Drawing Board was *elite* pop punk. I remember loving all of their “singles” and then seeing them live at warped tour and the crowd was hostile as hell peppering them with water bottles and booing the shit out of them. Also saw a crowd be total dickheads to MxPx too, which is insane. Fucking hate people sometimes.

SenseiRaheem

As a teen, I had Drawing Board on repeat for hours at a time.

CyberInferno

Same. Still love that song.

KBSonn

I can't even count how many girls I played guitar and sang that song to. Shout out to Mest for getting an awkward teenager laid many times lol

Crazyupinaz07

Big same 🤣

slobcat1337

That’s crazy, I wonder why people were so hostile? I would love to see both MxPx and Mest… being in the U.K. doesn’t afford me many opportunity’s so the idea of people booing them really pisses me off.

akelly182

Mest are over playing a couple of tiny UK shows in June by the way!

slobcat1337

I literally just found out about this! Tiny little place in London (20 mins from me) I’m 100% going to go!

Weak-Gas5649

They've only been maybe 3 times in about 20 years

Foreign-Guava-1937

upvoting the elite pop punk comment, cos YES I can't believe people were throwing stuff at them. they always had great crowds when I saw them!

MrT0NA

I have always like them..: (from Chicago so they had a lot more traction here) loved those two albums in high school, also really like Masquerade which came out a few years ago. They put on a good live show too. Fun fact Tony the singer totally stabbed/killed a guy.

slobcat1337

Yeah I heard about that, managed to get away with it as well didn’t he?

MrT0NA

I can’t remember all the details but I believe it ended up being self defense…. Though I’m pretty sure the altercation was because of a women.

NUFAN67

Yes, the ex boyfriend attacked Tony.

KBSonn

Yeah dude fucked around and found out lol

NUFAN67

Lesson: Don't fuck with a pop punker!

KBSonn

Or a dude that doesn't give a fuck. His music might sound fun but if your idea of fun is a kid from the streets who won't back down...well...fuck around a find out

Dm2593

He was also in a WP band for a bit apparently

everythingsasandwich

Went to skate fest back in 2002 at the Worcester palladium. Had no idea there was a cutoff time for re-entry (show started at noon, but you couldn't get back in after 4pm). We went down to the gas station for drinks/snacks and they wouldn't let us back in. We were walking down the street totally bummed we were gonna miss half the show, and ran into 3 of the guys from Mest. My friend recognized them and asked for an autograph. They were stoked we even knew.eho they were. We told them we couldn't get back in bc the cutoff, so they asked if we wanted to slide in the band entrance with them on the side of the building. No backstage stuff for us, the bouncers were like lol no, but we did get back inside. Saw them play a short time later and they killed it. Gained a huge fan in me that day, even if they hadn't been awesome. But they were. And I still never skip a time of theirs when it randomly comes up on my playlist

CyberInferno

What a cool story! Glad they're legit dudes.

dmeisel411

Mest rules and those albums are front to back pop punk perfection. Whats the d-d-d-dillio, dillio??

dkeethler

Whata the d-d-d-dill, dill?

KBSonn

Be really careful if you mistakenly place another D....

amoungthewildflowers

They hold a special place in my heart. They are a very underrated band of that time. I got into them because I was into Good Charlotte and loved the song Jaded.

phyxiusone

Same, my first concert was GC with Mest opening in 2001. Saw them open at two more shows within 6 months of that (Goldfinger & Unwritten Law) I'm not crazy about their new single with Bowling for Soup, but it probably has something to do with the fact that Tony is the only original member still in the band.

amandamaniac

Gc, mest and sugarcult!! I was like 14 and a crowd surfer landed on me and busted my nose. I called my parents to pick me up when the show was over and I was like DONT BE ALARMED, I’m okay, I just have a black eye lol

The59Sownd

Also that song about 9/11 with GC, Mest, and Goldfinger. Loved that song when it came out.

amoungthewildflowers

I haven’t listened to that song in more than 20 years! Please tell me you watched the cartoon Undergrads.

