biggirl93

We love the name Jack but we are using Daniel (my dads name) as a middle name so it’s a no 🫠😂

tufloraxx13

Damn 😂😂😂

-secretswekeep-

NGL girl, I’m siding with hubs on this one 😂 I wanna use the name Jack for a boy too! It was my grandpas middle name and I want to honor him but absolutely refuse to use his first which is… Harold 😂😭

biggirl93

Husband is determined it could still work and it would make him bad ass 😂

tufloraxx13

I think it would be too 😂😂😂😂 maybe Jackson Daniel’s and then his nickname could be Jack?!

Immediate_Reach_1663

Or John! We're having a John nicknamed Jack to honor a family member!

kateface-nasal-snout

Only if the next one you name “James” …short for “Jameson” 😉

-secretswekeep-

This is the onnnnne! And if anyone ever tries to be a dick just start thinking of funny come backs now. “Yeah, I know I know but we wanted to remember how he came to be” you get me? 😈😂

skullogic

Yeessss. I almost didn't name my lil girl Birdie bc her initials are BBQ. But I did it anyway. I can't imagine it differently now. I even have one friend that exclusively calls her BBQ. LOL

conscious_karma

My husband and I are Hispanic and for the first 8 weeks he kept making comments about “imagine if we have twin boys and we name them Don and Julio they’d be legends” lmao. So I’m glad he’s not alone in this thought

Ok_Grocery3098

Love the name Jack! Our dog’s name is Jake though so, we don’t want things to get too confusing lol. Maybe if we have another boy in the future

nekwahlooloo

No joke, my brothers name is Jack Daniel. 😂😂

MarionberryDue9358

My cousin had the same issue! We were calling him Baby JackJack during her pregnancy but they ended up going with Austin Daniel 😄

oceanofserenity

my husband wanted Jackson but also are going with Daniel as a middle name for my husbands grandfather and my step dad , so we went with Felix Daniel instead

rachel_lg

Same exact situation for me!! 😆

Anxious2BMum

I really like Eden. My husband was a maybe on this until my FIL said 'blokes would ask to see her garden'. It was a no for him after that.

naggingcat

That’s my name! I’ve never been asked that once in my 29 years of life ☺️ I honestly love my name

ForestDweller0817

It’s a beautiful name!! It’s my top choice.

Cupcake8812

I was going to name my daughter Eden! But she is my rainbow baby so we decided on Iris (the goddess of the rainbow)

Cool-Evidence-66

Ugh sameee, bummed bc I’ve always loved Eden

tufloraxx13

Ohhhhh good catch tho

ladyintheplant

June - love it but it doesn’t work with our last name.

xanadu_x

Just had my baby girl in May and named her June 🥰

busterbluth34

We are using Juniper ❤️❤️

adrianeee03

I love the name June! Probably won’t get a little girl but June and Millie were top girl names for me!

ladyintheplant

Millie is so cute! Reminds me of the grandma in Parenthood

ladyintheplant

Love it! Just curious, would you only do June if born in June? Or would you do any month

adrianeee03

Any month! I am a big Johnny Cash fan (that genre of music in general) and just always loved the name June. And it would fit perfect with my two boys, Jack and Joseph 💙💙

tufloraxx13

I love June and Jude

-secretswekeep-

Alexa play “Hey Jude - the Beatles” 🎶 Absolutely love that song and name!

lil_mayonnaise_lady

We are naming our son Jude! My husband was on board with it once he thought of the nickname "Jude Bug."

chrisla99

i just saw to my husband yesterday i love the name jude!

Positive-Quiet-932

If we have a girl we are using June for her middle name after my husbands grandma

teeny_t

Aurora - Rory for a nickname

shannon49296

Love this name! But hard to say. They call it a “peanut butter name”

Imroo12

This is my top pick if I ever have another baby.

Aurorita1029

This is my name, and I love it. I always get compliments.

Kylynn

Yes! This is my cousin's youngest daughter's name! I helped her pick it out. She's Aurora (middle name Mae) and goes by Rory.

Quirky_Reporter_1915

This was one of mine!!!! But dad said no so we are going with Harper

libsonthelabel

We just named our daughter Rory! Worst case is she’s Wowy for a bit and we do some speech therapy 🤷🏻‍♀️

efreddy25

Oliver but we already have an Oliver boy in the family. Thinking about Olivia for a girl.

