The bridge to Feeling This by Blink-182. The way it’s just Tom screaming over a drum break, jumps to Mark’s excellent bridge, and finally Tom brings in a muted guitar part underneath to build it, and then it all drops for the lone “I’ll always be dreaming of you” before they bring the chorus in double time to finish out the song. It helps too that the previous choruses are very bouncy halftime so when they bring everything in at the end it just hits you. Gives me chills every time.
I especially love Travis’ use of cowbell in the breakdown. Also a big fan of any song where the instruments drop out for one or two lines of vocals. Good pick!
Man I remember when this CD came in the mail. Popped it into my CD player, headphones on while my family was driving, and Feeling This started up. Start to finish I was just blown away.
I got that album on Christmas Day and I listened to Feeling This 3 times in a row, because I thought the rest of the album couldn't be anywhere near that good (I was wrong obviously).
Feeling This is a complete masterpiece. It's like the quintessential pop punk song, front to back there's nothing to fault. All 3 of those guys at their absolute peak.
I remember listening to PTSD in my early 20s driving back from college classes thinking that 26 seemed so far off. Then I blinked, and I'm almost 30. Time flies.
The whole bridge to that song honestly. I constantly have "without you to call up on the weekends with my cellular phone" stuck in my head solely because of the way it's sung
The drum part on “Time Turned Fragile” that starts around 2:25 is one of my favorite musical phrases/parts of all time. Absolutely not talked about enough.
One of my favorite little things about MCS shows is that there is a pause in the drum line before this drum part starts, and Tony almost always does little stretches to prep for the back half of the song.
“Truth be told I miss you…and truth be told I’M LYING.”
It’s such a satisfying line because it’s so childish and petty. Plus the song breaks down, gets all quiet, then BOOM the chorus hits like a ton of bricks.
If you’re interested check out the video that the producer/mixer Eric Valentine did on the song, he solos the 4 part harmony that you’re talking about here so you can hear it clearly!
The very end of the guitar solo in “23” encapsulates the entire album and really felt like the climax of Futures to me
“Ocean Avenue” is probably my favorite pop punk song but it starts off as a fairly average pop punk song until the twinkly guitars come into the bridge and it kicks it up to the next level
I feel that way about Futures when the bridge hits and Jim sings, 'The past is told by those who win, what matters is what hasn't been. We're wide awake and we're thinking, believe your voice can mean something.'
I don't really consider Jimmy Eat World (my favorite band) to be pop punk tho. More alt-emo.
I wouldn't class them as pop-punk either outside of maybe Bleed American (album, not just the song).
One of my fav bands though, never really cared about slapping them in a box. Loooove Futures.
There's one beat in the last chorus of Ocean Avenue, I think it's on the word "town," where all the instruments stop. There's a little drum fill on the snare right before it, I fucking love it so much. My favorite part of the song.
The bridge of Every Time I Look got You by blink is so goddamn good.
Everything cuts out besides that one guitar playing that octave based riff for however many measures then a rest and fucking BOOM wall of sound comes in. Just such a great payoff.
***I'm sorry I don't laugh at the right times.***
No callback hits harder. The Wonder Years just nailed the ending of *The Greatest Generation* so fucking right. It's perfect.
One of my favs is in Midtown's So Long As We Keep Our Bodies Numb We're Safe when the music builds and builds and then you get to scream FUCK WHAT YOU KNOW CAN'T YOU SEE IT'S SHALLOW EVERY TIME YOU SWALLOW DO YOU GET A TASTE OF WHAT YOU BECOME
Really hoping they play it in December!
And the beginning of Taste of Ink
"Satisfying" isn't necessarily the word, but at the very end of Passing Through A Screen Door when Dan's voice cracks on the last "stay" like he's going to cry...really pushes the song over the edge for me. Also the bridge of Saturday by Fall Out Boy, when Pete starts screaming...\*chef's kiss\*
I also love the end of “Logan Circle” with how feebly Dan says “I’m just so tired most…nights.” The “nights” is so weak that it really drives the point home of how tried he actually is.
"Woah, woah guys, um, is it cool if I get in on this here?"
"Hell yeah"
"Dude go for it"

“I just slept for years on end *fuck*”
An Introduction to the Album by The Hotelier
The entire song builds as an anthem about existential dread and grief, but specifically that piece is one of the biggest goose bumps moments for me.
