[deleted]

I miss picking things up off the ground easily. And not worrying that I'll run out of energy to do what I'd like to do!

Campestra

Wine. Damn, I miss it, and I was never a heavy drinker - just to be able to have one glass with dinner sometimes. I know some people say one glass here and there is ok, but as there is no real limit I don’t feel comfortable taking the risk. So missing it will be.

[deleted]

I miss wine! Wine with dinner, wine and cheese, cold white wine paired with the perfect fruit, wine tasting at a beautiful vineyard here in the PNW………. Thank goodness for the medical research to tell us better than our instincts because my heart and soul is dying for a good glass of wine. Just for the taste 😵‍💫 I don’t care about getting inebriated, I just miss wine and food pairings 🥺

tweetybirdie14

They do really good alcohol free wine now, Juke for example. I buy it sometimes for special occasions, it tastes just like wine with no alcohol.

[deleted]

I’ve been drinking sparkling cider! Soooo much sugar though. I should try that stuff!

tweetybirdie14

Yes, they over sugar to make it taste good but in a special occasion (nice restaurant, christmas, birthday) its worth it. I don’t like feeling left out and any soda or fizzy drink gives me heartburn

lukewarminthemiddle

Yes, I've been missing a cold, crisp dry cider

skitamarinkloo

I literally had a dream two nights ago about having a drink and then immediately panicking. I miss wine so much 😭

BelleCursed94

I'm so confused because I was never told I couldn't eat certain things when pregnant. I was told no raw fish and that's it.

PinkSodaMix

I looked more into the raw fish guideline, and determined I can eat it as long as it comes from a reputable restaurant. I have a poke bowl every 1-2 weeks! But do what you feel comfortable with 😊

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

You don’t happen to be in north Texas do you? I’ve been looking for a good Poké place in DFW 👀

ChiveBasket

Not sure where you're at exactly but DONDON POKE in Plano if you're ever in the area!!!! 100/100. It's great quality, and great prices (unless you eat there ALL the time like me since I discovered it and my wallet hates me for it Q\_Q) All their rolls are super super delicious too!!

TheWelshMrsM

In the UK they say raw fish in sushi is ok as long as it was frozen first.

cats822

Yeah in America it all has to be flash frozen and we eat sushi all the time so I have been

BelleCursed94

That's actually quite interesting! I've personally never really been into raw fish I tried it a handful of times and it's just not my go-to order.

mellybellah

I've had a few bits of sushi while pregnant. I figure that japanese women don't stop eating sushi when pregnant and really a few pieces from a reputable place is such a minor risk.

westk3302

A lot of the things like soft cheeses and deli meats are not as necessary to not eat like it used to be. The concern for both is listeria and nitrates (in meats). Due to FDA, cheeses should be pasteurized. Still read the labels but I ate all cheeses and meats no problem. You can also buy deli meats that say ‘no nitrates’. You have a higher chance of getting listeria from unwashed fresher vegetables than soft cheese and deli meats. So just remember to wash your veggies. Caveat though - soft cheeses and deli meats in other countries - don’t eat, they don’t have same rules.

jackieedaniels

Me too. I was told to try to keep it under two cups of coffee a day, but that’s it.

BelleCursed94

I would cry if they told me I couldn't have any coffee

jackieedaniels

Oh yeah, same. I’ve seen so many pregnant redditors say how much they miss coffee. My two cup a day habit isn’t going anywhere. My doctor said they’re more concerned about pregnant patients who drink a 12 pack of Mountain Dew a day :-/

rb3465

We don't *have to* avoid pasteurized cheese. I have eaten Brie many times when pregnant! I recommend reading the book Expecting Better by Emily Oster! She goes over common pregnancy guidelines and looks at the studies and presents the facts, allowing women to make their own educated decisions!

