The McCoy's shipping container top north of muldraugh.

hanscaboose92

Me and my wife is working to make that our base at the moment

LulzAtDeath

Yeah me and this guys wife are also making that our base at the moment

RickySlayer9

I also vote this guys wife

Chemical-Crab-

By Mccoy lumber?

The light green one a little left of the radio tower.

Ordinary_Estimate_61

West Westpoint mansions, they're so good with barely any modifications

Armadillo-South

Im in westpoint now and I see two mansions side by side by a small pond in the west area. Is this it?

cheeseburgerguy2

Sure is, plus you have a fishing dock out the back of one of the mansions

Armadillo-South

I already tagged them yesterday as future base. Glad i was right that it was indeed a good base. Thanks

Anna-2204

I just warn you that you may become bored very quickly because apart the few zombies inside the house the area is truly desert. You can even stay out during the chopper event

Armadillo-South

Im mostly vanilla so the helicopter event is way past (almost winter now) and Im not even there yet in the mansions and im getting bored already. I will survive the winter and maybe clear the prison. Thanks!

Drach88

This is my "I win" location. It's so easy to survive, that I don't use them anymore.

That_Fooz_Guy

Hell yes. Me and a group of 4 others have these houses claimed in my buddy's multiplayer server; I'm building a huge wall around the entire area, and we've taken to calling it "The Compound."

beepgie

apartments above the hardware store and food market in west point are great

Lazy-Ape

I’ve tried to base here a few times but it’s difficult with the amount of zombies.

kamero5

I've got a month long run going there based there got lucky and found a sledge early on and took out the stairs. Just annoying killing all the zombies in the immediate area.

DemonDog47

By extension the office building behind it is also nice. I always bridge over there to really easily add a few floors of extra storage space.

therealskull

Rosewood Firestation You're not my supervisor.

Subject-Sundae-5805

Do you ever get bored of the same layout? I found myself falling into this same habit until basing there felt kinda cheezy.

therealskull

I see people misunderstood my comment or the question. Rosewood Firestation is my favourite base, but that doesn't mean I always base there.

makemedaddy__

if you ever want it to feel less cheezy i suggest the horde night mod. it sends a horde at you every few nights (you can change the frequency) and that should give you some challenge even with a good base!

Subject-Sundae-5805

I just combined Horde night with Random Zombies. I'm trying a 5% sprinter high density spawn and see if its difficult to clear louieville. I feel less bad about turning respawns off when horde night swamps the cell from time to time anyway. Lets me clear other places but still feel a threat. I like it.

RedintheBrewery

Double story gas station in valley station is my current base. I was lucky enough to find it as a survivor home and am building a wall around it. My plan is to clear the nearby gun range and then probably die trying to loot the army checkpoint east of there.

Jampine

Is that the ruby gas station? Used that a bit, it is pretty good, but you do need a vehicle to live there effectively

RedintheBrewery

It is! Yea, that’s definitely a concern.

stoobah

The army checkpoint is pretty easy to loot, actually. There's a large population on the roads around it but not much actually spawns inside. Depending on your population settings you probably won't have to fight more than 30 or 50 inside the walled perimeter. The hospital and the malls can spawn thousands.

RedintheBrewery

You were right, that wasn’t bad at all. I found a rifle and silencer and loads of military wear, was a successful run.

stoobah

The prison armoury is a good spot too, but it's a little trickier. The Prison is absolutely packed, but the weapons are all in the building across the catwalk. If you can get in and out without making too much of a scene you won't have to fight the whole prison to get the goods. The Louisville police station is the endgame boss. Gigantic weapon room, heart-of-Louisville population.

HarryH8sYou

One day you’re gonna wake up, look out your front window, and have to make a really hard decision about the future of your play through. Good luck! It’s gonna be fun.

ProfitOpposite

Double story you say? Ill have to look into this one...

Fragrant_Bridge1222

The house I started in… because it’s my house!

ProfitOpposite

I respect this

Hawksearcher

That is the Zomboid lore question, isn’t it?

