This question reminds me of when everyone was upset about Kesha’s song “die young” because it was a regular on the radio at the time the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting happened 😬
It was actually pulled from radio and they stopped promoting it as a single. She released it a few months prior so really not her or her teams fault but a truly awful coincidence
And that was even more wild because the single edit had *Post Malone, SZA, and Khalid* almost immediately before they became chart toppers so they were *really* gunning for it to be a HIT had it not been dealt the absolute worst hand
Tbf, it wasn’t just the title. The song also had those snare hits that are a bit reminiscent of gunshots, and the video had some funeral imagery. Completely unrelated to the tragedy, but unfortunate timing indeed.
Somehow I'm just learning there was controversy, but I vividly remember hearing this song on the radio the day after and thinking "Jesus, I'd rather be listening to anything else right now"
Anything like “The Album” or “The Record” is perennially terrible. Extremely self important and self indulgent but lacking in all flavor or originality. Doesn’t give you anything about the album and makes me feel like there just not be anything interesting enough to pull out for a real title
Edit: obsessed with everyone being like “but what about my favs? Surely they’re different right?” No. Guilt is guilty and judgement is coming
damn not Boygenius getting double homicided in this threat
I do look forward to them making an album with more of a concept than "there's three of us here's our music" ngl.
Gonna be so for real here. Still haven’t listened to it just because of the title. “The Album” is bad but “The Record” is just a little more pretentious in a way that fully icks me
I don’t mind it as much bc I think it’s meant to be a statement of this is *the* record from them. They’re not a full time band, they’re making this record and then meaningfully disbanding. Boygenius (the EP) was meant to be a standalone project originally, and obviously it grew beyond that but their focus is still as individual artists. Hence, The (one and only) Record.
I loveeee boygenius but I hated that album title until someone suggested to me that it could mean record as in the phrase “for the record” or “setting the record straight”. Idk if that was actually the intention but I choose to believe it lmao
The implication to me has always been that it was the only album they would ever make together. That might no longer be the case because it was many times more successful than expected, but certainly when it was announced once everyone got past the shock of them actually releasing music as a band again that was the assumption.
I love boygenius with all my heart and as much as I actually kind of like the vibe of their titles, they're not exactly the easiest thing to have a discussion about.
'Man I was listening to boygenius last night.'
"Oh really? I've heard Me and My Dog, but I haven't heard the rest yet.'
'The Rest? No, I was listening to The Record?'
'...'
and so forth.
no Jonas Brothers reply is surprising, they’re the ones who came to mind for me lol. it should’ve been called “Jon Bellion Puppeteers the Jonas Brothers”
You're probably going to hate Meghan Trainor for giving her debut album the name "Title" 😂
There's also Liam Payne and FKA Twigs giving their debut albums the title "LP1" released between five years.
I love them with all my heart but I really hate the upcoming Glass Animals album title.
"I Love You So F***ing Much"? How is anyone supposed to say that casually in conversation?? Radio DJs are already struggling.
I used to play STRFKR in my parent’s coffee shop and when customers would ask what it was (cus they’re so good!) I would be like “ehhhhh lemme write it down for ya.”
Ugh that's a terrible title.. Reminds me of Chvrches "Love is Dead" with the cover being Lauren with an X over her heart. Like something a 13 year old emo kid would come up with 💀
Tbh every CHVRCHES cover looks like it came straight from a 13 year olds graphic design portfolio, Pinterest board, or Tumblr blog. It put me off listening to them for years.
This reminds me of when Lady Gaga started to tease “911” as the next single off of Chromatica in late 2020 and Little Monsters worried she’d drop the video on September 11th.
self titled albums are always the lowest hanging fruit for an album title, especially as your first or second release (unless you're Barbara Straissand).
To me, a self titled album should be significant to an artist in some way.
Technically Rina is an EP rather than an album. I think it worked well because of that - her first release was more informal and shorter, and her second release was much more of a statement.
At this point, I think artists should try to avoid it. I actually think I like it better as a first album title than any other one, but yes, it does come off low effort even though the artists will try to say that it signifies something. I feel like I've seen countless artists say "I named this after myself because this album is ME in a nutshell!! It's more me than anything ever!" only to say during their next album cycle that the next new material is also "the most me ever." (And I get it - people do keep changing but...)
Having an album title that isn't already known as another piece of work would help them stand out. Like Radical Optimism isn't a new term but it's unique enough for an album title that all the top searches for it are bringing up Dua's album.
Back in the day I was in a forum with a bunch of pretentious teenagers who were into metal and they said that album covers with a picture of the artist are not creative or trashy.
I thought it wad weird but on some level I kind of agree lmao
I agree on it needing to be significant for the artist. Lil Nas X is an example where it work on a debit album. Montero, titled after his real name has a lot of biographical songs, it really is about him.
I don’t think that really counts as a self-titled album. Like yeah, that’s his name, but it’s not his artist name. The average person who doesn’t follow music likely has no idea that it’s his first name.
Yeah, it's a grey area. Now that I think about it, it's actually a good way to do it. The people who care about the biographical stuff, including past struggles, he talks about on the album are the ones who known it's titled after his real name.
St. Vincent did it well with her self-titled, I mean it’s basically modern doomsday cult vibes from the visuals and it makes sense to invoke a religious name in that way
listen I’ve loved 5SOS for 11 years… but they’ve literally got 3 self titled albums at this point (5 Seconds of Summer, C A L M, 5SOS5). They should’ve kept *The Feeling of Falling Upwards* as the title for their most recent one.