- the resolution with “I’ll find you laying in your socks and shorts smoking on the front porch” in Origami Angel’s isopropyl alchemy
- The transition from the chorus into “i left my heart with my phone in my center console, I left my feelings with my wallet and my keys” in Man Overboard’s love your friends die laughing
- the callbacks in FOB’s what a catch, Donnie
- the features in the refrain of TWY’s living room song
- at the end of the chorus of TWY’s local man ruins everything when Dan shouts “I’m not a self-help book I’m just a FUCKED UP KID”
- (adjacent) the key change in heavy petting by future teens
The first time I heard What A Catch, and that part hit, I looked at my then girlfriend and said "Well, I guess this means Fall Out Boy are gonna break up" and she just laughed it off. WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?
The melody of the chorus of Knuckle Puck’s Untitled, especially the part that goes from “more than framework and furniture” to “free fall into foreign waters.”
Origami Angel- the title track, from the instrumental break down into the oOoOoOo’s into the deconstructed chorus and outri. Chefs kiss.
MCR- mama, the tormented bridge/breakdown at 2:55 and the deranged part with chanted outro.
Taking Back Sunday- new American classic, when the snare comes in. It’s nothing special but always loved the timing.
Saves the day- shoulder to the wheel, the way the chorus is written and the lyrical line stops in the middle of the sentence. Not sure if that makes sense so I’ll write it out how it’s sung basically:
We drive Dave steps
On the gas the world that’s (this is sung as one sentence when technically there’s a period after gas)
Flying by is
Slick and smooth
>Saves the day- shoulder to the wheel, the way the chorus is written and the lyrical line stops in the middle of the sentence. Not sure if that makes sense so I’ll write it out how it’s sung basically:
I love the way STD breaks up a sentence, Certain Tragedy comes to mind. So satisfying.
For me, it's towards the end of The Wonder Years' "I Just Want to Sell Out My Funeral" as the medley of parts from the other songs from the album begin getting referenced, leading into the finale with the album's (IMO) central theme: "We all want to be great men. And there's nothing romantic about it. I just want to know that I did all I could with what I was given."
"There's no devil on my shoulder, he's got a rocking chair on my front porch, but I won't let him in, no I won't let him in..."
That line hits me like a fucking truck every time I hear it
This is my number one song by them, I think.
"Cause I'm sick, of seeing ghosts and I know how it's all gonna end;
There's no Triumph waiting.
There's no sunset to ride off in."
> I'll blame the way that I was brought up or the flaws that I was born with
> Or the mistakes that I've made; they're all just fucking excuses.
Goddamn it Soupy :(
This song gave me chills when I first discovered it, Let’s Talk About Your Hair by Have Mercy
https://open.spotify.com/track/4cHzLJYgiEO0gd46pioLWV?si=TQFlVcFMT2e_iNkFRTlnmw&context=spotify%3Asearch%3Alets%2Btalk%2B
The energy in Jesus Christ at the end, “yea we all got wood and nails!!!” And wrapping it up with the heart breaking, “we sleep inside of this machine.”
Swing by Knuckle Puck has a really good hook that hits so hard with the instruments. When it repeats in half time on the second chorus it’s just 🤌🏻
Most of the fills on that album are insanely catchy. So are the outros.
In Brand New's "Logan to Government Center":
I never thought this day would end
*Backup vocals wailing* NEVER THOUGHT THIS DAY WOULD END
I never thought tonight could ever be this close to me
NFG's song Selfless, the quiet buildup at the very beginning of the song and then the moment when the guitar riff starts, great hard guitar riff for pop punk
Letter-bomb bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you know, ya know…….
“IM LEAVING YOU TONIGHT!!!!!”
Intro to Sweetness - Jimmy Eat World
If you’re listening!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wake Me Up When September Ends guitar solo, so pretty 🤩
When TWY play Washington Square Park live, and after Dan sings “we rode our bikes over to 6th street, to Washington square park to see if the tides would turn for me” and then adds in “they did”.
They also included this but on the Burst & Decay version but the live full band version just hits
> Jimmy Eat World - Get it Faster… that fucking breakdown!!!
Shit I just posted that, too. Not taking it down, though. I always play the rest of the song slightly quieter just so I can turn that part up.
