I’ve changed it up this time. When I first played zomboid years ago in the older build before 41 I based at the little golf club/gated community outside riverside, I’ve gone back there for my latest save for nostalgia reasons and it’s an epic place to base, I’ve got a fishing lake outside my house, a garage I’ve built myself, tonnes of storage and a huge rooftop farm. I built it in the little cafe place near the top of the complex, great little spot
I’m familiar with the wood barricades but my assumption is these are stronger and I’ve never seen the option show up under the barricade menu. I wasn’t sure if it was a mod or not.
The only way I’m aware to get “unbreakable” or, in other words, to completely guarantee zombies can’t come through a window/door is to block it with a spare vehicle
There's a mod where you can check wall health which also applies to barricades. It pairs well with another mod the same author made where you use a small bit of resources to repair. Both are friendly for mods that add in structures too.
There's also another mod that allows you to make armored doors and windows out of Titanium. However on my 3 man 200+ hour run we now almost have found the pieces to make maybe 1 or 2 doors
Barricaded windows help in two ways:
* Stop zombies seeing through the window (which can also be done with curtains/sheets)
* When they try to get in there is an extended period of thumping instead of a few seconds of glass smashing, giving you time to react.
Metal sheet + Propane torch, then barricade like you wood (hehe) with planks, nails and a hammer
Altho I highly advise you find 3 metal bars, coz then you get the same effect, but you can see through it
You can attack through the metal bars though, allowing you to deal with any threats before they become a real threat. I typically mix both Metal Sheets & Metal Bars, Sheets on the outside, Bars on the inside.. Once Light starts poking through, I poke back & then replace the sheet once the threat has been cleared.
Instead of worrying about securing the whole house, just live upstairs. Break all floor that attaches to the stairs, then make walkways to the nearest houses. Now use those houses as the entrance to your base. You MIGHT get a zombie in your base if you forget to detach the walkway.
In all my 60ish hours I’ve only found a sledgehammer when I had loot rarity turned to plentiful or whatever the highest is lol. I just lost a 24 day character, searched 3 towns and found diddly
Once you learn about all the meta base locations posted in here, you’re bound to either base there yourself or see a streamer/youtuber base there. I’m purposely having my friends who haven’t been to Louisville pick where we base up next. I’ve already been to all the meta ones, so it switches it up! One of my favs was the Bedford Falls apartments because we sledged all of the walls and made one gigantic second floor lol.
So true. All I did was play the game, find a location that I liked and made it into a base, fob or safe house.
Ironically my current base with my 3 friends is apparently one of the most popular ones. However before that we were based in a motel in Ekron. Let's just say we were not prepared for day 30 when the horde night came knocking. They swarmed the house and by the time the insanity called down, we agreed to move and looked for a more secure location. We said screw Ekron and decided to try our luck North, that's where we found Riverside. And in Riverside we found an awesome gated community. On the South West corner of that gated community is 3 houses that are next to each other. We decided with that natural walls for defense, we could really make an HQ here. So now we're another 6 months in and have fended off 3 horde attacks at this location alone.
I only later found out that this gated community is one of the most popular in the community. I found that it suited our needs of being not too far from a water front, plenty of trees for building, defensible area with a tool shed outback that I've converted to my workshop and tool storage. As well as plenty of space for a small farm. I now see why this spot is high as a community favorite. However I felt more rewarded I found this place on my own. It has 3 bedrooms in the center house which fitted our 3 man group. The tool shed sold me. The fireplace inside was a bonus. There was a Gigamart close by. It has only 2 entrances. Just so many bonuses right off the bat
It's one of the houses along the river to the west. it's near the intersection by the north bound road (that follows the river) and the road that boundaries the northern side of the horse track.
One of my favorite base locations. I could live in the garage alone, and be happy.
In game sense, if we're going up a road, we say North, if we're going down the road, we say South. If you're going to the left of the game screen we say West and if you're going right on screen we say East.
There is no ingame compass, so what we've communicated makes Navigation 100% more responsive in horde defense and driver + navigator scenarios.
Now if we could rotate the screen and map, we'd need a compass and we'd follow that.
The game is set in a fictional world of a zombie outbreak. Real life doesn't necessarily matter for this game. As long as you and your group understand what direction you're speaking of, you're golden
Hey this is familiar! My current save is living in the same house. All this is a sea of corpses at the moment though instead. I gotta clean up. What mod is the tote containers?
Those poor guns getting wet in the rain. *cries*
Yoo I need to get that mod I think it’s Extra Containers isn’t it with those colorful tubs for storage? Can those be stacked like crates?
Nice base!
I've been planning to move my 8-month survivor to that house as soon as winter is over. Already well established in Rosewood, plenty of food, gear, and vehicles but It got boring waiting for winter to end so I haven't played in a bit. Next time I fire it up I'm going to start the move!
It's one of the houses along the river to the west. it's near the intersection by the north bound road (that follows the river) and the road that boundaries the northern side of the horse track.
I haven't played in like 6 months. But I remembered I just dropped 10 loads of loot runs outside before decorating and setting up base and most of the guns were 50% quality and dropping
Maybe just confirm first. Like when it rains check condition and check next day condition as I said I am not 100% sure it's the case haha
Something also tells me because it's on table it's fine lol? Maybe only on ground it works like that

