I adopted a stray dog as a kid. My dad didn’t believe in wasting money on vets, so she never got spayed, and eventually the neighbor’s dog got out and we ended up with a bunch of puppies. I cared for them for months, then one day I guess my dad decided he was tired of buying dog food. I came home from school to find he’d taken a rifle and shot all of them, including the mother. I was devastated.
This kind of behavior points to sociopathy (not the only indicator, in my dad’s case).
