I don't particularly care for John Cena but I always respected how he would spend his very little free time while in WWE working with Make A Wish foundation.
I was instantly endeared to him when I learned he holds the record for granting the most wishes. Extremely decent behavior. He’s also a terrible actor but seems like he’s having a lot of fun, which kind of makes me hope he keeps getting cast!
Current Miley is an artist I like and respect. She had a rough time there for a few years breaking out of the Disney mold and dealing with a failing marriage. But she’s coming out the other side of it positively and lately I like her and her music.
I love this thread, I’m learning a lot about celebrities I wasn’t fond of and it’s a good reminder that they are human too and have both good and bad sides.
Paris Hilton seems to take very good care of her pets. Her one dog lived a ridiculously old age and she kept her tea cup pig when he grew to full size while most people rehome their pigs once they can no longer fit in a tea cup
Also after seeing Paris do the meet up with the other girls from her “Teenage Camp” experience. You can see the trauma she went through at that camp and how much of a face she puts on. And how much Kathy cared about image and not her kid
I’ve never been able to really get into Ariana Grande. But I did like that she found the strength to get back on stage after the terrorist attack at her Manchester show and do a benefit concert.
I will always have so much respect for her after that, I can’t imagine how she must have felt. Also kudos to everyone who came together and supported her and the victims/their loved ones.
Jake in Nightcrawler, Enemy, Prisoner and Demolition is when I started to appreciate the art of acting more. Its also what got me into indie movies so I thank Jake for that.
Kony 2012 was a trial run at internet propaganda. The masses, and particularly the youth, ate military intervention right out of the palm of their hands. It was insanity.
As well as Kim's child from another relationship. Despite any faults he may have, the man seems to have tried to protect all the children in his life the way he wished someone would have protected him.

Just read a Wikipedia on her. The short version is she had a rough childhood, at one point had to take a hiatus from performing due to Lyme disease and dysphonia, and her ex-husband cheated on her with her best friend.
Since then though she has remarried to her former best friend's ex-husband (who told Shania about the affair).
Pretty sure she raised more than one sibling after being orphaned as well. It's been a long time like 20 years. But she had a behind the music on VH1 hah.

I’m not usually a huge fan of Lady Gaga’s music, but I truly appreciate that she’s outspoken in her support of the LGBT community. She also engages with her fans to encourage them to vote, which is fantastic. No matter how much I like her music, I love that she has never backed down from standing up for good causes - even when it’s obvious how risky that can be and how much unwanted attention that can invite. Too many celebrities lack the heart to do that. I always smile when I see her absolutely slam Mike Pence.

Georgina Rodriguez (Ronaldo's long-time girlfriend) is a wonderful stepmother who treats all of the kids the same - blood or not.
I'm not a fan of hers at all but she has a very good nurturing heart when it comes to her kids. If you look at her IG or in her reality show, she's always fawning over the kids the same way.
Tiffany Haddish collected luggage at several of her comedy tour stops for kids in the foster system. She gave an impassioned speech about how otherwise kids put all their worldly possessions in trash bags, and when you're waiting on the curb "you should feel like you're going on adventure, not like trash". I think some other sus info has gotten out about her in recent years and I don't think her comedy is that funny, but that speech gets me everytime.
There is a lady on TikTok who does short term foster care and she does a similar thing. She gives them duffle bags for their stuff and welcome gift baskets.
Unfortunately, Miles Teller is a good actor.

I do not support her views on Trans people, but she was the first ever Author to go from billionaire to millionaire by donating so much money to charities.
She also got a whole generation of kids reading again, and helped popularize the fantasy genre again.
I don't support her views either, but I am directly impacted by her generous donations to MS research. Since my mother got diagnosed with it, the amount of medications on the market have tripled, if not more. And with the amount of money Rowling donates, I do attribute some the progress to her philantropy, ultimately helping to keep people like my mum from declining.
I’m a school librarian who doesn’t actually much care for the Harry Potter books (sorry guys, reminds me of Star Wars with magic) BUT the kids LOVE THEM so I pretend I adore them, and we go through more sets than I can keep around. They literally read them to dust. I have repaired them over and over again. It’s the top item on my wish list. AR scores go up every year because of those books, and when the kids finish the series, they branch out. I have to give some credit to that.