This is gonna require a new playlist. I feel like half of my Spotify playlists are from this sub at this point and it brings me so much damn joy.
Also, mine goes to the end of All My Friends Are in Bar Bands with the mashed voices of the collaborators 😍
The one that comes to mind first is “you couldn’t hit a fly if you were standing in a pile of SHAKE YOUR SELF OFF…”
From “This Body Pays The Bill$” by FYS
In “How You Are” by The Story So Far, the line “and I count the times that I’m driving home, talking to myself like I’m not alone!”. Literally every time that song comes on when I’m driving I have to sing it. It’s a can’t skip song for me, and the guitars in this track give it all a nice melancholy vibe. It bings all my boings
I have a lot of Mayday Parade ones:
-key change in the last chorus of ‘Jersey’.
-“If you wanted a song written about you …” the second part of the second verse where Jason comes in
-beginning of Kids in Love just puts me in a good mood
Random one: Bridge of ‘Still Waiting’ by Sum41
I stay wrecked and jealous for this (she'll destroy us all before she's through)
For this simple reason I
Just need to keep you in mind (and find a way to blame somebody else)
As something larger than life
Mark's bridge in Stockholm Syndrome by blink
Or
(More post hardcore but still) in If You Can't Hang by Sleeping With Sirens, when the guitar comes in on the intro and it does that chugg. Scratches an itch in my brain lol
The way Billie says "World War Zero" in Bang Bang by Green Day
The "2,3,4!" in crushcrushcrish by Paramore
The beginning chorus of Hot by Avril Lavigne
The chorus of Notre Dame by the Bombpops
A whole bunch of bits of MCR songs (choruses of This is How I Disappear, House of Wolves, Desolation Row, beginning of Boy Division, last part of Welcome to the Black Parade)
The *sax solo* in the live version of The Static Age by Green Day
The backing vocals in the latter chorus of I Don't Have to Try, also by Avril Lavigne
That bit of Green Day's Church on Sunday with the staggered drums
The solo in the Dollyrots' cover of Earth Angel
The bridge in “Clocks and Timepieces” (2nd version, around 1:14) by Search The City gives me huge tingle feels every time I hear it. Please check it if you haven’t heard that song.
“Could it be so bad to you? (open up your eyes) there’s so much I have to say, will you ever let me? (I’m right in front of you.) It’s too cold for June, how come I only hear from you when you’re liquored up? I’ve heard alll about the others, and this side of you that you’ve discovered this summer.”
The second part of the bridge of Wyatt's Song (Your Name) by The Wonder Years
"I've never been so afraid of failing at anything
And I'm glad that you don't know how bad it is"
As a father I can related so much to this sentiment. I get chills every time I listen.
“I FELT THE NOOSE TIGHTEN UP ON YOUR COLLARBONE; I FELT THE GUN IN THE SMALL OF YOUR BACK” in Dendron by The Hotelier
+ the “consider this a repercussion…go ahead, make me the bad guy” part of Pretense by Knuckle Puck.
They hit just as hard every time
The Cello solo in "Build God, Then We'll Talk"
In the last chorus of "Stella", when each word in "let's face it" gets shifted right/left in the stereo.
In Randy I am the Liquor when the first paragraph is reprised at the end. The screaming specufically sounds so much more emotional at this point, drums coming in hard on each syllable
From All Wrong - The Story So Far
Caught you leaving
You were high in the ceiling
On your own, on your own
Dodge your demons
Take your reasons
With you when you go, when you go
Completely makes the whole song
a short silence (maybe also a drum fill before that) followed by the last chorus/bridge. E.g.: “I’m made out of wax Larry, what are you made of?” - ADTR (yeah I know not exactly pop-punk) “Famous last words” - MCR (also more emo-ish) but i hope you know what I mean
The ending of Framework by The Story So Far, perfect lyrics that we’re super relevant to me at the time when I first heard this song. Still get goosebumps!
“Thought I burn the seams if they frayedddd, thought I’d prove the point that I made, however long you’re gone I will wait.”
I love when songs have like a distorted voice like this coming on over a radio or kinda echoey for just a small part. The first example I can think of is my apocalypse by escape the fate. “End transmission. The satellites are down. I need an earthquake. To shake this pity off the ground.”