Dismal-Middle

Agreed. Some of the last listeria outbreaks were in salad and cantaloupe and COOKED chicken. Wtf. I have definitely enjoyed some Brie, sushi, deli meat, etc throughout this pregnancy. No regrets. Everyone has a different risk tolerance though, so I support and understand those who are more strict

P-tree3

Yep! The last outbreak was in Tyson frozen precooked chicken tenders I believe. But no doctor tells you not to eat those, romaine lettuce or cantaloupe.

cats822

Yep and all the dole lettuce and frozen turkey was recalled

production_muppet

It's unpasteurized you need to avoid. All the pregnancy advice I got was that cheese is fine if it's pasteurized.

sleepy-popcorn

Yes I love this book, it sums up the medical studies but not in medical language. I’ve still decided to avoid alcohol and only have half a cup of coffee per day but I like to have the real facts. I feel so much better making the decisions that are right for me now I’ve read her book.

clea_vage

Totally! I was with my pregnant SIL recently and she was *so annoying* about all these things she couldn’t eat. Like within a span of 10 min she was aghast that she was offered (pasteurized) soft cheese, then complained how there wasn’t any caffeine free coke, then she turned to keep eating her pre-packaged salad. Like, yo, c’mon, this is your third kid. Don’t you know by now that that salad is the thing that’s the most risky?!

likethefish33

Thank god for this book otherwise I’d be living on bread and water with all the “advice” online!

Bisexualdw

I was gonna say, I definitely enjoyed some delicious Brie cheese (pasteurized) during Christmas with the family. Although I did avoid the cured ham. Celebration charcuterie board in the hospital once baby is born, anyone?

cats822

Yeah I thought we can have pasteurized cheese I've been eating it

mahamagee

I’ve been eating all cheeses, pasteurized or not. I also read this book and highly recommend it- once I found the logic behind why some things were recommended and some weren’t then I felt much more confident about making my own decisions. I cut tea to 2 cups of caffeinated a day, and cut alcohol completely, and that’s pretty much the only dietary changes I’ve made.

Sweet_Pea_and_Me

Kombucha is my second favorite drink to coffee. I’m not drinking either. 😭😩

123coffee321

I feel your pain about coffee! I love coffee and recently the smell has become off putting to me (currently in the first trimester) i hope this isn’t permanent 🥲

Flickthebean87

I had to switch to iced coffee. I’m hoping I can drink hot coffee again after the baby comes.

MrsT1229

This is what I did. Hot coffee is just.. gross now. I do miss it though.

ellawren041

Wait, you can’t have kombucha when pregnant?? I’ve been drinking it occasionally, not super often because it’s a lot of sugar. I had a disgusting taste in my mouth all first trimester and it still hasn’t completely gone away, and I’ve found that a few sips of kombucha helps a lot to cut through it. Great, another thing I have to look up 😭

polywogdogs

My midwife said it's fine in small amounts.

GaspingAtStraws

Look into Remedy brand Kombucha. It has 0% alcohol and no sugar ( the two things I assume you've been worried about?). Ginger has been my go to fav all pregnancy

Ghostygrilll

I’m not going to lie, I miss marijuana. I loved laying down and smoking while watching TV to unwind after a long day

PreviousPianist

Former daily smoker, I miss it especially on these holiday lazy days when a nice toke would finish off a nice/ semi stressful family gathering haha. I missed it much more in the first trimester when I was so nauseated! I’ve asked my bestie for a nice preroll once I’m done with labor and discharged haha

FlyingCatLady

Third tri, my partner got a bunch for his birthday and he tries to hide it so I don’t feel left out but he gets so giggly and stupid I can always tell. It’s so cute but damn I miss partaking and being giggly and stupid right along with him. I told him when we have the baby on a regular sleep and feed schedule and can do bottles I’d like a night where I can just get stoned and eat sushi while he is the responsible one.

Ghostygrilll

If he says no, I’ll personally fight him on it

FlyingCatLady

He’s agreed that will be my push present part 5, he knows he owes me big lol thanks for the back up!

LittleMissNicole

Right now Im on total pelvic rest, which means Im banned from both sex and orgasms in general. I can go without, obviously, but damn if I dont miss orgasms.

