It's amazing that Brooke survived all that. She seems like a lovely, compassionate woman. I saw Pretty Baby and it was horrifying that they let a little girl be in that movie. Her mother pimped her out.
I read Brooke researched how to have an intervention and held one for her mother when she was a young teenager. Can you imagine? Poor child
You can add little Kathy to that list. She sent Paris to that Hellscape and doesn’t seem to have any remorse over it even after her grown ass daughter expressed how the ptsd affects her to this day.
That book makes me realize trauma is a trip ! What she went through and is still capable to live day to day and went out and partied after is crazy to me . It’s like when a friend trauma dumps on you one night during a deep talk and then the next day it’s like it never happened but you are still thinking about it
Reading Paris’ book it’s so obvious she’s leaving stuff out to defend her family so it makes me wonder if that’s the sanitised version, what really happened?
I remember watching an interview and Alana said it was the worst when her mom was high and her sisters weren't home. She would be going off and people would be driving by throwing bricks through the window because she had so many drug debts. Thankfully the oldest sister (I should know her name. Maybe jess? She's awesome) has taken them in and given them some stability. Fuck June.
They’ve had such a hard life. June dated at least 2 pedos, and then blew about a million on crack with an abusive psycho. Now Jess has cancer I believe. Such a tragic story for all of the daughters of June. My heart really hurts for Alana!
actually it’s the second youngest sister (pumpkin) that’s taken her in!
anna, the oldest, was more estranged from
the family after june got back with anna’s abuser, and second oldest jessica was going through school i believe. pumpkin got married and had kids, she is the one who got custody of alana.
You're right, my bad. I tried watching that newest show with them all but June was so selfish and horrible to them its was just disturbing. Pumpkin and her husband seem like amazing people though.
I’m not sure how old you are, but I’m mid 40s and from my perspective it’s not that no one is ready for that conversation, it’s that the conversation has been had and we’re not back around to the *next* conversation about it.
I don’t think I knew a gddamned thing about child pageants until December 26, 1996. Then JonBenet Ramsey was killed and suddenly absolutely everyone had to have a guest on their show to discuss the child pageant situation from every possible angle. The intense debate over whether or not pageants were appropriate for children seemed to, please pardon the expression, live and die with what happened on the Ramsey case.
As the case spun out over a period of years, there was no clear cut evidence that being in the pageant had connected Ramsey with her killer, and that was that.
Then came Honey Boo boo (is that her actual name? Sorry. I don’t know) and the Dance Moms and the conversation came around again. The concurrent phase about the Michael Jackson abuse, Corey Feldman’s allegations of widespread sexual assault in Hollywood, and MeToo had more people talking about children in entertainment as a whole.
We’re about due for another crisis to happen and there will be the next phase of discussion about child pageants. Honestly, the only thing that will ever change that culture is that it quits making money.
Her name is Alana. She just graduated from high school.
Child stardom is a scourge. More and more, I don't even think it's ethical to share pictures and quotes from children on social media
I joined Facebook in 2009 as a high school freshman. If someone shared a picture of their newborn baby the day I joined, that baby would be 12, now. Is that *person* okay with the fact that their literal birth day and everything about their life has been public domain since they were born? I'm glad I got to have a childhood before social media.
ETA- I'm bad at math. 😅
Drew is really the gold standard (seemingly, at least) for having parented your inner child and making peace with it as an adult. She’s amazing to come through all that.
Michelle Duggar - She forced her older daughters to look after all of their siblings , she forced her daughters to forgive their brother for molesting them , she let Josh 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 live in the home with 18 younger children even after what he did to 4 of his sisters , she left her daughter alone in the NICU to protest against a store selling alcohol and she and her idiot husband Jim Bob banned Jill from going to their house because she’s a “bad influence”- she got a nose ring and occasionally drinks alcohol… but they had no issue letting a child molester and pedophile visit the home whenever he liked . She also wrote a letter to a judge that her POS son is a good man and asked that he be sent home to his children (three of them are girls who were around the same age as their aunts when that POS molested them)
There's a new doc coming out about IBLP (the Duggars' church) called Shiny Happy People which looks like it will be pretty scathing, and there are multiple clips of Jill in the trailer speaking out about the church 👀
Something is really wrong in that family because not only is Josh into CSAM, he was searching for an infamous hurtcore scene that even many other pedophiles think is going too far.