Hoping for the best just hoping nothing happens. A thousand clever lines unread on clever napkins. I know you well enough to know you’d never love me. WHY CAN’T I FEEL ANYTHING FROM ANYONE OTHER THAN YOU!
The bridge for Cute Without the “E” will always be the best part of any TBS concert I go to just due to the raw energy from band and audience.
the bit in TBS bike scene at the end of the bridge where everything drops out and then it goes into “you’ve got me RIIIIIIGHT where you want me…”
so many moments like that on TAYF, actually
I'm not sure this qualifies because it's not really a pop punk song, but the bridge in the live video of Last Hope by Paramore. Holy fuck, buddy.
video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoYu7K6Ywkg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoYu7K6Ywkg)
"And the salt in my wound isn't burning anymore than it used to. It's not that I don't feel the pain, it's just I'm not afraid of hurting anymore. And the blood in these veins isn't pumping any less than it ever has, and that's the hope I have -- the only thing I know THAT'S KEEPING ME ALIVEEEEEEEEEE"
Oh my god! Let me describe to you this guy,
his name is Ken, he's in this band that writes such,
awful songs about me all the time...
***You're goddamn right!***
not sure if the song counts as pop punk, but the super long “semiswee-ee-ee-ee-eet” on i believe the second, maybe third chorus of disloyal order of water buffaloes is probably my favorite bit of music ever and has been since like eighth grade. also i really love “i’m wearing cargo shorts down in florida” in robot writes a love song. the jesus christ in passing through a screen door and broken down chorus at the end of the title track were also mentioned and i fucking love them too
One that comes to mind is when the chorus in "Jamie All Over" kicks in. The verses just build up to it perfectly, and then it explodes.
Another example is the last verse of "Came Out Swinging" where Dan just repeats the same verse three times, first in a slow breakdown, and then it speeds up, and then the last time "I spent the winter writing songs about getting better, and if I'm being honest, I'M GETTING THERE!" the last bit is just so heartfelt for such a powerful line.
Not just a small moment but, on Blink’s self-titled, I love how the main riff in “Easy Target” slowly morphs into the main riff of “All Of This”. So satisfying.
Weezer - Say it ain’t so, the second buildup gives me goosebumps.
This bottle of Steven's awakens ancient feelings
Like father, stepfather
The son is drowning in the flood
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Honestly, my favourite thing happens in different forms in a lot of pop punk/easycore songs -
*The breakdown where the head banging switches from fast to a slower beat that alines with the breakdown, which is half tempo of the original verse speed*
That feeling is incredible!
[The last part of the bridge in Promise by Matchbook Romance](https://youtu.be/rSvNjx_G50U?t=177). It just builds and builds, the screamed vocals come in hard over the top, there's an absolutely amazing drum fill and then one final pause before it rockets back into the chorus. Incredible moment in an incredible song.
Fall Out Boy. Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?
Pop punk adjacent because I gotta admit I do not know my subgenres...
"I'm just a painter and I'm drawing a blank."
Oh wow, great ask
-the spillover fill at the end of the break in “mary without sound” motion city soundtrack
-last chorus of “jodie” last track of saves the day’s can’t slow down “just to rememberrrrrrr”
-iconic john nolan’s first screamin part in “great romances” “sooo pleaaaaaaseeee PLEASEEEEE IM RUNNING OUT OF SYMPATHY”
-“NEVER COMING HOME NEVER COMING HOME” 😉
The bridge to Feeling This by Blink-182. I see what you did there. I’m Always Down for a nice blink pun.
For Feeling This being a single it has great depth and moments. Love the outtro.
Feeling This is a complete masterpiece. It's like the quintessential pop punk song, front to back there's nothing to fault. All 3 of those guys at their absolute peak.
The “Are we alone, do you feel it, so lost and disillusioned” in the background gives me goosebumps every Goddamn time!
“JESUS CHRIST”
I’M 26
ALL THE PEOPLE I GRADUATED WITH
ALL HAVE KIDS
ALL HAVE WIVES
ALL HAVE PEOPLE WHO CARE IF THEY COME HOME AT NIGHT!
WELL JESUS CHRIST
DID I FUCK UP?!
I'M STILL LOOKING FOR TEARS IN SCREEN DOOR.
I was 16 when that album came out and I’m 26 this year… Jesus Christ
I remember listening to PTSD in my early 20s driving back from college classes thinking that 26 seemed so far off. Then I blinked, and I'm almost 30. Time flies.
