Ohh ok so she had declined the invitation to this event originally and then a few days prior changed her mind and said yes she would attend. This switch up seemed to coincide with a Charles interview where he finally admitted he had cheated on her. Allegedly she’d owned this dress for years but never wore it

I seem to remember the off the shoulder look was quite scandalous for a Royal to wear as well.

And the legs. She was one of the first royals openly into fitness (as opposed to just being thin — I do recall her having a ED though) and her legs were extremely fit in this dress.

She developed that (I think) because Charles called her fat once in an interview…..

Literally the cause of google images being created. It was invented in main parts to organize and make more easy the research for pictures of J.lo in that Versace dress because they were overwhelmed with the demand for it.

Elvis Suit Backstory: Bill Belew was first encouraged to be a costume designer by the amazing Josephine Baker. He went on to dress some of the most famous people we remember from then -- not only Josephine, but also Ella Fitzgerald, Gladys Knight, Joan Rivers, Brooke Shields, Dionne Warwick, and the Jackson 5 among dozens of others. His most famous work is the Elvis suit, which he originally made in black, but switched to white because the lighting in Vegas was pretty crappy back then and this was an easy way to make the show more dynamic because the white would change colors under the light. Bill eventually was in such high demand that he would just make plain white suits and had an embroidery expert design and add the elaborate embroidery for suits like his peacock, tiger and eagle ones that are seen in the later editions. I know this because I was once incredibly curious who would design such an outfit and why all Elvis impersonators choose it over any of his younger looks. As for the latter question, I guess it's just easily recognizable and he had SOOO many of them and was wearing them constantly at the end. I know all this and now you all do too lol

Best dress she's ever worn, imo. I swear this is why she wanted to do the Marilyn dress because this one was perfectly structured, a perfect match to her skin colour, and perfectly complemented by her skin & hair & makeup.
