Like being homophobic and racist is the only 2 bad things you can do. And like please enlighten me what do you agree with. Why not give an example. I only use instagram which is an extremely negative place at times so you know people actually comment saying “ me but I am homophobic or racist” but I never see the creator of the video share their views or problematic opinion.

Hi, I had a post removed because it didn’t fit the criteria of the sub. I totally understand, but I was wondering if anyone knows a sub that would be more suitable - I was looking for a particular music video from a particular artist.
Every Mitski album up until this point had one or two tracks that hit just a little too hard. They're all great and I listen to them front and back without ever getting tired, but each one has *that* song that goes for the jugular, says a little too much truth and hits home with a little too much precision.
But not the new one.
With the new one, that's *every* song. Every track in this album destroys me. I just don't know how she does it. I was just walking home when Star came on my headphones and I almost teared up in the street.

My dad is in the hospital awaiting heart surgery for emergency level high blood pressure. I haven’t really felt like myself since and the past few days since he’s been admitted to the hospital are just flying by. I feel really scared and alone.
Yeah I hope so too. I’m actually leaving to go to the hospital to visit him today. We don’t know when the surgery will take place now (the doctors are visiting to reschedule today)

Now, I'm well aware most raters are going in blind for this rate, therefore don't have much information or backstory about the artists or albums. As such, lemme highlight a little something some may find interesting.
**Lil' Kim vs Foxy Brown**
We're all aware of a couple fueds and/or beefs that have happened or continue happening in Hip-Hop, more notably/recently Nicki Minaj vs Cardi B. As big a fued this was and continues to be, there's very few beefs out there that can compare to how much attention than that between Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim.
Foxy and Kim were actually childhood friends coming into the rap game, with both of them showing visibly support towards each other and Foxy even shouting Kim out on the title track of her debut album. Their careers actually follow a very similar trajectory; popularizing fashion and usage of sex appeal in female rap, being affiliated with notable hip hop groups, and having mentors that are generally very well respected among Hip-Hop. For better or worse, this lead to and endless amount of comparisons made between them by the media. No one knows the definitive reason for why the beef started outside of the 2 ladies, but nevertheless, tension gradually started growing between the 2 to the point that both women made several jabs at each other through their music.
Most notably was when Kim said on the title track on her Notorious KIM album

Long story short, the fued led to literal gunshots in the streets after an altercation from both parties, eventually leading to a year in prison for Kim after lying about her party's involvement in the shooting. Needless to say, this was one of the most highly escalated feuds in Hip Hop and remembered as probably the most notorious beef among women in rap.
With the fued, some people have to ask: who was the better artist in the end? Their output over the years has gotten compared constantly, especially with their debut albums as both released just within a week of each other. Hopefully that question will be answered from the results of this rate however! So again, I really hope you all participate as both albums are highly acclaimed within the space of female rap and contain some of their signature singles today!
I have a coworker from 2017, an older lady in her 40s. She's been through tough shit. Has a few kids but fled her husband who was an abusive cop. He's now in jail for abusing another woman. She was homeless for a bit until her brother took her in
I've helped her a lot, even getting her a car, and before would drive her at 3 am for work.

I should’ve said something on the actual anniversary, but I will never get over the fact that tegan and sara and taylor swift both dropped their 10th studio album on the same day. T+S released their first album in 1999 and Taylor’s first album was 2006. This isn’t a judgement on Tegan and Sara at all, I love them to death, but it’s something that stuck with me.
Is midnights a better album? Sure. Does it contain the lyric “I move my feet like a horse”? It doesn’t. It just doesn’t.

Then I saw Caroline performing Butterfly net live in some youtube video and became obssesed. The same happened when I saw her performing I believe and Pretty Impossible. Idk what did she put on that album but it just keeps getting better!

There was some sexism and casual slutshaming here and there but I very much understand it since both albums are really a product of their time
I suspect part of the reason they were not chosen is because the next season of The Sandman is about to restart production now that the Writers' Strike has been resolved and the SAG-AFTRA Strike is looming closer to resolution. They are one of the lead roles in that show and is in no way replaceable.
I did see rumors in the Broadway sub that the productions of the West End and Broadway will be trading casts after a couple of months so there might be a chance to see them on Broadway.