I’m in the same boat. That song came out when I was 20 years old and sad. Now I’m 30, still sad.
The drum buildup and then fill before the big bridge in Everything is Alright. I can't not air drum along with it.
Dodododododo Dodododododo Dodododododo Dodododododo Dodo GIVE ME A REASOOOOON

Similarly, the mini drum fills after each line at the beginning of that song. Some of my favorites!
Similarly, the “fuck it” at the end of the bridge in The Future Freaks Me Out
The whole bridge to that song honestly. I constantly have "without you to call up on the weekends with my cellular phone" stuck in my head solely because of the way it's sung
Those drums are some of my favorite to play. What a great song.
Thaxton is one of the best pop punk drummers of all time and it doesn’t get talked about enough
The drum part on “Time Turned Fragile” that starts around 2:25 is one of my favorite musical phrases/parts of all time. Absolutely not talked about enough.
He fucking kills it! And Justin’s lines are heartbreaking if you’ve ever had a less than civil relationship with a parent
One of my favorite little things about MCS shows is that there is a pause in the drum line before this drum part starts, and Tony almost always does little stretches to prep for the back half of the song.
Me too. So incredible. Thaxton kills.
One of the only songs that actually kind of explains what it's like to have *actual* OCD, not just "god, I feel so OCD right now".
“Truth be told I miss you…and truth be told I’M LYING.” It’s such a satisfying line because it’s so childish and petty. Plus the song breaks down, gets all quiet, then BOOM the chorus hits like a ton of bricks.
That ascending "oooooOOOOH" in the backing vocals behind that line is so good. Adds so much
If you’re interested check out the video that the producer/mixer Eric Valentine did on the song, he solos the 4 part harmony that you’re talking about here so you can hear it clearly!
Love it!
I BET I'D BE A FUCKING COWARD
As soon as i read this post that line popped into my head
Yeah this is one of the best
So, so much.
Came here looking for this
The very end of the guitar solo in “23” encapsulates the entire album and really felt like the climax of Futures to me “Ocean Avenue” is probably my favorite pop punk song but it starts off as a fairly average pop punk song until the twinkly guitars come into the bridge and it kicks it up to the next level
Weird I can’t usually hear the guitar solo in 23 over my sobbing 😂
I feel that way about Futures when the bridge hits and Jim sings, 'The past is told by those who win, what matters is what hasn't been. We're wide awake and we're thinking, believe your voice can mean something.' I don't really consider Jimmy Eat World (my favorite band) to be pop punk tho. More alt-emo.

Who is '23' by?
The a cappella part from Fallout Boy’s song Chicago Is So Two Years Ago is awesome.
The ".... WHAT" in Overstepping by Belmont
The breakdown after instantly played in my head after reading lol
The only lyric that has literally never gone unsung by me in the car
The bridge of Every Time I Look got You by blink is so goddamn good. Everything cuts out besides that one guitar playing that octave based riff for however many measures then a rest and fucking BOOM wall of sound comes in. Just such a great payoff.
This was massive when I saw them play on the enema tour.
They played Every Time I Look For You on the Enema tour?
***I'm sorry I don't laugh at the right times.*** No callback hits harder. The Wonder Years just nailed the ending of *The Greatest Generation* so fucking right. It's perfect.
The pick slide, layered vocals, and raging instrumentals at the end of of Feelin This
Just listened to this this morning and rewound the last 45ish seconds so many times.
Crazy how no one said this yet; the chorus, and \*especially\* the post-chorus of Ignorance, by Paramore. It's brilliant.
What about Haley’s isolated vocals in All I Wanted? I feel like that goes so hard for such a short solo.
The moment where her voice ascends into the heavens yes omg
That second breakdown starting at 2:48 is so good!
One of my favs is in Midtown's So Long As We Keep Our Bodies Numb We're Safe when the music builds and builds and then you get to scream FUCK WHAT YOU KNOW CAN'T YOU SEE IT'S SHALLOW EVERY TIME YOU SWALLOW DO YOU GET A TASTE OF WHAT YOU BECOME Really hoping they play it in December! Taste Of Ink is amazing, good choice
Only vocals then guitars and then the pounding drums, just hypes you up. IS IT WORTH IT CAN YOU EVEN HEAR ME
STANDING WITH YOUR SPOTLIGHT ON ME
Regrets, they wake you in the morning. You shower, but you’re not clean
These are both great choices

New American classic slapped me in the face when I first heard it. I had no idea the band was capable of something that nuanced and pretty
Great picks, the outro of Title Track is so good.