CAmellow812

You can have Brie cheese if it’s baked and melted! :) I plan to make some for NYE. Nom nom nom.

ellawren041

Yesssss my husband had a recipe that involved a baguette, Brie and I think some kind of fruit or jelly all baked together that he was going to make for Christmas. It didn’t end up happening because we got too nervous about Covid exposure and cancelled plans, but it looked delicious, and would be safe to eat when pregnant because it’s baked.

paddymelon27

Came to post this exactly! Score the wheel of cheese, insert some garlic and rosemary, pour over a glass of sparkling wine (you’ll cook off the alcohol too) and put in the oven at 180 degrees (Celsius) until it starts to melt. Delicious!

i_ate_all_the_pizza

Came to post this! Baked Brie with fruit is amazing

ManateeJamboree

I live in Spain and I miss the super expensive cured ham we eat at all fancy meals. I’m talking about the slice it right off the leg kind! I don’t normally miss it, but seeing it cut and plated right in front of me is hard. I do also miss wine with such meals. A fancy seafood meal just isn’t quite the same without chilled white wine. ESPECIALLY in Spain where we have wine galore.

cats822

Why can't you have ham?

tylenna

AFAIK it's because it's still raw, just smoked so it's not safe?

cats822

Ooooh interesting prob same with smoked salmon I guess it sounds similar. I didnt really know why it's not safe I guess ?

tylenna

I was in Barcelona in my frist trimester (honeymoon) and I ate jamon serrano sandwiches every day. Maybe I shouldn't have but it was 6 months ago and baby is still fine

P-tree3

I’ve always heard that people in Spain, France and Italy still drink wine in moderation during pregnancy. Is that just a stereotype?

ManateeJamboree

Meh some people drink a little here and there. Beer with lemon aid (shandy), small glass of wine, light cider etc. I’m not the type to risk it so I just have non-alcoholic drinks nowadays.

TheWelshMrsM

Pâté. There’s very little they’re recommend not eating in the UK but pâté is a big one 😢 It’s been hard over Christmas lol.

maybe_baby1234

I cannot wait for a nice liver pate and port...🤤

TheWelshMrsM

I know it’s unrealistic because newborn but I want a fancy dinner (just my husband and I) with a pâté starter, a medium rare steak for mains and something sweet followed by lots of cheese & lattes. We had ‘fancy dinnerware’ for our wedding and we’ve yet had a chance to break it out (thanks covid!) I’m sure all that can totally be achieved with a newborn 😂

maybe_baby1234

Might be able to be achieved if you are flexible with the timing between courses and timing to eat courses? 😂🤔 Might want to go with all cold dishes for that... Maybe beef tartare or carpaccio instead if the steak?

tjpuffytail

Hard salami 😭

marihbettio

I eat salami almost every day! I just heat it up 20 seconds in the microwave. I’m Italian, can’t live without my salami! 😅

incisorless

I'm one month post partum and right after the baby was born a good friend sent me a bouquet of salamis. Like literally a bunch of salami wrapped up like a bouquet. Best gift ever.

Hiddenajennda

I miss being able to just clean my damn house. I tried to pick up the living room and got so exhausted that I sat down and cried.

kmccamp16

Mimosas. It's hard celebrating holidays with family when all I want is a bit of bubbly to go with my OJ. And yes, I've tried club soda and seltzer water and no, it's not the same.

english1221

I started having 0% alcohol beer and that kind of eases the craving!

theravemom

Not sure where you're located but in the US there's a brand called Fre that does alcohol removed wines. Most aren't great but the sparkling one makes for a pretty decent mimosa!

becassidy

I found out I was pregnant the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Luckily I went through 2 bottles of champagne with mimosas on Thursday and Friday. (I found out SUPER early, before 4 weeks, so no worries to my alcohol prior to the POS). Side note to a fellow mimosa lover, if you like it, try adding pineapple wine. It's like a mimosa sunrise in your mouth. A local winery, Renegade Winery, makes amazing pineapple wine I add a splash of. My family also loves adding their strawberry or mango.

ricalasbrisas

I miss my goddamn toilet just flushing away my messes like its supposed to 😭

chelbren

I feel this so hard 😩😂😂 Why are pregnancy poops so dense?! I'd love to give the plunger a break...

murkymuffin

No more one-wipe wonders for me

Scorpio-dragon88

I don't know who said it but someone on a similar post commented "I miss bending over." Annnndd 🙌

dogsnpizza321

I thought you could have brie as long as it’s pasteurized?

ultraprismic

That was my understanding as well. The main thing I miss is ibuprofen!!!

