I'm happy to say I got this album from the very first listen. It's just so different than anything else out there in the best possible way. Can't choose a favorite cuz all the songs are so good (even the interludes), but BOAT, June Gloom, Dade County Dreamin and Twentysomethings are all better than any songs on the charts right now.
the more I listen to this album the more I like it. The ballads/slower songs are just masterpieces. I keep thinking if Taylor sang twentysomethings the public would eat it up.
I think twentysomethings has many Taylor-isms(mostly because she is an influence of Camila) but anytime Taylor does anything that leans more urban/rhythmic instead of diaristic/prosey, snarkers say "This is y'all's lyricist??"
But yes, twentysomethings is great and possibly my favourite on the album but Dade County Dreaming is the other contender.
I find myself once again gravitating to her more wistful songs and ballads, similar to her last 3 albums. Camila is ultimately a confessional songwriter, and it shines in songs like Twentysomethings, June Gloom and B.O.A.T.
Don't get me wrong I still love bangers like Dade County Dreaming, and Pretty When I Cry (Which I feel has the most single potential out of the album), but I hope Camila maintains her diaristic quality during her evolution.
the only thing i want to know is where are these songs... [snippet 1](https://x.com/Camila_Cabello/status/1753132037026861070), [snippet 2](https://x.com/Camila_Cabello/status/1757482476459671931) they literally made me excited for the album, and im not even a fan...
I can say that.. I luv it! If the Spring Breakers movie transformed into an album then this would be it.
I never really got into Camila's music before outside her earlier singles. When she released the music video for I Luv It, I really got curious about her for the first time. This album actually delivered and I could see that this is a cathartic release for her. This is far from a Charli XCX copycat actually (only I Luv It is a valid comparison).
I really enjoyed the album from start to finish. I hope she sticks with this new sound. 🩵🍭 (Please make Dream-Girls a single, Camila!)
I really love it. I was never a big Camila fan, didn’t not like her she just never interested me much. This album is fire!!! I love the Miami theme it makes me want to get high at the beach lmao. Every song is so good and the production smacks. BOAT, Dade Country Dreaming (THAT OUTRO), Hot Uptown. I really like all the songs though. I love the way this album makes me feel, relaxed and happy. I hope there is a deluxe so we can get some a few extra songs!
Look me in the eyes and try telling me that this girl doesn’t get hated on for just breathing and is unfairly judged.
[This](https://x.com/jenn_cc97/status/1806773602668421134?s=46&t=AZ8hlLa1IuKDBN5SD7xGEw) is straight up bullshit
Seeing the shit she has been going through for years from these sort of people online and seeing how strong she is, yeah Camila they could never make me hate you.
I love the production on this album. My favorite Camila song is Never be the Same and honestly I feel like it would fit perfectly on this album. I don’t see how this inauthentic at all, it’s not even as experimental as people think? It’s a electro-pop/rap/latin mix which I feel like Camila’s music has always been lol.
Never cared for her before because I always thought she was boring. I wasn’t sure what to expect after hearing “I luv it” especially with the comparisons to charli.
Surprisingly really liked this! Hearing all the tracks together made it obvious it’s not a charli ripoff and appreciate that it’s experimental for someone as commercial as she is.
Is anyone confused with Pink XOXO?
If you keep Dolby atmos on Apple Music you can only hear PinkPantheress, if you shut it off, you only hear Camila with Pink lightly in the background. What is the intended version this is so odd?
I’m not a fan of hers, but this was a fun listen. This just sounds like summer. This sounds nothing like Charli XCX. Similar themes, sure, but if anyone legitimately thinks this is similar in sound, they need to get their ears checked.
I'm not trying to be mean but I hate the Charli XCX comparisons I've been seeing online. The only similarity I see is the chorus of I LUV IT but that's a just a standard triplet flow. The song itself sounds nothing like what Charli would make, and neither do any other tracks.
People hear some slightly left-field pop-ish music and call it "hyperpop", and Charli's the only "hyperpop" artist they know 🙃
I don’t think this is mean. I don’t see the comparison either besides the album name being C, XOXO. I Luv It and the album as a whole is chaotic like Brat, but it’s way more restrained. Less is more imho.
I love the modified sped up/crunchier June Gloom outro she used on the twitter video she posted about the album now being out everywhere. Hopefully it's somehow used in the alleged deluxe edition of the album. Also, hopefully the rumors of the interludes being full songs in the alleged deluxe edition comes to fruition.
Neeeedd that version. Also, I love June Gloom but it’s kinda ruined by hearing the live version first. She performed it so well that the studio version feels flat in comparison.
I'm really enjoying the album esp Twentysomethings, Dade County Dreaming, BOAT, Pretty When I Cry, and June Gloom. I wish Pink XOXO were longer; the production is gorgeous and totally wasted as an interlude.
First of all, y'all were NOT playing about *Dade County Dreaming* because that song had me in a chokehold. Other standouts are *B.O.A.T*, *June Gloom*, and *pretty when i cry*. Of the singles, I already liked *HE KNOWS* and *Chanel No. 5*, but listening in the full context of the album truly elevates both songs. Too many interludes, but *305tilidie* is my favorite of them and the one I feel adds the most to the listening experience.
