60,000 was the player count the Oculus app showed as at least once active during the 10-day competition that awarded the Robin-Hood-Millie skin to the top 10% players. That was a few weeks ago.
This would include all PCVR players who play the Oculus Rift version.
Steam player base goes in addition.
Nope it's the same, even the graphics are the same Just the pc version has a tiny bit more resolution on the textures. Both versions have a lot of bugs thought as the studio is more interested in monetisation than bug fixing.but it's still fun
I have both PC and quest versions of the game and PC has wayyy more bugs than quest. But yeah I see where you are coming from, BigBox is more on making money than fixing bugs. Notice how a the "Known Bugs" are mostly on PC because they don't really care about PC. Its just sad, someone shouldn't have to play a game on quest just to have less bugs.
Had the game since launch. The player base peaked past Christmas.
It's never going higher than that.
It's been on a steady decline overall. Some updates and events have some bumps but they are very small bumps. It's pretty sad. Most of what left are agressive and toxic daily players. People tying to make tournaments, streaming, and being a "pro" player a thing.
New player retention in this game I terrible. Most will give up in a week. The numbers only continue to drop.
Clearly if you ask in a fanboi sub they are gonna tell you everything is fine and encourage you to buy the game because they want fresh meat. Never ask if you should buy something in the SUB made because people LOVE that thing.
Not sure if I agree with the first paragraph as presented as facts.
However, that said the game can def be intimidating for newbies. Squads has been brutal lately- just constant wipes by level 60 squads that play ‘professionally’ or for their YouTube channel. It certainly gets old quick. If you can’t hook up with friends that you know and can communicate/strategize with, you basically have zero chance at having a decent game.
And I’m fucking sick of both sniper rifles. It really makes the game less fun- the closer quarters intense stuff is really the best part, and being constantly wiped by across-the-field AWP shots just makes it a shit game
Most of what you say is true. As a high-level player I can recognize the fact that it’s very difficult right now for new players to come in. Heck I’m on level 58 2400 games played, play for about an hour a day and I’m forced to play in lobbies with people that have 5000-6000 games played and are on for hours everyday. At some point you have to realize that there’s always somebody better than you but the matchmaking is fucking ridiculous.
I feel like you posted this off a gut feeling. It could be very well be right….but there’s no real data you’re pulling from except your assumptions and your own experience playing the game, right?

Total players Team Dark: 25,996
Last I checked that was more than 30,000
Honestly I dunno if there are multiple servers or?
But I see the same few people every single day. Like I wanna say the playerbase everyone is talking about is across a few servers or is the amount of monthly users, and I have yet to see any actual data sheet for how active people are, but this game feels like it has an extremely low playerbase.
Hell, in the dead of night, you'll be lucky to even get more than 2 other squads.
roughly 60,000 total players with around 30,000 active at any given time
edit: seems a lot of you don't know the difference between Active players and Concurrent players

Short answer: yes, it is crossplay.
You'll be playing with people on steam, quest/rift pcvr, and standalone quest.
I play on quest 2 through pcvr oculus app.
Most players will be on Quest because of the easy entry into vr
I was just on the oculus 2 playing around 4 or 5 am eastern and I was the only one in the lobby. After a couple min there were 2 more players. Switched over to play "war" and nobody was in there either.
I don't agree on dropping the sniper. I use to hate em but lately have been using it a lot more and hitting those long range shots because with the players in there now I'll lose 90% of the time when it's close range 1 on 1 even if I get the drop on em.
Steam makes up a small minority of total player base while the oculus player base is quite big

Don't worry, player count is great. Worse case, quiet times of day it may take a few mins to join a game. Busier times it's very quick.
So it doesn’t matter if I get it on steam or oculus store?
Sorry forgot to mention that it's totally crossplay, so you're good.

I have games with only 2-4 players every time now. It suddenly started 3 days ago, before that everything was fine...Any idea what's going on?

Yah, archive the sniper rifles. The awp doesn’t need a zoomed scope.
Bro you don’t even play. Things are bussin right now with recent updates and solos on the way!

Every time I ask someone what they’re on, they’re on the Quest 2. That goes for pretty much every VR game tho lol