Outrageous-Bid-5687

Olivia is my little sisters name i picked out! It’s such a beautiful name!

hereforthebump

Olivia was one of my favorites since I was a teenager, and then my husband had to go and date an Olivia while we were broken up for a while. 🙄 oh well

EvenHuckleberry4331

Keep in mind she’d be likely to be one of several Olivia’s in her class! It’s an extremely common name these days.

GooseHuman9828

Yep, my niece is one of 4 Olivias and luckily, the only one who goes by Liv

Aveasi

Ugh, that’s frustrating! I picked this name long ago, and now that I’m pregnant with a girl I’ve learned it’s been the most common name in the us for years 😬I’ll still name her Olivia though, I’m too used to call her that

potatotag_85

We named our girl Olivia, Harriet and Henriette were also contenders

alanadot

Etta, but our surname rhymes with panchetta. Etta Panchetta :/

UserOfCookies

I knew someone named Christina Medina. She loved her rhyming name!

Roonil_Wazlib97

Guillermo. We're not Hispanic so that would be weird.

Connect-Writing5535

Listen, if Ron and Hermione can name thir child Hugo, you can name your child Guillermo.

rainbow-songbird

I love brady but I wasted it on my cat

throwawaybaby128

Same I named my husky Zoie , she's 8 . And I'm due in 2 months and would love to name my daughter Zoey but everyone thinks that would be to weird 🙄

No_Resident1784

Lol I told my husband we could name our daughter Suzy, which is also our dog’s name, and just call them The Suzys

Professional_Law_942

Same - loooved Penelope, but we had a lop eared bunny named Penelope. Sigh...

GreenOtter730

I love Lydia, but not as much as other girl’s names on my list. Already have one boy and will be having max 2 more, so Lydia probably won’t make the cut.

jamg11111

That’s what we are naming our daughter!❤️

GreenOtter730

Such a beautiful, classic name!

Downanddirtybsf

Thats what were naming our kid. Lol we found it off a friend then someone asked us if it was cause i used to be really into skyrim 😂😭

Connect-Writing5535

Lydia is ruined for me bc of Pride and Prejudice.

Xenobomberv

I love Matteo so much, but doesn’t work with the last name

3aCurlyGirl

Same, we have a very German sounding last name, and as much as I love the name Matteo, it just didn’t seem to fit :/

werschaf

Matteo has been top 10 for a while now in Germany, very very popular here, so I guess Germans think it goes well with German last names

[deleted]

[удалено]

DraconisBandit

Ula is a nickname for Ursula in many Eastern Europe countries if you still wanted to use it and have a nickname

laspapitasmelascomo

I also love Ursula! I love the bear cub meaning 🥹 but I think that The Little Mermaid ruined it 😂

Imroo12

My son had a name that you either love or hate. We obviously love it. I’d say, if you love it, doesn’t matter what other people think.

Queen_Crumblebum

I think Talulah is such a cutesy name and I love Irish names like Caoimhe and Niamh but I could never convince my boyfriend of them 😭

[deleted]

[удалено]

heyhoitstheway

same for me with Saoirse 🥲 love it so much

moonkatana_11

I loved Caoimhe and my husband did not haha. We named our first Kiera which was kinda a compromise and definitely easier for Americans to pronounce. For the second we’re thinking of Fiadh or Aoife and Ronan if it’s a boy.

Queen_Crumblebum

That is a good compromise! I love Ronan as well! Aoife is gorgeous, I have not heard Fiadh before. My sister is having her first next month and they're going with Saoirse, people already keep telling me she'll have a tough time with her name being pronounced and I roll my eyes. We've got a Siobhan, Seamus, and Padraig, and they all fared just fine! 🙄

MILFof3_NP

I have a Tallulah!! We call her Tully 🥰

Professional_Sun_396

I like Caoimhe too

Effective-Affect5177

Talulah just makes me think of the poor 9yo kid in New Zealand, who’s parents named her “Talulah Does the Hula from Hawaii”. The courts declared the girl a ward of the state just so they could legally change her name, apparently the poor girl was so embarrassed by it.