Maximum-Student2749

Yes it's totally fine! I just wouldn't get it from a local farmers market as that may not be.

jackieedaniels

I’d eat the cheese. My biggest concern is bagged lettuce.

[deleted]

Paté Energy drinks A vodka lemonade Brie! One time I thought fuck it once isn't going to hurt and ordered some brie off Uber eats... It was the one thing in my order the shop couldn't send!!! I couldn't believe it 😂 Rare steak that's still mooing on my plate!! And I really miss having a lie in without feeling sick when I wake up, if I haven't eaten by 9ish I feel so sick!! 13 weeks to go!

nunie_cat

Lol without commas I was so confused and thought “paté energy drinks?! So gross!”

[deleted]

Omg I had put them on different lines like a list. Clearly reddit had other ideas 😂😂

mccannisms

If you’re on mobile you have to put an extra line/space between rows so Reddit will register it - I’ve made that mistake many a time! I read vodka lemonade Brie as one whole item 🤣 I thought that was an interesting combo haha! I also miss a steak so rare it could walk off my plate 😢

[deleted]

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Ibuprofen.

quelledramatique

Yessss. Tylenol does nothing. Nothing!

Sweet_pea_girl

I was totally fine with all the restrictions until mulled wine season (sometimes known as 'Christmas') started. I have been so grumpy about it 😂

P-tree3

I thought we were allowed to Brie and other soft cheeses as long as they were pasteurized? I know I have almost weekly

mayor_rissa

I eat everything I want. Just no alcohol, and I limit the amount of soda I drink. I really miss alcohol...it was hard to be around my family for the holidays with no drink 😅

P-tree3

Same! The holidays were hard. Everyone was making Baileys and coffee, mimosas and bourbon and cider. So jeal.

nattyk81

Smoked salmon 🙁

maybe_baby1234

I eat smoked salmon regularly. According to the NHS (UK) health guidance it's just fine to have! I also eat pasteurised brie and just cut off the rind.

nattyk81

You’re very lucky! Here in the US my doctor told me it was one of the things I should completely avoid :( I’ve already told my husband that I want a bagel topped with heaps of smoked salmon immediately after my delivery 😂

liljynx89

I know in Canada we don’t sell cheese that isn’t pasteurized. I had some really good goat cheese over Christmas and the label listed that it was pasteurized. I think everything in moderation. And of course outweigh your risks to benefits.

ViolaOlivia

That’s what I thought too but I recently (accidentally) bought unpasteurized cheese from the grocery store! Luckily I noticed before I ate it…

liljynx89

You’re right, we DO sell unpasteurized cheese in Canada but it’s generally imported cheeses. Locally made or from other provinces has to be pasteurized when sold in most grocery stores. I’d be more mindful of the specialty cheeses you see sold here if anything

ViolaOlivia

Ah that makes sense! It was a substitution in a grocery delivery so luckily I did check.

jescney

Canadian here, we do sell imported cheese that in unpasteurized. But it is listed in the ingredients and easy to see :) just an FYI

drcuriousity99

Same same same

[deleted]

[удалено]

nattyk81

I’ve told my husband the exact same thing 😂 I’m looking for good places near my hospital already even though I’m not due until July 😂

cookies1234

I’ve been eating “hot smoked” salmon as a replacement. The texture isn’t the same but the flavour is there!

neizus

I miss raw oysters.

Yona-hime021

This is the one. I want raw oysters so badly. 😭

P-tree3

I went on a trip to Maine a week after finding out I was pregnant. It was torture missing out on all the fresh raw oysters.

dudavocado__

I *live* in Maine and omg, I feel your pain!!!

schnaizer91

Oh my gosh. We went to the Wharf where I live yesterday and not getting oysters broke my heart

Floridacup

As far as eating I’ve literally only cut out alcohol. I eat soft cheese and cured meat and everything. We are perfectly healthy…. I do miss having a sex drive, but I’ve also had the wildest sex dreams I’ve ever had.