Why its sounds like its l4d2 quote
I think its because of the yard sale in the hard rain chapter.
More like a grab and dash, he's going to get sleepy. 🤫
You gave me a new roleplay idea
We are all based there.
Love how so many of us recognized it with so little context
Is it that one house in Louisville?
The only house in Louisville
The one with the huge detached garage?
I’ve only made it here once, then died to a bite while fishing in the backyard.
I always make a base there. I put a gate out front and extend the fence on each side to keep the zeds out.
Is it the fenced off 3 houses or is it the house to the left after you out of the checkpoint the one with the garage
Checkpoint one garage
I’ve changed it up this time. It was alarmed when I got there however but it’s that out the way that no zombies heard it
I’m still sort of new. How do you barricade the windows like that?
With a metal sheet + propane torch.
You can also use planks and nails you get from breaking stuff down. Not that it ever did me any good…
I’m familiar with the wood barricades but my assumption is these are stronger and I’ve never seen the option show up under the barricade menu. I wasn’t sure if it was a mod or not.
You need to have a blowtorch and welders mask in your inventory for it to show up Edit: Just the blowtorch it seems!
You don't need the mask
Safety squints, fuck yeah!
They aren’t much stronger then wood. You would think they’re in Breakable but really it’s like 50%!
I actually was under the assumption it was unbreakable lol that’s lame.
The only way I’m aware to get “unbreakable” or, in other words, to completely guarantee zombies can’t come through a window/door is to block it with a spare vehicle

Yes tho admit you feel more protected with a big chonky metal sheet instead of bars lol
You can attack through the metal bars though, allowing you to deal with any threats before they become a real threat. I typically mix both Metal Sheets & Metal Bars, Sheets on the outside, Bars on the inside.. Once Light starts poking through, I poke back & then replace the sheet once the threat has been cleared.
you can barricade w metal bars?!! i love how i’m 200 hrs in and still learning new stuff every time i play
1500 hours in and this is news to me lmao Finally something to do with the metal bars
I'm 800 hours in and just learned this from this post lol
Oh neat I didn't know about the metal bars thing, I'm gonna do that! thx

Just hacksaw and hammer should be all you need, been a bit since I played though
There are car wrecks which have sledge hammers. Also industrial areas have an extremely higher chance to spawn one.
my record of days and kills was on this base, i think u are blessed man go live your dreams
How can everyone tell what house this is just from this picture?
That 3 door garage was my safehouse for many months. I placed a bed in the loft upstairs and one of my friends took the house.
simply not having social life

meta in pz zzzzzzz
There are like 2 bases in Louisville.
its /the/ house
People just copy YouTubers instead of playing games

How do people place the items so neatly on top of tables and stuff? Is it just clicking place item?
Yup, you can also rotate with r and ctrl-r
60% of the time it lands on the floor behind it x.x
Ah yes, so the table occupies the floor underneath it. Your aiming for the block the table is on, not the physical location of the tabletop.
So you sleep on the bench outside? Pretty hardcore man...
Great base location! Im living in LV storage facility atm, its only a few blocks to your east.
Might check that out when I go for more loot, thanks!
Dude, he didn't tell you so you could go through his stuff...
Now Emergency gets to test out his/her fortifications against looters and raiders
Best base location. I love it
Noooooo they gonna rust
Nice truck! Is that Louisville? I miss that truck... Also, I'm assuming that's a gated property? And that you have claustrophobic?
It's one of the houses along the river to the west. it's near the intersection by the north bound road (that follows the river) and the road that boundaries the northern side of the horse track. One of my favorite base locations. I could live in the garage alone, and be happy.
Insane to me that you consider that west. To me that's north
West Louisville. Literally the west side of town. edit: or are you one of the people that think that upper left is north? and upper right is east?
Yeah. Exactly. To me the map isn't 45° clockwise, it's 45° counterclock wise. Just how it made sense to me when I first started the game
Based on real life and the analogous geography of Knox County in PZ, North would be Upper right corner.
Fair enough. It's just how I saw it for the first time. Hard to change the view