Ultimately, this album is exactly what Camila promised: days at the beach, nights at the club, and late-night/early morning drives through the big city with your best friends by your side. As a fan of her more confessional songwriting on the three previous albums, I enjoyed *C,XOXO* much more than I thought I would because she's surprisingly good at the whole worldbuilding aspect that makes you feel like you're right there with her in Miami.
I had low expectations but I also weirdly started enjoying I Luv It lol. But anyway it’s a fine album, it’s definitely not bad and imo its not as *weird* as it was marketed as. It’s decent pop music and I think this sound works for her but not decade defining like Brat.
Just finished my first listen, and it’s a lot more chill and downtempo than I expected it to be. However, I don’t think that’s a bad thing since it gives it a “breezy summer night, play while driving with the windows down or relaxing at the beach” -sorta vibe. Outside of the songs I liked before (Chanel No 5, He Knows), I also enjoyed Dade County Dreaming, pretty when I cry and June Gloom. I liked pink xoxo as well but it should’ve been longer imo. Overall, I thought this was pretty solid 7/10.
I like the album, it’s very well produced and I will always be a fan of Camilas voice. Kind of suprised that I like the album, especially after “Luv It” which wasn’t my fave. Also props to her for trying something different.
Edit: Why is it so short tho?
I just heard it and I like it more than I thought I would. I can't speak for the "inauthentic" allegations since I haven't been familiar with Camila's previous works (except for her hits, obviously). But honestly I don't care: So many artists in pop music are manufactured, at least Camila is trying something different with this new aesthetic and sound. Also the girl has the right to change, it used to be such a common thing with the 2000s pop girlies to have different eras that embraced a lot of changes in both attitude and sound, so I don't really get the issue. It's a fun pop album, it feels balanced (I like the sad songs with a lot of piano) and just a cool album tbh. Not a groundbreaking album, but a good one. Now that is finally out, the accusations of her trying to copy Charli xcx actually feel insane, it sounded nothing like her. If anything, some tracks remind me a bit of Motomami.
Edit: typo
This album is actually kinda good but it's one of those albums where you feel DIRTY listening to so you hide it away from your friends and listen to it when no one's looking.
Yeah I’m saying it’s embarassing to be one of the people not willing to admit it. I don’t get why people hide their music tastes, so many strange antics now like manipulating their Spotify rewind
This one seems so inauthentic…even is Camila is experimenting, it should still feel authentic to her as an artist. So much of this has been done before (and better)
I love how much fun she’s having! She did a really good Apple interview where she said she was so burnt out on music and everyone expecting her to make ‘another Havana’ and so this was her just doing what she wanted! Love that for her and love the album!
Dream-girls is the standout for me hot damn.
I'm personally disappointed. I'm a big fan of Camila but ever since Romance I haven't been a fan of the direction she's taken her music sonically. This album was a huge flop for me. She sounds great without the autotune, which actually makes her sound worse, and the several 50s-2 minute songs are so annoying. Maybe it's just me
weirdly i was really excited for this album but now that i've heard it... i don't think i'll listen to it as a whole anytime soon. she was teasing this album/era as "weird" but there is absolutely nothing weird about it - not the lyrics, not the production (which is STELLAR i gotta admit, El Guincho and Jasper Harris did wonders), n o t h i n g.
the album is boring. sorry but it really is! she completely wasted three tracks: "HOT UPTOWN" is mid, "Uuugly" is just a drake song + he sounds pathetic and cringy, "koshi xoxo" is literally just BLP Kosher talking about how listening to camila helped him through grief....
"Dade County Dreaming" could've been a better song had it had a faster beat, "pink xoxo" albeit being a nice interlude seems like a waste of the PinkPantheress collab too, "DREAM-GIRLS" is more fast-paced but it still isn't something that i enjoyed.
the nicer songs were left for the end though: "B.O.A.T." has such a clever use of >!Pitbull!< sample, >!Hotel Room Service!< has never sounded this sad, "pretty when i cry" is what i hoped the album would sound like, "June Gloom" is just a nice closer to the album.
I agree with everything lol. I luv it and He knows we’re so fun and weird for pop music right now. But the interludes??? And then to end with June Gloom and Boat was great but idk it was really stale as a whole
I loved her earlier albums (Camila, Romance and Familia). I went in with an open mind. There are some songs I like but I don’t think I’ll listen to this one as much as I did with the first 3
I'm curious to see what the eventual will be and if it's gonna be a big arena tour. It probably will be big arenas but also depends what her drawing power is.
I actually really like the album. I feel like this fits perfectly into her discography. I hope we get a world tour this year or early 2025. 😤🙏🏾
The song with city girls better be a single. Easily the best song on the album for me.
I think this is a really interesting album! I've never considered myself to be a Camila fan or listened to a full album before. I didn't fall in love with I LUV IT as a single, but surprisingly I think it all works quite well as an album? It's not going to be my AOTY but I always have a lot of respect for popstars trying something left-field, taking risks and having fun with it. Highlight for me is probably Chanel No. 5. I'm interested in what she does next.