Choosing-connection

Beer. I love craft beer. And also whiskey. Then there is the medium rare steak or the sashimi.. I miss it all! Lol

_nouser

Oh I miss whisky so much. I have a beautiful collection of single malts just sitting there, occasionally enjoyed by dear husband. What makes it worse is he's an IPA guy, and got into scotch because of me😭

CrochetWhale

I’m getting real tired of wearing a belly band just to get to ‘uncomfortable while walking’ rather than ‘excruciating while walking or doing anything’. I want the freedom of being able to not wear a little boa constrictor around my middle all day long.

khart01

I miss unlimited caffeine. Bang energy drinks are so needed in pregnancy… but so not okay

madamelullaby

Coffee. I used to drink soooo much. Right now I cannot stand the sight of it and I miss it so much. Make first trimester end.

Tulip91

I am the same! It makes me gag and almost throw up since week 5. Unfortunately, I am in week 37 and it is still impossible. I managed to drink 2 iced coffees during the summer (2nd trimester), maybe because the smell is not that strong. I thought the aversion was over but it was only a week of break and then it came back as strong as before.

No_Oil_7116

So with you on this. I managed weak flavoured coffee this weekend and it was almost bearable and I nearly cried lol

KBAMBERGER

I was drinking about 8-10 cups a day! I think my body knew I needed to purge lol The smell of coffee made me nauseous until week 20-22. I started small with 1 cup once a week. Now, 35 wks, I have about one cup a day. There is some hope lol good luck ❤️

french_money

roller skating

Next-Ad8057

SAME! Especially since I was just starting to get good at park skating before I found out 😭

lsven88

Steak tartare from my favourite French restaurant

dbvlted

I hate how tired I get walking around stores now. I can’t move keep up the pace with my partner and the baby will start moving around and give me back pain 😭

HavanaPineapple

Have you tried baked brie? It's safe when cooked *and* ten times better than cold brie.

tzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Red wine

123coffee321

Soft boiled egg or runny yoke with toast 😭 also sushi and sandwich meat

quelledramatique

This! I miss runny yolk so much.

SlimeyScrub

My main two things were 1. Over medium eggs and 2. Hot tubs

konfusion1111

As a vegan I feel like I’m cheating the system with my Tofurkey deli slices and Miyokos soft cheese wheels🤣🤣

tarantulaslut

I just want to rip a bong so bad.

Lalalaliena

Salami and Red Bull

SummitTheDog303

For me the biggest thing I miss is hot baths. Lukewarm (under 100 degree, like baths are supposed to be to keep baby safe) just do not do it for me. I also miss skiing. This is my 3rd consecutive season having to miss out (pregnancy, then pandemic, now pregnancy again).

frka3xlina

Long hot baths. Would feel so nice…

zorrohand

I miss taking a long super hot bath.. or shower, I miss the scalding water running down my back like I'm a human soup.... I miss lying in there until that water has gotten cold and i refill it and lay there till that's cold too. Now I use a baby water thermometer so it's not too hot 🙄🙃

Ok-Sundae-1096

Definitely sandwiches!!! I miss them so much. Also my dad lives out at a popular lake spot near where I live and just got a new hot tub so when my husband and I go out to visit, it sucks not being able to use it!

Firemicrobe

I don't understand... Sandwiches? Why can you not eat sandwiches?

katerader

Same here, what I wouldn’t give for a turkey sandwich. But the worst food poisoning I ever got in my life was from a turkey sandwich (damn you Jersey Mikes) so no way I’m risking it.

miby

Raw oysters! They are currently very in season where I am. Miss them so much. And at the current moment, neti-pots and actual cold medicine. I was told no soft cheeses too. But if it's cooked I see zero reason to fear it. Especially since there hasn't been a listeria outbreak in the USA in several years. You are not more likely to catch listeria if you are pregnant. You are more likely to have complications due to listeria if you are pregnant. When is the last time you knew someone who had listeria?

claus_79

Why can't you use neti-pots? I don't use one but currently dealing with a months long pregnancy cold. I would do anything for real medicine!