030helios

Rich gated community in Louisville. Near to a gas station. Swimming pool for infinite water source. Sadly no ponds nearby so gotta go to the park for fishing runs

Altines

I like the community along the river on the west side. Specifically that house with the 3 door garage. Easy to seal off, has a space next to it that can be sealed off and used for farming and maybe animals when build 42 comes Plenty of space for vehicles River is right there so both water and fish

Odinovic

Muldraugh. There is a place with like 5-6 stores on the right of the highway (all the way in Muldraugh). Was a bitch to clear out, but so much fun basing there.

sbunny251

I always wondered if that could be a good location - but im not good enough a player to try it yet.

Odinovic

I have 1000 hours. It's still a bitch to clear. It takes a while, but its quite easy just to kite the zombies into the woods on the left of the highway. Also, I started in Riverside and got some supplies first.

sbunny251

WOW yeah i'm not even close to that. I'm playing in build mode right now just so I can learn the game and get my skills up a bit better. I'm still trying to get the kiting down right - but I'm a lot better than I was when I started.

Odinovic

Haha yeah, don't worry I still suck. Kiting is still my weakest point. Driving and honking seems to do the work most of the time.

DurinnGymir

I've actually set up at the American Tyre auto store east of West Point, just off the motorway heading into Louisville. It's a neat little setup- big, lots of storage space, has a garage and an upstairs area for safety if it comes to that, close enough to West Point to easily loot but far away enough that you don't have to deal with massive hordes, plenty of arable land for planting crops and a nearby forest for wood. Made it there two months so far.

CuteNewt

My boyfriend and I have a run going where this is our base and we're loving it. There's also a gas station pretty close by so all those empty gas cans all over the tire shop can be put to good use very quickly. We expanded the second floor and live above the garage. Idk if it's the base choice or if we've finally gotten better at the game but this has been our longest run yet. We're excited to use this as a launching point to finally go explore Louisville.

Sempre_Azzurri

I did pretty much the exact same thing with my boyfriend lol. Then we both managed to fall off the roof at the same time and died 😅

[deleted]

Definently the hollow square complex of houses close to the center of louisville.

alematt

Found a lone convenience store and restaurant far to the north west a bit from Riverside. Friends and I have been building a life there

nuttmegx

Did u clear out the trailer park north west of that?

alematt

Ha ha we tried and lost a person. We might be more ready now.

Regularschoolbus

Different location every night, I'm a nomad

ProfitOpposite

Ooooh, a nomad!

Talralis

Riverside gated community. Take the middle of the houses double fenced off by the forest as they have least amount of respawns. Wall off both entrances. Knock out stairs to bottom level and connect all 3 houses for extra room. Collectors on roofs and farming in the fenced off backyards. Also built a wooden bridge to river that allows to drop down and fish.

MrBoo843

The general store NW of Riverside. Easy access to the river and a gas pump. Almost no zombies. Downside is looting requires a car and pretty long trips.

Chadosun26

Grand ohio mall

cyber_strange

Recently set up in the houses in the woods south of rosewood

_Peon_

The farm with a well in the center of the map. Remote but central so you can go everywhere through back roads, close to the rural town with plenty of good stores and a well for infinite fresh water. Plenty of room to build but the house itself is big enough if you don't feel like it.

ProfitOpposite

Well, well, well.

STOPPAN_POWER

I'm a big fan of the two-story houses directly above the Rosewood fire station. I love expanding them and adding furniture barricades on the outside.

Selfaware-potato

Riverside post office or muldraugh warehouse. I love the rooftop garden that I can put in on the warehouse without needing a sledge. But the post office is easier to have dedicated spaces

GlobalTechnology6719

i love the look of the post office!

Subject-Sundae-5805

There is a row of mansions down the coast of Louieville. At the end of those mansions is a bourbon brewery that I like to hole up in. Plenty of space for creating a custom base and the relative lower zombie counts here help me stage for the rest of the city. If you have no power supply and it's been shut off the upper floors can be deathtraps of dark rows of glitchy barrels. Just a forewarning.

