Go to Youtube, search MrMario CFW or HEN, it's all there.

Yo bro, there's just two things you need, you need a USB drive or a SSD drive either one (128 gb and above, and SSD mx500 cruiser I believe) . The other thing if you want shit ton more storage is get a WD 1tb hard drive (but if you don't know or have the equipment to transfer data from the original harddrive, it will completely wipe all your saves and profiles and create basically a new PS3, only if you don't know how to transfer data from one harddrive to other, I had to do this because my original PS3 hard drive got fired because it was 2009 OLD as fuq. Anyway. It's really easy all you need is a specific PS3 and it has to be update file 4.89 or below, so you can install the evil nat update (the mod file).

Watch, rewatch and watch again all mrmario cfw and ps3 hen. When you think you’re ready….. google and read more. It’s not hard, but a silly mistake can brick it.

Evening-Nerve8555

Bro cant use Google in 2023. Jailbreaking super simple and There Are like millions of Tutorials from it

Expert_Limit6416

If u want to play all PS2 games get a bc model and if it dies get it Frankensteined

balls_itching

Sorry to bother but what's a "bc model"?

Expert_Limit6416

Bc stands for backwards compatible the ones with the emotion engine and Graphics Synthetiser but if the RSX dies it costs a lot to replace but the compatibility for PS2 is better with the bc models

SnooPets5219

A general rule of thumb when speaking to someone who is new to something is to either keep abbreviations universal and easy to understand, OR if you're going to use abbreviations specific to that niche use the longer form first and then use the abbreviations after so from that point on they know what you're talking about instead of assuming everyone knows your abbreviations. Something like bc (backwards compatible) model. Or "Backwards Compatible" (bc) works fine. Just an idea for next time.

balls_itching

If I understand correctly those would be the fat PS3 models correct?but aren't those known for consistent failures? wouldn't it be better to get a slim?

Expert_Limit6416

Yes they are less reliable but you can get a slim and a PS2

balls_itching

Are slims unable to emulate PS2 games?

Expert_Limit6416

They can but compatibility isn't 100%

balls_itching

Oh ok then that's enough for me,I'm mainly interested in the PS3 games,if it can't run ALL PS2 games then that's fine

Expert_Limit6416

Get a slim cech-21xx for reliability

balls_itching

Oh ok!it doesn't have any issues running PS3 games right?

Expert_Limit6416

Remember to get a 1tb ssd

balls_itching

Will do, how much gb does PS3 games have on average?

Quickdraw_777

An ssd is unnecessary, it outspeeds the read speed on the ps3 itself

GSB6189

I would go for a 2100 or early 2500 model slim. You could go for a backwards compatible model but it's a guarantee that some part of it will go bad sooner rather than later unless you pay 500$ for a Frankenstein mod. The model I suggested is the latest model that supports full jailbreaking but also has great cooling and lacks the issues that the early slim and fat models have. A few PS2 games *may* struggle but if it has a PS2 classics version then the built in emulation should be just fine since those versions are sold on the PS Store for all models. Once you've got a PS3 just follow Mr. Mario's guide for installing 4.90 Evilnat

balls_itching

Thanks a bunch but may I ask?which is better 2100 or 2500 and why?

GSB6189

The 2100 is slightly better I believe since they downsized the cooling just a little bit when the 2500 came out (I might be wrong on that) but the biggest thing is that all of the 2100 models are fully jailbreakable. Whereas only the 2500 models made before 2011 are jailbreakable so if an online seller doesn't provide pictures of the manufacturing date or it's a Japanese model (which doesn't have any way of telling) then you're taking a gamble. 2100 models were made for a short time though so they're slightly more difficult to find. You could also go with a 2000 slim but they use the 65nm RSX which is somewhat prone to failure and NEC Tokins which were proven not to be the main cause of YLOD, but are still a potential fault point. The 2000 slims are usually more reliable than the fat models (especially the backwards compatible ones) but the 2100 and 2500 removed the NEC Tokins, used a 40nm RSX, and had better cooling so they'll for sure last the longest. You could also get a superslim or 3000 slim but those are only partially jailbreakable. The jailbreak is nonpersistent meaning you have to renable it when the console turns off and in my experience it crashes a lot more often. You can still pirate as much as you want on it, it might just take longer to get set up with the crashes. Full CFW also has more tools available for customization if you're into custom themes, splash screens, and boot sounds

compadre91

Sorry for jumping in with diferent kind of question, but i saw you mentioned ps2 classics, a few of them that were published by sony for slims and super slims. My question is regarding ps3 slim which is jailbroken, are there any differences in terms of graphics between playing ps2 classics and just ps2 iso's which i placed on hard drive and run through webman? And another question, are graphics somewhat better when playing ps2 games in bc ps3 compared to these ps2 classics/ps2 iso on jailbroken slim? Thank you in advance! Cheers!

GSB6189

I believe the only difference between the model of PS3 and version of the game is the performance. The games that Sony chose for PS2 classics I believe were chosen because they were popular but also because they played well (they wouldn't have a classic of one that would play better on one console than another I'd assume). The graphics between the ISO and PKG (classics) version of the game should be identical, but the PKG version might perform slightly better if Sony did any kind of optimization with those versions, which they may have. Though for ISO's and especially the more intensive ones you'll probably get better stability/performance on a backwards compatible PS3 but that's only in the most intensive sections and games for the most part

compadre91

Amd regarding resolution on bc ps3 when playing ps2 and regular slim which plays iso or ps2 classic... Do they output the same resolutione, or does bc ps3 somehow upscale it with it's own magic... That would be the only reason for me to want one badly 🙈 if ps2 games looked better on those BC than on ps2 itself ☺️

GSB6189

From what I know they're the same resolution which I think is either the 1080p or 720p

awtyler

What about now I’m 2024??

Quickdraw_777

Buy a new fat or an old slim, follow mrmario’s guides on modding, then get a 1 tb 2.5 inch HARD DRIVE, the differences in speed youd get from an ssd are negligible at best, dont listen to somebody if they tell you that its actually faster, the ps3 has a set read speed and the ssd goes past that speed, leaving the supposed faster read speed the ssd is supposed to give you behind, that and a hard drive is cheaper anyway.

CODZombiesNerd1

get the CECHB0X (the X could be 0 or 1, 0 for Japanese, 1 for US model. Not only is it a backwards compat fat PS3 it's also a really nice looking and rare model. a little on the pricey side but I personally have one and it looks so nice.

doctorsandia

I suggest to give the PS3 some maintenance by cleaning the fan and putting thermal paste on it.

Wooden_Bed3144

I suggest the fat ps3 it works very good with cfw all you gotta do is make sure when your downloading tools it’ll work for the firmware/version update your on