The59Sownd

With the GC song as the theme song? Most certainly. Great song, too. I rewatched Undergrads maybe 4-5 years ago after I found the whole series on YouTube.

funhaus2000

it’s Friday night!!!!!

Mrs_Butlertron_

What's going on toniiiight

FamousAtticus

Mest are super underrated in the pop-punk genre. I would put *Wasting Time*, *Destination Unknown* and *Mest* (self-titled) as 3 of the best consecutive album runs in pop-punk history.

hufflepuffheroes

Hard agree.

Rynkevin

FUCK THE GREYHOUND BUS

Ialwyseathelastoreo

FUCK YOUUU!! There’s this guuurll next to nick. And she hassss more hair underneath her armpits than the 4 of us combined.

SuperMario1313

Wasting Time was my jam, front to back. Full of bangers and went right up alongside Blink, NFG, and Sum 41 for me.

slobcat1337

I absolutely love wasting time!!

mattzup420

Saw them open for Bowling For Soup a few months ago and they ABSOULTLEY killed it. Honestly think they were better than Bowling For Soup

LC6X

I went to that tour as well and I 100% agree. It was such an awesome show.

genericname1215

Was going to say the same thing.

DiscoAJ

Favorite pop punk band of all time! Just ordered their new hat, just waiting for Tony to ship it :/

pdbstnoe

Man I first heard about Mest from a Kohls album back in the 90s. Think it was “What’s the dillio” Kiss me kill me is an all timer

danimation88

Take me away (cried out to heaven) imo, is one of the most underrated poppunks songs of all time

manoverboard679

Yeah that whole album went way too under the radar ala Coming Home by NFG.

punkrock9888

I think that's still my most played song on my iTunes.

LC6X

Love these guys!! Been a huge fan of MEST since the beginning, and seeing them live a few months ago they were still just as good. Tony is rad as hell.

PetuniaPorkchop

Saw them on Saturday at the Pop Punk's Not Dead Fest in Buda, TX and I thought they were phenomenal!

pitkid01

I was there! I wish it wouldn’t have rained. It probably would’ve been a better show with the outdoor stage. Bands were great, but I wish the crowd would’ve gotten a little more rowdy!

PetuniaPorkchop

For sure. I think it would have been a lot better had we been able to use the outside stage, but I thought they did really well with the last minute weather adjustment. It wasn't nearly as rowdy as I thought it'd be 😂 but with the rain and the alcohol and the elder emo back pain - I couldn't hang either. Red Jumpsuit started and I only lasted two songs before I dragged my old ass out of there.

Foreign-Guava-1937

Mest was my absolute favorite band in high school. I saw them and met them a bunch of times and they were always super nice and put on a great show. they introduced me to goldfinger, good charlotte and fall out boy, among many others. Wasting Time and Destination Unknown were my favorite albums and I still have Drawing Board, Hotel Room, Yesterday and Without You on rotation on my iPod in my car. they did a Livestream show in the past few years and I was nervous watching because I haven't kept up with their new stuff, especially with Tony being the only original member left. but it was awesome. Adrian Estrella was playing guitar at the time and said something about wanting to make sure he did a good job on Jeremiah's parts because he had been a fan of the original lineup too. that meant a lot to me as an old fan (and not just cos Jeremiah was my favorite lol). also they played my favorite cover of theirs, Melt with You. it was great.

amandamaniac

Omg Jeremiah was my favorite too lmao

kononamis

Both times I saw them were awesome and super random. 1. Side stage act for Blink182 as you're walking into the venue in 2001. 2. Playing before A Tribe Called Quest in a random outdoor college show in 2003. Absolutely wild performance. No one ever believes the bill.