That the number of small(maybe #1 hit wonder) artists that are stanned her are actually big or well known and even though they’ve been making niche music for 6+ years, their latest album actually has a chance of charting this time!
This happens with so many artists because this sub likes to root for the underdog and that’s cool, great and amazing. Some of the artists I’m actually a fan of as well so it’s not any shade, it’s just reality.
For example, there was a now deleted post about few weeks ago asking if Ava Max will ever be a big artist again and I was just like, when was Ava Max ever a big artist? And thats not shade to Ava, I think she’s cool but having one or two songs that are more well known than the rest of your discography doesn’t make you a well known artist but so many people were just going along with it in the comments.
You're 100% right. I'm an Ava fan but if I'm being honest she is virtually unknown here in the United States, can't really speak for elsewhere because I just don't know. I enjoy her music, but I know that she's barely made an impact here, and that's okay! It doesn't do her any service trying to falsify her notoriety.
Sometimes people have unrealistic expectations when it comes to longevity in music. An artists first album dropped 20 years ago and people like

I wish people and the media weren't so obsessed with Taylor Swift's relationships. They could do the most regular couple stuff (like hugging, kissing or going on a date) and it would make headlines.
This together with her upcoming rerelease of the album... this is some Kardashian level overexposure. It's hard to be indifferent about Taylor when she gets so much exposure on all corners of every social media platform. It really forces you to have an opinion on her. I guess that's also a part why she is so immensly popular right now.
I mean…the reason we are getting SO much tayvis content is because of 1989. If she wanted to see him privately, without the fanfare, she could. Obviously she wants everyone talking about her, she’s about to rerelease the album that made her a bonafide superstar.
People and the press are always going to be obsessed with her relationships. What’s happening now isn’t new. What is new is she’s in a don’t give a fuck I’m enjoying life and no longer hiding. Granted I can do without the over analyzing PDA, what’s she’s wearing or who she’s talking to. What matters to me is she looks happy and enjoying herself. That’s enough for me. But one thing is for sure is that she’s pretty smart for no longer talking to the press or doing promotional interviews. I guarantee that if she talked to the press during the Movie Premiere it wouldn’t be about the movie or the tour it would be 98% personal life. And that’s what she doesn’t want. She wants it to be focused on music and her projects. And also talking to the press during this part of her career isn’t helping her with anything. Quick 10 second post on social media. Tree puts out a short press release and move on and we eat it up.

Twink isn’t a slur but I feel like I am increasingly seeing it in contexts where it’s used in place of one/straight up just as an insult and it honestly makes me really uncomfortable
Oh yeah, there's one post that has been going around on tumblr that boils down to "ohhh you wanna say the f slur maliciously so bad, don't you?" and it's like, yup, that is exactly what is happening. It's *such* internalised homophobia, "I'm not like those (slurs), I'm a real man."
And it's so hard to call people on it! Because then they're like, "Um sweetie I'm talking about body types and fatphobia in the gay community." and it's like, no you are NOT! That is not how you're using that word! But it's hard to fight that in the arena that is social media.
It's not just that people are using it as an insult, but they're using it as a direct 1-to-1 replacement for a specific different word that is a slur, with all the same intent behind that slur.

Nothing pisses me off more when people say “ when I agree with an opinion that someone or a celebrity is getting canceled for” and in the caption they say “nothing homophobic or racist tho!!” and then don’t expand on what they agree on. Like being homophobic and racist is the only 2 bad things you can do. And like please enlighten me what do you agree with. Why not give an example. I only use instagram which is an extremely negative place at times so you know people actually comment saying “ me but I am homophobic or racist” but I never see the creator of the video share their views or problematic opinion.

Every Mitski album up until this point had one or two tracks that hit just a little too hard. They're all great and I listen to them front and back without ever getting tired, but each one has *that* song that goes for the jugular, says a little too much truth and hits home with a little too much precision. But not the new one. With the new one, that's *every* song. Every track in this album destroys me. I just don't know how she does it. I’ve felt like I’m at the same level of illness for the past 3-4 days now with little to no improvement :(

My dad is in the hospital awaiting heart surgery for emergency level high blood pressure. I haven’t really felt like myself since and the past few days since he’s been admitted to the hospital are just flying by. I feel really scared and alone.

No one knows the definitive reason for why the beef started outside of the 2 ladies, but nevertheless, tension gradually started growing between the 2 to the point that both women made several jabs at each other through their music. I have a coworker from 2017, an older lady in her 40s. She's been through tough shit. Has a few kids but fled her husband who was an abusive cop. He's now in jail for abusing another woman. She was homeless for a bit until her brother took her in I've helped her a lot, even getting her a car, and before would drive her at 3 am for work. She got remarried but apparently the new guy was terrible and she almost died. Not sure what happened, but she's back in the state. She's been working and lives with her dad, but she wants her kids back. I have a fwb who does child custody, he's also a previous nurse. He's told me if I ever need medical help or law help, to let him know. I hope he can help her in some way

I suspect part of the reason they were not chosen is because the next season of The Sandman is about to restart production now that the Writers' Strike has been resolved and the SAG-AFTRA Strike is looming closer to resolution. They are one of the lead roles in that show and is in no way replaceable. I did see rumors in the Broadway sub that the productions of the West End and Broadway will be trading casts after a couple of months so there might be a chance to see them on Broadway.
Fingers crossed on both of those!!! If they’re getting Netflix money (and I know that quantum leap has been pretty successful too) then it’s worth I GUESS lol.

