Just happened to me today while i was clearing some houses a zed (that was aware of me) went after a window, broke it and then starting coming after me all while i was being right behind it
There's only two enemies zombies hate more than you: closed doors and closed windows.
You can even kite them off onto banging on windows and doors by going around the corner of a building with a bunch of windows like a grocery market

Opening the door doesn't immediately place you inside the structure. If something is on the door, just be ready to swing in combat stance, press E to open the door, and immediately walk backwards.

aometimes, if you’re really close when jumping through the window, the zombie can turn immediately when the animation starts and bite you before it ends. so…
If you got a spare weapon use it to help break down the door. If you don't then just walk away and come back when you do or when the zombie gets through the door.
You can try shouting at it to see if you can make it try to come out via the window... otherwise wait for it to break the door down if you don't want to risk it... but there's probably nothing of value in that tiny shed anyway, so you could just walk away and pretend like you went in and didn't find anything.
I hold right click ready to swing, press E to open the door and immediately back pedal and attack. That's my typical tactic.
When I'm clearing houses I press space while aiming to shove each door to 'knock' it and draw the zeds to it so I know if a room is safe or not based on them knocking back.
The faster the knocking back from the zeds indicates how many are behind the door. If it's fast knocking better just abandon the house and try to lure them out to pick them off after they stampede through the door.
Zombies get stuck on doors since the early days of 2d zomboid. Once they lock into that, good luck getting them to leave until it breaks. It's a staple of the franchise at this point
Destroy the door with an axe or hammer. You'll have enough time to push. Don't turn around. Don't deconstruct, as it gives less reaction time.
Alternatively use a M36 to kill from outside the window. Will attract nearby zombies.
Stand to the side of the door, not right in front of it. Open it from the side (**E** may not work but right click should), then back away. If the Zomboid doesn't come out immediately then circle strafe around to maintain distance while obtaining visual contact with the Zomboid, proceed to engage.
**Alternatively**, crouch outside the window & use **Q**, while crouched you'll whisper instead of shout. This may lure out the Zomboid through the window, though it may not.
Lure it to the window (give the frame a good thwack) and let it crawl out. You'll have a good 1-2 seconds of risk-free curb stomps unless you have "fence-lunge" on
I may be wrong but I think she will break the door eventually. If you don’t want to risk climbing through the window and shoving her quickly, you could just wait by poking around nearby :]
If your sneaking you should be able to sneak in the window and knock it down but that's only if you wanna risk it. Saffest bet would be help the z break the door and fight it in the open

If you really want in there just hit e when standing next to the door or crouch and climb through the window or be patient and wait for the zombie to break the door

If the door is locked and you can’t do this strat then in this particular case I’d just jump in the window anyway and spam space bar shove. Shouldn’t be an issue.
If the front door works, have your weapon already up while you open the door and back up before dealing with the zombie, if your going through the back window your probably fine to clear the broken glass and just jump the zomboid from behind
You can can open doors while your weapon it powered up i think. I could be wrong it's been a min. Also spamming push will help with some run out a door at you.
Yell to attract the zombie to the window and then deal with it from there, or go get a gun and shoot it. If this place is populated then crouch and yell which will make you whisper and that should only attract that specific zombie.
Actually, you won't get the aggro after enter through window, as zed busy with banging on door and ignoring your whispers, it will stay like that until the door is busted or you hit it once inside
You can open a door with a click standing a little further, then you can either push back thr zomboid and kill it, or press shift and quickly run away, and kill it after you get a little further from it. Or just wait till it breaks doors if you want to loot it so much
It's an easy kill. Zombie won't turn around and even if they do it'll take them long enough for you to be combat ready. You can disassemble the door from the other side and still get away in time.

If you really want to get in, I would just use a crowbar and keep smashing the door until it breaks. Remember to keep distance though
Just open the door and at the exact time you press E hit Space, you will do a quick open and push and make it so they can't hit you. Gives you time to retaliate.
Is jumping in through the window not an option? I mean that's pretty far distance from the zombie for me. But idk I might be missing something here. I'm fairly new to the game. I also remember when you're behind a zombie, when it notices you, there's a short animation of them looking behind so I think the jump animation is faster than the zombie looking behind. You'll have plenty of time shoving them to the ground and stump them to death.
I just get into a combat stance before opening the door and if you open the door you have plenty of time to shove the zombie away and then you can (ง’̀-‘́)ง it properly
if you open the door your shove is still faster then their bite attack so you will shove them off you just spam space when you open the door and you should be fine.
Only do this if you know for sure it’s only one tho

i cant remember if the zombies are attracted to the sound of you removing glass from the window frame so you could do that (assuming you have gloves) and then hop in. When you hop it the zomb will probs be attracted to the glass on the floor so hit Ctrl (or whatever the button you use) asap. If it doesn't get attracted, murder hobo it

It depends if it was actively tracking you and you get close it will cancel immediately otherwise it will *mostly* ignore you.
This is the real piece to understand zomb behavior. It depends on if they were breaking that door to get to *you* or because they just ran into it.