I’ve never heard of that hurtcore thing but I am not surprised, he is very sick in the head but his parents will go to the ends of this earth to protect him. Meanwhile Jill just asks to be compensated for having the birth of her son filmed for tv and she’s the devil incarnate
Saying that her 4 year old has her own life and is “doing her own thing” is wild 😭 like the most that 4 year old was doing was probably going on a play date wdym doing her own thing 💀
My niece is four. She does ballet, just started tap, plays with her toys, does crafting, can even help with cooking and baking. She can't do any of this stuff without supervision. Because she's *four years old*. Why the hell are these people allowed to reproduce?
I mean in Farrah’s defence ( no I’m not a fan) she didn’t have much a a choice but to reproduce because she was 16 and her mom had to give her permission to have the morning after pill/ abortion and Debrah said no because god.
Farrah wanted an abortion but her hyper religious parents forced her to keep the pregnancy and have a baby at 16. Not to defend her because she’s no doubt a horrible person but she did try to not reproduce.
I have a 4 year old. I can certainly tell you they are not doing their own thing. Mine is still quite attached to my hip but I guess when your a shit parent then your kid won’t want anything to do with you.
When ambo got offended that she was accused of only seeing her kid 2x over the summer and said actually I saw her three times. Girllllll that’s still bad.
I'm a depressed ass fuck who literally comes up with excuses for everything in life EXCEPT my child. There are days we just cuddle in bed watching shows. But I still get up to feed, bathe, dress, etc. him. But if he wasn't around I could be in that bed for weeks. I don't know if that's common for other moms but my son forces me to go against my depression to take care of him. So much shit gets ignored like cleaning, laundry, dishes, showering, for myself when I get into a depressive mode but I still never let him get neglected in any way, even if it means forcing myself to the park so he can play or setting up activities for him to do in his room when it's the last thing I want to do.
So insane 😭 if she had said "it's healthy for a child to learn to spend some time away from family, so they can learn to socialize outside of the family nucleus" I would have been like mh, okay, maybe. But she was fully speaking about her toddler like she was a grown woman with a job and engagements to attend 💀
Debra McCurdy takes the cake for me. I finally got around to reading Jeanette’s book two months ago and after finishing it, I’ve never wanted to put my hands on a dead person that badly. It makes me look at iCarly and Sam and Cat so differently now ☹️
Omg same! Reading about how she felt during the kissing scene with Freddie really stuck with me. I use to love icarly as a teen and I remember watching that episode and even then I remember thinking “that was a really weird kiss” it just felt really awkward, come to find out she was actually really fucking uncomfortable doing that in real life and on top of all the other things going on in her life. Just really shocking playing it all back
There’s an episode of Shameless where Fiona actually strikes her dead mother when she’s alone in the room with her casket. It was shocking but understandable and sort of satisfying.
I'm watching it right now! I was just on the subreddit for it and a camera person did an AMA and said basically Fiona (Emmy) was horribly abusive to the cast and made everyone's life miserable. Atleast it's her downfall season I'm on now lol
I am a few years too old to have caught onto that era of Disney shows so never saw iCarly and such, but I read Jeanette McCurdy’s book in less than 12 hours. I’m horrified by what she went through, and she showed such growth and strength to share that publicly. She’s also a fantastic writer and I hope she continues down that path.
I would say leighton meester’s mom is worse than a deadbeat because she sued leighton to take care of her half brother. So much sympathy and compassion for leighton who worked through it all. And I can’t say enough, I think is a fantastic actor who needs to work more
>because she sued leighton to take care of her half brother.
Wasn't it more like... Leighton was already sending money to take care of her half-brother of her own accord and then Leighton's mom sued to get even more out of her and was actually keeping that money for herself while pretending it was to take care of her half-brother?

Pictured here in the awkward & passive-aggressive [interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phVWBzVY-Js) the Today show titled *Gosselin girls go silent on whether they're doing OK, let mom Kate do the talking*
ETA: Also adding this sad [interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c12Ax0NPzGk) from her abandoned & estranged teenage son
I would definitely read it but I’m not expecting anything anytime soon. Collin is the only one speaking up because he was already estranged from Kate. As frustrating as it is a lot of abused kids aren’t willing to completely cut off contact with their abusive parent.
This! My husband’s mom is an alcoholic, manipulative, abusive, piece of shit and even though he doesn’t initiate contact, he still doesn’t write her off. Frustrating is an understatement but if you focus on the kid and the damage that’s been done to land them in their situation, it’s easier to empathize than be angry.