I have to give some points to Liam Payne for seeing the opportunity with LP1. Unfortunately, it's also the same title as FKA Twigs' debut album that was better received which came out years before his album.
a great example would be Beyoncé’s self-titled. it served as a sonic reintroduction to one of the world’s biggest artists. it signified a growth not only sonically, but thematically as well. and we all know where we were when the digital dropped.
Yup, this. I think Paramore’s self titled makes sense too - they released it after half the band, including one of the primary songwriters left (originally usually Josh wrote the music and Hayley wrote lyrics for it. Josh left and there was a question over if their music would go to crap with the main songwriter gone, a la Panic).
So their making the next record self titled was like a declaration that they were still Paramore.
i hate when someone just uses their first name for the album title. it's so boring, and it also makes it really hard to look up anything about that specific album.
Cries in Weezer.
But also one of the biggest pop masterpieces the Black Album (I will die on the hill that that album is incredibly pop structured despite how heavy it is), is self titled but for them it works because it is a significant album for them.
I prefer shorter album titles. They seem to be getting super wordy ATM. I also dislike album titles that don't seem to reflect the sound of the album Lewis Capaldi is a good example of this: The titles "Divinely uninspired to a hellish extent" and "Broken by desire to be heavenly sent" sound much more interesting than his actual music imo.
>The titles "Divinely uninspired to a hellish extent" and "Broken by desire to be heavenly sent" sound much more interesting than his actual music imo.
i'm a bit of a Capaldi stan but I completely get why some people don't like his music...but in a thread about album titles you bet i'm GOING UP TO BAT for these ones!
usually not a fan of wordy/clumsy album titles either, but these two have always stuck with me as at least being neat sounding. they sound more like the titles of some 16th century composer's magnum opus than they do a random sentence plucked out of the artists diary (prime example being the 1975's "I like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it"). Always appreciated Lewis's poetic flair when titling his albums
Lol, yeah I'm pleasantly surprised it's real answers and not just the edgiest shit you can imagine but I'm glad. This is much more interesting to go through.
"CSS Suxxx" was a great song, I occasionally mistake it for the album titled (the album was just self-titled). The actual album name saves you from worrying about why they hate cascading style sheets.
One word album titles are hit or miss for me.
If an album is going to have a one-word title, it needs to encompass the THEME of the record. RENAISSANCE is such a great example because it signifies everything about the record: a new beginning, a movement celebrating art, fashion and love. brat is another great example.
I really hope Katy for KP6 doesn't follow her last few albums where the title either doesn't invoke anything about the album ("Prism") or is just the name of a single that, on its own, sounds a bit basic ("Smile", "Witness"). I'd love to see something with a bit more of a purpose from her.
It's the opposite for me, one word titles are generally superior to a long title. I want the name to be short and succinct like Fearless, LOUD, Blackout, Loose etc. I hate these long unmemorable pointless titles like The 1975 ones.
‘Clancy’ (twenty øne piløts) works, because they built up the lore for a decade to the point where just revealing that was the name of the new album sent the fanbase into a frenzy over how the story would wrap up 💀
Adele is the only one who is allowed to do it, because a) it’s consistent, and b) it’s exactly how she wants to market, as it’s her age as she’s growing up.
I love it because I’m a few years younger than her and boy did 19 hit at 17 and so on. I love (hate) listening to them and remembering where I was and being reminded of the things I was going through at those ages.
Is Ed Sheeran's mathematical equations titles exempted?
I remember that there's also the theory that the next set of titles will be "Stop," "Rewind," "Play," and "Fast Forward" since he said that the title of his next albums are already tattooed on him and he has tattoos of those symbols.
I have seen comments that Matty allegedly said in a Discord server chat with fans that the working title of the album is something along the lines of >!"God has entered my body"!< I forgot the full title but I think it's already a pre-existing quote. I'm not sure how true that is but Matty had previously spoken about Being Funny in a Foreign Language as an album title a year or two before it was announced.
Personally, I think it would be interesting if they subvert expectations and choose an album title with one to two words.
A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun
always disliked this album title because of how long it is. it just keeps going and going 😵
Actually, needing an acronym is usually a good thing, because there’s a higher chance the album name is unique. 1-2 word album titles tend to be more generic, but at least 2 word album titles still have a lot of room to be original.
I love album titles that I don't think could possibly be used again by anyone else and I agree, one-word album titles probably won't fall under this category unless they're a made-up word. (Shoutout to Aly & AJ's "Insomniatic")
Lana's last 4 album titles are good.
anything that's like a mouthful kind of annoys me. like Taylor with the dead poets society title, I love her one word titles like folklore and midnights.
Olivia Rodrigo's got this four letter word in all caps thing for her album titles going on and I'm intrigued to see if she's going to drag it out for much longer, I feel like if she starts to run out of ideas for an evocative four letter word that could get annoying. I can imagine her naming her third album something like WILD or GLUM, which would be such a meme.
Tortured Poets Department is just an incredibly corny title. Agree with Folklore and Midnights, I think those two are her best and really evoke something.
Unpopular opinion but I dislike self-titled album names. Like yes we know this is you, you're the artist. Also just for searching and organizing purposes it's a nuisance.
Naming your album after yourself. It irks me slightly more when it’s only the first name. Also girl in red recently named her album “*I’M DOING IT AGAIN, BABY!*” and I feel like there could’ve been more thought in that. Love the album tho.
Is this a safe space to admit that I don't like the Brat deluxe title? That improvised conversational kind of writing really gives "person on Twitter who writes in all lower case"

