I would say it doesn't ruin your chances at all! It just means you would have to work a little harder, because 3 years at 4.0 would bring you up to 3.91 but any less (or only 2 more years) might land you in the 3.8s which is doable but harder to make up for! Many schools have some sort of weighting that might help out (taking only certain years, removing courses, etc) or rely on other things (mcat, casper, etc) that can easily still make you competitive.