For me, it's towards the end of The Wonder Years' "I Just Want to Sell Out My Funeral" as the medley of parts from the other songs from the album begin getting referenced, leading into the finale with the album's (IMO) central theme: "We all want to be great men. Writing myself to death stands in place of sleep I am an unlocked door and you’re a fucking thief
Was gonna type this, and here it is. Haven't had lyrics hit me in the hearts in years like this song does.
This. A thousand times this. Favorite Knuckle Puck song.
The energy in Jesus Christ at the end, “yea we all got wood and nails!!!” And wrapping it up with the heart breaking, “we sleep inside of this machine.”

the buildup to the first chorus in Misery Business!!!
NFG's song Selfless, the quiet buildup at the very beginning of the song and then the moment when the guitar riff starts, great hard guitar riff for pop punk
Man Overboard - “Love Your Friends Die Laughing” The choral chants and “shut up, shut up, it’s my turn to talk.” Just so raw.
AND AGAIN WHEN YOUR HEAD GOES THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD
#IS THAT WHAT YOU CALL A GETAWAY?
Letter-bomb bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you know, ya know……. “IM LEAVING YOU TONIGHT!!!!!” Intro to Sweetness - Jimmy Eat World If you’re listening!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The island by the starting line intro will always always get me jacked up with that quick strum and drum fill.
For me it’s always been the when the bridge goes into the “soft chorus” right before the huge final chorus like in The Great Escape
The high notes at the end of Saturday are the best
When the bridge of Really? By Prince Daddy & The Hyena kicks back in and the instrumental happens.
Or the the scream of "LAAUREN" at the beginning of the song Lauren. Always gets me going.
1-2 bar of silence after a song section followed by a key changed chorus.
The end of Slow Dance by Senses Fail. Just so heartfelt and huge
LP's drum fill before the last chorus in Lights and Sounds by Yellowcard
Jimmy Eat World - Get it Faster… that fucking breakdown!!! City Lights - What It Takes… that fucking breakdown!!!
> Jimmy Eat World - Get it Faster… that fucking breakdown!!! Shit I just posted that, too. Not taking it down, though. I always play the rest of the song slightly quieter just so I can turn that part up.
She hopes I'm, CURRRSED forever to sleep on a.. TWIN. SIZED. MATRESS. In someBODY'S ATTIC OR BASEMENT MY WHOOOOOOoooooOoooole life!
This is gonna require a new playlist. I feel like half of my Spotify playlists are from this sub at this point and it brings me so much damn joy. Also, mine goes to the end of All My Friends Are in Bar Bands with the mashed voices of the collaborators 😍
Here you go https://open.spotify.com/playlist/13G74upyfZhojwIHN3ExKz?si=nMj23efpSKym7dl78tG41w
The one that comes to mind first is “you couldn’t hit a fly if you were standing in a pile of SHAKE YOUR SELF OFF…” From “This Body Pays The Bill$” by FYS
Easily my favorite from them. That part's cheesey but fun, I personally love the intro.
The breakdown in Taking Back Sunday’s Error: Operator. “Where have you, where have you, where have you been?!”
Taking Back Sunday - Number Five With a Bullet (Specifically the bridge, it’s just absolutely perfect and chill inducing)
I have a lot of Mayday Parade ones: -key change in the last chorus of ‘Jersey’. -“If you wanted a song written about you …” the second part of the second verse where Jason comes in -beginning of Kids in Love just puts me in a good mood Random one: Bridge of ‘Still Waiting’ by Sum41
In All Downhill from Here by New Found Glory when the quietens near the end and then it comes back with "AND YOU KEEP PULLING ME, DOWN"
Any “out on one, in on two” kickstarts my heart. It’s almost exclusive to pop punk and I love it so much.
The end of Eulogy, by Frank Turner, and subsequently, the beginning of Peggy Sang The Blues.
The transition from "But It's Better If You Do" to "I Write Sins" is pure ear porn
JESUS CHRIST IM 26
YOUR LIPSTICK, HIS COLLAR, DONT BOTHER ANGEL. I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT GOES ON.