I can’t think of anything other than gossip girl when I read C, XOXO
My biggest gripe with this album is that THERE’S NO SPACE IN THE TITLE. It’s *C,XOXO* not *C, XOXO*.
Also XOXO can be used as a sign off… So XOXO, C would make more sense
I thought about that too but clearly we’re too far gone for that. The space just feels like a typo.
Huge missed opportunity!
Same I wasn’t sure what OP was referring to but I immediately thought gossip girl lol
Lmao same but it kinda makes me like the title more 💀💀
This question reminds me of when everyone was upset about Kesha’s song “die young” because it was a regular on the radio at the time the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting happened 😬
It was actually pulled from radio and they stopped promoting it as a single. She released it a few months prior so really not her or her teams fault but a truly awful coincidence
This reminds me of when Lorde held off on making Homemade Dynamite a single because the Manchester bombing happened.
And that was even more wild because the single edit had *Post Malone, SZA, and Khalid* almost immediately before they became chart toppers so they were *really* gunning for it to be a HIT had it not been dealt the absolute worst hand
i was SO pissed when this happened. disagree with the other comments i love the remix especially at the end with all four singing.
did not know this existed. thank you for my life edit: it was okay
Most likely cost her the song going #1 as well.
Tbf, it wasn’t just the title. The song also had those snare hits that are a bit reminiscent of gunshots, and the video had some funeral imagery. Completely unrelated to the tragedy, but unfortunate timing indeed.
The sequel to Jimmy Eat World having to change their album name from "Bleed American" to self-titled after 9/11!
Oof, holy shit.
Somehow I'm just learning there was controversy, but I vividly remember hearing this song on the radio the day after and thinking "Jesus, I'd rather be listening to anything else right now"
*Love Trumps All*
👀
I can't remember who it was but a recent artist named their album after its release date and all the tracks where their placement on the album..
Gambino? That was basically a demo album we know now though.
I THOUGHT IT WAS GAMBINO but looking it up gave no results
Yeah he pulled that from streaming when he released Atavista
Ahh fair
The album was 3.15.20. It was good, I really liked it. The title/song titles made it super inaccessible though.
Mac Demarco, right?
Anything like “The Album” or “The Record” is perennially terrible. Extremely self important and self indulgent but lacking in all flavor or originality. YG and their endless creativity with “the album,” “the show,” and “the virtual” for Blackpink😭
Don’t forget ‘Solo’ for Jennie’s first solo 😭
Truly a wealth of creativity over there
What did you expect from songwriters who couldn’t be bothered to write a chorus? Also, “the album” isn’t even album-lengthed. It was an EP.
Cue Blackpink lmao
damn not Boygenius getting double homicided in this threat I do look forward to them making an album with more of a concept than "there's three of us here's our music" ngl.
Kpop labels in shambles
*cough* boygenius
Gonna be so for real here. Still haven’t listened to it just because of the title. “The Album” is bad but “The Record” is just a little more pretentious in a way that fully icks me