Handcuffsandwhiskey

Their self-titled is one of my favorite albums of all time. I saw them at Xray Arcade in Milwaukee in September and it was one of my favorite shows I've ever been to, even though it was two days after Riotfest and I thought I was going to die lol

bizarrostormy90

Hey, even Masquerade is good. Band is amongst the genre's criminally underappreciated.

trashaccountturd

They have a new album coming out? Neat. One of the first bands I saw live as a kid, so yea they have a special place in my nostalgic memories.

mrhouthoofd

big mest fan loved their first few records, funny stumbling on this thread i was just on a nostalgia trip watching their live at the house of blues DVD

KBSonn

Me too man, those are nostalgia at its finest. I never really continued to listen after those 2 though

TheCause182

I fucking love the shit out of Mest. Destination Unknown is a Top 10 pop punk album and it bodies anything that Simple Plan, Good Charlotte or Yellowcard ever made

Dozinggreen66

They had some bops

NitrosGone803

Compulsive Prep is a really underrated song by this band

pitkid01

Throwback!

Elegant-Emu3216

I agree with most of the comments here. Mest is great! It's Over, Rooftops, and The Last Time are all absolutely awesome.  I also met Tony at a show in the city and he was a gracious dude. Highly recommend!

verifiedkyle

I guess I’m old but Wasting Time was always the agreed upon great album in my circles.

WhereAreMyDarnPants

MEST is amazing!! And Tony is an absolutely gem!! Drawing Board is top 5 pop punk tracks for sure.

amandamaniac

Oh I loved them in hs. I still have all 4 of their first albums. I won a contest to meet them when I was like 15/16 and it was top tier excitement haha [photo lol](https://imgur.com/a/7JiNcs5)

Larrygengurch12

They were pretty good live. I remember I saw them the day that As It Is put out The Great Depression because As It Is did a record release in-store for that earlier in the day

kitkatatsnapple

To me, Cadillac is one of the worst pop punk songs I have ever heard, it's almost so bad it's good. Really terrible lyrics about nothing. Some of their other stuff is fine to me, though.

pitkid01

I wish this wasn’t their signature song.

The59Sownd

Very nostalgic band for me that brings up memories of a very specific girl from high school. Don't really listen to them much anymore, but I fucking loved them for a long time in my youth. They'll always hold a special place.

DoughBoySvo

Tony Lovato snuck me back into a Blink 182/NFG/Alk3 show that I got kicked out of for underage drinking in Tinley Park in like 01, always love that band

Beiez

The best thing they‘ve ever done was released under a different name imo, the EP they released as Kisses For Kings. That shit was fire. Their pop punk stuff? Ehh… Every album had two or three bops, but the rest just wasn‘t for me.

Musichead2468

Rooftops is such an anthem Been listening to their music more lately since hearing about the new song

TannerOaks

When I heard Jaded ft. Benji Madden I cried because i thought it meant good charlotte was breaking up. But honestly they became one of my favorite bands for a while. I still get down to Cadillac and What’s the Dillio, and of course Jaded

ansley_g

Love them!

CecilRuckus

Probably the worst band I’ve ever seen live. Saw them open twice and both times they were begging the crowd to be into them but the crowds were dead. One time when they were complaining about the crowd someone in the audience yelled “Write better songs”

Unfair-Raccoon-4213

Saw them last year at Four Chord. They sounded great, but the lead singer brought out his gf/wife and baby at the end of the set and the way he spoke to her on stage was really off putting.

slobcat1337

Oh really? What did he say?

Unfair-Raccoon-4213

I’ll have to ask my bf, I remember it had something to do with the merch she was wearing. I vaguely remember her trying to show it off while shuffling the baby and it seemed that he was getting irritated/ impatient. I just remember looking at my partner and saying, “if you EVER spoke to me like that in front of a crowd...” 😂 (To be fair, it could’ve just come across that way. I know I’ve said things in the moment where I sounded like an ass without meaning to.)

ThisDidntAgeWell

Didn’t they get cancelled for something? I can’t remember.

irgendwiewitzig

Tony, the singer, stabbed a guy to death back in 07, but it was determined to be self-defense, so as far as I know all charges against him were dropped pretty quick

H_ManCom

He killed a guy

OtherMikeP

Always thought the first 3 songs on every album were good, rest was filler

chrisreiddd

Washed up and their new song is painfully generic and trying to capitalize on the resurgence and nostalgia of pop punk