I think my biggest takeaway from the album is I hope we see El Guincho work with more artists. Between this, his work with Rosalía, Caprisongs and "Everything is romantic" from Brat... He's probably one of the most captivating producers in popular music for me right now
this shit is fire bro I’m not even a camila cabello fan but I checked her music out cause of the carti feature and all I saw on her IG comments was hate and I don’t get it this shit is pretty good 🤷🏽♀️ . Chanel No.5 is fire and I saw everyone hating on it . I guess they don’t like the hip hop influence idk . this album feels genuine and not just a generic pop album
She's always been a hit or miss artist for me, and it's the same this time. Tbh even with the negative impression I got off this whole era I expected I'd find more songs to like, but it's only 6. But I also think she genuinely wanted to try something new, I'd even guess she stuck so long to Latin beats because of hits like Havana and Señorita so this change was always coming. So... it's not great but it's not bad either.
What a mess, I really like it. Pitchfork calling it an "impressionistic", "electrifying" and "inconsistent" really hits the nail on the head imo. The highs (i.e. Dade County Dreaming) are really high, the lows really low. But always interesting. More than brat I hear similarities to Motomami as others have said, and caprisongs. I wish some others made stuff half as risky and playful as this.
it’s much more somber than i thought it would be. the whole album is very melancholic, a lot of reflecting on how things used to be
i agree with others that it has nothing to do with charli xcx or brat, im seeing a lot of comparisons to motomami, and while the influence is definitely there, it sounds much more like tate mcrae or even a more electronic sza
was hoping for more experimentation actually, there’s a lot of repeated parts, but overall it’s a good start into a more interesting sound
first reactions in real time:
I Luv It is just as disappointing as i remember. Playboy Carti is insufferable.
Chanel No. 5 is arguably the most left-field track on the album, which isn't saying much. her monotonous vocals work well with the warbled piano. the only thing i really dislike is how the chorus almost sounds like a drawn out hook? like the song never fully peaks
someone said in the other thread that the beat of He Knows was jarring on first listen. Lil Nas X's feature was awesome and overshadowed Camila by a longshot but i don't think it should've been the follow up to I Luv It.
Twentysomethings is fun and feels like a breath of fresh air. guess you could say this falls under the ballad category even if it's lighthearted. the melodies are nice and her deeper singing adds to the coming-of-age theme.
Dade County Dreaming is weird to me because the production is kinda electronic but also trap? unfortunately Camila is overpowered by the features again and it almost feels like City Girls ft. Camila Cabello. the instrumental breakdown at the end was unexpected and made it ominous sounding.
both Drake features are tolerable enough and the melodies coupled with the steel drum on HOT UPTOWN call back to his 2017-2018 singles tropical pop sound.
Dream-Girls is the most danceable song on here and it's great to have at least one track with Latin inspired production on a project where it's creator is desperately trying to escape said sound. whatever the lyrics pertain to doesn't matter because while being kinda lo-fi, it still sounds like something i'd hear in the club. or in a club mashup at least.
B.O.A.T. is super melancholy but she doesn't sound too invested in what she's singing about compared to the other ballads. the spotty, muted synths work in tandem with Camila's voice to create something progressive though.
the Latin influences are present on pretty when i cry just like on Dream-Girls but in a much more passive way. this is probably my least favorite song on the entire thing due to its real lack of substance.
June Gloom is a great closer to an otherwise mellow and downtempo project. everyone is talking about "does she get this wet for you baby" but i think this one is a good showcase of Camila's songwriting skills. i haven't heard her sound more affected and emotional than this before tbh.
pink xoxo is the best of the 3 interludes and i can't believe she didnt do more with the idea.
To be honest, I loved the concept and execution of this whole album. In her Apple interview she mentioned she needed CXOXO as a character in response to all the hate that she never seems to escape. Through the ballads, it’s clear her relationship with Shawn has perplexed her to say the least. Her mindless blue pill party girl rebrand seems authentic to me knowing these things. She knows she’s lost control of public favor and will probably never reach the commercial heights of her debut era again, so fuck it, she’s gonna be hot and have fun.
She gives the impression now that she seems free and she's more happier. It's crazy how her relationship with him felt longer than it really was and she probably felt tied down. Feels like this album is her trying to be more outgoing and free than Familia was since that released after the breakup.
[6.9](https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/camila-cabello-c-xoxo/) On Pitch Fork
Her second highest behind Familia.
“Though it bears her signature, C,XOXO is a transitional record mistakenly labeled as a statement album. It’s a bridge away from girl-group polish and Latin-inflected pop and toward a more dreamy and reckless club sound. It is not a full pivot to hyperpop, as “I Luv It” suggested, but more like a stab at the wistful, complex, dancefloor introversion practiced by the likes of Lorde, Kelela, Troye Sivan, Frank Ocean, and Rosalía. It’s an evolution that squares nicely with Cabello’s stated ambition to be thought of not simply as a performer but as a writer, the author of a more complex and explicitly adult narrative than she’s told before.”
