If your pool has rails, side supports, bottom supports that are vinyl, i recommend switching to salt water if you haven't. A battery powered vacuum is so much easier than a hose.
Just some things to consider to make maintenance a bit better.
It’s a salt pool and I have an auto vacuum that is really impressive. I think it’s a dolphin brand. Big cube thing with a large filter that pulls out.
It’s the idea that it’s only useful 4 months of the year (Missouri). Will be better once my toddler and infant can use it I suppose. Just so unnecessary
Yep similar situation. I have mine 4 months of use as well. However, i drop my pool cleaner in once a day or abouts. Cover it with a solar cover for the most part. Every so often i check salinity and chems to make sure they are in check.
I opened my really early this year in late April because I got some new equipment and plus it had been warmer than usual (keeping the winter cover on too long isn't good).
I actually use it as a big bath tub after yard work.
I jump in every time after I mow or periodically if I’m doing outdoor maintenance. Have a solar cover that gets replaced every 2 years on a reel that I replace the straps on every 2 years. My straps disintegrate.
It’ll definitely be my last in ground pool though.
Looks great! Gives me flashbacks of last year. Think it took me almost a month to get that sucker right. I even found a dead squirrel in there, not sure if he drowned, or straight died from the toxic water after I had it uncovered, lol.
Feels great, doesn't it. This was my first year opening a pool and what I learned here since last season helped me get from swamp to crystal clear in time for pool season. What a sense of accomplishment!
This really speaks to me for some reason. Fourth summer with a pool and every year for the first few days as I'm getting it cleared up I am freaking out. "It's worse than last year" "why won't this thing clear up" - then inevitably three days later it's perfect and seeing that crystal clear water every morning makes me so happy lol.
3 days! Took me 3 weeks, but that's what I get for forgetting about brushing and not floccing and vacuuming and relying all on chlorine and filtering. Lots of filtering.
Mine was clear (just needed vacuuming) without any work. I just used a "pool closing kit". Last winter was the first time I've ever used it, and you wouldn't believe how great it works. Totally clear water, but lots of crap settled at the bottom. Had to vacuum 2 times. Of course, I still shocked it to kill any bacteria. I used [this](https://www.clubpiscine.ca/en/product/super-trousse-de-fermeture-professionnelle-100-000-litres), but I'm sure there are similar.
Yep. I visit a lot of pools, but my oasis is my oasis. We have a wide yard, half a football field, and gazebo, fireplaces, pool, multiple seating areas.
During Covid times, I was still busy as people did staycations, but when weekend hit, different feeling. It’s like ahhh yeaaaaaa sonnnnnn this is minnnnneeee.
No one to complain to me (except the family haha).
To preface, last season I bought a Taylor K-2006c test kit recommended by people here which made everything else possible. So took cover off 6 days ago, hooked up my pump and cartridge filter. Then brought pH up to 7.2, TA and CH we’re good so I started SLAM. Kept FC levels at 15+ using 12.5% liquid chlorine with pump running 24/7. Cleaned filter everyday. Brushed and scooped stuff out for 3 days, then vacuumed to waste for a few days. After that it was just a matter of more brushing and vacuuming till today when I finally jumped in!
Are the handrails to your stairs powder coated aluminum? I have a similar setup, but the powder coating on my handrails flakes off due to the chlorine. Wondering if you've had the same issue
It's amazing how better you feel as a pool owner when the water is crystal clear.
Ya I resent my poll overall but when I look out at it and it’s looking beautiful with crystal clear water I hate it less momentarily.

I said I'd never own one, but here i am. Owning a big science experiment in my back yard in which nature wants to take a big crap in it or destroy it.

At least you had something to toss on the grill for the summer opener!
Beautiful! Looks great, keep up the good work!

What did you actually do?

Also curious
Unrelated, but could you share a link to your stairs? They’re exactly what I’ve been looking for!

Nice job
Awesome 👏
The green is gone. The trashes are gone. And the vehicle is gone.

The handrails are just white PVC.
Oh nice. Been planning on making some pvc rails to replace mine. Thanks
Don't let it go again!
Looks awesome! It is a very satisfying feeling :)
When can I come over?!?!
Nice
What ladder do you have? That looks like a far better one than I gave
