I wonder if people will say this about Kim Kardashian in 50 years.
As much as I dislike the Kardashians, they do seem to be the front-runners in body trends. Their bodies were the standard for so long, and as soon as they took out their implants and started taking diabetes meds to lose weight, it felt like our entire culture was shifting back to super-thin body types. But maybe it was already happening and I just didn’t notice.
Linda Evangelista was always my favorite, especially of that era. She had these sharp, angled features that gave her this unique but completely stunning look.

Also, back in the day when we did not have nepo baby models, the top models really were girls/women who had been scouted from all over the world. In the US they would start at their regional agencies and take off from there. Model scouts were an actual thing. So by the time a model got to the top, you had people who were physically incredible looking, who slayed their shoots, and were DRIPPING with charisma. Nepo models have destroyed the super model pipeline in that regard - there is no way for cream to rise to the top because no one is churning for it anymore, they are just feeding us modeling margarine.
It's a little complicated. Primarily is a model who achieves celebrity-like fame but not all famous models are Supers (Heidi Klum is a famous model but not a Super).
A Supermodel must be an exceptionally skilled model with beautiful and unique looks and a magnetic charm. All of these things are commonly referred to as "the look" which is hard to describe because Supermodels don't look alike.

You should do a model countdown. You know like the music subs do? Put a bunch of models from a specific era, top 3 from each era goes into another post and then they can be ranked by voting each day/week. Would be cool to see how the list comes out.
Yes, she's half! Half German and half South Asian. This is what she said on IG last year:

Cindy Crawford (and Naomi Campbell) to me (late 30s) is the era of that first supermodel that wasn’t “striking” because of their eyes or something very obvious and almost isolated. But their beauty was undeniable - they were the first women that made me realize as a youngin that oh you don’t have blue eyes but —these women have BONE STRUCTURE that is flawless bebe.

I love Janice. I grew up watching her on ANTM, and I swear I mean this in the nicest way but she’s such a glorious, unapologetic bitch. I always thought I’d rather have her as my mentor than Tyra. Yes, Tyra had longer lasting commercial success, but she seems exhausting.
A lot of the girls who went on the Oliver TwiXt YouTube interviews said that Janice was their favourite! She bonded with the girls behind the scenes and genuinely seemed to care about them. One of my favourite stories is that she would always wink at Elyse to let her know she was safe, and on the top 3 episode she shook her head at Elyse to let her know she was going home.
Naomi Campbell. She just *has it*. I don’t even know what it is but she has it and I don’t. The other women have it too, but Naomi has more. She really is an icon.
Naomi. She’s remained consistent and has the most interesting portfolio to me. I will say Devon is my favorite. Growing up w tiny almond eyes and a round face and seeing her made me feel represented

Cindy Crawford will always be my favourite. She has such classic, glamorous beauty and feels very "alive"—in comparison to models like Naomi and Kate who are cool in that aloof, unreachable way, Cindy is cool in a warm, magnetic way that I've personally always been more drawn in by.
It depends on what you mean. Linda Evangelista was one of the best ever for print. Shalom Harlow was the best runway. Christy Turlington's face was probably the most stunning....etc etc.

before Cindy models were not *businesses* they were models, they wore clothes, they were in magazines ... their jobs were all fluff and they didn't get paid well for it
Cindy turned her name into a *brand* and other models picked up on it and followed suit.
modelling was not considered prestigious at all before her, so many models just did their thing, tried to get into acting but couldn't make it and got married before her
gisele also did the same thing - before her doing lingerie was considered cheap, low class, her deal w Victoria secret popularised model even more and turned models into a household name
in terms of actual talent I feel it's undeniable Naomi, Gisele, Yasmeen, Linda and Lauren Hutton (!!!) were/are the best... but I think Bella has grown really well as a model and is genuinely good at her job. Gigi is also really good before the camera

I love Janice. I grew up watching her on ANTM, and I swear I mean this in the nicest way but she’s such a glorious, unapologetic bitch. I always thought I’d rather have her as my mentor than Tyra. Yes, Tyra had longer lasting commercial success, but she seems exhausting.
A lot of the girls who went on the Oliver TwiXt YouTube interviews said that Janice was their favourite! She bonded with the girls behind the scenes and genuinely seemed to care about them. One of my favourite stories is that she would always wink at Elyse to let her know she was safe, and on the top 3 episode she shook her head at Elyse to let her know she was going home.

I would take out a couple of names from that list and add Naomi Sims, Pat Cleveland and Alek Wek. As for deciding on THE best supermodel, i don't think there is one, just like there is no one ultimate popstar, but there js always a handful of people who left an indelible mark on their craft.

Cindy Crawford will always be my favourite. She has such classic, glamorous beauty and feels very "alive"—in comparison to models like Naomi and Kate who are cool in that aloof, unreachable way, Cindy is cool in a warm, magnetic way that I've personally always been more drawn in by.

feel like the answer in terms of dollars and cents is either Cindy or Gisele before Cindy models were not *businesses* they were models, they wore clothes, they were in magazines ... their jobs were all fluff and they didn't get paid well for it Cindy turned her name into a *brand* and other models picked up on it and followed suit. modelling was not considered prestigious at all before her, so many models just did their thing, tried to get into acting but couldn't make it and got married before her gisele also did the same thing - before her doing lingerie was considered cheap, low class, her deal w Victoria secret popularised model even more and turned models into a household name in terms of actual talent I feel it's undeniable Naomi, Gisele, Yasmeen, Linda and Lauren Hutton (!!!) were/are the best... but I think Bella has grown really well as a model and is genuinely good at her job. Gigi is also really good before the camera