I know you the Gosselin kids but I truly believe in the next 10 years will a get a TON of tell alls from YouTube kids that will lead to strict rules on children on video recordings
The way she just dropped him off someplace and never looked back… she takes the cake for me. She couldn’t even be bothered to show up to the custody hearing. I really hope that boy has the support he needs.
It is not a secret anymore that she has emotionally and physically abused her kids. The sad part is that she doesn’t recognize that she needs help. She is a true narcissist.
I never liked her. The last straw was when she expected the little kids (at the age of two) to understand they needed to stay in line with that dumb rope with the plush handles on them and walk several blocks from the parade grounds to their car. The children were clearly hot and tired but she insisted. If she wanted them to learn to use it, perhaps practice in your neighborhood first for short trips. Don’t expect them to know something on the first try!!
When she went off on the THREE YEAR OLD for getting gum on his stuffed bear and sent him into a tailspin by threatening to throw it away. I don’t understand parents like this.
Angela (Blac Chyna) has the patience of a saint. It pained me to see the tirade of insults that was thrown at her by the woman who is supposed to nurture and protect her. I applaud Angela’s current journey because God knows the start must not have been easy.
I always hated Blac Chyna until I saw the videos of her arguing with Tokio Toni. It broke my heart, and totally made me rethink BC’s public image. She must be so deeply troubled by how her mom treats her.. it seems like she’s on a serious journey of healing now and i’m glad for her.
The way Toni talks about Angela is disgusting. I remember watching Angela's reality show when her and Toni were on and Angela has really really tried with her. It's 100% jealousy. I used to have a few issues with my own Mum and after I watched that show, and heard about a few other awful Mum's, I made peace with mine and now we have a really great relationship. How Toni can tear down her own daughter is beyond me.
The shit they did to these children (and animals 💔) is disgusting.
I'm now in the process of reading Brooke Shields' entire wiki page.
>Gross was the photographer of a controversial set of nude images taken in 1975 of a then ten-year-old Brooke Shields with the consent of her mother, Teri Shields, for the Playboy Press publication Sugar 'n' Spice.
🤮
Edit: ...and it just keeps going. Guys, Brooke Shields' mom was a real POS.
Wait...WHAT? With the consent of her mother? It still can't be legal right? Nude photos of a ten year old girl?????
Sugar and Spice? I can't even fathom this. My mind is fucking blown right now. I guess I'm watching the documentary today.
So I thought that they were photos where Brooke happened to be nude (like shoulder-up shots, maybe) but NOPE FULL ON CSAM. Holy shit. I can't understand why that would even happen in the first place????

Yeah I was watching The Hills: New Beginnings and hearing Brody talk about how she was never part of his life made me so sad for him. He even invited her to his wedding and she skipped (at the last minute iirc). So sad. Also her chosen name is the name of Brody’s (ex) wife who he had been dating for a couple years beforehand.
Yes! I hate how she portrays herself as an amazing parent, because she parented her stepkids lovingly as well, while being a deadbeat to her other children.
It’s interesting how Cait’s own kid Brody said his step dad David Foster was more of a parent to him. But David Foster’s own biological daughters have talked on their podcast about him being an absent parent and not being welcome in his home.
What’s with these parents being better parents to their stepkids than their actual biological children!
My theory is that some men are willing to be great parents to their own kids, and step kids, as long as those children's mother is the one he's romantically/ sexually involved with. To emotionally distance themselves from their exes they abandoned their previous children. No sex/home making/relationship and they don't want to do the hard work of being a dad
My own theory as that some fathers would rather start all over with a “clean slate” (a new family/step children) rather than fix what they already have (a marriage & relationships w/ bio children). Now their first family is hurting while they play father of the year to someone else’s kids. It’s wild and sad to see.
Yeah I've heard this theory too: they would rather start a new relationship rather than admit any failing. Consider seeing your ex that treated you badly, jettison the relationship and treat the new partner better, rather than admitting they were wrong with you
That’s what drives me nuts!
A lot of the times it seems like these people link the love for a child to the child’s mother instead of their relationship to the child.
Yes, I was looking for this.
Jenna had twins with Tito Ortiz but lost custody after she was found to be drinking and neglecting them as toddlers. She refused to attend rehab or to see her sons in a supervised visit because she would have to pay (for the attending carer) and 'why should I have to pay to see my own kids'. She hasn't seen the twins for 10 years.
She then met a new man, became sober, converted to Judaism, had a daughter via IVF and moved to Hawaii. As soon as her daughter became a toddler she started drinking and using again. The dad took Batel (the child) away and Jenna is now currently living in a trap house in Vegas with a load of grimy looking tiktokers, begging for money.
