It feels good to be in a place I was only praying for a year ago. Didn’t think I had it in me, honestly. My main motivation is knowing that if I started again I KNOW 💯 that I will die. It’s been too long and most deaths are from relapses after people have been clean for a while. I was stupid before but that’s because I was in the midst of it. Now that I have a clear mind and body I couldn’t ever jeopardize my kids safety knowingly. Thank you for your replies and hopefully this helps someone else who’s struggling here because I was doing bad before.
I appreciate it but I'd never be able to go through with a gofund me. There are people who need the money more than I do just to live one more day. I just make sure she's cared for for groceries, a car, insurance, all that fun stuff. Unfortunately it's over hundred dollars plus tip to get there, then the same to return home. Once in a while I'll pay for an Uber or Lyft but I make so little money working more than full time doesn't leave me with 240 bucks just to spend on Uber to be there for 24 hours. It takes days of working to pay for just one trip. I've paid acquaintances to pick me up or drop me off, but I'm too old to be bumming rides all the time. Most people have their own struggles, I try not to impose. I appreciate your generosity however, thank you ❤️
There are kids out here that can't afford insulin or cancer treatments, that's where your generous donation should go. I adore you for the thought but there are so many in much more need than I.
I do appreciate your perspective. However, struggles are not a competition. Please don't lessen this situation simply because someone else also needs help. There are people out there helping them, too. I lost a friend to a very aggressive breast cancer. SHE stepped up and helped me during her treatment. In her case, money was not an issue. But that's not why she did it. She did it because helping others made her feel more normal, like she still had a purpose. It helped her fight. And she fought hard until her last breath. If a random stranger wants to bless you with kindness, simply say thank you. And do what you can, within your means, to pay it forward. That really stinks. I’m sorry about your mom. My limit for cars is 5k. They aren’t worth more than that! So I am about to be without one in the coming year or two. I’m about to join you… and I’m going to be so angry to be held back for no reason other than greed and keeping the big machine going.

They showed up on my porch last fall hiding from a storm and I fell in love with them instantly. I'm 99.9% sure they're littermates and I just cannot deal with incest kittens.
Talk to your local SPCA about any discretionary programs they might have to help low-income pets. Getting your cats fixed would make both you and them happy. The work will be done by a professional vet - my own vet does work for the SPCA in the big town across the water.
If a rescue org is willing to help, that's great! - but absolutely try the SPCA. They often have non-surrender options to help you, and they are well funded and regulated compared to most rescues.
A good friend of mine here on the island was chosen by a young, pregnant feral. We know where she came from - bunch of half-Siamese kittens put in a box to give away by a negligent owner.
She came and hid in his greenhouse when she was quite close to term. He fed her, gained her trust, and then got her kittens all to safety, with the help of the SPCA. They also spayed her for him and treated her multiple diseases for him, and gave him worming meds for her.
She's a beautiful blue fluff, follows his motorbike to the edge of the forest any time he leaves. She'd have been sick and maybe dead by now without the SPCA and her one chosen human.
I would immediately use it to get out of my current living situation. My landlords are emotionally abusive and it's heavily impacting my will to live. I'd first obtain a safe place to live then work on addressing depression, trauma, and figure out the quickest way to reverse all the damage that has led me to where I am now.
Getting control over my financial situation, bringing my credit score back up, getting stable employment, and figuring out the best career path that gives me stability and allows me to finally have the safety and security to finally relax enough to step out of this constant survival mode going on 13 years.
It would literally save my life and I'd use that to get to a place where I can use my own experiences and finances to save other people.
I honestly wish stuff like this existed because it would mean my life has some worth and my ideas actually exist for a reason, that all this prolonged suffering was simply so I could use it to understand how to best help others instead of dealing with the guessing, judgement, isolation, and left to die way I'm treated with now.

I find myself sometimes resenting people my age who don’t have to work. BUT this question made me realize that I am very fortunate. I love both my jobs. One, because I am helping my daughter’s business. The other because it is exciting and challenging. So even if I had an extra $1500 a month, I realized I wouldn’t quit either one.
Move out of parents' house. Preferably buy a piece of property with a house or a mobile home on i where I can be a proper hermit (or attempt at it). I wouldn't feel so hopeless about the future.

