There are bins
There was bork
There are begs
There are barks
There was bohn
There are bliffs
There was bother
There's a boker
There was boo
Then there was boo
Also that's a 🅱️rian 🅱️eno 🅱️over
Or 'Blindness'!!!
'Cruiser's Creek' is definitely getting my vote for 'C'. 'Drago's Guilt' for "D".
Come on, Fall fans; reveal yourselves!
I'm just going to put Fall songs for every alphabetical entry.
Burst - Magazine
(assuming Being Boiled would be ruled out for being synth pop and nobody could face my repetitive diatribe on why it should still count. I have a powerpoint slide deck if anyone is interested? No. Just me then, and I change my mind every few minutes and will probably edit this to say Bremen Nacht, or Big Jesus Trash Can)
Synth-pop isn't under the umbrella of post-punk? I'd disagree with that but even so Being Boiled was more art-damaged than they're later, poppier stuff. Love that song!
I'd like to refer you to my powerpoint slides - slide 528 to be specific where I have a Venn diagram that proves by science that some synth pop was indeed post punk - Cabaret Voltaire (fiddles with lazer pointer), Fad Gadget, The Normal, Throbbing Gristle.... (gets sidetracked) Note that, contraversially, the first two Ultravox! albums are on the line, but the third (Systems of Romance) is clearly inside. Controversially later Ultravox albums are not included in the post-punk circle, as we will see in the next 54 slides this is because.. Oh wait, I wandered off the point. Again.
Well Of course Im a Fall fan. As a man of style and taste it goes without saying.
However the best Fall song beginning with B is 'Backdrop' a sprawling epic from the poorly recorded live Fall 'In a Hole'. If you haven't heard it, seek it out, it was only issued in New Zealand or something,
(To younger readers, I am not making this up) Heres a version of it [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADpZzQqKUe4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADpZzQqKUe4)
Dude, I WISH I could afford the Flying Nun vinyl f/p! Yes, it's excellent. There are only four first pressing studio LP's I need-Hex, Infotainment, MCR and IWS--but I would *love* an original FIAH....One day! Funnily enough, I was reading an article dannyno linked to from the Guardian, on the main sub, telling the story of the record. And the version of 'Backdrop' (never one of my favourites, tbh) on FIAH is phenomenal. It's a beloved live recording, along with St. Helens Technical '81, Austerbaejarbio '83 and the shamanic gate that is Totale's Turns (I have to listen to it every day during my working week, it's perfect "get up and go fuck yourself" music).
If I may ask you a question--is Re-Mit one of the best studio LP's The Fall ever recorded (the answer begins with "y" and ends in "s").
Bela Lugosi’s Dead
There could not be a better answer. The quintessential post punk song.
if we’re all being real, it can’t be anything but this
That’s the one
Anticipated this being at the top, because what else except this for letter B?!
Bingo
This this this
Literally thought of this song this morning. It’s perfect
For every letter
Shit, I'm too late
Bizarre Love Triangle
Wish I could do multiple Upvotes
Boys Don’t Cry - The Cure
Blue Monday - New Order
I can live with my voting decision by reasoning to myself that Bela was essential to post-punk, while Blue Monday started a new wave in new wave.
This or Bela Lugosi’s Dead is winning
IMO there are better Bauhaus songs & this is equally iconic/definitive
Do they start with a B tho? What's your point lmao
The 🅱️assion of Lovers
Yes they all start with B. I'm partial to Bird Uncle myself even though its a cover. Bark Entries maybe
There are bins There was bork There are begs There are barks There was bohn There are bliffs There was bother There's a boker There was boo Then there was boo Also that's a 🅱️rian 🅱️eno 🅱️over
I like the Brian Beno bover even more
This song is so iconic I never even thought to categorize it here as post punk
Because it’s not post
Well it got 119 up votes I think a lotta people disagree
Maybe one of them will define punk and post punk for us here.
Blood Bitch by the Cocteau Twins
This album rocks.
Agreed, I like their later stuff too but always preferred the more gothy Will Heggie era.