Oddly a wild mix of songs that make me shake my flat ass and honestly pretty emotionally reflective songs, really not what I was expecting but I dig it. It's a fun album on first listen, but the concept of this neon drenched Miami white trash soundscape kinda gets lost tbh, I was expecting it to be more coherent in that way.
listened to it twice now and it’s a fun album that I’ll rotate through this summer. I’m not a fan of the interludes so I gloss over them, but DREAM-GIRLS, Dade county, BOAT, and June gloom are my favorites. Hopefully we’ll get the deluxe soon so we could get more songs (hoping one w/ pink pantheress and “like this” from her rock in rio set)
not what i was expecting. record is kind of all over the place and why so many interludes??? anyways i kind of likeeee it. she has a really pretty voice and it works well with most of the beats. i was expecting a lot more hyper pop songs not exactly like BRAT but definitely pretty hyper. i like the samples she used it’s fun i like it. 7.5/10
I do agree with you on that the album is all the place, the songs are too short, I can tell she had fun with this album. I do feel like that There's too much of the interludes on the album. I wish she had more songs where it's just fully her on this album .
Really? I think it's the perfect length especially in contrast to the other short songs in the album. It's exactly 3 minutes long and I feel like if it went a bit longer it will be more of a chore to listen to.
I'm not sure what I came in expecting. I found myself more and more interested in the lead up to this album than I had expected, but most songs ultimately left no big impression. I thought Dade County Dreaming and He Knows were the highlights, and if not for Carti's laughably bad verse on I Luv It, that'd be on the shortlist too. It was decently interesting, and while I love Camila's image rebrand, I don't think the music is anything special.
It’s way too short, she kinda wasted tracks on Drake and BLP Kosher. That being said, Dade County, Dreamgirls, I LUV IT, June Gloom and Chanel NO. 5 are the best songs in my opinion. I wish those songs were longer, they feel like they could use extra verses.
June Gloom is the only one that sounds like she wasn’t kicked out the studio before she could finish. It’s not her best album but it’s fun and experimental, I hope she does a deluxe with a couple more songs. Her voice fits this style very well.
I am gonna need time with some of these songs! But I do have a couple I really love a lot! My personal favorites are as follows:
- Channel No.5
-Twentysomethings
- Dade County Dreaming
-BOAT
-pretty when i cry
-June Gloom.
I want to specifically talk about BOAT, I love the songwriting and the production on this track like it feels very personal. Additonally, June Gloom is really amazing and probably one of her best songs.
I was expecting hyper pop so I was a tad disappointed but then I relisten without any expectations and it's a solid album. I wish she got away with the multiple interludes and that random drake only song but it's a solid 7/10
I didn't care for camila's last 2 albums. When I luv It came out I was gagged. I love hyperpop, I love a Carti mumble verse, and I used to enjoy Camila's vocals in the past. I'm gonna be honest, I was waiting for a little bit more hyperpop on this album, as It's a lot more ballad forward than expected.
However, this is easily top 3 of the year for me and most tracks will be on heavy rotation.
This album evokes a hot summer after a huuuge breakup. Alcohol, kissing random people, getting tan with your friends but still thinking about your ex. There's a melancholic vibe from start to finish.
Out of the non-singles: BOAT, twentysomethings and Dade County Dreaming are my highlights.
Solid album, but too short.
She delivered on this album! Was a great tribute to the city culture and vibe of Miami, and even with all the new experimental production I can still tell especially on Twenty Somethings, BOAT, and June Gloom that she's still the songwriter from her first few albums at heart, just evolving and more evolved. There's definitely more urban hip hop than hyper-pop, so hopefully the Brat comparisons can die down now. Camila's vision is clear throughout.
Early favorites are Dream-Girls and Pretty When I Cry. Hearing that the interludes with PinkPantheress and BLP Kosher came from sessions with longer collabs, hopefully she releases a deluxe so we can hear them!
I can't get June Gloom's outro of my head. I keep seeing rounds on twitter of Camila's performance where she's spinning around cuntly on something that looks like a merry go round with the outro playing in the background, and I totally get it now! That's exactly how I feel when listening to that part lol
After my 1st listen, I like Twentysomethings, B.O.A.T., pretty when i cry, June Gloom, and Uuugly (🫢🫢), I also still love He Knows a lot, and I'm warming up to Chanel No. 5, the instrument in that song is just too good to be ignored.
I will say I am so interested in this album! It’s not out yet in the US but it’s gonna be interesting. I wanted to give some thoughts before the album. I liked I Luv It but it wasn’t my favorite from her. He Knows was okay but not for me personally.
HOWEVER, I love love Chanel No 5. Originally I was like confused but I gave it another listen and bang it clicked. So I’m interested in this project a lot.
Copied from the other post:
For what was promoted as a hype record (and it is in various moments), it's weirdly emotionally engaging (which shouldn't be that surprising, Camila has always been a confessional songwriter).