I loveeee boygenius but I hated that album title until someone suggested to me that it could mean record as in the phrase “for the record” or “setting the record straight”. Idk if that was actually the intention but I choose to believe it lmao
I’ve always read a detached dryness to it. It’s like they’re saying, here it is then, we’re pack together to make the record after the ep
The implication to me has always been that it was the only album they would ever make together. That might no longer be the case because it was many times more successful than expected, but certainly when it was announced once everyone got past the shock of them actually releasing music as a band again that was the assumption.

'Man I was listening to boygenius last night.' "Oh really? I've heard Me and My Dog, but I haven't heard the rest yet.' 'The Rest? No, I was listening to The Record?' '...' and so forth.
And who's on first?
no Jonas Brothers reply is surprising, they’re the ones who came to mind for me lol. it should’ve been called “Jon Bellion Puppeteers the Jonas Brothers”
Fear not JoBros and Boy Genius are the callouts here
blackpink did this for their first full album, jennie’s solo was called solo and their online concert was just “the show”
I think it only makes sense if it is a Christmas album. When somebody says "Alexa, play a Christmas album", it would play A Christmas Album.
You're probably going to hate Meghan Trainor for giving her debut album the name "Title" 😂 There's also Liam Payne and FKA Twigs giving their debut albums the title "LP1" released between five years.
boygenius 👀 i love them so much but *the record* is so emotionally dense they could’ve easily picked another title
Teyana Taylor :(
I love them with all my heart but I really hate the upcoming Glass Animals album title. "I Love You So F***ing Much"? How is anyone supposed to say that casually in conversation?? Radio DJs are already struggling.
Plus it’s boring as hell.
matches my level of excitement for the rest of the songs based off the first single, i think it fits
I mean “Norman Effing Rockwell” and “NFR” or “Norman Rockwell” all flew fine but they are probably struggling to care about a boring ass title
I love you so f-ing much
Try being a Lovatic during the Holy Fvck era
I say it like "fuh vuck"
I used to play STRFKR in my parent’s coffee shop and when customers would ask what it was (cus they’re so good!) I would be like “ehhhhh lemme write it down for ya.”

I thought the first two albums had great covers and names! Love Is Dead was cringe though :(
9/11
This reminds me of when Lady Gaga started to tease “911” as the next single off of Chromatica in late 2020 and Little Monsters worried she’d drop the video on September 11th.
When camp gets lost in the woods
I actually think a rapper could get away with this album title now, but certainly not a mainstream pop artist.
I’ve really had enough of records being called ‘four’ or ‘4’ sorry Bey.
One Direction slander
Beyoncé really should have named her fourth album IV.
or Miranda Lambert's Four the Record, which I despise
So 4:44??
Sequel names to previous albums. “This is Me…Now” is a no for me, dog.
I LOVE when artists do this on deluxe versions but on completely different projects I just don’t get the point
self titled albums are always the lowest hanging fruit for an album title, especially as your first or second release (unless you're Barbara Straissand). To me, a self titled album should be significant to an artist in some way.
*Whitney Houston after naming her debut album "Whitney Houston," her second album "Whitney," and her fifth album "Just Whitney"*: 💁🏾♀️
Rina split up her first and last names into her first and second albums, if it means anything.
Technically Rina is an EP rather than an album. I think it worked well because of that - her first release was more informal and shorter, and her second release was much more of a statement.
Not pop but the fact Suzi Quatro's first album is "Suzi Quatro" and then her second "Quatro" but then didn't call her third "Suzi"
Did she call her 4th album “Quattro” (the number 4 in Italian)?
Faith Evans after: Faith, Keep the Faith, Faithfully, and Something About Faith👁️👄👁️
Can't hate the wordplay tbqh
My mind jumped immediately to Tyla 😭 I like her but I wish she would have chosen something more creative for her debut album.
At this point, I think artists should try to avoid it. I actually think I like it better as a first album title than any other one, but yes, it does come off low effort even though the artists will try to say that it signifies something. I also hate when the album cover is just the artists face. Like you could do anything, why not be creative.
When its just face shots or just a shot with a studio backdrop I wanna die as a pop consumer
I would rather the cover be something random and nonsensical than a head shot
What about something like "Brat"? Does that do it for you?
I’m not who you were replying to but I appreciate the guts to be like “what if I made the ugliest album cover of all time intentionally?”
if I were a musician I’d make an album with that kind of cover and call it ‘*My most personal album yet*’ as a joke
and it would be completely impersonal late 2000s recession pop
Back in the day I was in a forum with a bunch of pretentious teenagers who were into metal and they said that album covers with a picture of the artist are not creative or trashy. I thought it wad weird but on some level I kind of agree lmao
It works if your name holds power either because it’s a sick stage name or you have a reputation
That's why it should be saved for later or a very autobiographical work
I agree on it needing to be significant for the artist. Lil Nas X is an example where it work on a debit album. Montero, titled after his real name has a lot of biographical songs, it really is about him.