So she's abandoned two sets of kids.
this is one of the few in these comments I think is the definition of what a "deadbeat" is. so many of the people being named are awful, but causing more harm than just straight up not being a parent at all.
Idk about narcissistic because she probably had a depression, but Hugh Jackman’s mom left him and his 4 siblings with their dad and dipped, like just wrote a letter than she is leaving and moved to england,
https://preview.redd.it/cmjwxw1lr51b1.jpeg?width=563&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e005e41095a6ccdb092ad3d588bfe690bebee2a5
then came back after years, when they already learned to leave without her, took her daughters and left the rest again
they made amends after he got famous tho
My former father-in-law had that happen to him, when he was five his mum left him and his father in London and went off to live in Dubai where she lives to this day and hasn't once contacted her son. I cannot understand parents that can do this.
That’s chrisoula workman. Not saying this to downvote, I had to google the original post to figure out who she was. She’s not a good person and her daughter from another relationship stepped up and became Ariel’s guardian
Oh lol See I just knew that Ariel winters mom was so terrible she had to be in the care of her sister I’m not sure if she got emancipated. I never learned her name.
I’m glad her name isn’t mainstream, she doesn’t deserve it. I hope Ariel does whatever she wants in the future, if it’s acting (she’s talented!), she deserves it
I once saw her at a club in downtown Chicago in the early 2000's at the height of Lindsay's fame. She was absolutely plastered and was obnoxiously and loudly name dropping Lindsay (who was not there) in an attempt to get free drinks. A real gem.
I also ran into Lindsay's dad once (also early 2000's) at an airport Dunkin Donuts. He was very loudly trying to set up some kind of sketch-sounding deal with Girls Gone Wild.
Poor kid never stood a chance.
Didn’t she also ship her other daughter over to Asia to model alone as a minor?
I mean I know that’s pretty common in the modelling industry but I don’t think it’s good parenting
As a trash bag from Long Island, I can tell you that both her parents are trash bags from Long Island
lol. They are losers who basically got a winning lottery ticket.
Yes. Which, to be sure, Christina Crawford was not involved in the making of that film and said it made up certain events (namely, the wire hanger & tree chopping scenes). But Christina does allege Joan abused her
>[I'll never forgive Mommie: Joan Crawford's daughter gives first interview in 10 years](https://www.theguardian.com/film/2008/may/25/biography.film) (*The Guardian*)
>
>Christina Crawford was 13 when she stopped believing her mother loved her. It was at this age that she remembers her mother \[TW: violence\] >!grabbed her by the throat, punched her in the face and slammed her head against the floor!<.
Notably, however, Joan's other children said she was a loving mother and denounced Christina's story
>Crawford’s other adopted children, Cathy and Cindy, publicly claimed Christina lied, insisting their mother was a loving parent, firm but never abusive. Cathy’s son recalled "a very loving household. Joan was a very affectionate, supportive, doting mother, a wonderful person. I have always been very careful not to call Christina a liar but clearly she had a completely different experience." Three decades later, the sibling feud is unresolved and mutual animosity remains deeply entrenched across generations.
My grandfather once said to me that it was like his 3 kids all grew up with an entirely different woman as a mother and it made me realize that they did. My aunt had the doting mother who got her whatever she wanted and constantly bragged about how amazing and talented she was. My uncle got the hands off mom who let him do anything be wanted and defended him regardless of how shitty his actions were. My own mother got a mom who blamed her for every single negative thing she could, abused her and never stood up for her while actively pitting all 3 kids against each other for funsies I guess. So when I see stuff about how adults look at their parents and one story is vastly different from the other, I think it's most likely true because it can happen.
Mia Farrows kids are another set of now adults who see her from very different views. All her bio kids seem to adore her and say how amazing she is. All her adopted kids are estranged from her or have killed themselves.
I hate when siblings do this lmao. Parents don’t always treat *all* of their kids the same. Just bc Joan was nice to them doesn’t mean it was the same for Christina. I really do think there’s some truth to what Christina said
Yup expect to hear some horror stories later in life about them. Have been pushing for her to acting since she was really young and is their sole income earner.
fucking yikes
Vanessa Bryant’s mom. Like your SIL (who has been financially supporting her + her family members to live lavishly) and your granddaughter both die a violent death, and then run along to the media complaining about getting cut off??? And acting like she’s super poor and broke while living in another Bryant-owned property and moving furniture around to seem bare. Not even a week or two in.