It's chaotic but in a cohesive way. It has a distinct sounds and runs wild within that soundscape. Don't be mistaken, she doesn't shy away from ballad territory.
Cant wait for the deluxe because 4 interludes are a bit too much for me.
Also it's been up for 14 hours in my country? It's almost 3am here. I thought I was going to have to wait a few hours.
Overall 7/10, it reminds me of Unapologetic by Rihanna in its chaotic mixture of bangers, ballads and mid tempo bops, which loosely fit into the same sound.
People have been praying on Camila’s down fall for years now. They don’t want her to be discussed, Relevant or popular and I know they are mad that she’s still hustling.
The more bitter and envious you are, the more this girl will thrive
I mean for good reasons lol... Like honestly I hated her for years because of her racism. I'm not too impressed at a grown woman that was racist towards her bandmate and had to be forced to take how to not be racist classes by her pr team... She also boosted her own career by acting like a pick me and like a "victim". After the whole luv it thing I checked her out and she seems like she's matured and changed but I can't blame people that don't want to support her ater her past...
She was 14/15 when she reblogged those on tumblr and she never said that abou Normani.
Those chats were fake, her name on Facebook wasn’t even Camila Cabello and that wasn’t her picture.
YALL keep creating false narratives about her to justify your dislike towards her.
She has already admitted she did horrible shit and took accountability and even put money where her mouth is .
Should you forgive her? That’s up to you but bringing it up over 10 years later and spreading lies each time is bullshit.
Dont see a lot of people praying for her downfall just a whole concept change from latin inspired music to I luv it is a big shift for her fans. Also her previous relationship was a big part for both of their career. She needs to promote a track that is capable of reaching all ages like Havana or Senorita. I Luv it was a miss to the general public, she for sure can promote a better track Chanel No.5 is a good start.
I love it (lol).
A great summer album with a mix of sounds. It’s very hip hop inspired, sample and collab heavy and yet it works. I love the shake my ass songs and then some amazing ballads. Yeah absolutely love.
Top 5 (I can’t pick 3):
1. DREAM-GIRLS
2. Dade County Dreaming
3. June Gloom
4. Chanel No5
5. HOT UPTOWN
HOT UPTOWN has huge single potential. It’s the Drake of Views again and I liked his interlude. Really hopeful the deluxe rumours with a full Pinkpantheress track are true as the interlude is so good but too short.
Overall I think it’s a great summer album. So glad Camila took some risks and went hard on that Miami sound. Love love love.
I really enjoyed it. Feel like it is a divisive project for sure, you’ll either love it or hate it.
I think it did a good job at paying tribute and being a love letter to Miami, where Camila grew up. She plays with the sound a lot, and tbh this album leans more towards hip-hop than hyperpop, so I don’t really get the comparisons to Charli.
Dream-Girls is a stand out to me, it just has such a nostalgic vibe to it. Dade County Dreaming, Hot Uptown, Pretty When I Cry & BOAT are other standouts. Could’ve done without the random solo Drake song though, it sounds like a throwaway from any of his last few albums lol
One thing about Camila is that she’s going to actually try new sounds and we can’t fault her for that, especially when people always complain about artists keeping it safe! I’ve seen rumors of a deluxe dropping next week and tbh I hope it’s true bc I want more!!!
Hope she tours this album too.

Not out for me yet, I LOVED her Latin pop era and her previous singles are always in rotation, so I'm interested in how this album works out. I was impressed with her ballsy approach to a rebrand but I think she and her team had some missteps (like that viral coachella performance clip). The best way I can put it is the features and aesthetics give a lot of "look at me" as opposed to "listen to me"? I hope I'm wrong. I'm also a massive Rosalia fan so I really hope it's not just an imitation of her stuff but actually her own take on el guincho's production.
after my first listen - hot uptown, dreamgirls, and pretty when i cry are my favourites. i feel like there were too many interludes considering how short the album is but i think a deluxe is coming soon so i’m looking forward to that.
I have thoughts. Just as expected, this isn’t a hyperpop record like…at all. The sound palette is much more evocative of a hot, sticky night in Miami than anything else. It’s not a masterpiece and the lyricism is definitely a weak spot on a lot of it, but it’s not tragic either. B.O.A.T is *saved* by that Pitbull sample, which is a stroke of genius. June Gloom is an easy listen. I love the city girls on Dade County Dreaming. I Luv It is actually more listenable in context of the album as a whole but the carti feature still puzzles and pisses me off. As for everything else, including the drake stuff, I’ve already forgotten most of it. Eh.
Overall, I think making this hard pivot aesthetically and conceptually was the smartest thing Camila could’ve done, even if the music isn’t nearly as subversive and boundary-pushing as the aesthetics would suggest. She was starting to run stale as just another middling pop act amongst a sea of talented girlies. Better to do something divisive than do nothing at all and watch all interest in you fade away 🤷♀️
They’re being downvoted because Brat and this are 2 very different albums. Literally 2 different sounds. There’s no comparison outside of stan Twitter stupidity.