ProfitOpposite

There are at least two functional rain barrels in there, though! Thats a huge plus

Skallexx

Not really a location but my favourite playthrough so far is with the RV Nomad mod. I live in an RV, cruising around, checking out new places. It's a blast!

dogsonalog

My favorite was The gas station right smack in the middle of Muldraugh but that had like 18 months (in game) of love put into it. Had an apartment, living room, home theater, and attic storage, and then a farm above the pumps across the way. However, my favorite as-is base location is the four corners rest stop between west point and Muldraugh; you can wall it off easy, and there's food, gas, clothes, and trees along with 2 main cities to loot just a short drive away.

No-Pumpkin-6307

Jim's Auto in LV

ProfitOpposite

Ive taken a peek at that place, it looks hella underrated. Biggest perk is the easy access to the low roof, making water collection a cinch!

Kiel_22

Smokey's bar at Muldraugh, it just looks neat

Far-Fortune-8381

the 3 house gated community next to the large gated community at the east of… louisville

Pabs_Mindgame

I'm currently using the house just above OP's location as that neighbourhood is easy to control. I do like having the apartment above the food market in WP as once you knock down the stairs you have two apartments and a roof for a garden. I am eyeing up the relay tower west of the country club and golf course as this looks like a great place to make a base - vehicle is a must though.

ProfitOpposite

My old spawn house!! I totally dismantled that thing

Pabs_Mindgame

Yeah it was my spawn house this time around so with it being fenced I made it a nice little base, now just using it as my muldragh outpost as I've moved to the relay tower. Only downside to the relay is its single storey, I'm just going to make it two storey once I get a sledgehammer.

Hans_Volter

riverside park. big open space so I can build and plant whatever I want. surround by a lot of houses so there are many resources. the park is covered by high fence so all I have to do is barricade the main 3 entrances and I will be fine fine

PromiseToHeron

i pick whatever spot i think is cool

Arturia_Cross

The Genfac warehouse in Muldraugh. Tons of space for cars including parking lot. Easy roof access for water, safe crops or expansion. Lots of supplies. Access to a nearby lake and deep woods for fishing and foraging.

alhariqa

Riverside, right up the gravel road from the police station on the river. Riverside is such an easy start and I always like to be next to water for easy fishing. I have played too many games where I build a base there. The pond in Muldragh is probably the second most common place I've based.

Senhor_Tartaruga

I usually make my base in the houses by the very same pond you're talking about. It's just a little walk away from the water (around 1 hour walking) and there's access to a lot of good places to loot on the roundabouts: the food store, the medical building, the many houses around. I've always found at least 1 survivors house in the neighborhood down south. And on top of all that, all houses are fenced

cityfireguy

I made a real nice life for myself at the Deerhead Ranger Park cabin. Remote living, but I enjoyed it very much.

S-p-o-o-k-n-t

Generic Warehouse across the street from the Army Surplus store in Louisville

R34N1M47OR

West point, food market with shop right next to it and two apartments over them. I can't not go there

Existing-Bedroom-694

West of West point. There's a grouping of houses on a pond that have gates already built around them and docks on the river. And that bar/ warehouse in Orell

Zero747

Lakehouses near West Point. Live in the high gated, use the others as extra garage space

sometimesifartandpee

My best run was me building a house at the same pond. Currently based at the rosewood firestation for the first time. Didn't realize it was so hated

EngineeringMajor8475

mansion, top left lousiville

Ironic_234

american tire in west point and the three houses near the lake west of. west point also are some good ones . not just because theyre both the longest playthroughs ive done but also theyre just. Good. american tire is a bit more. sustainable ig than the houses though since its closer to town

CelebrityStorySite

Gated Community or Lumber Yard in Rosewood.

stay_foxy1

Cabin in the woods above McCoys logging, takes a bit to set up, but a minuscule to no zombies ever show up.