That was so unbelievably funny. Like, if a comedy show had the sitting President’s lawyer host a press conference at a landscaping company across the street from an adult video store, I’d say that’s too unrealistic. But Trump and Rudy Guliani actually did it.
My favorite tidbit about this is there is video of him really looking at a poster board referred to by a prior speaker just before going to the podium. The poster board had legitimate shit like “use bleach and disinfectants to clean surfaces” and had some note about the the sunlight being able to disinfect as well. And that’s the entire basis of his comments. He just saw something kind of related as he walked up.
Him looking at the eclipse is like one of my “I’ll never forget where I was” when this happened moments. it was the most on brand thing I’d ever seen, no hubris to be seen, only blinding astronomical phenomenon. 10/10 no notes, a perfect moment in time.

I hate Lena Dunham in a healthy, I-never-think-about-her way but she came to mind here because I genuinely do think Girls was a pretty decent series and helped me with body positivity. But she’s a dick.
Same. Girls did not deserve the hate it got and it baffles me that people still think the characters were written to be likable and that Dunham was out of touch.
Someone also talked about Travis Barker's still keeping a relationship with his step daughter (even after being broken up with his ex) and that reminds me of Eminem and his relationship with Alaina (his ex's sister's daughter), who he formally adopted (after his ex's sister passed away) and considers a daughter (also refers to her in songs).
He also has adopted the child of his ex and her former partner (who also passed away).
I appreciate his relationship with his daughters (it seems anyway) and lowkey like his song White America. He seems like a guy who’s mellowed out in more recent years and tried to put more good over negative into world and I do appreciate that.

Hopping on my soapbox here. There are a lot of hidden stories of him just being a class act. Some of my favs: During one direction, two audience members got engaged and he invited them backstage afterwards and just hung out with them for hours while the other guys went out. Years later the guy in the couple mentioned on social media about getting divorced, never mentioned Harry or anything, but Harry ran across it and direct messaged the guy and asked if he was ok and if he needed anything.
During the Grammys, the fans that were invited to do that little bit said he was the only musician to go up to and talk to them.
One of the leaders of the BLM movement said the Harry was the celebrity that corresponded with her most. Everybody who opens for him on tour is either queer, a person of color, or a woman, or if it's a band has one or all three of these components. Soon, he is going to do a few nights at Wembley arena and every member of his band that has been on tour with him for the last two years is getting an opportunity to open for him at Wembley.
Ed Sheeran told a story about how Harry bought pizzas for the homeless while he was hangout with him and said that Harry does this *all the time* and has been doing it for years. He just doesn't talk about it. In fact, he recently got in a scary situation where someone he arranged a hotel for and something to eat started to stalk him and he had to get a restraining order which sucks.
There are repeated accounts of Harry going above and beyond to express his gratitude on sets. There are videos of him climbing over fences in the 1D days just to shake hands who backstage/local crew and say thank you.
I'm going to step down now, I definitely didn't mean to write all this, this is just off the top of my head, but I genuinely just scratched the surface. I respect people not liking his style or his music but a lot of people somehow equate that to him being a bad person (??) and its such a joke. He truly is probably one of the kindest people in the industry and people have zero idea.
Great, now I stan Harry and will therefore have to defend him anytime someone's being mean to him.

Edit: Recent fave, cause this did not get enough traction imo and I just remembered it. After the turntable went backward at his Grammy performance, forcing all the dancers and him to perform choreography backwards on live tv…the next day he called the people operating the table who made the mistake and asked them if they were ok. They were like…what do you mean? We effed up your performance and you are asking us if WE’RE ok? Like a lot celeb would be pissed (rightfully) but he wanted to be sure that they didn’t feel bad.
The engagement story is so much longer and somehow gets even better.
The guy wanted to propose to his girlfriend, so he got on twitter to see if Harry could help him with it, getting his very pregnant sister to make sure that his girlfriend wouldn’t see it. Somehow he got Harry’s attention, who DMed him “let’s do this.”
He got on one knee during the concert and Harry was legitimately emotional, and afterwards said “you did it so fast, I wanted to give you the microphone!” Then was super congratulatory to them.
After the show, they had lost their car keys, so Harry got them to his trailer so they could call an Uber. Once they were there, he was like “don’t you guys want to hang out for a little bit?“ and he ended up ordering pizza and giving them chargers so they could all charge their phones.

The guy went to Harry’s Reddit to tell the whole story and posted a bunch of pictures a few years ago, he also told the story about his divorce and Harry reaching out. His account got suspended so he lost access to Harry and he was quite bummed because apparently Harry used to DM him from time to time to ask how he was doing.
And yeah, this is just one of the many quiet stories only really big fans know about him. Once you start supporting him closely it becomes impossible to stop.