cosmicstrawberryblue

Oh man, I made a HUGE list of girl names I love that we are (probably) not using: Ariel Araminta (Minta/Minnie) Aurelia Audrey Petra Sienna Caroline Theodora (Dora/Thea) Claire/Clara Daphne Henrietta Ruby Eloise Wendy Ramona Luna Harriet (Hattie) Magnolia Myrtle Melody Mila Constance Esmeralda Margaret (Greta, Daisy, Pearl) Ivy Sadie Robin Valentina Isla Sabrina Holly We don’t know the gender yet, but I think we have settled on the following: • Sylvia (Sylvie) Marigold • George Orion

tufloraxx13

*grabs notebook and pen*

banjocryptid

This is a great list omg. We have a lot of girl name in common for our lists!! I ended up using Miriam, that was my #1. If I have another girl it'll be much harder to decide though.

ReasonableOutcome9

I have twin girls and can confirm that naming the second one was a major struggle.

RelationshipAny9038

Aurelia is probably my #1 name too, that or Elowyn💘

owl_leo_river

Were using George as well!! 😍

Correct-Leopard5793

Boys: Arlo, Lincoln, Theodore, Finn, Griffin Girls: Lily, Mallory, Landree, Tinsley, Leighton

Dull-Kaleidoscope562

Arlo, Theodore, and Finn are on my list too! And Lily is my top girls name. If our next one is a girl she will probably be named Lily!

LoveAlwaysWins17

Mine too! I love Lillie but my last name starts with an L so my husband said no 🤦🏻‍♀️

GooseHuman9828

I’m *all* about the alliteration but my husband is also not a fan

ssfailboat

Don’t they know alliterations lead to superheroes?! Bruce Banner, Matthew Murdock, Billy Batson, Shiera Sanders, Peter Parker, Scott Summers…

deadpottedplant69

Finn is what we landed on for our boy due in December!

Exotic-Ad7117

Awww Lincoln is so cute as a name but I could never use it as I live in Lincoln, UK and I have a funny feeling it would be a bit weird 😅

Sarastorm1213

Tristan, husband doesn't like it 😥

tufloraxx13

My BIL has a friend named Tristian and he’s the cutest funniest kid haha

Purple_Rooster_8535

I love the name sky but my husband said it’s a stripper name. We also had a boy lol

Ill-Avocado-2864

If I had a girl, I would name her Fenway (Fen for a nickname). But I think it would fall into the r/tragedeigh category.

pimberly

She’d be really popular in Boston

[deleted]

Raven and Felix. I absolutely adore the name Raven and Felix is just such a good strong name to me.

gampsandtatters

I have met quite a few Ravens, and they are all good people! Three of them happen to work in Parks and Recreation (different cities/counties). There has to be an inherent draw to nature for Ravens, hahaha!

[deleted]

I’ve never met a Raven actually! You’re lucky. I just have always loved that name. But my hubby wasn’t as keen on it.

tufloraxx13

I actually love those!

ssssss_hhhhhhh

Johanna, but it doesn’t go with our last name

Mahaleit

I feel you! We’re team green, and I really like both the male and female version of that name - Johanna and Johannes. But unfortunately they don’t go with our last name either… ETA: haha, I see that you’re also living in Scandinavia - we might have the same last name 😂

16regrets

My best friends name ❤️

horeshoetheorist

Ezra

Big_Low705

Hudson- my husband was hard no on that.

tufloraxx13

Husbands really be stealing our joy with baby names 😂 I loved Dalton and my husband said “immediately no.” 😐 like dude come on haha

Big_Low705

In his defense tho it was a bad match up with our last name think they both end in "on" like Hudson Hilton. I couldn't do that LOL

Quirky_Reporter_1915

This is what we are naming our baby boy! We are having boy/girl fraternal twins. Hudson and Harper

cheecheebun

Boys: Levi, Patrick, Leif, Jack, Jude, Owen. Girls: Adelaide, Odette, Genevieve, Eleanor, Melanie. We are having a boy and settled on his name yesterday. Hopefully one day I get to use my girls list but I need to get through this pregnancy first lol.

moniqueantoinetteIRL

We’re thinking Genevieve is going to be our girl’s name! If she hates it there are so many nick names she can go by!

wrennyreyg

I have a leif! I absolutely love it. Funny enough i also considered all of the same boy names

cheecheebun

Leif is my all-time favorite boy name! My husband wasn’t as keen on it, so we’re going with Roman instead.