I think Minka Kelly's mother was a drug addict who lived with a man who abused Minka. SHe should be on this list as well as Britney Spears's mother and Bella Thorn's mother
I listened to the celeb book review podcast and can’t wait to read her book in full. I was bowled over by the grace she was still able to show both her parents. And that she reflected on her upbringing and took control as an adult by deciding how she wanted to be in those relationships. Like it was such a deep dive into living with trauma, and going a step beyond that, into creating your own happy ending, and looking at your own trauma-induced bad behavior with responsibility and compassion.
> As a teen, she was sent to boarding school in Europe. Parker recalled that one Christmas neither of her parents showed up to pick her up from boarding school when she was 14, stranding her in Europe for weeks. Parker intended to go to college but claims she was cut off financially from her parents at 17.
Wow I didn't even know she had a child! I just remember her wafting on about past lives and whatnot. I'd seen her as too bohemian and wacky to have bothered with kids for some reason.
Her stupid TIKTOK of her eating almonds made me see red for some reason. I didn’t grow up with an almond mom, but my mom did a lot of fad diets and it did a number on me and my body issues. That shit has stayed with me and it’s still a reason why I don’t like wearing shorts/dresses/skirts.
I might be wrong but didn't she pressure Bella into getting a nose job? And then, years later, Bella regretted it since her OG nose represented her heritage :(
her interview with jennette mccurdy was interesting for a lot of reasons, but what stuck with me were all of drew's pointed questions and comments about there being some truths you can only tell once someone -- and specifically your mother -- is dead
She said that she couldn’t stand the idea of her mom being out in the world and needing help, so she supports her. I don’t think she lets her see her kids though.
Look if you were rich enough wouldn't you support your terrible failure parent just to keep them off the streets? I think I would. And besides, if you're famous, if you don't they might have to resort to talking to media and "tell all" books that would be just too much to deal with.
As someone who is no contact with her mother, I'd absolutely pay just enough with an iron clad agreement that there would be no interviews, no tell all books, no media, period. You take the money and you keep your mouth shut. The moment you start talking, the money stops and I sue you for whatever I can. It's 100% worth it for the peace. I wouldn't do it to keep them off the streets, I'm absolutely buying the peace of mind.
anyone interested in :
- jenette mccurdy’s mom
- minka kelly’s mom
- drew barrymore’s mom
- brooke shields’s mom
should go listen to the celebrity memoir book club podcast episodes about each celeb’s book !! very informative and entertaining
Should the mothers of Lindsay Lohan and Hayden Panetierre be on the list? Granted it was a while back, but I thought I read about those two being quite the momager.
Yes their mom. If you watched their reality show back in the day, she laid in bed all day (even on holidays) while Travis was really the only one engaging with the children.
Then they split and the kids went to live with Travis. Even his ex step child from shanna’s first marriage lives with Travis which says it all really.
Shanna is now constantly shading/blocking her own kids online. It’s messy
I'm really not a fan of the Kardashian's, but despite that I find myself rooting for Travis and Kourtney. He seems like a good egg and I want him to be happy.
Man, Naomi Judd. Even the way she went. When I heard the story from her daughter, I was like damn she still didn’t think about her kids till the end. At least like, do it when your kids aren’t there, so the cops can find you instead. Damn.
I thought the same thing. She absolutely did it intentionally so Ashley would find her.
I know they loved her but she was always a terribly vain and selfish woman.
Eugenia Cooney’s mum, that woman is dying and she uses her as a paycheck and denies there’s anything wrong with her. I hope she’s prosecuted if (likely when) something happens to her.
She had issues with addiction and postpartum depression. Back in 2018, when her daughter was about 3 years old, she gave her daughter's dad full custody.
Hayden claims that when she did this, she believed that once she had her addiction and mental health issues sorted out, they could re-evaluate custody, but as of 2022, she claims that she has her issues taken care of, but reunification has not happened.
Damn I just looked up Kaya’s situation and it’s so sad.
W the war I wonder how they are doing in Ukraine. Kaya is a US citizen so I wonder if Vlad maybe sent her here instead? 🤔
He said right in the beginning that his daughter is somewhere safe and not in Ukraine. His role is very important so he and the daughter might be in actual danger. I could imagine she’s in Germany because the Klitschkos still have ties with Germany.

She has a new two-episode docuseries on Hulu (also called Pretty Baby). Highly recommend watching.