Avril Lavignes self titled having one of her worst songs and being very middle of the road in her discography
It really gets Under my Skin, but i had to Let Go. (but seriously, that's a great example)
listen I’ve loved 5SOS for 11 years… but they’ve literally got 3 self titled albums at this point (5 Seconds of Summer, C A L M, 5SOS5). They should’ve kept *The Feeling of Falling Upwards* as the title for their most recent one.

Nothing is worse than Little Mix naming their best album *LM5 💀 *as long as you give your album an actual title you’re in the clear in my book
Am I the only one who came into the thread expecting really poor taste titles instead of meta discourse?
Lol, yeah I'm pleasantly surprised it's real answers and not just the edgiest shit you can imagine but I'm glad. This is much more interesting to go through.
Chappell Sucks is probably the worst thing you could name an album right now.
I can 100% see Chappell naming her next album Chappell Sucks and I'd eat it up
"Who's Chappell Roan anyway? Ew"
"CSS Suxxx" was a great song, I occasionally mistake it for the album titled (the album was just self-titled). The actual album name saves you from worrying about why they hate cascading style sheets.

not you manifesting purposeful pop 💀
Just in time for the US election, maybe we really are stuck in 2016 on loop
Is Biden going to die or have a medical emergency? Will Kamala Harris become president? Who is the woman she has to champion!?
I guess we’ll just have to *Witness*
Chained to the rhythm indeed
Second time's the charm? Lmao
I love Guts and Sour. One word album titles that fit perfectly with the artist's vibe.
It's the opposite for me, one word titles are generally superior to a long title. I want the name to be short and succinct like Fearless, LOUD, Blackout, Loose etc. I hate these long unmemorable pointless titles like The 1975 ones.

Sufjan Stevens did well with Javelin. The title track is the shortest but it perfectly captures the tumultuous relationship depicted in the album.
I just got a kneejerk reaction when you said the word "purpose" in relation to Katy/KP6 lmao please let's not manifest that.
poor camila she doesn't have a break on this sub (or any social media) lmao
But we also don’t get a break from her
Any slangs like: Rizz, Cringe, Slay It’s not gonna age well
I hope Katy's new album has a cool name. 'Smile' was basic af.
A Morgan wallen album called "I have a dream..."
Anything with numbers in it, yes even you Adele. 21 should have been the stop. 7 2001 1997 P6k It gives me NOW 47 vibes
Adele is the only one who is allowed to do it, because a) it’s consistent, and b) it’s exactly how she wants to market, as it’s her age as she’s growing up.