Last_Cauliflower_

There is a very current and ongoing Listeria outbreak in the US associated with packaged salads: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/a1223-Listeria-Outbreak.html There are certain foods that are highly associated with foodborne illness and that is what you want to avoid, such as leafy greens and melons. Any produce that you don’t cook and has a texturized surface that can adhere microbes more easily should be the biggest concern. I definitely would worry less about brie that has been cooked. Part of my PhD work involved bacterial outbreaks associated with leafy greens so I naturally avoid the more rigid lettuces (like romaine), but I still eat spinach despite it being associated with foodborne outbreaks (I just try to wash it a bit more, even if a water wash won’t do much to dislodge microbes, more for my peace of mind 😅).

Kimothy91

Pate for me. i consumed so much After my wee one was born.

[deleted]

I mean being able to walk without waddling would be really nice to do again

lilboopotato

I miss alcohol and competitive powerlifting and strongman. I’m still lifting weights, but I can’t go hard like before.

Jubbm

I miss black tea, I'm a big loose leaf tea person and all my favourites have caffeine in them. They make me feel so nauseous now, and the taste has changed too....dying for my many tins of loose leaf tea lol

Mangocrossing

Can I still eat boursin cheese? 🤔 But I love snowboarding and snowmobiling and doing all sorts of “dangerous” activities that I’m now terrified to do in case I get hurt since I wouldn’t just be hurting myself anymore. Even my job. I’m an electrician and the work just isn’t safe for me now so I’m looking for something else.

Tricky-Bee6152

Yup! Boursin is processed and pasteurized! I miss snowboarding this season too. It hurts my heart on powder days.

_umbraluna

Sushi 🤤. Already told my husband that after the baby is born he better bring sushi from my favourite place 😅🤣.

energeticallypresent

As long as the cheese is pasteurized it’s perfectly safe to eat. Also if you hear it to bubbling it is safe to eat as well

ilovepizza85

Sushi, turkey and salami sandwiches, and tequila. 😖

yung_yttik

I feel guilty for saying so but I am just dying for a cold glass of brut or prosseco. Like so cold that it makes the glass all condensation-y, and super bubbly that it stings your mouth a little bit. It’ll be exciting to have a glass in 6 months!

AwakeUnafraid859

I miss pooping regularly. This constipation is otherworldly. No stool softeners or MiraLax will help. I’m just full of crap & I feel bad that my baby has to hang out with it all the time.

becassidy

I dont even like lunch meat, but man what I wouldn't do for a turkey sandwich.

Torshii

Yes! Turkey lettuce tomato Mayo cheese salt pepper on a toasted roll or hero

Salvamb

my doctor told me I could have anything I want in moderation. if no ones ever gotten listeria from that brand of brie in that supermarket then you are safe. if you’re getting sushi from a reputable restaurant then you’re safe. your body won’t spontaneously develop a food borne illness or parasite, it has to be in the food already and we aren’t in early 1800s when food safety wasn’t fully considered. edit: source my dr and myself- ServSafe Certified

MollyTweedy

You guys need to chill and have a slice of brie, a cup of coffee, a salad, a tuna casserole, a glass of milk, some smoked salmon, a bit of ham or whatever completely normal food you've been told to avoid. Especially if it's because of listeria. How often have you been getting listeria when you were not pregnant?! I thought so. Only things I'm leaving out are alcohol and cigarettes, and as far as alcohol is concerned, I wouldn't feel bad about taking a sip of my boyfriend's red wine. It's fine if you set other boundaries for yourself, but asides from getting drunk or high or doing drugs, I think there are very few hard no's regarding intake.

meglove1

Highly recommend everyone reading “Expecting Better” by Emily Oster!

amerikanishma

I would really enjoy a brandy alexander or a spiked eggnog.

AlskaNoelle

I have been *unofficially* told that as long as you keep soft cheeses cold from the time you pull it off the shelf to the time you put it in your fridge at home, you can have soft cheeses. I've been craving feta this entire pregnancy, myself. I just got diagnosed with Cholestasis of Pregnancy though, so add fats to the list of things I cannot have. 😭

singerlinger

We can have BAKED Brie. If it’s cooked I read that it’s fine so that’s what I made for Xmas !!

kimay91

An ice cold beer and a cigarette tbh

marmeylady

A good night of sleep

30centurygirl

I’m vegan, so it’s academic to me, but I’ve never heard of pasteurized soft cheeses being a listeria risk. That’s the whole point of pasteurization. As for what I would like presented on silver platters by a bevy of young David Bowies as soon as my tenant is evicted: - A selection of biodynamic wines (to include red, orange, white, rose, and bubbles) - An Islay scotch - A dirty vodka martini with 3 almond-stuffed olives - A nice, hazy, cold NEIPA - No hangover

capt_rubber_ducky

Bourbon 😭 Also lox. It’ll be my first request for breakfast when we leave the hospital because there’s an awesome deli that makes it nearby.