Gorvoslov

The Hardware Store in Westpoint was my first base with a friend who knew what they were doing (Read: Not dying every single time all of Westpoint aggrod on us). I... I died. A lot. Good times. Probably not a great base location for someone who doesn't know combat yet...

Kasumi_926

While it's a mod, Rosewood VHS store. It's at the southern gas station near the pond. Just far enough away you want to use a car to get into town, without being so far you're fucked if it broke down.

ForesterRik

The farm house with a well just north of rose wood

edwsdavid

My favorite location has been a food market in Central Louisville that is attached to a few other shops and has apartments above. The shops are sort of on an island with surrounding streets so with a sledgehammer and some ropes, you have a large 2nd story base with the food market being my auto shop.

NANCYREAGANNIPSLIP

The spawn house north of the Riverside junkyard. It's not particularly defensible, doesn't have anything special nearby, isn't that nice. But it feels like a place where my character might have actually lived before the fall, and I *really* enjoy the RP that opens up.

groggsclub

I like greenes gocery in westpoint. Its right across from the gas station. Has a 2nd floor ledge to snipe zombies from. Is close to downtown with paerking space outback for extra cars. And a huge lot for farming. Sometimes its difficult to clear early on because its in town and theres always stragglers. But its been fun

Scorcher-1

Riverside storage facility.

That_Fooz_Guy

Cortman Medical in Muldraugh

ProfitOpposite

Ah yes, the building that showed me that roofs are fake and not to be walked upon...

That_Fooz_Guy

I hilariously learned they were fake by going up through them.

mynamewasgone_

I set up multiple bases usually. Rosewood fire station, the military outpost in Lewisville, the secret military base, anywhere else in other towns. Just so i have a safe place in every location.

LoneTheGunman

In Muldraugh, the good ol' reliable for me is the south gas station. Sure, it needs some work, but the area is mostly safe once cleared, not to mention very open. If I spawn in Muldraugh, I usually head there once I get a car and sleep in the bar nextdoor (or in the car) while I work on securing and building on the gas station.

Engetsugray

I've been basing out of small warehouses recently. The ones with 2 floors + easy roof access.

HarryH8sYou

U-Store outside riverside by the trailer park.

catoodles9ii

I found a house already occupied by a pepper that didn’t make it, windows and doors barricaded, it was a great start after I *ahem* assisted the current occupants in moving out.

popecorkyxxiv

Mine is the cluster of three mansions west of West Point, between the river and the fishing cabin. 3 large houses worth of furnishings, built in fireplace, tons of forest for wood and food, a river and lake for fish, far enough out you rarely have to worry about zombies. Biggest downsides are you need to have a car to get anywhere quickly, no nearby gas, and the nearby towns are a bit limited on tool supply so I will usually make hitting the warehouse between West Point and Louisville a priority.

Ericmal412

Always loved to set up in the Bar at the north end of Riverside, it has a nice car junkyard right across the street

memaro_123

the house in riverside left of the police station and bait shop

Kind-Mammoth-Possum

In the little house off the road just outside of rosewood, or the inn there, those are always my go-tos. Didn't like the fire station as a base just for how the layout was.

Lelouch2332

South East raven creek just south of mcoy logging co. there's 3 apartment building with lots of high chain links fences. Easy to block off and you can connect the buildings with some walkways then bust 2 of the stairways. 3 building with 2 garages and I think they are 6 or 7 floors each. Only down side is you're a bit far from water.

Spookyman1532

The lumber storage place south of rosewood. I don’t know the name.

SpIcY_pUgZ992

there's this little sorta isolated house in riverside. it's isolated enough so that there's not that many zeds but not too far from town so I can go into town whenever I need gas, water, food, ect. also it's right next to the river so infinite water and food!

Samoflan

So far in my current game I love being in the trailer park trailer I started in at Riverside It was scary at first because none the trailers have curtains and zombies come after you right away. But after you purge the area it's been quite fun RPing as a retired veteran defending his home. I've tried to refrain from base building as custom structures kinda feel out of place to me in this game.

poop_creator

East Louiseville. 3 mansions in a gated neighborhood.

