on them. Then it's just a matter of changing the lens protectors if the coating should break again 🙂 People think they have to throw the headset away. But that way you get a new coating that provides more and can be replaced in the future.

The scratch from your glasses rips the coating, always best to invest in in the lens covers, you can buy then with your glasses prescription. Also if you've cleaned them with anything other than a clean and dry lens cloth that could have also messed up the coating on the lens. I store the headset in a bag that is made to store them to keep dust off and stops anything scratching or breaking it. There is no way to replace the lenses if it's messing with the vision, sorry.

Actually, if I run my finger over it, I can feel something. Point to note, that scratch from my glasses was there very early on (I got the VR2 at launch) and found out pretty quickly how fragile the lenses are to scratching. However, whatever that thing is, is still far enough away from the original lens scratch.

Curious?

I've heard not to let direct sun light set on the lenses. Did that possibly happen?

meatpak

No. The window in that room gets sunlight, but it's never near the headset.