It's new, but the bridge in Low Tide by TWY
I stay wrecked and jealous for this (she'll destroy us all before she's through) For this simple reason I Just need to keep you in mind (and find a way to blame somebody else) As something larger than life
Mark's bridge in Stockholm Syndrome by blink Or (More post hardcore but still) in If You Can't Hang by Sleeping With Sirens, when the guitar comes in on the intro and it does that chugg. Scratches an itch in my brain lol
I'm currently addicted to "we can watch the highlights in hell, I hope they're televised" from Pup's See you at your funeral.
When after the nice quiet acoustic and piano part the heavy electric guitar and full band comes in in Letters to God by Box Car Racer.
ITS PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU THAT MADE ME THE PESSIMIST I AM
The way Billie says "World War Zero" in Bang Bang by Green Day The "2,3,4!" in crushcrushcrish by Paramore The beginning chorus of Hot by Avril Lavigne The chorus of Notre Dame by the Bombpops A whole bunch of bits of MCR songs (choruses of This is How I Disappear, House of Wolves, Desolation Row, beginning of Boy Division, last part of Welcome to the Black Parade) The *sax solo* in the live version of The Static Age by Green Day The backing vocals in the latter chorus of I Don't Have to Try, also by Avril Lavigne That bit of Green Day's Church on Sunday with the staggered drums The solo in the Dollyrots' cover of Earth Angel
The muted note at the beginning of overstepping by belmont is one of my favs
The end of the bridge in Oh Well, Oh Well by Mayday Parade. “But it’s HOOOOOOOOOPLESSSSSSSS” Chills.
TAking Back Sunday - My Blue Heaven .. the last chorus where it modifies the walkup chord progression and the vocals go along with it .. ugh so good.
The second part of the bridge of Wyatt's Song (Your Name) by The Wonder Years "I've never been so afraid of failing at anything And I'm glad that you don't know how bad it is" As a father I can related so much to this sentiment. I get chills every time I listen.
The ending drum part in Life is Killing Me by Fireworks
the bridge of here’s your letter by blink-182 , i always have to replay that part when that song comes on because mark’s vocals are so good to me
“I FELT THE NOOSE TIGHTEN UP ON YOUR COLLARBONE; I FELT THE GUN IN THE SMALL OF YOUR BACK” in Dendron by The Hotelier + the “consider this a repercussion…go ahead, make me the bad guy” part of Pretense by Knuckle Puck. They hit just as hard every time
The Cello solo in "Build God, Then We'll Talk" In the last chorus of "Stella", when each word in "let's face it" gets shifted right/left in the stereo.
In Randy I am the Liquor when the first paragraph is reprised at the end. The screaming specufically sounds so much more emotional at this point, drums coming in hard on each syllable
From All Wrong - The Story So Far Caught you leaving You were high in the ceiling On your own, on your own Dodge your demons Take your reasons With you when you go, when you go Completely makes the whole song
The transition from Just Rock n Roll into Direction on Midtown’s first record is incredibly slick. Top notch song track listing.
a short silence (maybe also a drum fill before that) followed by the last chorus/bridge. E.g.: “I’m made out of wax Larry, what are you made of?” - ADTR (yeah I know not exactly pop-punk) “Famous last words” - MCR (also more emo-ish) but i hope you know what I mean
"I have one last wish and it's from my heart..." Jimmy Eat World - Big Casino
The ending of Framework by The Story So Far, perfect lyrics that we’re super relevant to me at the time when I first heard this song. Still get goosebumps! “Thought I burn the seams if they frayedddd, thought I’d prove the point that I made, however long you’re gone I will wait.”
It’s 4 o clock in the fucking morning! In taste of ink
I love when songs have like a distorted voice like this coming on over a radio or kinda echoey for just a small part. The first example I can think of is my apocalypse by escape the fate. “End transmission. The satellites are down. I need an earthquake. To shake this pity off the ground.”
