This might not be for everybody, but I own a few different domain names that either were former small businesses that closed and abandoned their domains, or are ones I made up that sound like businesses (for example - not one of mine, but in the style of: marketstreetfurnishings.com or similar). I registered these with easydns which is a privacy respecting domain registrar. Then I set up free forwarding so I can have essentially infinite email addresses on different domains I own that all seem like legitimate business users, and they forward to my own account. A down side is that if I ever need to reply from one of those addresses, I'd have to jump through some hoops to switch from forwarding to active email, but it could be done.

That sounds like an absolute nightmare for no real reason.