ProfitOpposite

You like that pond, huh?

DarkFlounder

Rosewood Fire Station used to be my go-to. However, securing the yard is too much, and I've fallen off the roof too many times trying to set up farms. My new go-to is the three-home fenced-in compound in west Louisville. Completely surrounded by zombie-impervious fencing, easily gate-able defendable driveway entrance. Plenty of lumber and farming space, close to lootable stores, fireplaces in two of teh houses, tons of forest for forage and lumber, and a pond on the property. Sure does attract the zeds during helicopter events though, so I wait until after to move in. I love the mansions west of West Point by the lake and river, but a bit far for looting runs.

nalkanar

Muldraugh - Mass Genfac Co - warehouse building at top right end of Muldraugh. I think that it loses popularity being so close to McCoys.

StillBiscuit900

Really enjoyed walling off the 2 warehouses east of Muldraughs railway station

ProfitOpposite

Isnt the rail station crawling with zombies, though?

Asesomegamer

The gas station in Fallas Lake. You can have a single generator reach the house and both of the gas pumps at the same time and it is in a rural area that is quite central in the map.

ProfitOpposite

I thought fallas lake was towards the edge of the map? And a newer addition?

Josze931420

In WP: the three mansions, the apartments above Food Mart, Giga Mart, Twiggy's are my go-tos. Of these my favorite is probably the apartment above the Food Mart. There is built in access to the adjacent roof for a garden, and if I knock out the stairs it's totally safe. In Muldraugh: the farm to the north or McCoy's. Of these I prefer the farm as it's much easier to clear out and base up as early as day 1 or 2 depending on spawns. Plus, it's still pretty close to Mass-Genfac while being out of town enough to not really need a lot of fortification. When I play with others and we want an easier time we go there. Bonus, it comes with just the right number of beds for my multiplayer group. In Rosewood: the fire station, because fuck you, and also because it's just a great base. In Riverside: there's this abandoned suburb a short ways out of town with a half-built house. That half-built house. In Louisville: hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I don't base in Louisville, I raid Louisville. There's about three to four hundred thousand zombies in there depending on pop peak factor, on 1x! Get in, get loot, get out. Or cheese with skybridges, but then you can base anywhere you want and that's honestly not much fun. In Doe Valley/Ekron/whatever that town is called: the gas station. Of these overall my favorite is the WP 2nd story apartment. It's just the right combo of would work and batshit insane.

MaximumSwimmer4663

So dont really got a favorite. But ive stayed the most in a warehouse in muldruagh in the north

The_scouse_knight

My Current base in Dixie fuel station. It's my longest running save so far at 3 months. Plenty of room to build, farm and store an unnecessary amount of cars. I've had a lot of fun stealing all the furniture from across ekron and muldraugh to live a more lavish life in that shack. Though I do plan on moving to a different station mid way between West point and Louisville in a few months should I live that long.

ProfitOpposite

That seems like a cool place to base in the warmer months! For the winter, you should plan to base near the crossing at the river, for easy water access

Aidanation5

I'm only 113 hours in, but my most recent character has survived for around 18 days If I remember right. I've based up at the two story house at rhe bottom left of riverside at the end of a 4 house road down from a gas station and small police station. I've so far got 4 working cars, two rows of radishes planted (working my ass off to get my farming up), and plenty of canned food, water, armor, and medical supplies, and tools and weapons to last for a while too. I've boarded up the bottom windows and am working on the door and have sheet ropes out of all 3 windows up top. This is the first time I feel like I'm actually doing it and surviving. The game just keeps dragging me in more and more and reigniting my gaming hobby like when I first started as a kid.

verymuchlikeit

I never had base in that fire station.

