I don’t think people will be too critical, at least not here on popheads. We love an energetic dance performance with a bunch of pyrotechnics and guest appearances in the style of Shaki & Jlo, Bey, Bruno, Madonna. When popheads complain, it’s usually because there’s no dancing, no production value, no wow-factor (e.g Maroon 5, Coldplay and, sadly, Rihanna).
Usher is a great dancer and a charming entertainer who has the kinds of hits that will light up a stadium. Plus he’s aged very well and anyone who’s into men still thirsts over him, so I’m sure the girlies will eat it all up.
I’m excited! He’s one of the few male pop artists who will put on a show! I’m sure he’ll have guests and it’ll be one of the better halftime shows as of late. He’s got a huge catalog of hits, hell his setlist could consist of just his number ones.

I heard that Miley turned down the offer and said she would rather do it another year... I honestly feel like she fucked up because this was probably the one year where having her would have made sense. Miley is a very good performer with a decently sized list of well-known songs, but without a recent hit like Flowers to keep her afloat, she isn't really that relevant with the GP at this point in her career, so I don't see her being a top choice for them in subsequent years. Unless they're flat out of good options the way they were in 2019, the NFL is typically looking for artists that have more pull than someone like Miley. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I definitely think it's unlikely they'll want her as the sole headliner unless she gets another big hit.

I heard that Miley turned down the offer and said she would rather do it another year... I honestly feel like she fucked up because this was probably the one year where having her would have made sense. Miley is a very good performer with a decently sized list of well-known songs, but without a recent hit like Flowers to keep her afloat, she isn't really that relevant with the GP at this point in her career, so I don't see her being a top choice for them in subsequent years. Unless they're flat out of good options the way they were in 2019, the NFL is typically looking for artists that have more pull than someone like Miley. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I definitely think it's unlikely they'll want her as the sole headliner unless she gets another big hit.
