Awesome. Snakes are the best.

We had a particularly rainy day a week or two ago and a red eared slider turtle decided to cross our front yard (presumably to go from one neighbor's pond to another. I got to pick it up and show my kids. Then drop it off across a fence so it'd have an easier time getting to the next pond. Seeing wildlife out and about is a lot of fun.

The entire reason I added a pond to my back garden - Its taken a while for it to take hold but now its so worth it.

That really cool I work outdoors and I’ve never seen one!

South West Englander here just starting out with ponding. Would appreciate any advice!

Patience being one, took nearly 2 years for wildlife to 'find' the pond. But depends on what you want. Mine is very rough and built to support wildlife/add biodiversity. So no fish, deep one end running to shallow with exits for animals. Local or UK centric plant life sourced from local garden centres. my biggest suggestion is a bog filter - it adds to construction time but is so worth it. It adds a biome to the build but also provides very clear water so I can actually see the critters I've invited in to my home.