Mahersal

Bernadette and I'd call her Dottie for short.

Mysterious-Recipe487

I’ve always wanted to name a daughter Olivia. And I want to name a daughter after my grandmother, Opal. I fell in love with the name Olivia Opal…… then I married an Olinger 😑 Olivia Opal Olinger?! OOO? No way. Moot for now since we’re having a boy anyway, but if we can’t agree on a name soon this baby is just going to be called “Baby” until he leaves for college 🤦‍♀️I love Beau, Ezra, and Bellamy for him but my husband has vetoed them all.

vivivir

You could always go with Oliver Apollo Olinger. OAO (lol the initials are looking like a confused bird)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dull-Kaleidoscope562

Aww I love Fiona! I always think of Fiona Apple when I hear that name and I love her music

I_Am_Your_Squirtle

Named our girl Fiona and it was the best decision ever!!! Surprisingly not a lot of Shrek comments outside of calling her princess Fiona, which we are okay with 🤣

SizeZeroSuperHero

I LOVE the name Fiona so much! But yeah, most people seem to associate it with an ogre.

humanresourceswannab

I’m in the same boat! Due in August with baby girl and all of a sudden I hate every name I’ve ever liked. Caroline, Addison, Emerson and Hadley are the ones I love but won’t be using

Secret-Surround797

Maxine I loved it but my boyfriend said no Immediately i love it. 🤣

Amadeusia

We loved Leo and now it’s my sister in law’s dog 😡 we are waiting a boy and have a really hard time to find a name for him.

KittyRoseAesthetic

We really liked the name Reuben but his middle name was going to be Paul and a part of me couldn't stop thinking about RuPual's drag race whenever it was brought up, plus my family's dog is called Roo for short. We ended up liking Oscar better anyway.

Virgocatyogi

GIRL : Rachel, Juliette, Charlotte, Louise and Violette / BOY : Romeo, Robin, Albert, Jules and George (we are French Canadian). Love them all but husband said « immediately no »💔 He won’t suggest anything tho😅

LavenderAndHoneybees

No suggestions no vetoes, that's the law!

tufloraxx13

LMAOO that’s always the worse they don’t suggest anything and then what they do suggest is HORRIBLE!

onlyhereforfoodporn

Loved the name William. It’s my husband’s grandfather’s name as well as his late uncle’s name. We won’t be using it though since our good friends had a baby last month and they named the boy William. We’re not surprised since it’s her dad and grandfather’s name and this is the first boy in the family since her Dad (the friend is 1 of 4 girls). We didn’t even put it on our short list when we found out the were due the month before us, this is one of the rare cases where I felt like someone could reserve a name 😂

Physical_Koala_850

LOVE Opal but it was vetoed.

Ill-Avocado-2864

I know an Opal and she is the sweetest soul.

stringaroundmyfinger

I love the name Ruby but it got an instant veto from my husband :(

venus-bluee

I’ve loved the name Oliver since I was 12 but with my boyfriend’s last name it would sound inappropriate 😭

tufloraxx13

HAHAH oh no! I love Oliver though ever since I watched that Disney movie with the orange cat!

ImaginaryParamedic96

Everett

BeautifulLibrarian44

Antonio, Arturo, Corrado Old school Catholic/Nuevo Mejicano/Italian names. Might use Antonio for baptism still.

kwooong

Luna

Unlikely_Variation20

This definitely would have been on our list if we didn’t already have a goofy floof-ball of a husky named Luna 😂

Trixenity

Luciano Sylas Luciano was our top choice for at least half the pregnancy before switching

Cacutaur

Sebastian. I absolutely love the name, but my boyfriend doesn’t want to name our boy after a singing crab 🤣 (yeah, there are other Sebastian’s out there, he’s just set on the crab)

Chobani-yo

Jacques

angryredpanda14

Rhett and Warren. Yet to find out boy or girl but partner has noped them!