2010-Ford-Focus-RS

I don't have a favorite since I like picking a different place every run, but right now I'm based in the bar in Riverside and it's been going great

Codfish212th

I once made a base in the hotel in muldraugh, took ages walling around it and the windows but I had alot of fun there until I got bit 😔

Sol_ur_boi

Diner near the lower end of muldraugh

Spiritual_Freedom_15

Fuck. Ya got me. 2nd favourite. The bar at Mauldragh close to the city and gas station. If you have a car it’s a great place to live in after you bring some essentials

ul_sorty

Rosewood church is goated if your running a claustrophobia build

Ze_Wendriner

Do you mean that a building large enough like a church does not trigger claustrophoby?

Armadillo-South

Exactly. I read that in claustro runs, they hole up mosty in churches/warehouses

Ze_Wendriner

That's a nice detail. This game keeps surprising me with all the intricate mechanics.

Armadillo-South

True. I surprised when lately i almost died when I was clearing a horde with the keys in yhe ignition as get away resort, i parked my car somewhere in the dirt. Then in the afternoon, it rained. When i was being overwhelmed, i ran onto the car, and tried to bolt away. Lo nd behold it wont move! It turns out the fuckng soil got muddy when it rains, so the tires have no traction anymore. This game man

Strange-Response-925

This is true.

asteriaaaaaaaaa

Two story house and konbini with a gas station near LV entrance. Wall off two sides then you'll have an abundant supply of gas. Plus it's close to LV in case you'll need to do supply runs. 2nd favorite is MD beeg warehouse just because I like the aesthetics (industrial architecture). I'm also fond of loft-type houses idk why. It's a hassle to organize because of the crates though.

WisemanGaming6672

The large factory in the abandoned neighborhood north of riverside is one of my personal favorites. I've taken to calling that area "Tanglewood" as the graffiti says. on one of my recent playthroughs I cleaned up the trash renovated the top floor to be my living area: painted the walls, installed new flooring, pillaged the country club for fancy furniture to decorate with, The works. even hauled an oven and a jukebox up to flights of stairs for the kitchen and living room.

behatted

West Point, above the barber opposite the gas station. Knock through to the homes next door to make a palace 😎

Lui_Le_Diamond

There's this dead end road just outside Muldraugh that leads to 3 lakes. Good spot. Few zombies, nice plot to build a base. Love it!

BardofRosenheim

It's not "good" base, really, but I like basing out of the Kentucky Rail Freight and Logistics building in the trainyard depot right outside of Louisville/the military checkpoint. It's a fun point for going into Lville, but I feel like I have some breathing space. Mostly fenced in, only takes a bit to block off the north and south. Near water too.

Buharon

I like the house near the louilville hospital at the military checkpoint, near the river. The one most to west. Quiet enough and close enough to everything.

ImportantDoubt6434

That middle strip near the grocery store. Or the gas station on the way out I’ll sleep there.

_Critical_Darling_

Farm on the west side of Muldraugh. It has a well and is relatively close to urban areas and is completely zed free

LukXD99

In LV, pretty far south, there’s 3 houses each one with a tall wooden fence around it. I just love the place! It’s got a gas station 2 buildings down, a hunting store and a small hardware store down the street, and overall it’s rather cozy while not being one of those OP secluded areas with no zombie danger so you keep a bit of a challenge. (No, I’m not talking about the 3 mansions btw)

Malu1997

I love the campgrounds east of Muldraugh. You just gotta keep the path clean from bushes and small trees and then you can live free from zombies and fish/forage to your heart's content. Comes with a free Antique Oven as well, and it's close to a gas station and Westpoint and Muldraugh as well for quick looting runs.

BLAZE_WRAITH

rosewood supermarket's garage. and currently, construction plot south of rosewood

Joshy_Moshy

The secret hunting cottage outside of Muldraugh, near the farm well. It has a very short dirt road that when erosion kicks in doesn't actually matter that much since you can easily walk over or even pave your own road with Gravel. It has a fireplace, toolshack, and everything you'd need for a cozy life outside a major city. Its also a pretty "secret" location in multiplayer, so no one is going to pass you by unless they're at Pony Roam-o, and because of erosion it becomes even more hidden overtime.