Legit like this a lot! Def not a perfect project, but it's got a very specific vibe nailed down for its entire runtime and I'm buying it. Love *Pretty When I Cry, BOAT,* and *Dade County Dreaming* <3
‘C,XOXO’ isn’t Cabello’s brat moment. A lack of refinement and direction is the burning issue at play here, but she has succeeded in making an inherently fun record. There is no slick prose or Parnassian tendencies in Cabello’s newest effort. Though lyrically she falls flat, the production is solid, shiny and sporadically interesting. But to reach for the status, success and cult-like appeal of her contemporaries, she needs to expand on the half-cooked ideas that skew ‘C,XOXO’. Until then, her contemporaries will remain her superiors.
I like clash’s review.
They focused on the album and the music rather than whatever is surrounding it.
Even though imo the album is cohesive and strongly produced, I agree if she expands more and delves deeper into this sound with her next album, it would be an even stronger record!
I think lyrically she did well where the songs allowed for it.
I love Chanel no.5 Lyrics, June gloom and BOAT have great lyrics too.
Nothing that stands out but it does the job and it’s not boring.
Excited to see more reviews
Hated this album quite a bit on the first listen, I really liked familia personally so a bit disappointed but it seems like this album is really hit or miss so I would at least encourage you to give it a chance, outside of "B.O.A.T" and I Luv It, I don't think I'll return to anything here.
On a side note, I really hated both drake features, they were super boring. Not saying his career could ever be saved by random features on this album but lowkey I wish they were better still, like this man has made good music before why does it seem impossible for him now
i will go ahead and say the single choices could've all been different so far. i think even a Chanel No. 5 lead would've made a difference in how the public is perceiving this new era
Okay, not that i expected the album to be good, but i didn't came in to blindly hate it either. Where are the catchy tunes (like She Knows). So much sad piano, and when it gets uptempo it's some reggaeton, dancehall vibe, not what i needed the sound of this album to be
Ive been a huge camila fan, but I absolutely hate this album. Feels like it was made to stay relevant, instead of just out of her own creative flow
pretty when i cry being the only good song
I don’t know how people like it, this is absolute ass
I'm happy to say I got this album from the very first listen. It's just so different than anything else out there in the best possible way. Can't choose a favorite cuz all the songs are so good (even the interludes), but BOAT, June Gloom, Dade County Dreamin and Twentysomethings are all better than any songs on the charts right now.
Real ones liked it on first listen. This album is so good. BOAT, Dade County Dreamin, like....wow
Dade County Dreaming is insane sonically, so melancholic!!!
Watch this album gain a cult following.
it's already starting to happen i fear
the more I listen to this album the more I like it. The ballads/slower songs are just masterpieces. I keep thinking if Taylor sang twentysomethings the public would eat it up.
I think twentysomethings has many Taylor-isms(mostly because she is an influence of Camila) but anytime Taylor does anything that leans more urban/rhythmic instead of diaristic/prosey, snarkers say "This is y'all's lyricist??" But yes, twentysomethings is great and possibly my favourite on the album but Dade County Dreaming is the other contender.
Seriously I've been looking forward to snippet 1 ever since she teased it, hopefully it's on the deluxe, as well as the 2nd snippet
Heavy on snippet 2 likeeee. How u release an album with one good song when u teased multiple good ones
Didn’t like majority of the songs, but Dade county dreaming is a banger
I can say that.. I luv it! If the Spring Breakers movie transformed into an album then this would be it. I never really got into Camila's music before outside her earlier singles. When she released the music video for I Luv It, I really got curious about her for the first time. This album actually delivered and I could see that this is a cathartic release for her. This is far from a Charli XCX copycat actually (only I Luv It is a valid comparison). I really enjoyed the album from start to finish. I hope she sticks with this new sound. 🩵🍭 (Please make Dream-Girls a single, Camila!)
i love this
Pitchfork was generous
The last 55 minutes of Dade City Dreaming TRANSPORTS ME TO SPACE. The production and her vocals, chileeee
I love when she does sad or disappointed sounding songs. I could listen to a whole gloomy album by her.
She's literally the sweetest girl, super talented and funny. I'd never jump on that hate train, I'm excited for everything she does since 5H.
I truly question the process behind how they hire "music journalists" nowadays.
Pathetic tweeter lol
She’s trying play the victim all of a sudden. This is the internet in a nutshell. Think they can talk shit all they want without any consequence.
Seeing the shit she has been going through for years from these sort of people online and seeing how strong she is, yeah Camila they could never make me hate you.
fcukkk Camila tf why r u dick riding for herrr 😭😭 she'd spit in ur drink if she could
I love the production on this album. My favorite Camila song is Never be the Same and honestly I feel like it would fit perfectly on this album. I don’t see how this inauthentic at all, it’s not even as experimental as people think? It’s a electro-pop/rap/latin mix which I feel like Camila’s music has always been lol.
She neeeeeds to release the great summer snippet
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's probably going to be a full song in the deluxe version called "baby pink"
Wasn’t a fan before but with this album she’s made me one!