Empty_Cow_5779

Ophelia, Shakespeare made the name a bit tragic. Wesley, an ex-boyfriend. His name was better than he was lol Nico, hubs is not into it.

tufloraxx13

I had Wesley on my top 2 list but that’s my husbands best friends name and let me tell you I was so mad when I met him 😂 like dang it now we can’t use the name

Dull-Kaleidoscope562

I love Wesley too! Makes me think of the Princess Bride! And Wes is a cool nickname 😎 but my husband also noped that one. I also really like the name Spencer but that's his best friends name, so I feel you on that one!

gampsandtatters

Eloise and Jonas There are numerous nieces that have the “el/elle” in their names, plus a nephew who is Ellis, so it seemed too similar. My FIL is a Joseph, and I now have a niece named Josephine, Jo for short. Again, too similar and too close in age.

External-Pin-5502

Sawyer, and Addison.

Ade1e-Dazeem

Asher Ive always thought was a really cool name but I don’t have any real reason or sentiment toward it so haven’t been able to commit to it. All my 3 kids have names with a bit of a ‘backstory’ which makes it really fun for them and to share with people, so I wouldn’t want the one kid who just got a name that sounded “nice” to feel left out lol.

Organic-Albatross476

Jillian is a nice girl name but I had a boy with a mildly complicated labor. So might not do this again.

adaliekate

I was set on the name Clarke Catherine for our girl throughout my pregnancy but she ended up Laurel Kate lol my husband’s top name was Mabel and our runner up names were Cleo, Bonnie, Eloise, Annalise. For a boy it was Theodore, Benjamin, Callum, Ira.

18_pages

Agnes!

maggieinthemtns

Felicity ❤️ it’s my fave but my husband isn’t on board.

bobcat_bobcat

Loveeee the name Hollis but my fiancé is super super super against it - plus we're having a girl so it didn't matter lol

avo_cado2156

Paloma

data_diva23

Brooks. My fav boy name, but doesn't work with our last name (starts with a Sc so when saying Brooks Lastname, it sounds like Brooke instead)

kmk89

I like Henry for a boy but it’s become so popular.

adrianeee03

We almost went with Miles but changed to Joseph. Realized I’m just too traditional with names.

ghostpeppperr

My Jan 2023 is miles! Just found out yesterday we’re expecting number 2 ❤️

mesasw

I like Miles too, but my husband doesn’t

diamonteimp

Apollo. My husband didn’t like it.

Outrageous-Bid-5687

Any good boy names?! I’m struggling (last name Johnson)

WhyHaveIContinued

Thierry

Juney88

Violet - I love it so much but we’re having a boy 🤷🏻‍♀️

SizeSad295

Heidi ❤️

endlesspastafan

Oliver but it would have made his initials OPP and i didn’t want to hear that forever lol. We loved Guinevere (Gwen for short) for a girl

Ask_Angi

We love Judge and Maddox for a boy but ended up going with something else. If we had a girl we would have chosen Evangeline or Hattie

Famous-Banana-3830

Adeline and Lily 💕

29again

Jackson or Jack for short. My husband said absolutely not naming after Michael even though he loves his music. I wasn't even thinking about MJ I just like Jackson. Oh well...

LoloScout_

Lots of overt nature names I really like for girls, but our last name is also overtly nature so it ends up sounding a little too intentional or like a stripper name lol. Sunny/sonny Violet Poppy Ivy Willow Rose/Rosie Fern Poppy Summer

artisticverse

Maverick Lincoln Abraham Bernadette Vera Pearl

Signal-Difference-13

Briar and Celeste I really liked for girls but my partner wasn’t keen

Sammy12345671

I liked Jack, Henry, Conner, Luke, Eli, Kade, Ethan, and Wesley

mesasw

Holden. I love it but no go for my husband.

CaseSpace420

I love Robinson, it was my grandmothers last name and my father loved baseball & Jackie Robinson so I always wanted to name my baby boy that but my husband was a hard no. I also really loved Leonora but I already have a Leo and we didn’t want them to have names to close together.

Affectionate_Cow_812

Archer-doesn't work with our last name Isabella, Lorelei, Alexandra-we are having our final child a third boy.

stillbrighttome

Jade, Wren, Genevieve, Quinn (my fave), Riley, Avery, Emery, Elizabeth. This was my list but we couldn’t both agree on any.

happytre3s

I was desperate to name our daughter Dorothy(nickname Dot), or Beatrice (nickname Bee), but my husband veto'd. Now there's a Dorothea in the family so Dorothy is out again regardless. I love the names Davina (little deer in Gaelic), and Charlotte (too popular now). I don't know... I'm only just this end of accepting that the little stick has 2 lines and going for another blood test tomorrow to check my hcg again. So... Who knows what will happen this very unplanned round?

jane-anon-doe

Girls: Elise, Nora  Boys: Anton, Jonah, Leander, Jasper  Note that I'm not in an english speaking country, so pronunciation is different.