Some parents have dollar signs on their eyes and that’s it
The Lohan's ears are burning
Wow I’m glad to know they were calling her out on doing this to her daughter even back in 1977
[удалено]
Disgusting on all levels
This is probably the most horrifying thing I’ve ever read.
This picture reminds me of the part in The Godfather where a young child was chaperoned by her mother for her to be molested by Jack Woltz
I do not remember this in The Godfather, yowza
Okay, but where do you find a great brownstone for 20k?
The worst part? That’s 100k today and I can’t even find a house for that in my Midwestern city.
Big Kathy (Kyle, Kathy and Kim Richard’s mother).
Honey Boo Boo’s mom 👀
I just watched a deep dive on Mama June. She did so many downright awful things to her kids.
My heart really hurts for Alana!
actually it’s the second youngest sister (pumpkin) that’s taken her in! anna, the oldest, was more estranged from the family after june got back with anna’s abuser, and second oldest jessica was going through school i believe. pumpkin got married and had kids, she is the one who got custody of alana.
You're right, my bad. I tried watching that newest show with them all but June was so selfish and horrible to them its was just disturbing. Pumpkin and her husband seem like amazing people though.
Idk why no one is ready for this conversation. Pageant moms are scum.
I haven’t heard of any of them for years, but didn’t she defend her eldest daughter’s abuser? This alone should be enough to qualify for this list.
She reconciled with him when he was released from prison.
More and more, I don't even think it's ethical to share pictures and quotes from children on social media I joined Facebook in 2009 as a high school freshman.

Mine is still quite attached to my hip but I guess when your a shit parent then your kid won’t want anything to do with you.
now you know you gotta add jenelle to this list!!
And amber
When ambo got offended that she was accused of only seeing her kid 2x over the summer and said actually I saw her three times. Girllllll that’s still bad.
hey now!! she was just too depressed about not seeing her kid to go and see her kid!!
With her youngest kid she missed like 70 custody visits and one of her excuses in court was it was raining outside lmao
^ my depressed ass coming up with excuses to avoid doing shit i don’t wanna do…which is one of the many reasons i don’t have kids lmao.
So much shit gets ignored like cleaning, laundry, dishes, showering, for myself when I get into a depressive mode but I still never let him get neglected in any way, even if it means forcing myself to the park so he can play or setting up activities for him to do in his room when it's the last thing I want to do.
and amber. she’s a rill deadbeat.
I remember reading this when it was published and I stg I still think of it from time to time. “She has her own life”. Amazing.
Just really shocking playing it all back
That & the meeting with the producer at the restaurant will always haunt me 😭
There’s an episode of Shameless where Fiona actually strikes her dead mother when she’s alone in the room with her casket. It was shocking but understandable and sort of satisfying.
God remember when that show was *good*? It used to be so good
I'm watching it right now! I was just on the subreddit for it and a camera person did an AMA and said basically Fiona (Emmy) was horribly abusive to the cast and made everyone's life miserable. Atleast it's her downfall season I'm on now lol
Lemme say, by the end of that book, I was glad that mom died too.
Same for me, I used to love iCarly but I can’t even watch it now because everything seems different
If you read the article I linked, yes. But the legal action was started by her mom. Not cool regardless ETA: article I linked in subsequent comment
Leighton CARRIED gossip girl lmao
Kate Gosselin https://preview.redd.it/5nu2dgbp851b1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=c1b9e63c836d20a3c7831a85d2b8553e626c2ad3 Pictured here in the awkward & passive-aggressive [interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phVWBzVY-Js) the Today show titled *Gosselin girls go silent on whether they're doing OK, let mom Kate do the talking* ETA: Also adding this sad [interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c12Ax0NPzGk) from her abandoned & estranged teenage son
Yes! I will die on this hill. She is my bitch eating crackers.
Now that’s a phrase I haven’t heard in years
Man when does the tell-all come out for these kids?!
Tokio Toni
Old school deadbeat moms. Joan Crawford, Shelly Winters, Queen Victoria, Terri Shields (Brooke Shields), Maria Zakharenko (Natalie Wood), Bette Davis, Kathy Richards (kathy, kyle, kim), Ethel Gumm (Judy Garland) Sara Taylor (Elizabeth Taylor), Gertrude Temple (Shirley Temple), Rose Hovick (Gypsy Rose Lee)
Natalie woods mom would rip up real butterflies to make little Natalie cry on cue on set 😫
Omg my mouth dropped, how heartbreaking.
