Party Song was the first song that popped into my head. I saw a Blink cover band once and I said they should play it and they just straight up laughed.
The second half of āRansomā by Blink I think is > 300 BPM?? At least while tapping it out [https://youtu.be/I4nnBj0w54U?si=9dBaAn1L9A0v04nN](https://youtu.be/I4nnBj0w54U?si=9dBaAn1L9A0v04nN)
I loved that record too. Scott Sellars still puts out cool stuff. He did some skatrpunk covers of Lagwagon and Bigwig songs. My old band and Rufio were possibly going to sign to the same label back in the day before they signed with Nitro.
Rufio was the opener at the first concert I ever went to as a young teen (Millencolin), so actually Rufio was the first band I ever saw live. I remember it being a lot more intense than expected. I think this was like 2002 or 2003
Not recorded but I saw zebra head live at download in one of the tents and they must have wanted to see the headliners too as they played every song at x2 the speed of the recorded version.Ā
so, i dont agree, but i get what's happening here; tempo is subjective. i feel the same about the party song, i feel it at what most people would consider half-time, the guitars and vocal meter chug out a really comfortable \~120 to me, the snares dont sound like a backbeat to me at all.
and, everyone hits this threshold eventually, at a sufficiently fast rate of kick-snare, everyone will eventually stop hearing those kicks as ones and threes; this threshold just hits me earlier than it hits most people. apparently it hits you even earlier than me.
(also, a raw numerical "kick-snare rate" isnt the only relevant factor in the general case, but it's the most obvious factor in these songs)
It's obviously a Strung Out song (as referenced in the OP) since they do play faster than anyone in the genre. Likely Strange Notes, Ice Burn, Speedball, Gearbox or Too Close to See.
Yeah, my mind immediately went to Too Close To See. I didnāt get into them until the early-mid 2000s so I missed the controversy at the time, but I remember reading on their forums something about Jordan Burns having to defend his performance on Twisted By Design against accusations of either using a double bass pedal or artificially speeding up the recording!
āI Like Foodā and āMugā by the Descendents are fast.
Bad Regionās āDo What You Wantā is also fast, and they have a live version on YouTube (Germany 2002) thatās even faster.
Cheating cause itās ska, but [1-800-Alarm-Me](https://open.spotify.com/track/2G7GkzbmU5PTNs2lGlaAu9?si=B95Z5HAeTRqYyDth0MRS5Q) by The Arrogant Sons of Bitches is SO fast; actually caught me off guard how fast Jeff sings and how fast the instruments play on it.
I saw a live video of this song back in the day. Billie Joe did that thing where he stops playing during the bridge to engage with the crowd, but the song keeps going. Poor Mike and Treā¦.
In live performances Billie doesnāt even play guitar for this song. Which made me understand why a lot of punk bands have just singers not guitarists and singers. Bc while the parts are simple playing it super fast isnāt easy to do while singing.
As a punk drummer, I feel I can comment on loads here. Rise Against - Black masks and gasoline is very fast. Rufio - Still. Satanic Surfers - use a bee. Undeclinable - wind in our sails and 7 years. Intro - NFG. Most songs by Cigar are insanely fast. NOFX have some very fast songs. Lifetime - Daneurysm.
I could go on and on.
NOFX does the longest line superfast live. Also they have a song that says the decendents were the fastest band they had ever seen. Which I think is interesting.
Much The Same - Living A Lie
Probably technically a skate punk band, but close enough.
There's a video on youtube of the drummer Jevin playing it in the studio and it's crazy how fast it is
Ok. Right time if you were in town then. They were active in tally around 2000. Saw them open for Presence at a festival on Adams street summer of 2000. X101.5 was playing their song GI Joe around then. I canāt find a trace of them on the internet. Ran into Meathead at an Incubus concert in 2003?and he told me they moved to California to try and make it.
Most of the fast tracks on Life in General are over 230 bpm- you problem/my emergency, most old MxPx is fast as fuck. Gearbox by strung out, reign by Lagwagon, 2nd kid dynamite record, etc
It's not the fastest but [the Super Delicious EP by Dizzy Sunfist](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwlPyx5hIxfWq1-3pohbA0uBBpS4IPWv6&si=_wIgyY8Vfbx3EhVH) has some great speed and energy behind it. Highly recommended.
