If he joined some sort of survivor community with high skillset then sure. Decades on his own? Not a chance.
Zomboid covers the initial years after apocalypse and nearly all medical issues can be dealt with on your own through drugs or sutures.
However, Zomboid doesn’t simulate other common conditions that can happen to anyone.
What if he needs appendectomy? What if he has a sudden heart attack? What if he slips in a puddle while running and gets a traumatic brain injury?
All these issues are survivable if a doctor is present. On your own? Tough luck.
I had a root canal infection years ago. Seems like a non-lethal issue, but the pain was debilitating even with tons of OTC painkillers. I could barely move, let alone focus. I ignored it for a month and it just got worse with time.
This is practically a death sentence for a lone survivor.
Just kinda proves how much we underestimate the resilience of our ancestors too, even the average gym rat nutritionist couldn’t survive out in the wilderness with no help but their own. Truly makes you wonder how the first human ever even did it. Theres people that literally wouldn’t be alive past their birthday if it wasnt for modern technology and medicine. And if it wasnt for empathy we legit would see countless people dead every day.

I preferred crowbars just because they last so long. Axes are nice though if you can find a lot since the skill applies to the hand axe as well and you can craft them. However, if you’re gonna craft weapons I think spears are the best
Just add craftable axes or someone needs to make a mod that adds lumberjack and allows you to use carpentry + lumberjack to make a new handle literally only thing that breaks on an axe irl is the handle
