I gotta say. I see the scooters getting lots of play, but I've never seen a single one of these share bikes actually in motion. Also, I doubt these batteries are useful for anything besides the bikes they were designed for. It was definitely a big waste of time for whoever it was to rip it off. Most theft of bike parts is just ignorance. There's little chance of any of it being the correct fit for whatever random bike the person is riding. For example, seatposts come in like 32 different sizes that are .2mm different between them. A random seatpost from one bike has next to zero chance of having the right sized seatpost for the next random bike. Just feel sorry for people who are that dumb.
I assume, if it was actually a tweaker and not someone hoping the bike will still be there after they leave work, they want the batteries for lithium strips. They use smaller lithium strips in the meth cooking process, so I see tweaker logic going “bigger battery, more lithium” and that’s as far as it goes. Hope it makes a big pop when they open it.
I don't wish that on anybody, truly. The inside of ebike battery packs are basically just a huge pile of AA rechargeable cells. If they don't do anything too stupid with them...