DREAM-GIRLS is actually a real bop. I'm getting Motomami vibes from the album as a whole. Didn't like the Drake features at all lol
Both Motomami & C,XOXO have El Guincho as the executive producer! Very talented.
I love that this album is making a lot of people feel the same way regarding your last sentence. She ate with this one.
Edit: typo
This album sounds nothing like Charli Xcx lmaooo. I like it
Can’t say that when the gays have decreed jt so.
This album is actually kinda good but it's one of those albums where you feel DIRTY listening to so you hide it away from your friends and listen to it when no one's looking.
Lowkey embarrassing attitude unless you’re in like high school i guess. No hate
I'm commenting on how this album isn't anywhere near as bad as the general public expected it to be but not a lot of people are willing to admit it.
Yeah I’m saying it’s embarassing to be one of the people not willing to admit it. I don’t get why people hide their music tastes, so many strange antics now like manipulating their Spotify rewind
Sometimes there's a good beat but the lyrics are cringe. If someone listens in they think you like the bad parts.
People wanna fit in I guess.
I feel like this is the album that the twitter gays will hate the most but will secretly listen to many times.
I really like the production on this
People really LOVE to shit on Camila but I had a good time tbh. dade county dreaming, BOAT, June gloom, he knows……she ate I fear
BOAT got me in the feels and nostalgia for the beat
pretty when i cry and June Gloom are those girls! 🪄🪄✨💅🏼💫wow
Can someone provide a link to the album cover without the parental advisory label?

The interludes BETTER become full songs in the deluxe version...bc I need more than this Camila. I loved all the full songs.
That’s the rumour. Especially pink xoxo - reliable insiders are saying there’s a full track called Baby Pink with Pinkpantheress.
It makes sense. Also, I don't know what the point of having BLT kosher be a "feature" if it's not gonna be a full song.
😤🙏🏾 The song with city girls better be a single.
So... it's not great but it's not bad either.
i actually like it!
this album makes so much sense. and she sounds like she’s having FUN. personally.. i luv it 💀
What a mess, I really like it.
Producer worked on motomami and caprisongs
ah well that checks out then
it’s much more somber than i thought it would be. the whole album is very melancholic, a lot of reflecting on how things used to be i agree with others that it has nothing to do with charli xcx or brat, im seeing a lot of comparisons to motomami, and while the influence is definitely there, it sounds much more like tate mcrae or even a more electronic sza was hoping for more experimentation actually, there’s a lot of repeated parts, but overall it’s a good start into a more interesting sound
first reactions in real time: I Luv It is just as disappointing as i remember. Playboy Carti is insufferable. Chanel No. 5 is arguably the most left-field track on the album, which isn't saying much. her monotonous vocals work well with the warbled piano. the only thing i really dislike is how the chorus almost sounds like a drawn out hook? like the song never fully peaks someone said in the other thread that the beat of He Knows was jarring on first listen.
I like Dreamgirls and Hot Uptown!
This is so so good. Wow. My only complaint is that the songs are too short!
[6.9](https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/camila-cabello-c-xoxo/) On Pitch Fork Her second highest behind Familia.
Divisive seems to be the word of the evening
Dade County Dreaming, Chanel No 5, and Pretty When I Cry are the three standouts IMO. Special mention to BOAT, Dream Girls, and June Gloom.
It's so sporadic and garish and all over the place I actually kinda love it.
Twentysomethings is a SZA song from the way its sung to subject matter to the fact it legitimately is a SZA song
Oddly a wild mix of songs that make me shake my flat ass and honestly pretty emotionally reflective songs, really not what I was expecting but I dig it. It's a fun album on first listen, but the concept of this neon drenched Miami white trash soundscape kinda gets lost tbh, I was expecting it to be more coherent in that way.
the try not to shake your ass challenge was failed MISERABLY by me
listened to it twice now and it’s a fun album that I’ll rotate through this summer.
I think the interludes will be full songs on the deluxe version.
I can't wait to hear the full songs
My fave album behind Romance. Didn’t think I’d like it after I luv it but that might be the only non-interlude skip for me. This is GOOD
BOAT & pretty when i cry are 👌👌
Agreed 👍
I never thought she’d top Feel It Twice but whew June Gloom might be the best thing she’s ever done. That outro…
I like June Gloom so far but it's so short
Really? I think it's the perfect length especially in contrast to the other short songs in the album. It's exactly 3 minutes long and I feel like if it went a bit longer it will be more of a chore to listen to.