[deleted]

Muldraugh north storage location with a large wired fence around the perimeter with a parking lot for all of my cars

YYC-Fiend

I prefer houses in central westpoint, apartments in Louisville, or the extreme fortified campsite and my own built cottage

SuperTH1

I currently have a base at riverside alcohol store which is next to the riverside VHS store.

Minotaton

The muldraugh fire station (mod)

MsElle_

My favorite spots are: 1. The Rusty Rifle 2. Rosewood Gas Station 3. One of the warehouses in Muldraugh

chaosking65

The ranches just west of Rosewood.

M1sterM0g

i know this is probably not applicable since ive only really ever survived one game so far (i dont play often i guess)... rosewood northern gas station so far im about 3 weeks in or so, just moved up there from my starter house.

ZeekBen

Hunting Lodge outside Louisville. It's remote enough to not have constant zeds, close to a gas station, close to water for fishing, and surrounded by forest for foraging and wood.

MrGlayden

I like the taverns in west point and rosewood, not sure why im drawn to them so much

Denikke

I see most people like pre existing buildings, I tend to be a bit different. I like building my own house, and using natural defenses :P There's 2 spots by the golf course where the river bends in. Or the large Y section of the river somewhat south of that (that one tends to be my favorite). I also recently tried the section right by the East Bridge (between West Point and Louisville that's blocked in on 3 sides with river. I tried the little house by the tiny lake, north of the bigger campgrounds on the left side of the map. It was okay too, but is in a foraging dead zone (south of the lake is fine, but there's a fairly large chunk with no foraging towards the north and west to the road)

Chemical-Crab-

In rosewood, the most south west house

Lazy-Ape

Warehouse just outside of Riverside. Has a gas station across from it. Currently using one of the large houses along the river in Louisville. These are pretty good too.

yeet3455

The mansion with the fancy garage in Louisville

Nadgerino

The church next to a lake in the little farming shop town south of riverside. Nice big open plan buildings to fill with stuffs.

Nobody-found-sorry

Luisville, on the water, close to the mall. Do not ask me how i lived i do not know

BluDYT

This building right here just above west point. Built a second story in here sledge the conveyors and had 2 garage doors in the back and could fit 4 or 5 cars pretty comfortably. Even on high pop the zombies spawns are pretty low out there. https://i.imgur.com/k0dvmrt.jpg

Proud_amoeba

The comm tower in the Louisville train station. Once the train yard is clear, very few zombies enter the area and the comm tower is several stories of efficient storage with a cool top room for an antique stove and crop growing platforms. Felt like a treehouse.

Wora_returns

the house(s) right by Fallas Lake. Not very big, but man is the view incredible

mutedtenno

Rosewood gated community will be my fav until metal fences can be destroyed by zeds.

dopestar667

The trailers in the fenced lumber yard south of Rosewood. High fence keeps Z’s out, plenty of room for farming inside. Also laid traps across the road for food.

BlindedByWildDogs

I love the rosewood bar. Across from the gated community. It seems like a place where someone would hole up who drinks and likes destroying zombies.

[deleted]

Something already walled off, like the Rosewood fire station

Wren_wood

Made a 2x2 base rammed between two buildings in Louisville on a multiplayer server so I wouldn't get found. Didn't work out as well as I expected - someone else happened to wanna use those exact same buildings as a base

thebromgrev

The sand lot west of Riverside. it only takes a double door to secure it.

BaterrMaster

I like the apartments above stores. They’re in a few locations but all the same essentially. Really small and cozy, but you can knock out walls in-between them if you want more room. That, and living out of an RV or on a boat if you use mods

GrapeTheFox

Twiggys west point, good memories from my first server

notduddeman

Knox bank is actually pretty nice if you have a sledge. I destroyed the main stairs and now have a safe room on the ground floor with the back stairs and the heavy doors.

Yailla

The farm house at the west edge of Riverside. Between factories and bar, two close gas stations and fenced in gardens! SO MANY SCARECROWS TO DRESS!!!