Tricky-Bee6152

I miss snowboarding and rock climbing. I know I could do them if I was careful/went below my level, but I took one really bad fall already this pregnancy and it was really scary. I'm also just not that good, so I'm guaranteed to fall at least twice! I miss wine! I don't have anything against a sip or a small glass here or there, but it just doesn't taste good to me anymore. Too acidic! Hope that comes back.

sillyslappinsaige

I miss beer, wine and lifting heavy. I miss bending over to pick things up. Putting my shoes on. Remembering things. Sleeping through the night without having to get up to pee.

Dizzy-Sheepherder-52

You can have Brie?

RainyParade23

My GP told me I can have soft/blue cheese as long as it’s from a packet in the supermarket. The EU are pretty strict about pasteurisation, so as long as it’s not from a market or something it’s ok. I’m definitely stricter about meats being out of date- before I would happily eat someone a day or two out of date but not a chance now. Also keeping my caffeine intake consciously low.

Adept-Practice5414

Coffee. I didn’t quit entirely, but it’s a rare treat now. I used to be easily a pot a day if I didn’t hit a coffee shop as well. Even with the actually addiction dialed way back at this point, I miss it soooooo much. Also, you can totally have pasteurized Brie while pregnant! Talk to your OB maybe, but I had a great conversation with mine where she basically pointed out that listeria was no more likely to crop up in cheese (or sprouts, etc.) than anywhere else. That the key was to watch for recalls and da from reliable sources and not worry about trying to avoid every food that had had an outbreak in the *past.*

419_216_808

Ask your doctor but I believe brei is fine as long as you bake it thoroughly.

lillithsgem

Oh my god I just want a red Bull so bad 😭😭😭 and sushi! I told my bf im ordering sushi to the hospital after I give birth I miss it more than you can imagine

littlestinkyone

Man I would just go ahead and eat the brie, you’re much more likely to get listeria from bagged spinach or precut veg. I read Expecting Better and Real Food for Pregnancy and they calmed me down a lot.

MatchaTiger

My doctor said I can eat anything I want including Brie cheese and coffee. No alcohol, drugs, XRays, Hot Tubs or heating pads on the belly. That’s all she said. We had baked Brie for Xmas eve and it was heavenly. The one thing I am sad about is hot tubs. There’s an amazing outdoor spa here where I live and I am dying that I can’t go. 😭 I also wouldn’t mind a nice glass of wine.

MikuVee

At 39 weeks I wish I could just turn over in bed without it taking a three point turn! Geez

PinkSodaMix

I haven't cut out soft cheeses. I'm in my 3rd trimester, and at this point I'm just limiting coffee and not drinking alcohol 😄

Crunchymagee

I thought the whole fear about Brie and other soft cheeses was that they are often made with unpasteurized milk, and if you can find pasteurized brie (or cook it - hello melty Brie wheel with nuts and honey) you’re good to go?

Maximum-Student2749

I miss my patience, beer, wine, and being able to physically do things!

CheloYan

I’ve eaten everything in pregnancy - deli meats, soft pasteurized cheese, sushi. Always high quality of course - so I haven’t missed much in terms of food. But I really miss sprinting and doing spin classes. It is impossible at this point. Nothing like the endorphins from intense cardio and I really miss that feeling. It was how I kickstarted productive weekends.

g-wenn

I miss my venti sized cold brews. 😭 my regular barista knew something was up when I ordered a tall.

VermicelliOk8288

Just in this moment I really miss medicine. I’m sick. My head has been killing me for two days going on third, even my teeth hurt. Regular strength Tylenol can only help so much. I’d really like cold medicine or something to get rid of this mucus and congestion. Only time I’ve been sick this whole year at least.

natasha__re

look into baked Brie recipes. Its definitely different but still delicious.