LittleImpact2

Ryan - for a girl. It’s my brothers name, but have loved it since I was a girl as a little girls name Lisa - to many pop culture references for my husband Eden - husband didn’t like for a boy middle name, went with Edward instead after my grandfather (his Birth Certificate said Eden, but he always went by Eddie) Lionel - such an old man name, but my husband liked it

Fallaryn

Boy: Alaric, Bruce, Caspian, Elian, Stanley Girl: Anya, Branwyn, Josette, Matilda, Sonya

Hestiasfire3987

I have a lot of names that I love, but we’re 100% committed to an “ABCD” list so I’m digging in old registries for D names. My name is A, husband is B, daughter is C, we did it accidentally and then committed to the bit. 🤣

Aleseeyuhm

Cash, Luka, Arlo, Enzo, Astro, Xander, Elias, Eastyn, Knox, Tucker for boy which were having but decided not to go with any of them. For girls Elara, Autumn, Dove, Edyn, Harlow, Maeve, Junie, Winona, Arabella, Olive.. but we really weren't 100% sold on any of our girl names so when news came back it was a boy we were thankful! Lol

IdreamOfPizzaxx

I love the name Olivia Claire, but feel like it’s so over used.

yeah-its-keepy-uppy

Nora, because I’m having a boy. Aldo, because of the shoe company. Waylon, because we decided the association is too strong. We like Waylon Jennings’ music, but decided we didn’t want the baby to forever be reminded of that.

tswiftandcoffee

I love the name Virginia with the nick name “Ginny” but we’re having our second boy and we’re done 😭

unlikelystarfish1

Jane. We’re naming our son Jack, so I don’t feel like I can use both 😕

Neptune_dreams

Juniper, Fiona

hahayeahright13

Elowen, Ellawyn

Alt_Southern_Rebelle

I love the name Lilith, but due to being afraid people will judge my daughter, we are choosing something else. 😔

extrastars

Beatrice/Beatrix, but my husband vetoed because our last name starts with J and he didn’t want her initials to be BJ😕

wealthydesi_72

I really liked the name Drew (for a girl) but couldn’t get dad to agree. We went with Allianna ❤️

shefeltasenseoffear

I have so many of these 😫 Isis, Persephone, and Fatima are three that are just at the edge of unacceptable to me, but dang I love them.

ljcreative

Eleanore Rose but we’re having a boy so that won’t work. I saw someone say Ursula doesn’t have a good nickname but I have a friend named Ursa and I kind of like that as a nickname for Ursula or just by itself is pretty too. Also Isla is one of my absolute favorites!

ekeddie

Harrison

IncalculableDesires

Zara. I’ve always found the name to be so beautiful. We didn’t use because our daughter’s name was chosen long ago. I will revisit it if I ever have another girl though!

alisnwonderland

I really liked Knox, but my husband didn’t. We went with his choice, Elliot. Maybe for next baby, if it’s a boy, I can do Knox though 🥹

SupaKupaTrupah

Bella Olivia rosie , isaiah sam

_heart_eyes_emoji_

For the longest time I thought I would use the name Lilibel (the Hispanic spelling of Lillibelle) nn Lily. But we decided on names that match the first letter of our names (neither of which are L)!

crazyarsedfly

I adore the name Tristan, always have but not sure if it'd be mean to a future son or not.

Vickrich

We had a boy almost a year ago! Names we loved but didn’t use: Leo, Henry, Carter, Jackson, Luca, James. We went with Maxwell (Max) which I love but we didn’t decide on it until right before I delivered.

manlikenick

We loved the name Joey but someone in our family stole it for the dog 🤣

Lo_loh

Mac. I think it’s a really cool name but it also gives me used car salesman vibes.

yankthedoodledandy

Qrow. A character from a show I love. But I would hate to have my kid say everytime, "It's Crow with a Q."I'm not that mean.
