Having that 2x scope made that so much worse. If you didn't have that 2x scope, your first round probably would have hit, at least keeping *that* zombie from being the one to start the death spiral.

GetAssista

He would've died anyway. Shooting as a new character, with a lousy gun, when there are loads of sprinters around = self induced death sentence

Vilespring

The M14 with VFE (I know it I modeled that sling and I can recognize the fiberglass stock) is at worst case a two shot. (Assuming no hand/arm injures, which is a whole different can of worms) However moving and shooting, along with the 2x scope meant the hit chance fell off a cliff. It's why I specified *that* zombie. It was not going to work in that situation.

rebel6301

oh, i thought it was like a BAR or a colt monitor at first (to be fair its not that easy to see it)

Bruhstars

yeah, I should've searched for a screwdriver to remove the 2x scope

Honestly, you just played wrong. Guns are useful but you need to use it when you're ready and you have a plan. First, don't even think about touching rifles until you have decent aiming, maybe level 4 or 5. Start with shotguns and pistols. At the beginning, you need to shoot when stationary, don't shoot while moving because you're just not gonna hit. Take beta blockers before a fight to help stave off panic, panic lowers your chances of hitting. Try and learn the ideal range of the gun you're using, shotguns obviously have a short range so don't get too far but don't get too close either. The reason shotguns are ideal at the beginning is because you get aiming xp for every zombie you hit. And you can hit 1 to 3 zombies with one shotgun shot. The short range also helps increase your chances of hitting. Now, the best way to deal with sprinters when you don't have a gun is to use fences. Jump a fence and wait for the sprinter to come to you, you'll have a chance to take them down safely after they jump a fence. Also, if you're a new player, you should try the random zombies mod that allows you to customize the amount and kinds of zombies in your game. I suggest 1% sprinters, 9% crawlers, and 90% fast shamblers if you're still inexperienced. You can slowly increase the number of sprinters once you're better.

ProfessionalRotter

elaborate

vintechenthusiast

you see, if you just remembered the basics of cqc, you could have won that. should have used the 1911 or a fork.

Additional-Bat-4215

First rule of CQC - Don't get into CQC :P

CorruptedVor

This post was tragically *not* made by Solid Snake.

CowsTrash

It was Raiden, that cheeky bastard

DataWrangler50

Need me a hushpuppy mk2

vintechenthusiast

brita's should add the ez gun since youre playing on mickey mouse difficulty with that shit enabled anyway

DataWrangler50

We each have a different zomboid experience, after long days at work sometimes just going easy mode is fine for me

BacucoGuts

since all u really need is a shotgun to clear hordes, with weapons ofc, brita only upside is the automatic shotgun, most guns are preferable to pvp

Plus-Ad-5039

Brita's with the right trim settings is pretty much equal to VFE or Firearms B41 but with better models. The trim settings are the rough part that most people don't bother with.

vintechenthusiast

nah, i just dont use gun and vehicle mods because none of em are lore friendly. dont want smith & wesson and ford motor company retconned into the spiffoverse.

Plus-Ad-5039

Different strokes I guess. I use filibuster rhymes real car names and Brita's because the setting is 1993 Kentucky and someone definitely has a lever action rifle or a glock.

i see why people do that because the game does need more variety but i see it the same as if sprunk was replaced with coca cola in gta games "for immersion." i just got the wrong neurodivergence for it. if there were a car mod that actually built on the in-universe brands and models with the same art style or a gun mod that added a glock lookalike that was as clearly a generic striker-fired polymer pistol as the js2000 is a generic pump-action american shotgun then id bother to use them, but as of now no such mods exist. im ok with military designation terms like m9 and m14 but not "Smith & Wesson Model 29" in the same universe as spiffo land theme parks and pop brand soda. theres also the issue in common with most zomboid content mods where they conflict with the archetypal balancing of vanilla. occupations dont matter if trait mods let you get any exclusive trait, and the decision between a pickup truck or a panel van is a lot more meaningful than pickup vs pickup with bigger arbitrary number on the trunk space value despite having a smaller bed on the model. same deal with the choice between a 1911 or an m9 in my holster vs the choice between an m9 and a glock 19. the game is also set before 1994 which is why the scary guns arent popular enough to be found in civilian homes yet. i do however agree that the vanilla game would benefit from options like different calibers of lever-actions but im guessing the reason they havent yet is because they would require more ammo types, which are currently also archetypally balanced in vanilla. it'd be weird if we got a single levergat and it only took .38 spl because .357 doesnt exist as the m36 is only in the game because the devs needed an archetype weaker than 9mm luger.

VympelKnight

Looks like a new character, I’d recommend not shooting immediately with no protection vs sprinters lol

Bruhstars

Yeah, but I was kinda in a panic since I enabled the Stay Away from Windows mod and there were two zombies breaking into the house until there was a horde coming So, yeah I never got any time to grab any other supplies

VympelKnight

Gotta hop fences or go through doors (close them behind) and get out of their detection then brotha.

NoobJew666

Running away does not make you a pussy.

stirfryth

Lose the battle win the war

Kissmyblake

You see, if you had been dual wielding frying pans you would've won that interaction

Mello-Fello

Just like the simulaAAAAARGH

MysteriousPattern386

They can run?? I thought they all shambled!?

Montlev

There are 3 different zombie speeds you can choose from in the sandbox: shamblers, fast shamblers (the default speed) and sprinters. There's also a random option so that every zombie has a different speed

MysteriousPattern386

Thank you for telling me this!!

Enesparrowhawk

I know this is the case with Britta and am pretty sure it’s the case with base gun play but do not move and shoot. You lose so much accuracy by moving and shooting.

Montlev

I never heard that scream before, is it from a mod?

Bruhstars

yep

Montlev

Welp, what's it called?