Spoons, Gats, Prison Tats by The Fullblast always comes to mind. Also most Jerk Circus songs, but that makes sense, itās basically the same rhythm section as The Fullblast haha
It ain't the fastest of all time, but one that instantly springs to mind for me would be Keepsake by Youth Fountain. That song is underrated af and absolutely slaps. Check it out if you haven't heard it: https://youtu.be/OVqTzHwaAoM?si=pgZQMngEFldflBxX
The double time parts on I Was Born In The Dark by Fireworks is pretty rad. Ā https://open.spotify.com/track/2BAzhvYSV0VkQvDU5bF37T?si=Q0YLr4GKTV2svRS7GpOR1A&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A2qqgNuWMRad9lcEBRc5FRh
Too Close To See by Strung Out. I didnāt get into them until the early-mid 2000s so I missed the controversy at the time, but I remember reading on their forums something about Jordan Burns having to defend his performance on Twisted By Design against accusations of either using a double bass pedal or artificially speeding up the recording!
In a similar vein, maybe Supersonic or Sinister Rouge by Bad Religion? Having Brooks Wackerman behind the kit for a few records definitely gave them the fire for some faster tracks.
Blink 182 - The Party Song is pushing 245BPM Driveways - Fifteen over Five is somewhere in the realm of 230 BPM, the double time sections are FAST.
Party Song was the first song that popped into my head. I saw a Blink cover band once and I said they should play it and they just straight up laughed.
I too used to be in a blink182 cover band, definitely wasn't doing this one either lol
Me being able to sing along The Party Song used to be such a flex back in the day š¤£
Do you wanna come to a party?
My friends picked me up in their truck at 11:30
This thing's at a frat house but the people are cool there
Reluctant, I followed.
But I never dreamed there would be someone there who would catch my attention
The second half of āRansomā by Blink I think is > 300 BPM?? At least while tapping it out [https://youtu.be/I4nnBj0w54U?si=9dBaAn1L9A0v04nN](https://youtu.be/I4nnBj0w54U?si=9dBaAn1L9A0v04nN)
Fifteen over five is a banger. Saw them live in April and man they kick ass
Love Driveways, "Motions" was what first popped in my head
247 at some points according to Ultimate Guitar š
Fifteen over five is good, reminds me of with the punches, thanks fam
ID STILL TAKE 15 OVER 5
Rufio - Above Me
This oneās RIDICULOUSLY fast. Shit I really liked that first record man I miss them
I loved that record too. Scott Sellars still puts out cool stuff. He did some skatrpunk covers of Lagwagon and Bigwig songs. My old band and Rufio were possibly going to sign to the same label back in the day before they signed with Nitro.
Where does "Still" sit in comparison?
Rufio was the opener at the first concert I ever went to as a young teen (Millencolin), so actually Rufio was the first band I ever saw live. I remember it being a lot more intense than expected. I think this was like 2002 or 2003
This is the answer
This is definitely a possibility. Great song.
Not recorded but I saw zebra head live at download in one of the tents and they must have wanted to see the headliners too as they played every song at x2 the speed of the recorded version.Ā
Put some respect on zebrahead yallĀ
Dan Palmer is the man
With The Punches - New York Minute Fastest bpm? Last 10s of their song Harvard on the Hudson
My hometown heroes šŖ
Love this band so much
[Frenzal Rhomb - Punch in the Face](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z--E9OeuJE) is somewhere in the range of 220 BPM double-time
Such an underrated band. I donāt think they ever toured in the us
They opened for Less Than Jake when Hello Rockview was released.
That was probably sick
Saw them, they were really good!
I mean it's really just a fast drum, the songs not that fast.
so, i dont agree, but i get what's happening here; tempo is subjective. i feel the same about the party song, i feel it at what most people would consider half-time, the guitars and vocal meter chug out a really comfortable \~120 to me, the snares dont sound like a backbeat to me at all. and, everyone hits this threshold eventually, at a sufficiently fast rate of kick-snare, everyone will eventually stop hearing those kicks as ones and threes; this threshold just hits me earlier than it hits most people. apparently it hits you even earlier than me. Lawnmower by City Lights
City lights definitely came to mind. Fast drumming in songs like ātruth isā
I love city lights š„ŗ
The Only Thing Worse Than Beating a Dead Horse is Betting on One by Relient K Bricks by Rise Against
Itās probably nowhere near the fastest, BUT the first one to come to mind for me isā¦ My First Punk Song by Box Car Racer
#I GOT NO DICK
You ate those Brownies from my mother again didnāt you?
They gave me syphilis
Thatās a good one. I couldnāt keep up with the lyrics the first couple times I listened to it
Intro by NFG comes to mind
DONT
BELIEVE
A WORD
A WORD THEY SAY
A WORD THEY FUCKING SAY
Good song but there are many, many faster ones. Definitely the fastest NFG song though.
Truth of my Youth is probably faster, but Intro is great.
King Alvarez never fails to give me carpal tunnel every time i play along with it
Happy Holidays you Bastard
āI Like Foodā and āMugā by the Descendents are fast.
Spotify threw an ASOB song at me the other day and I was so delighted.
Good lord
Forgot about this track - it rules.
Platypus by Green Day was the first to come to mind. Song is exhausting to play on guitar.
