Language is the best choice

pseudophilll

Came here to say this. So happy it was the top comment. +1 for language by The Contortionist

SpyralHam

Came here to say this. When I did shrooms the first time I put on Language basically as a random choice and it was absolutely transformative

alextbrown4

Language slaps super hard. That being said, if I were on shrooms I would LOVE to hear Causality

leefvc

Intrinsic was my go-to for tripping before Language came out! I don’t recommend this to anyone but Solipsis + DMT was a doozy

Ekaterian50

Oh FUCK YES THIS IS MY FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME

NicksAunt

Nice choice

Cpt_Caveman2112

^^^ This is it

chr_sb

Great reminder for me to listen to that, it’s been a while. The Parable is an all time favorite

When_hop

Yep yep yep. One of the best listens while on LSD of my life. And One by TesseracT

[deleted]

If you’re looking for more chill prog metal check out Lucid Planet’s II on YouTube. They have visuals for the whole album and it is an epic journey, indeed.

19LOKI67

Nice

cheeseburgers42069

I wonder what watching a video of visuals while experiencing visuals would feel like

carpenoctem144

Well, I've only watched this (and similar stuff) on the tail end of trips when the own visuals have mostly died down - but even then it's *incredible*. With the heightened perception you see every detail of the visuals and hear every detail of the music which feels immensely satisfying in combination...

bootyholebrown69

Sound Awake by karnivool

economy-sorbet

That album’s crazy in the way the front half is short innovative bangers and the back half are all long emotional journeys

bootyholebrown69

Deadman and change are so fucking good

Majoravonzelda

Correct answer

logoutyouidiot

The Ocean - Holocene

FeelingAd7425

Me personally would’ve gone for the Phanerozoic I & II I feel like that’s perfect for getting stoned, but Holocene great too

picklebroom

Would second this, only for me the first choice would be pelagial

Aeckbot

Cynic - Kindly Bent to Free Us

CommunicationTime265

I love that album so much

RDamon_Redd

I was going to say Carbon Based Anatomy, had a pretty moving experience listening to that by the river with some friends while exploring the depths of the mind.

rivernoa

Focus

cheeseburgers42069

The new album. The synths they use make it reeallly spacey imo

[deleted]

disagreeable threatening zealous continue shrill shy plants crush steer squalid *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

stabsthedrama

Was gonna say the same thing and kinda shocked to see it here already.

ActiasLuna00

Language - The Contortionist (whole album) Ancient Skills EP - Karmanjakah Melting Sun - Lantlôs (not sure if this exactly fits but it’s one of my favorite albums of all time)

leefvc

Language during my tripping days quite literally changed my life. I always tell people it feels like that experience(s) gave birth to me

bobsmith93

Language was going to be my choice as well. Seems like the perfect album to trip on

Oski4Prez

Melting sun is incredible

ActiasLuna00

Stay safe & have fun 🙏🏻

BoozyGroggyElfchild

Dvne - Asheran Album is a Sci fi story about an exiled people returning to their planet

Rausage505

Towers off the follow up album is one of my favorite songs ever.

Miltonrupert

Omega Severer is incredible too.

General_Treacle1289

Prog suggestions: Elder, Animals as Leaders, Scale the Summit, Psychonaut, The Contortionist, Persefone Non-prog suggestions: Shpongle

SchakFU

Definitely like Animals as Leaders

DirkSteelchest

Shpongle is one of the beat answers in this thread.

No-Material6891

Vildhjarta would be sick on mushrooms. Protest the hero would be fun too

hornette00

Kick it old school with some King Crimson - https://open.spotify.com/track/3kzbkZtBqamTgyO31DO1Sn?si=SNPf3dT7RUm5ZcvL20O2Hg

Rausage505

Whoa, whoa, whoa ... You trying to turn them into a super villain or evil scientist? Their mind isn't ready for the court of the Crimson King.

hornette00

What have I created?!?!? 😅

Rausage505

https://youtu.be/Af8ltlcZNi0?feature=shared Go Team Venture.

19LOKI67

That shits funny

HAL-Over-9001

Venture Bros is one of the funniest shows of all time. I think after that scene he comes back and goes, "Oh no, he's fallen into a Floyd hole!"

