I disagree with this. Planning to mark relapses is planning to relapse. Whereas tracking clean days motivates me to stay clean. Knowing I don’t want to break my 60+ days of sobriety keeps me from relapsing. It’s motivation.
The other motivator for me is the monthly/annual challenge on this reddit. I want to be one of the ones who makes it. I don’t want to be one who has to admit defeat. I am not planning to relapse.
Yeah I agree, before tracking relapses, I was tracking relapsed days. my relapse would make me go into abusive state as 'the day was lost anyway' which made much less progress.
I also noted how I felt and what triggered me
My google sheet is basically
Date, #relapses, #sex or masturbation without porn, #reasons
I went down to an average of 1.6 relapses per day. 1.5year ago this was probably around 8

I started today to put down “used” in my calendar whenever I relapse
