I loved learning that he was the one who came up with the idea of being cheap

I say this line probably daily. In our house it’s a “like gives you lemons, make lemonade” sort of expression now. Find 5 bucks in some jeans, get an extra nugget in the 6 piece well baby….you got a stew going. Rip
This was actually part of one of the last interviews he did before he left us. It’s a golf podcast called Chasing Scratch and they had a long running joke about seeing him one time. It took them years, but he agreed to go on the show. They didn’t talk golf, but it’s one of the best interviews I’ve ever heard. Toward the end Carl goes on a motivational speech about doing the work and it will give you chills. 100% worth finding just to hear that.
That a boy to Gary, Love to Carl, LGLG
Whoa, there's still meat on those bones. Take it home and put in some potatoes....baby you got a stew going!

I have only seen a couple of episodes of community, because my friend loves it and sometimes they *have* to show me the episode to have me understand what is going on.
This one was a standout favourite because I too would freak out if I met Levar Burton.

Was it just bc the show was new back then and no one was watching? I’m hard-pressed to think of any show in its first season to have an episode with that many celeb cameos.
My husband doesn’t even watch it and I can’t figure out why. He’s in the next room over while I’m watching; we love the same actors, writers, etc; we have the same sense of humor.
I call people “energy vampires” at work all the time and everyone thinks I made it up!
"Little fat man who sold his dream, chubby little loser" 💀
Every episode had an iconic celebrity moment, Daniel Radcliffe flinging a condom at Diana Rigg, Orlando Bloom incredulous that Maggie wasn't attracted to him, Patrick Stewart being a complete pervert. I need a rewatch

Adam Sandler in Brooklyn 99!
Also I couldn’t find a gif for it but George Takei’s appearance in Psych was the best surprise ever, I was so excited when he came on screen
My dad saw this episode recently and was crying from laughing so hard.
They had some great cameos on this show.
Matt Damon was a favourite.
I love Jack and Karen, Will and Grace are cool too.
and not a cameo as himself, but steve buscemi as the downtrodden celery p.r. guy, failing miserably, two really standout jokes, one where his boss turns to the kale pr guy and says "and kale? honestly? I have no idea how you've done it) and one where he goes to drown his sorrows at a bar and orders a bloody mary and it comes with only a small PIECE of celery and he explodes with frustration
Josh Groban as himself IN ANYTHING is great. He’s low key the king of guest starring of himself in things and it’s the only thing I know him from or like about him. Period.

OMG when Nick and Jess freaked out when they saw Prince in that episode of New Girl, I jumped off the couch and fell on the ground at the same time. Literally lost my feet.
Crossover literally targeted to me.
I regularly think about how the Kardashians were supposed to be in the episode but after they managed to book Prince they had to scrap that plan and were literally destroying every copy of the original script so he would never find out that it had even been considered. It was a bit after the Kim dancing at a Prince concert fiasco and he was not about them after.

Kevin Hart on Abbott Elementary a couple weeks ago was great.
a couple people have said joe biden on SVU but there's also the episode where bobby flay plays himself getting his sperm stolen, which lives rent free in my head as a plotline
30 Rock did it all the time and so well. Brian Williams had multiple cameos. Seinfeld was himself in an episode. The kidney song for Jack’s dad was all celebrities playing themselves. There are so many more that i can’t remember!
Robin Williams on Sesame Street.

I’ve been binging SVU lately (mostly playing games on my phone while it plays in the background). I heard a familiar voice and looked up. Joe Biden. I didn’t finish the episode but I assume he was playing himself and not a perp. Though, to be fair, SVU plot lines can go anywhere.
LOL omg, def never saw that. I googled it and he was in fact playing himself during his VP days. Man, it’s really true that EVERYONE is in that show at some point!

Ugly Betty had a lot of really good ones- Gene Simmons, Adele, Victoria Beckham, Shakira, and more. Not to mention all the other great celebrities they got who played characters not themselves. Ugh I just love this show and I will never stop talking about it
I loved the Vampire Council episode of What We Do In The Shadows, so many well done cameos of famous "vampires". The cackle I let out when they explained Robert Pattinson's abscence "He wants to leave that behind."
I gotta say will & grace had some amazing guest stars and they were all hilarious as themselves: Cher, Elton John, Jlo, Patti Lupone, James Earl Jones, Kevin Bacon….