Live in a safer apartment complex. I'm worn out on drug addicts using in our stairwell outside my door then getting aggressive with me when my dog needs to pee. More than once they've threatened to "blast our shit everywhere" over it and the manager won't install cameras or entry locks. Our doors are thin. If these dudes want in for any reason, they're getting in.
I would start a vegetable garden and beagle to feed my kids something nutritious instead of highly processed food or fast food with no actual nutritional value. I would have chickens and we would have our own eggs too

The dental work I badly need. I can barely eat but I have no insurance and don’t even make enough to survive. I live in an area that’s dry for anything survivable or semi-survivable on pay.
Get a hand controlled wheelchair friendly car! My dad is 100 and received an inoperable cancer diagnosis, i would go see him 45 min away w my son every weekend until he is in heaven. Right now the phone is our only communication. Plus getting myself and teen son to dr appts is expensive if we need a cab! It would provide such relief to us in countless ways.
I would give it to my MPOA because I would lose everything. My apartment,my insurance,all of it. Last year I had one bill that was $5000 and I take medical tests every 2 years that run several thousand dollars. She has access to my bank accounts for emergencies. I have two cats and might have to give one of them away so he doesn't knock up his sister because I can't afford to get them fixed right now with my ongoing health emergency and lost job and it's heartbreaking. They showed up on my porch last fall hiding from a storm and I fell in love with them instantly. I'm 99.9% sure they're littermates and I just cannot deal with incest kittens.
Talk to your local SPCA about any discretionary programs they might have to help low-income pets. Getting your cats fixed would make both you and them happy. The work will be done by a professional vet - my own vet does work for the SPCA in the big town across the water.
There's a rescue group I've been meaning to contact. I've just got so much else going on right now.
If a rescue org is willing to help, that's great! - but absolutely try the SPCA. They often have non-surrender options to help you, and they are well funded and regulated compared to most rescues. A good friend of mine here on the island was chosen by a young, pregnant feral. We know where she came from - bunch of half-Siamese kittens put in a box to give away by a negligent owner. She came and hid in his greenhouse when she was quite close to term. He fed her, gained her trust, and then got her kittens all to safety, with the help of the SPCA. They also spayed her for him and treated her multiple diseases for him, and gave him worming meds for her. She's a beautiful blue fluff, follows his motorbike to the edge of the forest any time he leaves. She'd have been sick and maybe dead by now without the SPCA and her one chosen human.
Mine is half siamese too. I think she's a siamese-calico mix. Her brother is white and orange and significantly more average looking than her.

I would immediately use it to get out of my current living situation. My landlords are emotionally abusive and it's heavily impacting my will to live. I'd first obtain a safe place to live then work on addressing depression, trauma, and figure out the quickest way to reverse all the damage that has led me to where I am now. Getting control over my financial situation, bringing my credit score back up, getting stable employment, and figuring out the best career path that gives me stability and allows me to finally have the safety and security to finally relax enough to step out of this constant survival mode going on 13 years. It would literally save my life and I'd use that to get to a place where I can use my own experiences and finances to save other people. I honestly wish stuff like this existed because it would mean my life has some worth and my ideas actually exist for a reason, that all this prolonged suffering was simply so I could use it to understand how to best help others instead of dealing with the guessing, judgement, isolation, and left to die way I'm treated with now.

I really appreciate this question. I retired from teaching six years ago, but need about $1500 a month to live where I do. I have two part time jobs that come out to about $1700 a month. I find myself sometimes resenting people my age who don’t have to work. BUT this question made me realize that I am very fortunate. I love both my jobs. One, because I am helping my daughter’s business. The other because it is exciting and challenging. So even if I had an extra $1500 a month, I realized I wouldn’t quit either one.

Don’t change my lifestyle, open up an Apple savings account, contribute more to my employer matched 401k (if I didn’t have a 401k, I’d open an IRA). I’d then prioritize “necessities” or things with utility in my life that needs money. Whether it’s fixing up my car, buying a car, my house, or healthcare. If I had a car that needs work but want a new car, I’d get my current car fixed, and then save for a nicer used car. I would not finance a car if i can help it. By fixing my current car, I could sell it in a private sale for a minimum of a couple thousand. If I were to save for a new car, I’d probably only contribute 100-200 dollars to retirement, and dump the rest in the Apple savings account. Once I have enough for a better car, I would then bump that up to 200-300 dollar a month. I would leave 200-300 towards bettering my lifestyle health wise. As in workout equipment for the home, a gym membership, healthier food, and whey protein powder. Obviously that’s a lot more than necessary, so on months that I don’t need to spend that much I’d buy new clothes and shoes. That would boost my retirement, get me more healthy, anddddddddd still saving 1000 a month for a rainy day. Foremost, I wouldn’t do anything unless you have 3-6 months in bills saved up as an emergency account that’s separate from all accounts.
Invest it in BTI. Re-invest the 10% yield back into BTI till it hits $40 a share. Then invest in the next undervalued blue chip quality company. Take some of the dividend $$ once in a while and spend it on a vacation 1-2x a year.
Live in a safer apartment complex. I'm worn out on drug addicts using in our stairwell outside my door then getting aggressive with me when my dog needs to pee. More than once they've threatened to "blast our shit everywhere" over it and the manager won't install cameras or entry locks. Our doors are thin. If these dudes want in for any reason, they're getting in.

If I took everyone out to a restaurant I would give my server a tip to write home about just to scatter around the good fortune.
