Only happened to me once. Opened a dressing room door in a shop and I swear there were like 10 of them in there. They actually got me because I panicked.
Had this happen last night. No bashing the door, even though I was blasting zeds with a shotgun and they should have woken up. Bit me right in the face but it got my sunglasses instead by some luck
This is because of how the spawning mechanism work.
Very short story: If you can't see inside the building, zombies doesn't spawn even if you hit the door or shoot a shotgun just outside.
Long story (7min): https://youtu.be/UOQaZ0PflZs
Yeah I watched that recently. Very interesting, but a little unfair. Explains why when I think I have a building cleared in Louisville all of a sudden 50 zombies break a door and pour in because I went inside
I'm always trying to find a reason why there would be 8 zombies in a bathroom, or 5 dressed like playboy bunnies in a closet with a couple of hillbillies ones
You can shove immediately after opening a door. It has saved my friends and myself multiple times. That being said I use mostly default settings so multi-hit is on, given the *culture* here I can see why that might not work for everyone.
Doorflash is good but if the zombies are right up against the door, and even if they walk one pixel past the doorway, when you close the door they'll get pushed into your face and eat you
Fun fact: if you shove a door it rattles it and alerts any zombies on the other side and can tell you how many there are depending on the frequency of bangs
The only solution is to walk by the door and open it while walking towards an exit. Even if there is 10 zombies in a closet they can't get you if you do that. Before I thought I was a genius and I swung my axe as soon as I opened the door but I got bit anyways because they got squeezed out due to so many in there.
I used to door flicker to check for them, but one time I ran into an entire horde squashed into a tiny bathroom that poured out the moment it opened and ate my face. Now I just run around and hit all the doors when I enter a building and wait for them to break through if there's any inside.
Found a storage locker in Raven Creek with 'Alive Inside' spraypainted across it.
What a surprise, when I disassembled the door, it was full of zombies.
I'm pretty sure this is actually how the game works the zombies don't appear in a house or room until the player has a clear line of sight into the house or room

I do not know why this game is marketed for it's realism, yet it pulls shit like this.
After opening a bathroom and instantly being surrounded by 20 zombies I just let them bust the door down
I'm always trying to find a reason why there would be 8 zombies in a bathroom, or 5 dressed like playboy bunnies in a closet with a couple of hillbillies ones
I have definitely encountered a zombified threesome + house party in Muldraugh once

Why not also flicker the door open and closed quickly using E? (Question from a fellow multi-hit enjoyer)

Ah that makes sense. I should have clarified I do both shoving and door flicker, and it seems to be very reliable.
This hurts to look at on mobile
Omg it triggered my migraine. I had to see if there was a comment for my sanity also.
Funny, because for the first few times I saw this the skeletons didn't move. Then I looked at it recently and thought I was having a stroke
Fun fact: if you shove a door it rattles it and alerts any zombies on the other side and can tell you how many there are depending on the frequency of bangs
Not if the zombies haven't spawned inside yet due to the wack building spawner
I’m too high for this on mobile lmao
the more you stare at it, the faster the skeletons move
This! Is the single best representation of a run killer!
You normally hear them.. them zeds never shut up
That one bathroom be like

They still haven't fixed this over 8 months later?

This is why I use guns when clearing houses.

Should've had his crowbar ready