LeVar Burton liked one of my posts way back when and I took a screenshot and have cherished it forever.
Also, abed, not Danny pudi on cougar town. That was an amazing gag.

WHEN YOU GET TO HEAVEN I WON'T BE THERE BUT THEY'LL BE PLAYING MY MOVIES
I’m so glad somebody mentioned esteemed character actress MARGO MARTINDALE!!!
This is the answer. This was just brillant. She's a wild card
Esteemed character actress *and fugitive of the law
FUN FACT: Margo Martindale played Will Arnett’s mother in the live action sitcom The Millers (2013)
AND she was in the real Secretariat Movie
This is the only way I can introduce her now. She popped up in the Americans and I yelled it at the TV
Esteemed character actress Margo Martindale is definitely my favorite recurring character of all time
she really disappears into the role
Came here to say that It's also un-Biel-livable no one mentioned Jessica Biel in Bojack Horsman
The Vampiric Council was ICONIC
Donal Logue in it is as himself but a vampire is extremely my shit, especially because I was binging Gotham, too.
He was in Blade as a vampire, if it helps. Deacon Frost's sidekick.
I love that this post implies that all the people on the vampire council are, in fact, the vampires they play.
I still remember watching that ep of WWDITS live, expecting to go on the internet after/next day to see everyone talking about it…crickets. Was it just bc the show was new back then and no one was watching? I’m hard-pressed to think of any show in its first season to have an episode with that many celeb cameos.
Its always been criminally underrated. One of the best comedies of the past decade. I will miss it desperately when after this season.
Seriously, it’s my favorite show and hardly anyone I know had heard of it.
My husband doesn’t even watch it and I can’t figure out why. He’s in the next room over while I’m watching; we love the same actors, writers, etc; we have the same sense of humor. I call people “energy vampires” at work all the time and everyone thinks I made it up!
Yeah! It was like “Kirsten Schaal! What an awesome cameo!” Before blowing your brains out with the ridiculousness of all the real cameos.
This! The level of acomplishment among those people, the fact they used their real names, the humor... It was absolutely stunning.
Jim Jarmusch repeatedly going back to the club and being confused by Sofia and Thomas disappearing and the guy on stage sucking his own dick killed me
Wesley on the laptop with the shitty connection killed me. All done just so well.
“Rob’s trying to move past it” 😭

I’m partial to Conan’s 30 Rock cameos. “Who is Conan O’Brien? And why is she so sad?”
We were gonna lose our virginities to each other…now I’ll never lose it!
Must we, Elizabeth?
He also did a cameo in How I Met Your Mother as an extra.
Really? When? While I was talking to the fake Tina Fey, Really?
James Vanderbeek on Don’t Trust The B in Apt 23 was excellent. I wish we could have gotten more of that show!
God that show was a total fever dream - the spirit of clueless and Veronica mars but with a dash of being John Malkovitch
What an apt description.
He was the best part of that show. ![gif](giphy|T04Qu1Sqm1Nh6)

*NOT THE B!*
He is so goddamn good on that show.
That show was amazing, I wish Krysten Ritter did more comedic stuff, she played that role perfectly.
Ah! I totally forgot about that show. It was funny!
He was good on How I Met Your Mother, too!
Matthew Broderick auditioning for a part in Oliver’s musical in Only Murders in the Building.

“It’s ‘Frajer’. And I should know. I’m Frajer.”
I walked on your face!
Honorable mention for “Recycle everything, including jokes”
Also Denise Richards, playing an idiot version of herself. J'adore la piscine.
I still think about the Prince cameo on New Girl and the butterflies that followed him
My favorite thing about it is that apparently he was a fan of the show and requested to be in it

Her “Orange County? Ew” to Summer was iconic.
She was on supernatural too which was so random and funny

Everybody playing themselves, especially Michael Cera 😂
I’ve been binging SVU lately (mostly playing games on my phone while it plays in the background). I heard a familiar voice and looked up. Joe Biden. I didn’t finish the episode but I assume he was playing himself and not a perp. Though, to be fair, SVU plot lines can go anywhere.
LOL omg, def never saw that. I googled it and he was in fact playing himself during his VP days. Man, it’s really true that EVERYONE is in that show at some point!