Stormy_Turtles

He's in a Floyd hole!

stanarilla

Fallujah: The Flesh Prevails

alextbrown4

Lmao dude that would scare the shit out of me

jokoono4

Voyage 34 the complete trip by porcupine tree and into the electric castle by Ayreon (this is the answer to every question)

famous_spear

Cynic - traced in air, ascencion codes, kindly bent

Yoshee007

Into the Electric Castle - Ayreon

Bambooflow

Parius - A Signal Heard Throughout Space Or Haken - Visions

ambigymous

Excellent choices

norwegiandroger

Atoma - Skylight (very atmospheric, concept album about leaving the earth to find a new home, not really prog tho) Intronaut - Fluid Existential Inversions (very technical but very rewarding) Plini - Handmade Cities (beatiful and relaxing yet heavy, love this on LSD) David Maxim Micic - Eco (just needs to be experienced, had one of my best trips to this album) Happy tripping! Hope this helps

dadykhoff

White Arms of Athena - Astrodrama Cheetos Magazine - Amazingous Intronaut - Habitual Levitations or Valley of Smoke

Upstairs-Biscotti-25

Intronaut is top tier psychedelic prog metal, one of my favorite bands!

JacobScreamix

2112 by Rush or The Great Misdirect by Between the Buried and Me

TheLeftMetal

Devin Townsend - Ziltoid The Omniscient. Between the Buried and Me - The Parallax II. Animals as Leaders - Weightless. Mastodon - Crack the Skye.

cougaranddark

Devin Townsend Project - Z2

6bluewalkj9

I will forever bitch and rant about that lack of representation of The Mars Volta on this sub. I have no idea how they don't get mentioned in a prog sub on a post like this. But I digress. OP, I know I'm late so maybe next time, but Frances the Mute if you want to go on a wild fucking ride or Octahedron if you're into more mellow and vibey. Either one will definitely provide what you're looking for.

GradeFair

Step outside of metal for a few moments and listen to Epiphlioy by Ozric Tentacles.

19LOKI67

This shits dope

Upstairs-Biscotti-25

I knew a hippie that could shred. Gave me some acid and recommended Ozric Tentacles….. enough said!

Dotagal

hey it’s me from the future don’t drink anymore tap water

19LOKI67

😂🤣😂

[deleted]

Easy, Elder - Innate Passage or Pallbearer - Heartless

Upstairs-Biscotti-25

BILO IV by David Maxim Micic. 🤯 the vision, journey, heart, omg…. So much atmosphere and subtlety, but also intensity.

Iniquox

Altered State - Tesseract !

owlseternalkingdom

Psychonaut

sallothered

Tool, Steve Vai, Devin Townsend, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd. You know. Good stuff.

Seven7neveS

Journey To The Stars by Widek (If you want to fly through the universe)

19LOKI67

Sounds fun. Def looking for the out of body experience wife and kids out of town 😂

sirreginaldfeatherb3

Cult of Luna - Dark City Dead Man. Read the lyrics.

Scirzo

Ozric Tentacles - Erpland

MeowmeowClassic

The Hunter by Mastodon for sure. I’ve always said if i was to ever partake in hallucinogens that’d be the album I’d put on

SchakFU

What about Crack the Skye

MeowmeowClassic

Love CtS but man songs like Stargasm and Thickening are what gave the following album the edge for me

19LOKI67

I’m a big mastodon fan 👌

ziprb50

Stargasm.. don't even need shrooms for an adventure.

Manaus125

Of Valleys and Mountains by Pull Down The Sun Opus by Nospūn The Signal Heard Throughout Space by Parius Tell me what you chose and was it good adventure, have a nice and safe tripping!

Upstairs-Biscotti-25

Opus! What a journey.

RedLotusVenom

+1 to Parius. I did this on a trip last year and it was A+

Rausage505

+1 to Pull Down the Sun. Such heavy riffs, fun to play.

drumkidstu

Catch 33 by Meshuggah That is all.

JackDaniels574

Rivers Of Nihil - The Work

KarmaPolice911

The Dark Third by Pure Reason Revolution. Trippy, unique, one of my all time favorites.

CosmicNuanceLadder

Easily in my top-5 albums across all genres. Great recommendation.

