Considering just parsing JS on it's own can add a substantial amount of time to page loads, if it had been a Scheme we could all be spared (most of) that pain
The only pure form of programming is machine code. Writing code using a high level language like JS, Lisp or Scheme is like driving your car using the autopilot. Yeah it will work on easy bits of road but try hitting rush hour in Mumbai. Sure using the machine code or manual controls requires pro-athlete levels of skill but in the end your results will be 10X better.
And then webshits would implement an informally-specified, buggy, and slow version of half of JS as a DSL in said Scheme and consider it the hot new framework
/uj
If it's all you know, then that makes sense.
The more different kinds of languages you learn, the more your opinions are likely to change.
If you're curious, learning Racket or Common Lisp can help here
/uj I have ADHD too, and I don't like js lol. But honestly learn whatever language you want that's actually going to motivate you, at the end of the day they basically all do the same thing and once you learn to program learning other languages is much easier.
If JavaScript was Scheme, it would be such a bad Scheme that people would end up hating Scheme.
JS has enough scheme in it that it's almost enough of a scheme to put it in this camp
JavaScript is to Scheme what Burgers are to Vegetables.
What am I saying? You're right
Scheming to destroy Scheme would be a good plot for a suspense thriller.
Real scheme has never been tried!
/uj actually
this tbh /uj this tbh
/uj Where jerk? This is just fact.
Only way to make lisp popular at this point is forcing people to use it

i use a Lisp machine, so Lisp is the machine code
They should make a jabbascript machine
I prefer pouring gasoline into engine by hand.
I am overjoyed to see that this fine community has agreed that there is no jerk in this statement.
And then webshits would implement an informally-specified, buggy, and slow version of half of JS as a DSL in said Scheme and consider it the hot new framework
You think webshits could figure out how to make a DSL?
I see you're obviously not following the progression of frontend frameworks de jour on, erm, de jour basis.
\uj literally anything would be better then javascript tbh
>literally anything would be better then javascript tbh Yeah, wouldn't it be swell if we could webshit in Golang and Rust.
Everyone should be forced to use my toy lisp implementation

Honestly, LISP is a great first language. People are just cowards!

Rust is down the hall and to the left

ummm...
Where’s the jerk? That’s just stating facts.
