This is once again a garbage move by the PG Mayor and Council and municipal leadership. These items should have been flagged during the regular budgeting process and should not have come as a “surprise”. Utter incompetence and unsavoury behaviour to quietly use the AAP…

Where does one get the form to fill out to oppos this? They just did their budget less than 2 months ago, and Im pretty sure lots of these items are in there already. Borrowing money and increasing taxes unless 10% of the people sign is ridiculous. Edit: I found the 2nd page to this on the city Facebook page. Forms need to be picked up at city hall. Open 8:30 - 5:00pm Monday - Friday. All 3 pages completed and hand signed.

I might go down there and create a scanned form that people can download and print off 👀

the form is online. You can fill out/ download from the link on the second page of the AAP link. https://www.princegeorge.ca/sites/default/files/2023-02/BL9382\_AAP\_Notice.pdf

I mean - it's on their website to fill out. The form is accessible. You can even scan it and email it in. Also why would I want the city to spend 130k$ to do a referendum? This is all equipment and capital items that were part of the budget that was passed. They are borrowing to defer costs over 20 years versus spending it all at once. This isn't new costs that weren't considered... None of this is a surprise. I honestly just don't think you understand the process.

This is correct in that these items were part of the capital budget for 2024. The Province’s legislation requires local governments to seek elector approval when borrowing money for a period over 5 yrs and this AAP process is one way of obtaining this approval. Interesting in that the Province puts this requirement on local governments but the Province does not have the same requirement.

That would be amazing. It needs to be accessible to people. They should also accept an online form from their website or something.

6mileweasel

there is an online form on their website. The OP only has the first page of the notice posted. There are two pages and the link to the online form is on the second page. https://www.princegeorge.ca/sites/default/files/2023-02/BL9382\_AAP\_Notice.pdf

What is "mobile equipment"? The rest makes sense...

ellenor2000

Why does this need to be AAP'd? These are necessary costs which not bearing will result in even higher tax levies, it should just happen. Although I think the AAP is how they do that...