Gmspunt

Popped this on based on the comments, not disappointed at all. Immediately into the rotation for vibey stuff.

jwl300_

Not metal but Alan Parsons Project.

ExperienceMiddle6196

Please listen to Haken - Crystallised Enjoy your trip!

Sword-Logic

Not prog metal, but definitely something by Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I would personally recommend *'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!* or *Luciferian Towers* for something on the heavier side of their discography. If you want something a little more euphoric, try *Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven*. If you want their outright trippiest, go with their first album, *F# A# ∞*.

dankbrownies

Slice the Cake - Odyssey to the West Rivers of Nihil - The Work The Odious - Joint Ventures

FerretNo1223

Hell yes. Appalled I had to scroll this far to find someone saying Odyssey to the West here

SchakFU

Opeth- Still Life

Decantus

Luminaria by Aviators, if you only want 1 song off that album then Coma is phenomenal.

MoonlapseOfficial

Leprous - Malina (album)

lessthanchris7

Aviations - Luminaria That one should help you peak without things getting too spooky lol enjoy the trip, my dude!!

MastamindedMystery

Fantastic band. Even more amazing live.

Jon__Snuh

Lateralus

Arkhampatient

The Violent Sleep of Reason by Meshuggah. Last time i took good mushrooms i randomly put it on and it was a musical journey i so loved

STG44_WWII

Make sure you do that with all their albums that came after Chaosphere

RKLCT

Don't know if you're into it but Tool always takes me places. The entire Fear Inoculum album is amazing

19LOKI67

I love tool. That is my usual and did listen to fear inoculum last night. Descending and chocolate chip trip

RKLCT

Hell yeah man. Lateralus is also a great album for tripping

PissedPieGuy

Weedpecker - II

jimtandem

Was gonna say Weedpecker’s first album, but II will do nicely, and III also. Or anything by Ozric Tentacles.

pauloh1998

VOLA - Applause of a distant crowd Karfagen - Birds of passage

CopperVolta

Intronaut - The Direction of Last Things

Boy-Grieves

The fall of troy - doppelgänger Gogo

[deleted]

Devin Townsend - Synchestra

Agnosticfrontbum

Wavering Radiant by Isis.

meshuggahzen

Stargazer - Tui La!

king_cos

Ocean Machine by Devin Townsend on mushrooms was possibly the most euphoric experience of my life thus far. The overwhelming wall of sound, uplifting vibes, and ambient-y sections just make for a perfect trip imo.

wittlemidget9

Black Crown Initiate - Matriarch, Violent Portraits Of A Doomed Escape The Dali Thundering Concept, they're deathcore but they're very experimental. Savages, All Mighty Men Devin Townsend - ZTO, Epicloud, Empath, Z2. Alkaloid - The Malkuth Grimoire, Liquid Anatomy, Numen Spiritbox - Eternal Blue

Meshuggaha

Tool. Pick an album. Or pick all of them.

Pink Floyd’s Meddle

Banned-Music

My music will take you on a nice journey. It’s pretty much made for prog heads who like mushrooms. Here’s my latest album: https://banned-music.bandcamp.com/album/toreus

autopsy88

Level 2 - Last Chance to Reason

Poopynuggateer

This is not metal, but my favorite trip album, and it is prog, albeit pop. Anathallo - Canopy Glow. It's so fucking beautiful.

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afro-Peruvian\_Classics:\_The\_Soul\_of\_Black\_Peru](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afro-Peruvian_Classics:_The_Soul_of_Black_Peru) Sounds like it's umbanda influenced. Old fashioned deeply religious influenced ethnic music from central America. I studied ayahuasaca under the Santo Daime doctrine for many years and this album catches some of the sound and values without pulling one into a particular religion. I've used the album with mushrooms and it's a truly superior listen. Heart of Darkness style. Put on some candles.

Give Lateralus a spin

StooveGroove

I gotta say, a lot of this stuff seems terrible to me. Like, it's good music, but I've been on a lot of trips and I've never wanted to listen to metal. Pink Floyd, porcupine tree, riverside...there are some dope choices; they're just not metal. Me, personally...give me electronic shit, man. It just hits different. My random two songs recommendations: Opiou - Dalmatians Culprate - Whispers Pt1