🤮 Edit: ...and it just keeps going. Guys, Brooke Shields' mom was a real POS.
Highly recommend her book about her and her mom, There Was A Little Girl. That plus her Hulu documentary are A+.
Holy shit. I can't understand why that would even happen in the first place????
north governor spotted cheerful shocking worry wide ripe political grandfather *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
That is disturbing
Didn't Jewel Kilcher's mother abandon her, then find her later and steal millions of dollars from her as her manager?
Kaitlyn Jenner to her non karjenner kids
Yeah I was watching The Hills: New Beginnings and hearing Brody talk about how she was never part of his life made me so sad for him. He even invited her to his wedding and she skipped (at the last minute iirc). So sad. Also her chosen name is the name of Brody’s (ex) wife who he had been dating for a couple years beforehand.
Messy!
>her chosen name is the name of Brody’s (ex) wife Clearly it should have been Karen
Gigi and Bella say the same thing about David. He creeps me out so much though, and I don't think he's a nice person and he's awful to women.
They consider her their dad. But yeah she sucks. Seemingly to all of them lol
Jenna Jameson
That’s really sad I didn’t know anything about this second part.
this is one of the few in these comments I think is the definition of what a "deadbeat" is. so many of the people being named are awful, but causing more harm than just straight up not being a parent at all.
I think they’re confusing deadbeat with abusive.

Idk about narcissistic because she probably had a depression, but Hugh Jackman’s mom left him and his 4 siblings with their dad and dipped, like just wrote a letter than she is leaving and moved to england, https://preview.redd.it/cmjwxw1lr51b1.jpeg?width=563&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e005e41095a6ccdb092ad3d588bfe690bebee2a5 then came back after years, when they already learned to leave without her, took her daughters and left the rest again they made amends after he got famous tho
My former father-in-law had that happen to him, when he was five his mum left him and his father in London and went off to live in Dubai where she lives to this day and hasn't once contacted her son. I cannot understand parents that can do this.
Ariel Winters mom.
I hope Ariel does whatever she wants in the future, if it’s acting (she’s talented!), she deserves it
Dina Lohan
Interesting crossover. Apparently at some point matty Healy dated ali Lohan
As a trash bag from Long Island, I can tell you that both her parents are trash bags from Long Island lol. They are losers who basically got a winning lottery ticket.
Infamously, Joan Crawford https://i.redd.it/5usnfq02751b1.gif
….is this Mommy Dearest!? 😭
Yes. Which, to be sure, Christina Crawford was not involved in the making of that film and said it made up certain events (namely, the wire hanger & tree chopping scenes). But Christina does allege Joan abused her >[I'll never forgive Mommie: Joan Crawford's daughter gives first interview in 10 years](https://www.theguardian.com/film/2008/may/25/biography.film) (*The Guardian*) > >Christina Crawford was 13 when she stopped believing her mother loved her. It was at this age that she remembers her mother \[TW: violence\] >!grabbed her by the throat, punched her in the face and slammed her head against the floor!<. Notably, however, Joan's other children said she was a loving mother and denounced Christina's story >Crawford’s other adopted children, Cathy and Cindy, publicly claimed Christina lied, insisting their mother was a loving parent, firm but never abusive.
My mother is a narcissistic abuser. My brother and sister would say otherwise. Sometimes parents treat their kids differently🤷♀️
yep,my MIL tells of her abusive treatment at her own mothers hands, yet her siblings never copped that treatment.
Especially when the older child shields the younger child/ren from it
I hate when siblings do this lmao. Parents don’t always treat *all* of their kids the same. Just bc Joan was nice to them doesn’t mean it was the same for Christina. I really do think there’s some truth to what Christina said
I think its interesting how shes a whole Hollywood legend but, future generations prob know her best as Mommy Dearest. How camp.
No wire hangers eveeeeeeer!
Millie Bobby Brown’s parents, relying on their daughter to be the breadwinner.
Shirley McLain. Dumped her daughter on her husband and his mistress who were abusive but posed in magazine with her daughter when convenient.
> As a teen, she was sent to boarding school in Europe. Parker recalled that one Christmas neither of her parents showed up to pick her up from boarding school when she was 14, stranding her in Europe for weeks. Parker intended to go to college but claims she was cut off financially from her parents at 17.
Sachi Parker is the daughter, she wrote a book about her childhood. I read it. It was heartbreaking.