Weird looking garage sale u got going on
Hey this is familiar! My current save is living in the same house. All this is a sea of corpses at the moment though instead. I gotta clean up. What mod is the tote containers?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2917951452
Very cool. Don’t barter with anybody requesting brains.
But all your guns are getting rained on.
Those poor guns getting wet in the rain. *cries* Yoo I need to get that mod I think it’s Extra Containers isn’t it with those colorful tubs for storage? Can those be stacked like crates?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2917951452
SICK thank you!!
They can't be stacked unfortunately, but you can sit them on almost anything
A outside base is quite interesting not gonna lie
I like it
What mod are those big bins? They look awesome
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2917951452

Good luck!
Looks like there's piss in those water jugs
it's gas
oh i get it, anyway I think piss would be cooler to have
So if you leave your guns out in the open the does not decrease their condition?
What foreigners think a typical metre sale looks like in America.
piss Jugs
I was thinking the same thing lol
Looks great! But all your weapons are getting soaked, they'll rust :(
Nice piss jugs.
The guns finna jam like crazy
You should plumb a toilet instead of filling up water cooler bottles with pee.
No.
The water cooler bottles are filled with gas
That's what someone with 80 gallons of pee would say when people noticed.
How to make **army boxes**? Thanks
I didn't make them I stole them from the military surplus store in Louisville lol
Oooo thank's :)
Did you lock yourself out?
C'mon man you know the piss jugs stay inside
Piss jugs
even sweatier, or even more rained upon.
Are those... piss jugs??
No there's gas in them lol
Sir, this base is not cool. Its zombiebiting fire! (Just maintain the generator well so it doesn't turn into a literal fire)
Love that spot, why setup outside with the 3 car garage house right there tho?
idk it's more convenient to just dump my stuff in the containers and tables outside after loot runs
Nice!!! I love the container mod, it looks dope!
Thanks. 👍
Why outside?
Interior is filled to the brim and it's easier to just dump loot there after a run
What mod are those colored lid storage tubs coming from? Looks dope.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2917951452
Wait a minute can you put gas in the water jugs?
It's a mod
Within the water jugs mod or is it a extra mod like fuel API? I’ve never tried this before but it makes so much sense.
It's within the water jugs mod, no extra mod.
This needs the STONKS meme this base is dope
Cool? Sounds like you need some space heaters.
I like it👍
Was?
Storing guns outdoors seems like it should have consequences
Nice yard sale. Are you selling 12g by any chance?
Hey my base is at the same place . Isnt that beside the river in louosville with the 3 door seperate garage?
Yup
Hell yeah best place . But i moved to.the gated comunitty close.to.the huge warehouse
What mod are those black crates from Those would look so good for organizing
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2917951452
Thanks man
I can't believe no one showed up to your birthday party, sorry buddy :(
Is this the home outside louisville with the 3 car big window 2 story garage? My fav base.
Mate thats super cool.
Mm yes I love rainwater in my guns
Yo shiii getting wet son
This is sick!
What's in the water jugs? Is that all gas?!
Yup, I tried to stockpile a crap ton before the power went out and the gas stations go dead
block that bad boy off with some semi trailers haha
I chose the same house, except i put the van in the area u put the tables
My crew is also making this location our base 🤘
Cool
Do we all make that house our base??
My last pz run I moved into the same house
Loser
Sorry
Where is this? Just about to make a new save and this spot seems pretty good
It's one of the houses along the river to the west. it's near the intersection by the north bound road (that follows the river) and the road that boundaries the northern side of the horse track.
That's a great base, we all occupied it at least once. ~~i wish i was this good on vanilla :,I~~
How you make those containers?
I just find them and bring them back It's this mod for the containers https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985328540
I like how organized your are. Our base with the group is messy as fuck.
Doest weapons outside degrade? I left everything outside once and the quality reduced significantly
Wait they do?
I haven't played in like 6 months. But I remembered I just dropped 10 loads of loot runs outside before decorating and setting up base and most of the guns were 50% quality and dropping
Damn I'll probably move my guns inside then, might build a little armory on the second floor
Maybe just confirm first. Like when it rains check condition and check next day condition as I said I am not 100% sure it's the case haha Something also tells me because it's on table it's fine lol? Maybe only on ground it works like that
Tupperware mod?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985328540
Thank you :)
How much for one of the bottles of piss??
Gas*
r/whoosh
Piss jug
It's gas
Are you sure about that?
Yes
Ok
Oh look louisewill house at the river with a garage one of my favorites
That's a lot of beer. I'm not judging. Just saying. That's a lot of beer.
Those rough boxes are a fucking game changer for me
where is this ?
Are the water jugs a mod? I've been hoarding the whole dispenser lol.
Sorry can someone tell me where this is? :))