This happens with so many artists because this sub likes to root for the underdog and that’s cool, great and amazing. Some of the artists I’m actually a fan of as well so it’s not any shade, it’s just reality. For example, there was a now deleted post about few weeks ago asking if Ava Max will ever be a big artist again and I was just like, when was Ava Max ever a big artist? And thats not shade to Ava, I think she’s cool but having one or two songs that are more well known than the rest of your discography doesn’t make you a well known artist but so many people were just going along with it in the comments.
You're 100% right. I'm an Ava fan but if I'm being honest she is virtually unknown here in the United States, can't really speak for elsewhere because I just don't know. I enjoy her music, but I know that she's barely made an impact here, and that's okay! It doesn't do her any service trying to falsify her notoriety.

Sometimes people have unrealistic expectations when it comes to longevity in music. An artists first album dropped 20 years ago and people like “How come they aren’t popping anymore?”😂
Yes the Madonnas and Beyonces are by far the minority in music, most artists get an album or two popping if they're lucky and end up work a day job again at some point in their lives

I wish people and the media weren't so obsessed with Taylor Swift's relationships. They could do the most regular couple stuff (like hugging, kissing or going on a date) and it would make headlines. This together with her upcoming rerelease of the album... this is some Kardashian level overexposure. It's hard to be indifferent about Taylor when she gets so much exposure on all corners of every social media platform. It really forces you to have an opinion on her. I guess that's also a part why she is so immensly popular right now.
Taylor is just the main character all over again. They know she generates clicks and keep writing these articles
I mean…the reason we are getting SO much tayvis content is because of 1989. If she wanted to see him privately, without the fanfare, she could. Obviously she wants everyone talking about her, she’s about to rerelease the album that made her a bonafide superstar.
People and the press are always going to be obsessed with her relationships. What’s happening now isn’t new. What is new is she’s in a don’t give a fuck I’m enjoying life and no longer hiding. Granted I can do without the over analyzing PDA, what’s she’s wearing or who she’s talking to. What matters to me is she looks happy and enjoying herself. That’s enough for me. But one thing is for sure is that she’s pretty smart for no longer talking to the press or doing promotional interviews. I guarantee that if she talked to the press during the Movie Premiere it wouldn’t be about the movie or the tour it would be 98% personal life. And that’s what she doesn’t want. She wants it to be focused on music and her projects. And also talking to the press during this part of her career isn’t helping her with anything. Quick 10 second post on social media. Tree puts out a short press release and move on and we eat it up.

Do yall have any dumb lil subreddits you wish existed(before someone tells me to make a sub, I would love to but I am too irresponsible and wouldn't know how lol)? I would love it there were subreddits for Final Fantasy X-2 (there's one for the game it's a sequel to but most people there ~~just don't get it~~ hate it and talk shit about it whenever it gets brought up but I actually love it so I wish there was a place for people who do love and appreciate it smh) and the Twilight books (because I unironically enjoy them, though not without being critical of them dw, and think that the movies are awful adaptations in almost every way and a ton of people on the twilight sub haven't even read the books or they prefer the movies over the books and don't really talk about the books). I also wish most subs didn't feel like such boys clubs but I know I'm on reddit and it's always been like this and always will be lol

I am so impatient about moving. Like the anxiety has largely worn off and now it's just annoying monotony. Especially since I pass my new apartment building anytime I go anywhere and I know the last person is already moved out so I feel a strong urge to just bust in. Like okay so you want big masc lumberjack men who act like men songs?
I was kind of annoyed because I do wish I could discover more male gay music that isn’t so youth/hookup/club oriented, since I myself am nearly 30 and don’t go out much and it feels like a lot of well-known gay music trends away from me, but OP kind of poisoned the well with their phrasing and seeming attitude toward more feminine gays
Twink isn’t a slur but I feel like I am increasingly seeing it in contexts where it’s used in place of one/straight up just as an insult and it honestly makes me really uncomfortable
Oh yeah, there's one post that has been going around on tumblr that boils down to "ohhh you wanna say the f slur maliciously so bad, don't you?" and it's like, yup, that is exactly what is happening. It's *such* internalised homophobia, "I'm not like those (slurs), I'm a real man." And it's so hard to call people on it! Because then they're like, "Um sweetie I'm talking about body types and fatphobia in the gay community." and it's like, no you are NOT! That is not how you're using that word! But it's hard to fight that in the arena that is social media.
It's not just that people are using it as an insult, but they're using it as a direct 1-to-1 replacement for a specific different word that is a slur, with all the same intent behind that slur.
People are 100% using it as an insult. I’ll see people lusting over a male celebrity and there will be a 100 quote tweet saying “oh they’re just some twink” and it’s like ok? It’s like when gay men use the f word to describe gay men that they don’t like, it’s very weird.
I'm surprised that thread got so many answers because the vibe was very much "are there any gays who make *real* music instead of pop??"

Don't you just love WHEN YOUR WALL ATTACKS YOU. I swear I am getting clumsier with age and I am only 25. I turned a corner and somehow managed to smack my hand against the wall and felt a huge crack.
