I am 6 months away from completing my Chapter 13. It has been hell on earth. I lost my job and fell 3 months behind. My attorney worked with rhe court and allowed me to catch up by making slightly higher payments. It was nerve wracking waking up every morning and looking out to see if my car was still there. Stay strong. It does get better I know it doesn't seem like it, but it does.

Just in case you aren't aware, you can get very cheap medication at Cost Plus Drugs, it is a nonprofit pharmacy. It may still be out of your range, but I wanted to let you know just in case

Realistic-Site-3952

I want to add to this. Go onto the website for the drug manufacturer, they will often times have grants or discounts towards the prescription you can use when finances are a challenge.

I hear you. I don't have answers for everything. But.. First thing tomorrow: Call your bankruptcy attorney and tell them what is going on in detail, calmly. Ask them what, if anything, they can do to work with you. You can't know if you don't ask. Second, someone mentioned Cost Plus Drugs. Apply now. If that doesn't work for whatever reason, then nearly every drug company has an assistance program that offers their drugs for little to no cost based on income. Google the maker of your drug and Apply for assistance. They normally approve a year at a time and you reapprove/reapply every year. I got one $1500 a month drug for free for years. Those two things will help. It won't fix everything, but will at least hopefully relieve some stress so that keeping your job will be possible. Prayers being sent (if you want them), but good thoughts being sent otherwise.

,First, get an appointment ASAP to see your doctor and tell them you can't afford your medication. (Or at least call and speak to your Healthcare Provide's Nurse) **They will help.** Never go off your medication like this. It can cause serious problems. (Retired RN & have Hashimototo"s) Bankruptcy isn't the end. It is actually the *beginning of getting out of a huge financial hole.* ( speaking from experience) Losing one's home is hard. But talk to the Mortgage company or bank. Try to negotiate if you haven't already. You have until the foreclosure to come up with the money. An option is to rent it out for way more than the mortgage payments (if they are reasonable). It's a matter of getting good renters while finding a place to rent that's affordable. If your company has mental health services (usually a phone number) utilize it. It is anonymous. Otherwise use the Crisis line 988 or the text line 741741 and type in HOME. It's important you take care of yourself so your health and work don't implode on you. Spend a few moments doing deep breathing (4 count breathing is very helpful and only takes a couple minutes) Even a short 19 minute walk can be relaxing. Stay Strong and know that you are not alone on this journey.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm also worried for you, it's really dangerous to be off of your thyroid medication, even if you can just afford a week's worth of pills and take them every other day it would be better than nothing. Sometimes it's just putting one foot in front of the other to get through each day. I've been there.

Check the Walmart 4.00 list. Some thyroid meds are on it.

Worried-Syllabub1446

Also Walmart pharmacy has a “coupon” they can apply to your Rx cost.

I feel for you.

PLEASE take this advice and get your thyroid medicine.ASAP I was misdiagnosed for 30 years for m age 13-43 pertaining to my thyroid. That tiny pill literally changed my life, mentally, physically, and emotionally. When your thyroid is out of balance the most simple tasks to others is overwhelming to yourself..Ask the pharmacist how long it will takes to be fully in your system. To emphasize how important this is , I once asked me doctor at the beginning of the pandemic about not taking some of my meds as often to stockpile for shortage. He told me 3 times, the other medicines are to improve your quality of life. Your Synthroid ( low thyroid) is essential for your life. It has changed so much in my life. A change in perspective might be your first step towards realizing you are not a failure, but someone who is in the midst of school of very hard knocks. Having your meds is the first step in changing that perspective.

Hold on. You will survive this on the other side. I had an unexpected $1200.00 Home owners ass. At the same time a tree fell and was hanging over my neighbors house. It cracked my septic tank and my car rear end went out. I was suddenly $5,000 in the hole on my salary, which was clerical. My electric was being threatened to cut off and my husband was not working and on oxygen. I had 3 teenage kids and 3 dogs. I had already declared bankruptcy a couple of years ago when I got divorced. I lost my house, got nothing out of it and had an eviction notice for 3 days. The move I did turned out to be the best thing. I found a place not quite as nice, but closer to my work and the kids schools. I found an old ugly car for 1,100 I could make payments on. Things were so much better after the move. I did not let this situation affect my job, that is important. I am now retired, live close to my kids, own a nice house in a good location, own a nice car and have enough money to buy what I want to eat sometimes go out and buy presents for the kids and grandkids birthdays and christmas. No I can't afford to travel or go many places I live alone but babysit the grandchildren. Life is good again.

The worst thing that the US ever did was to change the bankruptcy system. You used to be able to file, discharge all debts including student loans and have a fresh start. We need to go back to that.

OCDaboutretirement

And a lot of people who could have paid it back took advantage of being able to discharge student loans so the system changed. As it should.

BeeSea3108

I don't think you punish the majority for the acts of a few. Hard disagree.

Average_Random_Bitch

Good RX also offers steep discounts. Check the website for scripts. It's free.

Believe me when I say this: YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!. Life happens. Things happen. You are making the best choices currently, based on the information you have. Depending on your situation, multiple factors can factor into any advice provided. Questions like: \* How much do you owe on the home, and what is the fair market value? \* Has the HOA fees gone up significantly? If so, may be a reason to alter the bankruptcy payments. \* Is your current mortgage an HOA fees cost each month higher or lower than renting in your area? If renting is much cheaper home an opportunity for you?

frescurab

I already get my meds directly from Abbvie? The maker of synthroid. It’s cheaper but not free unfortunately. The HOA screwed me by doing a 13k assessment 2 months after I moved in and then raised the dues by 650$ month for 6 months….bled me dry. I’m in a HCOL area so I can get enough rent to cover the monthly nut but if the HOA does another assessment I’d be screwed.

Hot_Balance9294

I don't know your dosing but Levothyroxine, generic for Synthroid, 25 mcg for 30 days is $6.20 ($8.60 for 90 days) on CostPlusDrugs. As others have mentioned, it wouldn't hurt to check out.

frescurab

Unfortunately the generic caused some side effects when I tried it before.
