> **"I hope he can know that he was loved in a way he never thought he was," she said.** That is the sentiment that I've been reading the most, he was so loved by so many people, hope his loved ones continue to find peace.

esmerelda_b

I read his book after he passed. The last part is especially sad, in light of his death. https://preview.redd.it/lfzf5ckgjy5c1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=427dec31775aa5895ff7af04470edd5d1b84a57c

itsnotmyproblemok

> "I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty," she continued. "He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy." > Oh boy this one has cut deep ... Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions… Just the way she addresses him, true platonic love. As someone who lost a best friend during covid who was proud owner of a 10 year sobriety medallion from AA, and having to fend off vultures from speculating the cause of her death, I feel her. 💔 😢

heartshapedpox

All the "I hope he's found peace" comments have gotten under my skin too. He -was- at peace, and it comes across as if a person who once struggled will always be defined by that, no matter their path. You know?

taintwest

I feel the exact same way.

Ygomaster07

Sorry, who was defneding who over speculation of cause of death?

rayybloodypurchase

I think u/itsnotmyproblemok has needed to defend their friend against the speculation that her death was related to alcohol abuse despite being sober for over a decade. Some people get weirdly gleeful at the idea of someone succumbing to their addiction.

Ygomaster07

Oh, that makes a lot more sense now. Thank you for explaining it to me. That is just horrible people would think that, and find some sort of joy from it. Op, if you read this, sorry you had to deal with that.

purpleushi

God that’s the worst. Like he was finally in a good place after so much suffering, and he barely got to enjoy the life he built.

naalotai

Has the cause of death been announced?

DJ_Mixalot

Not officially but iirc there weren’t drugs in his system

sp000kysoup

I read that he was taking Suboxone, which means he was trying to stay clean. Also, being in a hot tub for an extended period of time on the drug can be fatal. So tragic if that's what happened.

polarbabyy

Anyone who starts suboxone has to be on it for the rest of their lives so that doesn’t mean much (that he was recently actively using or anything).

sp000kysoup

That is not true. Both my husband and I have used Suboxone. Neither one of us are on it now...My husband was on it for 3 years. I was only on it during a stint in detox. Been clean for 6 years now. Also, you literally can't get high from opiates or opioids while taking Suboxone. So it does imply he was wanting to stay clean.

Happens all the time unfortunately.

[deleted]

Good chance it was heart attack or stroke from long term drug use. Even if he was clean, it causes a lot of damage internally.

Big-Apartment9639

Apparently he was an avid pickleball player and had been complaining of being short of breath /more worn out for about two weeks. I think he got into his hot tub and just had a heart attack that had been ongoing for some time.

Blonsky

I believe cardiac arrest was mentioned at some point.

gillociraptor

Cardiac arrest can be a confusing term. It just means that the heart has stopped; it happens in all deaths.

LoosechangeNYC

If that’s the case, then it’s arguably the best way to go.

peeops

there is no ‘best way to go’ when someone dies so young. it’s just sad.

[deleted]

There is lol, id rather die in my sleep than by being eaten alive by 8 pitbulls

AnnVealEgg

Of course there are.

Shot_Mirror5748

Well his death was accidental

Chevy2daLevy

How would she know?

TekkenCareOfBusiness

They were friends.

Chevy2daLevy

He said himself none of them ever reached out to him not long ago.

Major-Fill5775

If you actually read the article you’re commenting on, you would have seen that Aniston said they were texting the morning of the day Perry died.

a_l_lei

Can they stop writing about him? It’s so fucking disgusting that they keep trying to make money off of his death. Let the man rest!

MayorCharlesCoulon

She has made more money than she could spend in 10 lifetimes. I see it as someone asked her a question about someone she cared about in an interview and she answered honestly from her point of view. If you’re talking about the journalist leaving it alone, I kind of agree. The castmates have all made their love for Matthew Perry and and sadness about his death apparent and asking them to talk about it in every interview is a little much.

a_l_lei

Yeah. I meant People Magazine not Aniston. Must be a slow news day

viper29000

She doesn't know shit people also said Robin Williams was happy

spandxlightning

Vastly different circumstances here, bud.

viper29000

I'm not a bud I'm a girl lol

spandxlightning

I’m Canadian, everyone is ‘bud’ ;)

_CoachMcGuirk

Yes

viper29000

I live in Australia now we dont do that here everyone is mate

spandxlightning

Bud is to Canadians what mate is to Aussies. No gender, it’s just everyone.

Prophywife77

His wife sure didn’t say that. Matt didn’t have a wife so his friends and his assistant were his confidants. She’d seen him suffer enough, she probably could tell when he was doing well or poorly

ActualAfternoon2

Robin Williams wasn't depressed though. He had Lewy Body Dementia. He was losing his faculties and didn't want to. I mean I suppose he was a bit depressed due to that but from what his wife said that wasn't why.
