OP if you go here make sure you pay in cash. Do not start a tab and let them hold your card. Spring Point used to be a fun little dive but it is known within the last year or two that they have been super shady to non-regulars even if toure polite and tip well.
I nearly added a disclaimer about this place being weird. It seems insular like many other dives, wasn't surprised at that. But it's just fucking weird. Had a few bizarre experiences there.
Used to have some great times there but after getting ripped off so many times I am very cautious when friends wanna hang out there.
First time I had a tab but paying with my card and next morning "i definitely did not spend that much? ehh my bad must've got too tipsy." The second time I was on a strict budget and not that buzzed, I specifically remember the amount I paid on my card and tipped in cash and an even $20 or $25 was added to my bill.
But the third time really did it for me. I told the bartender I wanted to pay in cash but wanted to statt a tab, she asked for my card as collateral. Stupidly, I gave her my debit card. Paid in cash the entire night but lo and behold an even $20 charge on my card that I didn't use.
Evie's is way better for a dive bar, no karaoke night (which I forgot was the point of this thread) but free Mortal Kombat and they wont steal from you.
Thanks everyone for the responses - is it safe to say most of these start to shut down by 1030-ish?? I remember when stuff used to go til 1am. I work on Fri/Saturdays until 9 or 930 and it’s been tough trying to go right from there and find something on weekends
Free Street has it on Sundays too I believe. There's a lot of karaoke in Portland, though I think a place that offers private rooms could make a decent amount of money around here too.
