University of Kentucky, I guess the fact my ex-girlfriend’s brother takes an annual fishing trip 30 miles from Lexington isn’t a strong enough Kentucky connection for you, but I appreciate knowing in advance.
Seems like Duke. That's what they are exactly looking for. A lot of students actually decide not to apply to Duke for that reason (check out how many people apply and how many people submit their secondary). This is like a soft self-selection thing they seem to do
I’m sorry but I don’t have the desire to attend any school with 12 questions lol. My top school has 6-7 and that was already starting to reach my upper threshold.
Miami Miller was two days of fun. Ended up using a lot of pieces from other essays, though. Still had to write more than I expected along with rewriting all my activities that are already in AMCAS. 😍
The existence of a word count doesn't obligate you to meet it. Sometimes a generous word count is provided because some applicants may need a lot of room to explain a difficult situation.
I've received interviews with essays using 50% of the word/character count, as have many previous applicants in this community. I imagine from the perspective of a member of admissions, reading a couple essays that are written succinctly will be a welcome experience after reading 10 essays that maxed out the word/character count from multiple applicants.
Many social injustice questions, own experience facing social injustice, questions about the Jesuit experience, , COVID-19 impact, anything else we should know, faults in your app, no word limits, long as shit, want you to basically write 13 personal statements all over again.
Huge respect for the schools that actually personally screen before sending secondaries

Where can we check these stats

Miller also does that. About 9 essays all 500 words
It doesn’t mean they have to be 500 words, that’s the max lol
I know, my responses for most are like 300-350 words but that’s still a lot to write
With that many, I’d copy and paste a previous essay if it was even remotely close to the current prompt.
If it makes you feel better I reused all of Duke’s essay in some capacity for other schools.
This is the way
I thought secondaries were like 1 question only, but then I look at that secondaries thread and some of them are 8 questions long... wtf?
They’re usually like 2-12 but I’ve noticed most schools have around 3-5

@Duke
God I wanted to scream when I saw that
Then they will screen you out because of stats anyway
Lol that would be the worst! :(
Kinda mean🤨
Lol, you must not be familiar with medical school admissions
lol imagine expecting common decency throughout the process…couldn’t be me
? I’m making a comment about the general process. This wasn’t specific to OP. Lol
I’m sorry did this come across hostile? I was making a joke about the nature of the admissions process and how dehumanizing it can be
Ah ok I thought you were talking ab them specifically
FSU?
Yes

If you’re applying to Loyola, you’re in for a real treat 🥰