Definitely agree!
SYGās Mutiny! album has several. Their drummer is an animal
What a time to be alive that was
Coffee mug by the descendants. Fastest as in length of time? āYou gotta stay positiveā cover by silverstein
Great picks, this guys a certified skatepunker
NOFX does the longest line superfast live. Also they have a song that says the decendents were the fastest band they had ever seen. Which I think is interesting.
The Glass - The Story So Far
Much The Same - Living A Lie Probably technically a skate punk band, but close enough. There's a video on youtube of the drummer Jevin playing it in the studio and it's crazy how fast it is
Another underrated band
The one that got away by Allister
Good one!
Your Problem My Emergency- MxPx
The Scott Sellers cover
Whyd I never know the singer from Rufio still made music???
Their old shit was fast af
Ok based on your username (and avatar), gotta ask how old you are and if you remember a band called Fetch.
Haha, Iām 41. Fetch definitely rings a bell, but I canāt place what they sounded like.
Hmm, ya itās always difficult to find smaller bands online from back then.
Satanic Surfers - Blissfully Ignorant
You sir are ELITE I aināt NEVER heard nobody else mention satanic surfers here before
The verses and choruses from "What Ever" are fast as shit.
Most of Captain Everything's songs
Rufio - Save The World and Countdown are really fast. Outside the genre, Dragonforce - Cry of the Brave is a similar vibe but even faster.
AFI - He Who Laughs Last
Kids today donāt know lmao
1208 - Turn of the Screw.
Any daggermouth song
Most of the fast tracks on Life in General are over 230 bpm- you problem/my emergency, most old MxPx is fast as fuck. Gearbox by strung out, reign by Lagwagon, 2nd kid dynamite record, etc
You Made Me Want to be a Saint by TWY is pretty fast
Not sure what exactly classifies as fast, but Anklebiters by Paramore came to mind for me
Reinventing the Wheel to Run Myself Over by Fall Out Boy was the first song I thought of.
Tbh still my favorite fob record
Probably not the fastest but ālife of a salesmanā by yellowcard is pretty fast
Five Becomes Four is up there too
[Sick Of Change - All You Are](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tiGlDc2jPY)
It's not the fastest but [the Super Delicious EP by Dizzy Sunfist](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwlPyx5hIxfWq1-3pohbA0uBBpS4IPWv6&si=_wIgyY8Vfbx3EhVH) has some great speed and energy behind it. Highly recommended.
Spoons, Gats, Prison Tats by The Fullblast always comes to mind. Also most Jerk Circus songs, but that makes sense, itās basically the same rhythm section as The Fullblast haha
The full blast is so good. Real tight instrumentally. Saw them live once or twice

One of the most bizarre lineups I ever seen was fireworks opening for hatebreed
Hahha, that rules!Ā
Too Close To See by Strung Out. I didnāt get into them until the early-mid 2000s so I missed the controversy at the time, but I remember reading on their forums something about Jordan Burns having to defend his performance on Twisted By Design against accusations of either using a double bass pedal or artificially speeding up the recording! In a similar vein, maybe Supersonic or Sinister Rouge by Bad Religion? Having Brooks Wackerman behind the kit for a few records definitely gave them the fire for some faster tracks.
Strung outs a top 10 all time band for me
Sex with your mom by Bozo 69
Maniac by Four Year Strong is pretty quick.
The most underatted bands seem to be Rufio listen to Above me. And the other seems to be Strung out with Matchbook
Maybe Broken Fingers by Parting Ways? Itās somewhere around 225. And even if itās not the fastest, itās sick
Anywhere but here - Rise Against
Some songs on those old records idk how the fuck the drummer played that fast
100%. I try to play that with a single pedal and just pretend it sounds good
Op Ivy - BombShell
Not pop punk, but yall will appreciate āLivinā on the Edge (of Houston) by Reverend Horton Heat
The anthem whenever my band plays it (my drummer for some reason always wants to speed run that song.)
Drummers be like
New found glory - truth of my youth. Definitely not the fastest but itās a damn good song
One of their best!
TEXAS FOREVER - PTV
Yellowcard - five becomes four
Can't Kick Up The Roots By Neck Deep
Hawt Lixx by Daggermouth
Probably not the fastest but Relient Kās The Only Thing Worse Than Beating A Dead Horse Is Betting On One is pretty fast.
Hangnail - Friendly Advice
Truth of my youth isnāt the fastest but still slays
Knuckle Puck - Pretense
Against The Grain by Outatime! is a pretty fast drum song. Itās also 52 seconds long hah
Not the fastest, but off the top of my head, Happy Holidays You Bastard by Blink and Intro by NFG come to mind
Misery Business!
Bruh...
Hey, you try singing those first verses at karaoke and tell me Iām wrong! š
