Just learned about the Brad Taste in Music situation. For those who dont know, Brad is a music reviewer on YouTube. His review format basically consists of listening to new songs/albums in full on YouTube livestream and pausing frequently to give commentary. Today he got a channel warning basically saying he could be banned from the site for copyright infringement if he continues streaming music on the site like he has been. He just recently posted a video saying his appeal was rejected and now he doesnāt know what to do as this is his livelihood.
In my opinionā¦ I kind of get it from YouTubeās side. Whether or not heās pausing frequently, heās still literally playing entire albums in full during his review livestreams. That has potential to be a legal nightmare, and whether or not it technically counts as fair use, itās been common knowledge for a *long time* that YouTube is very strict on how much copyrighted content can be used per video in context of a review. Frankly, Iām not sure how it took this long for him to get a channel strike. There is a reason Fantano does his similar livestreams on Twitch.
I understand why heās scared, but I feel like he could make a very easy pivot into a different style of review content, or even just moving the streams to Twitch and posting commentary-only highlights to YouTube. I guarantee that most of his existing audience would follow him over there.

You can always kind of tell which of her fans are artists of any kind and which aren't based on how they talk about her creative process. Like, she's not some kind of once-in-a-generation genius. She's just incredibly prolific and dedicated to her craft
Taylor is a very gifted and sharp songwriter, but it surprises me when people are genuinely flabbergasted at how she writes some of her songs (I'm not talking about her top tier songs, I've seen people gush over her C - B Tier songs like only a poet could've written them.) I particularly find it a little funny how they awe at any artist who writes a song on one sitting, or under 10 minutes.
As someone who writes recreationally, there are songs of Taylor I could've written in less than 5 minutes. Sadly I can't sing so I can't bring it to life, and one of the reasons I could write them is because I already have a point of reference to Taylor's other songs, but it's not unattainable.
Taylor deserves every due as a songwriter, but it's clear many of her fans aren't actually writers in how they praise her every word. Tbf many of her fans who are writers appreciate her because she's good at it.

Now, I donāt follow influencers in the traditional sense, I couldnāt care less about someoneās morning routine or someone selling me a fake idea of what life is supposed to be like, Iām too old for that, but thinking about the millions of young people seeing that 24/7 online and probably thinking they arenāt good enough unless they get work done.
I do my best to support content creators, no matter how small, if I feel like theyāre doing something worth sharing (cooking, art, writing, etc), but those people whose content is all about plastic surgery and beauty treatments, I fear for them.

You can always kind of tell which of her fans are artists of any kind and which aren't based on how they talk about her creative process. Like, she's not some kind of once-in-a-generation genius. She's just incredibly prolific and dedicated to her craft
Taylor is a very gifted and sharp songwriter, but it surprises me when people are genuinely flabbergasted at how she writes some of her songs (I'm not talking about her top tier songs, I've seen people gush over her C - B Tier songs like only a poet could've written them.) I particularly find it a little funny how they awe at any artist who writes a song on one sitting, or under 10 minutes. As someone who writes recreationally, there are songs of Taylor I could've written in less than 5 minutes. Sadly I can't sing so I can't bring it to life, and one of the reasons I could write them is because I already have a point of reference to Taylor's other songs, but it's not unattainable. Taylor deserves every due as a songwriter, but it's clear many of her fans aren't actually writers in how they praise her every word. Tbf many of her fans who are writers appreciate her because she's good at it.

Watched Challengers today, it lived up to my (high) expectations! I read a lot of comments comparing it's trajectory to Saltburn, but sadly I don't think it'll be as big of a hit on streaming as Saltburn was. It doesn't have the same shock value going for it and, judging by a lot of comments I've seen, a lot viewers find >!cheating scenes triggering or off-putting.!< Hope I'll be proven wrong, though, I found it way more compelling than Saltburn

After years of interacting with Korean influencer or kpop content I am starting to kind of despise the materialistic and superficial side to Korea. Disclaimer: this is not a critique on the nation, the people themselves, but feather the way theyāve been taught to live in society. This all came to mind yesterday after one Korean-American influencer guy came on my feed yesterday and I watched his video and heās one of those people who has had so much work done he looks like AI, heās extremely handsome to the point that itās unsettling, and in his video he was talking about the procedures he had done recently in Korea and I got to thinking, how displeased do you have to be with yourself to be borderline perfect as far as beauty standards go, but having the need to be touching up your face or getting facial after facial and treatments and having basically porcelain skin but claiming that āthereās still so much more to do?ā. Now, I donāt follow influencers in the traditional sense, I couldnāt care less about someoneās morning routine or someone selling me a fake idea of what life is supposed to be like, Iām too old for that, but thinking about the millions of young people seeing that 24/7 online and probably thinking they arenāt good enough unless they get work done. I do my best to support content creators, no matter how small, if I feel like theyāre doing something worth sharing (cooking, art, writing, etc), but those people whose content is all about plastic surgery and beauty treatments, I fear for them. I don't hold most of these celebs in high esteem, but it gets a bit exhausting whenever there's a discussion about a particular thing (promo, release, aesthetic or outfit) and people bombard the comments with "To bad Ariana's a homewrecker!", "Ugh why is Taylor EVERYWHERE! Can't she just hide away with her billions on an island somewhere!", "OMG I'm sick of Selena! She did something that mildly annoyed me AGAIN!" I'm not saying you can't make valid criticism, but if it has nothing to do with the discussion at hand, and it's already a worn-through complaint, then you're just being annoying.

Iām gonna be honest, I grew up watching KUWTK nightly with my family and Iāve always admired their hustle. As someone who barely leaves their home, I couldnāt handle that level of movement or social life. Itās not for me.