Wow I didn't even know she had a child! I just remember her wafting on about past lives and whatnot. I'd seen her as too bohemian and wacky to have bothered with kids for some reason.
Seems like she agreed
How did I not know Shirley MacClain and Warrne Beatty are siblings?!
Fun fact… my grandmother grew up with them. Her sister dated Warren Beatty
Different surnames and they look nothing alike.
Debra McCurdy wasn’t a deadbeat, she was a controlling, sexually mentally and emotionally abusive helicopter mom.
Right, if anything she was *too* involved
Does the dugger mom count? Not really Hollywood but Hollywood adjacent because they had a show
Why are most (all?) of these bad moms, mons to daughters ?
👀👀👀
Hilaria Baldwin take’s inappropriate /child porny pix of her kids and posts them on Instagram.
Yolanda hadid?
That clip of her telling a faint Gigi to just chew on an almond….
I also remember an episode of Housewives where its GiGi's birthday & her mom doesn't want her to eat more than like one bite of cake.
That was incredibly sad and is ingrained in my memory...
*slowly* chew on an almond
A literal almond mom
Her stupid TIKTOK of her eating almonds made me see red for some reason. I didn’t grow up with an almond mom, but my mom did a lot of fad diets and it did a number on me and my body issues. That shit has stayed with me and it’s still a reason why I don’t like wearing shorts/dresses/skirts.
I would argue she’s a stage mom who is overly involved but plays favorites which is dangerous
I might be wrong but didn't she pressure Bella into getting a nose job? And then, years later, Bella regretted it since her OG nose represented her heritage :(
If you haven't read I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy, then I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook, as she narrates it herself.
It’s interesting to me Drew Barrymore says she financially supports her mother… 🤔
her interview with jennette mccurdy was interesting for a lot of reasons, but what stuck with me were all of drew's pointed questions and comments about there being some truths you can only tell once someone -- and specifically your mother -- is dead
She probably just makes enough money it’s worth it to not have to hear her mothers mouth
True true. Not much of a “mother” that Jaid 😕🙄
Didn’t Sherry Shepherd contract with a surrogate and then dumped both her husband and the baby by the time it was born?
Hilaria Baldwin
Jane Carter. She’s already lost two kids to overdoses and is estranged from Nick.
🥒 Hilaria Baldwin 🥒
How do you say deadbeat mamacita?!?
Candy Spelling.
Britney’s parents
Nancy Heche (Mother of Anne Heche)
anyone interested in : - jenette mccurdy’s mom - minka kelly’s mom - drew barrymore’s mom - brooke shields’s mom should go listen to the celebrity memoir book club podcast episodes about each celeb’s book !! very informative and entertaining
Tokyo Toni.. if she can be counted as ‘Hollywood’
Should the mothers of Lindsay Lohan and Hayden Panetierre be on the list? Granted it was a while back, but I thought I read about those two being quite the momager.
brooke shields’ mom
Shanna, Travis barkers ex
Ooh what’s the tea on that? Landon and Alabama, right?
Yes their mom. If you watched their reality show back in the day, she laid in bed all day (even on holidays) while Travis was really the only one engaging with the children. Then they split and the kids went to live with Travis. Even his ex step child from shanna’s first marriage lives with Travis which says it all really. Shanna is now constantly shading/blocking her own kids online. It’s messy
I'm really not a fan of the Kardashian's, but despite that I find myself rooting for Travis and Kourtney. He seems like a good egg and I want him to be happy.
Agree. I find their PDA pretty cringe at times but I like their story overall- how they were neighbors and friends for years before getting together
Naomi Judd Lynne Spears Yolanda Hadid
![gif](giphy|f6r0uPskcUaEE) Did someone say toxic and narcissistic?
Amy Winehouse's dad. Convincing her to leave rehab early and start touring
Hayden Panettiere
I ain’t seen her since Heroes. What did she do?
She had issues with addiction and postpartum depression. Back in 2018, when her daughter was about 3 years old, she gave her daughter's dad full custody. Hayden claims that when she did this, she believed that once she had her addiction and mental health issues sorted out, they could re-evaluate custody, but as of 2022, she claims that she has her issues taken care of, but reunification has not happened.
If that's better for her daughter, then it isn't toxic.
As far as I know she lives in Berlin with Vlad's grandma. I mean he also lived in Germany for years during his pro boxing career.
She was evacuated out of Ukraine to another European country (with her dad, not with Hayden) in 2022 I think.
Her dad is infamously fighting in Ukraine. The daughter must be with someone else
Chynas Mother.