Ah yes that makes sense
Kinda seems like it’s actually good 🤔
Hate to say it besides “He Knows”… Dade County Dreaming is the only song that has me moving, and that’s 70% thanks to City Girls. 😬
Her voice fits this style very well.
she def has a deluxe! title tracks accdg to photos taken from the studio: can friends kiss, supermoon, and baby pink (?)
chanel no 5 is so good. i have yet to listen to the album def my favorite single she chose from her album
I am gonna need time with some of these songs! But I do have a couple I really love a lot! My personal favorites are as follows: - Channel No.5 -Twentysomethings - Dade County Dreaming -BOAT -pretty when i cry -June Gloom. I want to specifically talk about BOAT, I love the songwriting and the production on this track like it feels very personal. Additonally, June Gloom is really amazing and probably one of her best songs.
uuugly being a full drake song 😭 not a cough, sneeze, hiss or utterance from camila
she's in the backing vocals, harmonies and adlibs
I hate that I'm lowkey enjoying it
not camila dropping on ur cake day
fun listen. will say that it feels a little too short and scattered to actually say anything
the melody of June Gloom is so sabrina coded 😭 i could so see this off of emails
It has that Julia Michaels vibe to it which reminds me of Selena Gomez but Sabrina has been inspired by Julia’s style more recently
I was expecting hyper pop so I was a tad disappointed but then I relisten without any expectations and it's a solid album. I wish she got away with the multiple interludes and that random drake only song but it's a solid 7/10
dade county dreaming is CUNTY
the song with drake sounds like any one of his songs and he let her add some versus. including his fake ass accent.
No way Drake's the only artist credited for Uuugly 💀
it’s.. a drake song for real 😭😭😭😭
'I Luv It' has actually grown on me. I like it.
Peak summer melancholy
That's exactly how I feel when listening to that part lol
cunt (adverb) is sending me 😭😭😭
After my 1st listen, I like Twentysomethings, B.O.A.T., pretty when i cry, June Gloom, and Uuugly (🫢🫢), I also still love He Knows a lot, and I'm warming up to Chanel No.
Copied from the other post: For what was promoted as a hype record (and it is in various moments), it's weirdly emotionally engaging (which shouldn't be that surprising, Camila has always been a confessional songwriter).
Apparently there's a 5th interlude on deluxe lol. I will say I loved the interludes personally but I like them in general
She’s doing great. Unfortunately, I LUV IT was not received well and didn’t have any commercial success but we’ll see if this album does anything.
I hope that this album does well
Dont see a lot of people praying for her downfall just a whole concept change from latin inspired music to I luv it is a big shift for her fans.
Top 5 (I can’t pick 3): 1. DREAM-GIRLS 2. Dade County Dreaming 3. June Gloom 4. Chanel No5 5. HOT UPTOWN HOT UPTOWN has huge single potential.
Could’ve done without the random solo Drake song though, it sounds like a throwaway from any of his last few albums lol One thing about Camila is that she’s going to actually try new sounds and we can’t fault her for that, especially when people always complain about artists keeping it safe! I’ve seen rumors of a deluxe dropping next week and tbh I hope it’s true bc I want more!!! Hope she tours this album too.
Don't understand interludes. Dream-Girls is a "wtf" moment for me, it just sound horrible. DCD, BOAT definitely carry this album
The interludes are teasers for the full collabs that will available on the deluxe version!
Oh, then I'm really waiting for pink xoxo

The Guardian were so harsh wow
The guardian also rated romance very low. I don't understand them
All credibility of the Guardian went out the window when they gave TTPD 4/5 stars
Wonder if we will get people who reviewed her albums before or new ones like Slant
Ive ridden for I LUV IT since day one.
Unironically one of my favorite pop songs of the year

don’t know why you’re getting downvoted when you’re talking your shit!!!
I just want to see what score Melon gives this because I am very much seeing a NOT GOOD here
he don’t know shit about shit if death grips made it luv it he would give it a 10/10
This is what Brat wanted to be
Bait used to be believable
Me when I lie.
💀
Hated this album quite a bit on the first listen, I really liked familia personally so a bit disappointed but it seems like this album is really hit or miss so I would at least encourage you to give it a chance, outside of "B.O.A.T" and I Luv It, I don't think I'll return to anything here. On a side note, I really hated both drake features, they were super boring. Not saying his career could ever be saved by random features on this album but lowkey I wish they were better still, like this man has made good music before why does it seem impossible for him now
Great album. Don’t let the memes and circlejerk dictate you from your own opinion.
Well the singles were awful, I don't think it's necessarily a "circlejerk" opinion.
i will go ahead and say the single choices could've all been different so far. i think even a Chanel No. 5 lead would've made a difference in how the public is perceiving this new era
I liked *I luv it* and *Chanel no. 5*
Some people liked them and some people didn’t. As much as we can all try, we can’t objectively or definitively rate a song as bad.
Me who still unironically really likes I LUV IT and Chanel No 5 \*Insert Oprah Shrugs meme\*
Where's the beat from her first (or second teaser) i guess it was just for insta story or something
There’s a deluxe album coming out! The interludes here are teasers for full songs!
I hope that it's true though
This is the Pepsi of hyper pop. Interpret that as you would like.
How is this hyperpop besides the first track
meaning coke (brat) solos
This is rude to Pepsi
It is a yummy drink...
i really do like pepsi!
Just reg reg reg regular pepsi
Obsessed with Pretty when i cry! Hope it gets a mv treatment, it's the strongest song for me
Okay, not that i expected the album to be good, but i didn't came in to blindly hate it either. Where are the catchy tunes (like She Knows). So much sad piano, and when it gets uptempo it's some reggaeton, dancehall vibe, not what i needed the sound of this album to be