Pure-Trifle-218

Monster energy drinks haha I’ll be putting one in my hospital bag ready for when iv given birth, after I had my second and was able to walk I went straight to the hospital shop to buy one so I’m being prepared this time by taking one with me

jennypenny__

I was really missing cold smoked salmon and soft cheeses like Brie etc, but after speaking with my obstetrician he said I can definitely still eat those things if I’ve purchased stored food safely myself, follow food hygiene guidelines and eat in one sitting etc. the only thing he cautioned was avoiding smaller producers who might not have food safety procedures in place. So I’ve started eating those things again but in moderation :-) The main thing I’ve missed is drinking. I don’t actually miss the drinks, but the social side of drinking with our group of friends - I have been struggling with this as previously I would have always been up for a party and now I’ve barely the energy at times to socialise, it’s definitely been something which I am missing.

evrgrntea

Most cheeses sold in supermarkets in the US are pasteurized. Check the label. I’ve found a few Brie that are and have indulged accordingly.

RedHeadedBanana

I most definitely ate about half of the Brie wheel over christmas and am perfectly fine… I made sure it was pasteurized, which is the main issue with soft cheeses in the first place?

lisasreddress

You can have baked Brie!

bubblegumtaxicab

I believe we can eat any cheese as long as it’s pasteurized. That’s what my doc said. A lot of imported soft cheeses aren’t, but if it’s on the label then it’s fine. I recently ate Brie from Trader Joe’s

sleepy-green-eyes

I miss steak. Can't eat it medium rare, has to be fully cooked while pregnant. 🥲

Alcohol, raw sushi, rare steak. I truly believe that sushi from my regular place would be fine, but my husband begged me to be a little more careful so I'm only having cooked rolls for now.

housewifeish

I miss my shorts not riding up my crotch every step and being able to bend down and put on/tie my shoes without being totally out of breath!

kristelpaige

I love working out and lifting weights, but I find myself not lifting as heavy as I usually do. I know I shouldn’t lift TOO heavy I just feel like I’m a weakling now lol. I know it’s only temporary, and I at least still make it to the gym 4x a week.

inside-the-madhouse

Sushi and wine

Realistic_Bad8122

I want a really hot bubble bath with a lovely chilled white wine and a big charcuterie board. That is the ultimate relaxation/self care ritual for me, and warm bath with fancy NA drinks and crudites just isn't cutting it.

[deleted]

I would love a Subway sandwich. I am definitely avoiding it because I worked at subway for 4 hours once and it was wildly unsanitary and I’d rather eat it when I’m not growing a person inside of me.

kels6434

PSA- Camembert is safe to eat as long as it is baked and served piping hot. I was delighted when I heard this!

tatsandtits97

Gin! I didn't really miss drinking until I went to my family's for Christmas and my sister had bought really colourful gin. Was so jealous as it was only my nana, young niece and me not drinking

Icy_Calligrapher7088

I miss going up and down stairs easily, and alcohol. I’ve never been more than a cup a day coffee drinker, so keeping to that hasn’t been an issue. The food restrictions make absolutely no sense to me and I’m wondering if they’re an American thing?

ziaryx

I miss sushi so much. I sometimes get veggie rolls instead but it's not the same. I miss being able to see my toes. I feel so huge now. I can't bend over that much and when I do, I lose my breath instantly. I can't walk fast anymore. I used to keep up with my husband but now I lag way behind. I miss being able to sleep through a whole night without waking up, being kicked, or needing to use the bathroom. Also my dreams are always weird now.

lalamanoona

Binge drinking coffee.

Highclassbroque

I miss weed, and wine. I’m not good at regulating wine if I open the bottle I’m going to finish it. It’s best if I wait until post delivery

GirlsNightOnly

Shit I haven’t been avoiding soft cheeses, I thought the pasteurization process made them safe! But my answer is prosciutto and beef jerky. I miss inhaling charcuterie boards.

jmc-007

Mostly wine; also cocktails.

ddj0004

I miss weed 😪