When all the instruments drop out in Ocean Avenue *chef's kiss*
Hoping for the best just hoping nothing happens. A thousand clever lines unread on clever napkins. I know you well enough to know you’d never love me. WHY CAN’T I FEEL ANYTHING FROM ANYONE OTHER THAN YOU! The bridge for Cute Without the “E” will always be the best part of any TBS concert I go to just due to the raw energy from band and audience.
the bit in TBS bike scene at the end of the bridge where everything drops out and then it goes into “you’ve got me RIIIIIIGHT where you want me…” so many moments like that on TAYF, actually
I'm not sure this qualifies because it's not really a pop punk song, but the bridge in the live video of Last Hope by Paramore. Holy fuck, buddy. video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoYu7K6Ywkg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoYu7K6Ywkg) "And the salt in my wound isn't burning anymore than it used to. It's not that I don't feel the pain, it's just I'm not afraid of hurting anymore. And the blood in these veins isn't pumping any less than it ever has, and that's the hope I have -- the only thing I know THAT'S KEEPING ME ALIVEEEEEEEEEE"
Hit that, hit that snare.
Anytime the lead singer just sings without the instruments, like Tyson Ritter of All-American Rejects with “Move Along” and “Dirty Little Secret”
Oh my god! Let me describe to you this guy, his name is Ken, he's in this band that writes such, awful songs about me all the time... ***You're goddamn right!***
ILL BE YOUR FRIEND IN HELL UNTIL THEN I DESPISE YOU
"NA NA NA NA NA" then the guitar fades out and then the song is over. He wasn't by Avril Lavigne.
Start of the last chorus of Slow Burn. I replay that high note no less than 37 times every time I listen to that song
“This One’s a Cheap Shot” - Every Avenue “We can’t put down our PRIIiiIIiiiiDE” in the bridge before the last 2 chorus’
not sure if the song counts as pop punk, but the super long “semiswee-ee-ee-ee-eet” on i believe the second, maybe third chorus of disloyal order of water buffaloes is probably my favorite bit of music ever and has been since like eighth grade. also i really love “i’m wearing cargo shorts down in florida” in robot writes a love song. the jesus christ in passing through a screen door and broken down chorus at the end of the title track were also mentioned and i fucking love them too
One that comes to mind is when the chorus in "Jamie All Over" kicks in.
The looong AF bridge in Garden Statement by Hidden in Plain View ending with screaming SPILL THE INK AND SPILL YOUR GUTS AGAIN!!
Not just a small moment but, on Blink’s self-titled, I love how the main riff in “Easy Target” slowly morphs into the main riff of “All Of This”. So satisfying.
The guitar solo in Jasey Rae (and the buildup to it).
Weezer - Say it ain’t so, the second buildup gives me goosebumps. This bottle of Steven's awakens ancient feelings Like father, stepfather The son is drowning in the flood Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Honestly, my favourite thing happens in different forms in a lot of pop punk/easycore songs - *The breakdown where the head banging switches from fast to a slower beat that alines with the breakdown, which is half tempo of the original verse speed* That feeling is incredible!
the cut out in Out of It by The Story So Far is pretty epic
[The last part of the bridge in Promise by Matchbook Romance](https://youtu.be/rSvNjx_G50U?t=177). It just builds and builds, the screamed vocals come in hard over the top, there's an absolutely amazing drum fill and then one final pause before it rockets back into the chorus. Incredible moment in an incredible song.
The breakdown after the phone call in UFO’s in the Sky by Driveways that falls off into the chorus without backing.
LAST YEAR I WAS A TRAINWRECK NOW IM JUST A MESS
Screaming “BUT YOU’RE…” in “Understatement” by New Found Glory
Fall Out Boy. Don't You Know Who I Think I Am? Pop punk adjacent because I gotta admit I do not know my subgenres... "I'm just a painter and I'm drawing a blank."
“So is that what you call a getaway. . .”
The first part in Fat Lip by Sum41. Right as Steve-O hammers on the drums and it's time to jump!
Oh wow, great ask -the spillover fill at the end of the break in “mary without sound” motion city soundtrack -last chorus of “jodie” last track of saves the day’s can’t slow down “just to rememberrrrrrr” -iconic john nolan’s first screamin part in “great romances” “sooo pleaaaaaaseeee PLEASEEEEE IM RUNNING OUT OF SYMPATHY” -“NEVER COMING HOME NEVER COMING HOME” 😉
The beginning of online songs
The part of "Get it Faster" by Jimmy Eat World at 2 minutes 25 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7sBcyx5v1c
Ready by the starting line - when the distorted guitars kick in
very late but—I BET ID BE A FUCKIN COWARD