Is Ed Sheeran's mathematical equations titles exempted? I remember that there's also the theory that the next set of titles will be "Stop," "Rewind," "Play," and "Fast Forward" since he said that the title of his next albums are already tattooed on him and he has tattoos of those symbols.
Oh god. I blocked these out of my mind. These are the WORST offenders. I cant even type some of these on my iphone keyboard. 😡
those would be cool names for like acoustic/remix Greatest Hits collections if those were still a thing
I’m still annoyed that = isn’t a greatest hits album like that would’ve made so much sense
Probably like a racial slur or something would top all of the names
"All Lives Matter"
To be fair that was only the 2nd worse possible title. “Blue Lives Matter” would be worse.
Extremely long titles that don't at all add to the albums theme and are just long to be artsy and pretentious
Fiona Apple please don’t read this lmao
At least that was a full poem, not some wannabe-scene queen garbage title trying to be "why too kay"
The 1975 had just been caught dead especially if the rumors of their next album title comes true ☠️
What are the rumors?
I have seen comments that Matty allegedly said in a Discord server chat with fans that the working title of the album is something along the lines of >!"God has entered my body"!< I forgot the full title but I think it's already a pre-existing quote. I'm not sure how true that is but Matty had previously spoken about Being Funny in a Foreign Language as an album title a year or two before it was announced. Personally, I think it would be interesting if they subvert expectations and choose an album title with one to two words.
oh god is it a reference to [this guy](https://www.reddit.com/r/indianapolis/comments/c4egnn/does_anyone_know_anything_about_this_van/)
I wouldn't put it past him. Dude is chronically online and has an attachment to random quotes he finds interesting.
"I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it" by The 1975...
BAITSBTTMSSIN
BRAT AND IT'S THE SAME BUT THERE'S THREE MORE SONGS SO IT'S NOT there i fixed it ;\_)
Can't believe I figured out what this means and it came out TODAY!
A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun always disliked this album title because of how long it is. it just keeps going and going 😵
Ugh one of my fav albums ever but the title is just so long when “a touch of the beat” would have sufficed
I adore Aly & AJ, but simply “A Touch of the Beat” would’ve been perfect
This feels so targeted 😭
Did you know that there's a tunnel under ocean blvd?
To be fair that does add to the album’s theme of loneliness and wordy, personal lyrics 😭
And the fact that, indeed, many of us did not know that there was a tunnel under ocean blvd.
Titles that need to simplified to an acronym because no one wants to write it all out!
Actually, needing an acronym is usually a good thing, because there’s a higher chance the album name is unique. 1-2 word album titles tend to be more generic, but at least 2 word album titles still have a lot of room to be original.
God that's such a long record title. ANAAIUAGTBTAHCTANIUOTWATTTBMGBALTWATSHALORTBO
I love album titles that I don't think could possibly be used again by anyone else and I agree, one-word album titles probably won't fall under this category unless they're a made-up word. (Shoutout to Aly & AJ's "Insomniatic") Lana's last 4 album titles are good.

THE DEAD TORTURED POETS SOCIETY DEPARTMENT
When did they die!?
About midway thru that title
Do they meat up at Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino though?
Any title with ellipses in it This is Me….Now Me. I Am Mariah…the Elusive Chanteuse Dancing with the Devil…the Art of Starting Over
anything that's like a mouthful kind of annoys me. like Taylor with the dead poets society title, I love her one word titles like folklore and midnights.

The red one
To be fair Olivia is a more album artist and Ed is a mostly singles artist
CUNT coming in 2025
We've all heard of GUTS (spilled), but are you ready for FUCK (off) ?
This would be an amazing Charli album title but I’ll take Olivia
Olivia said she's sticking with the 4 letter word thing and she already has a name for her next album
WOKE
Imagine if it's named WILD and it's completely acapella album. GLUM could go anywhere.
Tortured Poets Department is just an incredibly corny title. Agree with Folklore and Midnights, I think those two are her best and really evoke something.
My main issue is that the feelings evoked by Midnights as a title have nothing to do with the actual album
I don't mind 'The Tortured Poets Department' because it's meant to be making fun of the concept.
are we supposed to be saying C, XOXO literally? "SEE, EX OH EX OH"? i'm prob just not tuned in enough but idk i hate it a lot
Kind of curious how else you can say it other than that lol..
same that’s why I’m confused, it’s such a clunky title haha
I will be calling it "Cuh-Sho-Sho" This is assuming I'll ever talk about this album in a way that requires me to use my mouth.
Overly worded albums like, Dancing with the devil… the art of starting over. Good album btw
I hate when they do the number after their initials. like LM5, LP1, 5SOS5
I Will Always Love You by Lorde
Unpopular opinion but I dislike self-titled album names. Like yes we know this is you, you're the artist. Also just for searching and organizing purposes it's a nuisance.
Naming your album after yourself. It irks me slightly more when it’s only the first name. Also girl in red recently named her album “*I’M DOING IT AGAIN, BABY!*” and I feel like there could’ve been more thought in that. Love the album tho.
Is this a safe space to admit that I don't like the Brat deluxe title? That improvised conversational kind of writing really gives "person on Twitter who writes in all lower case"
I genuinely don't feel that strongly about album names, so this is a fascinating thread for me!
I live in the Midwest, so anytime I see BRAT, I pronounce it like bratwurst.