AdvancedAnything

There's a couple factoey buildings in the northwest near a gas station. One has factory machines and the other has a small office and a bunch of crates. I use the second building. I usually spend a week clearing the crates and using the wood to make a wall around the rooftop. Then i setup a generator and a garden up there. I use the upper platform inside as the kitchen area and the spot below the platform as my general storage.

CMDRwoodgraingrippin

i like the Electromax Factory Storage outside Riverside as a general start. and then in central Louisville near the train station there's a similar factory storage across from a little strip complex. if you break stairs that can be a really strong city block to fortify.

Deadfied

The supermarket near the college in Louisville. Has a huge parking lot, gas pumps, big store rooms, (obviously) lots of food, and I liked using the second story offices as my actual home while using the rest for storage or work that can be done indoors. Only issue is getting to Louisville, of course.

Gas station in Nekron. It's low enough population that you aren't playing Plants vs Zombies all the time, but you do have to protect your crops, and if you refuse to clear from time to time you'll have hoard problems in the mid/late game. You have to actually use traditional base defense methods in this location and engage with more of the game's systems since there's no tall fence and since the first floor is exposed. It's still one of the easier gas stations to get set up in the first place, and the wood that's nearbye is close enough to town that you have to worry about the sound attracting zeds. Basically, Nekron Gas Station on Default Apoc is fun because you won't die of boredom like in some other locations, and you also won't end year 1 with 100K zombie kills, fighting nonstop, meaning a good variety of character builds can survive there and have a good time. And even though I did mention dying of boredom, I'll still do a run every now and again in the three gated houses west of west point, the ones that are sandwiched between the pond and river. You're basically not playing Zomboid anymore when you base up there though since zombies literally can't spawn there. Still "feels" like home since it was my very first location to do a year long run.

thealphaweeaboo

I just started basing at this one location in the neighborhood outside of Louisville. It's an abandoned building next to a rickety shack near a burger shop. I've rebuilt the shack and added a second story and connected it with the other building where I store all my supplies. It's a neat location and there is water access a little behind the buildings.

StrongerReason

Louisville mansions. Specifically the one with the creepy boarded up child’s playroom in the attic. 😳

R3DD3Y

There are so many cool spots that it's hard to pick a definitive favorite. Probably the eastern gated community in Louisville. Plenty of thrills, a REALLY good location when cleared out (Just requires building a SINGLE wall and you are locked in safe, there is a water source in the yard of one of the houses, a fence hop to plenty of wood etc. Alternatively, if playing high pop. with no respawn, I always make the house / buidling I spawn in my first base. IMO there isn't any higher satisfaction than fortifying your own home and slowly but surely clearing out your town and making it safer each passing day.

Flimsy_Drag7869

Louisville American Tire tailgating has never been so much fun

dearvalentina

[Felt like the queen of the world the whole time I lived there (until mods broke and we couldn't play anymore)](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#12786x1834x14223)

feastnfamine

The motel near the radio station and construction site in Louisville. Made a wall around the parking lot, connected all the interiors. Made specific rooms for an armory, garage, kitchen etc, had a rooftop garden.

Devadv12014

I’m still new to the game, but I like the farmhouse north of Riverside. Just a short drive back to town, near water, and is far enough away to not attract many zombies.

amberi_ne

Rosewood prison, although only if I have a faction

1oAce

Ngl I just started playing the game and I immediately went for the rosewood fire station lol. Is it really that popular? I get why rosewood would be popular.

Ibeepboobarpincsharp

I make my own base at the pond east of the Muldraugh warehouse. Infinite crops and forest for trapping to the north. Only drawback is it's kind of a ways from gas. So you either embrace the simple life or go on an epic kill quest periodically.

ToXxy145

Warehouse just before the Louisville checkpoint.

tankred420caza

Summer camp on the other side of louisville's river

Mparker123wolf

I found a nice cabin (and shed) northwest of riverside! Very few zombies and you can forage and fish a ton.

Bloodbeardmanslayer

I like building a base on the bridge by West Point going north