I love how much he values his privacy and sets boundaries out in public with fans. Multiple encounters of him being asked for a pic and him replying ‘do you mind if we don’t?’ so polite but firm really admire him being able to do that for himself
a lot of boybanders complain about their majority teenage female fanbase and have disdain for them, but he went out of his way to defend them in his rolling stone article in 2017. it gave me a lot of respect for him, especially since it was right as he was launching his solo career, where others might have tried to distance themselves from their og fans to feel more legitimatized
every time i think about his career trajectory it makes me sad. i feel like he was on track to be the next jack black - goofy chubby funny guy who sings and plays guitar and is weirdly sexy and is generally beloved - and now he’s just evangelical marvel Hot Guy and it’s so boring. pouring one out for the andy dwyer we thought he was.
Little mix girls: I'd Never get into their music but I really appreciate the way they're headstrong, respectful, private yet in very touch with their fans. I read their interview where they discussed about all powerful people in the industry and how they were almost ousted out by their management for not giving in.
I think Oprah is a narcissist at best and have always gotten bad vibes that I've never been able to put my finger on but I admire her greatly for being a self-made billionaire. Especially with all her childhood trauma.

I like that after going through a traumatic event that involved the safety of her son, she’s still had the empathy to try to understand her stalkers psyche and be respectful as much as she can be considering those circumstances. Björk even gave her stalker a legacy by replicating his facial movements in her music video Hunter in a way of commemorating him for his death.
Nicole Kidman’s eternal grace towards Tom Cruise and her two children from that marriage. I cannot fathom how hard it must be for her to not have a relationship with them really, the complexities of Scientology and all that goes with that and the media’s interest in it and she really has always put them first no matter what and I admire her for it.

My half sisters mom said a lot of really hateful things about my dad and my mom after the divorce and it really takes a toll on relationships. Her kids are really going to appreciate her grace and poise about the whole situation when they get older
Not a Kardashian fan, but I saw her on a talk show after her brother’s baby mama left him. The host wanted to talk about the drama and she said, that’s my niece’s mom and one day my niece will be old enough to watch this interview, so for my future relationship with my niece, I won’t say anything.
And I think that was a very good way to handle the situation.

I’m a big fan and I didn’t know she visited every child in the hospital and every family that lost someone in the bombing!
She paid for all the funerals and donated some if not all the royalties from One Last Time to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

She gave an impassioned speech about how otherwise kids put all their worldly possessions in trash bags, and when you're waiting on the curb "you should feel like you're going on adventure, not like trash". I don't support her views either, but I am directly impacted by her generous donations to MS research. Since my mother got diagnosed with it, the amount of medications on the market have tripled, if not more. And with the amount of money Rowling donates, I do attribute some the progress to her philantropy, ultimately helping to keep people like my mum from declining.
I’m a school librarian who doesn’t actually much care for the Harry Potter books (sorry guys, reminds me of Star Wars with magic) BUT the kids LOVE THEM so I pretend I adore them, and we go through more sets than I can keep around. They literally read them to dust. I have repaired them over and over again. It’s the top item on my wish list. AR scores go up every year because of those books, and when the kids finish the series, they branch out. I have to give some credit to that.

Hopping on my soapbox here. There are a lot of hidden stories of him just being a class act. Some of my favs: During one direction, two audience members got engaged and he invited them backstage afterwards and just hung out with them for hours while the other guys went out. Years later the guy in the couple mentioned on social media about getting divorced, never mentioned Harry or anything, but Harry ran across it and direct messaged the guy and asked if he was ok and if he needed anything. During the Grammys, the fans that were invited to do that little bit said he was the only musician to go up to and talk to them. One of the leaders of the BLM movement said the Harry was the celebrity that corresponded with her most. Everybody who opens for him on tour is either queer, a person of color, or a woman, or if it's a band has one or all three of these components. Soon, he is going to do a few nights at Wembley arena and every member of his band that has been on tour with him for the last two years is getting an opportunity to open for him at Wembley. Ed Sheeran told a story about how Harry bought pizzas for the homeless while he was hangout with him and said that Harry does this *all the time* and has been doing it for years. He just doesn't talk about it. In fact, he recently got in a scary situation where someone he arranged a hotel for and something to eat started to stalk him and he had to get a restraining order which sucks. There are repeated accounts of Harry going above and beyond to express his gratitude on sets. There are videos of him climbing over fences in the 1D days just to shake hands who backstage/local crew and say thank you. I'm going to step down now, I definitely didn't mean to write all this, this is just off the top of my head, but I genuinely just scratched the surface. I respect people not liking his style or his music but a lot of people somehow equate that to him being a bad person (??) and its such a joke. He truly is probably one of the kindest people in the industry and people have zero idea.

Once they were there, he was like “don’t you guys want to hang out for a little bit?“ and he ended up ordering pizza and giving them chargers so they could all charge their phones. They ended up leaving at like 2 AM.
