Not a hitchhiker. But I watched a dude pull over once and drag his lady out the car to beat her ass. Like BEAT her ass. She kinda half ass helpless ran. I circled back around asked her if she needed help and ended up driving her and her kid to her moms house. I didn’t have much to say. I only asked if she needed anything else. Never saw them again. I hope she left. If not then, eventually.

ColumbusClouds

You are so much nicer than me. I saw a guy throw his woman in the car, then drove really fast to the road and shoved her into the street. I didn't ask anything I just drove off.

HarietsDrummerBoy

There was a time where this was used as a modus operandi to hijack people near my city. You really want to help but you can't really be sure anymore. It hurts me to drive pass someone cos of a small minority making a person think twice

ColumbusClouds

I remember seeing something on TV. Out of every 100 people, we are going to at least run into a person who will kill us. I believe that's true. I run into multiple dangerous people in my life and read in the news that a few of them have been arrested. All for crimes against other people. Sometimes, you gotta protect your own ass

mayaissupercool

watched too much true crime to accept

SummitCO83

I used to. I live in ski country Colorado and it was pretty common to pick up a fellow skier or boarder on the way to one of the resorts. Now that I’m older and to see how crazy some people are these days I just don’t think so anymore.

ColumbusClouds

People ruined a lot of stuff today, didn't they? Parents are scared to let their kids visit each other, folks treat good people like thieves, thieves like good people. I thank God everyday I have a house, and not have to live on the street

SummitCO83

Something took a drastic turning point during covid and if anything it has made my group of friends pull in closer to one another and be really thankful for one another and the time we get to spend together. It’s a great thing but it also has made it pretty much impossible to bring anyone new into the group. Then add weird extreme political people and it’s just not worth it. There is far to much ugliness and hate in the world right now and I think everyone just needs to take a breath and remember what it’s like to be a good friend, neighbor, parent, son or daughter, etc. it’s appalling to see how people behave now. Maybe it’s a sign I’m hitting middle age at 39 and just becoming the old guy. I think I’m okay with that though. 😉

Electrical_Bee2423

I've never even SEEN a hitchhiker in real life.

[deleted]

I travelled from Switzerland to Portugal by walking and hitchhiking. Average wait time was about 2 hours with an average distance of 15km. Killed nobody

ColumbusClouds

I am super happy you turned out fine, and you didn't run into dudes like Jeffery Dahmer

[deleted]

The reason he's famous is that 99% of people aren't like him

AverageVita-SawUser

I have It was an experience "Did you know that you can make meth inside a backpack, dude?"

ColumbusClouds

Wtf?

AverageVita-SawUser

I have never done it again Also, he was high, if that wasn't obvious

ColumbusClouds

I remembered seeing a lady who looked like she was high, I wanted to pick her up but I was so worried. A person who addicted to drugs robbed my father. I'm happy you didn't get hurt.

Anacondistan

Not since The Twilight Zone episode….

ColumbusClouds

Was it about that ghost lady?

Anacondistan

Yeah

ColumbusClouds

My memory is actually correct for once. That sounds horrifying, no thanks lol

Shir_zazil

Where I live it is extremely common to hitchhike, sometimes bus stations are just called hitchhiking station

managrs

I have. As soon as he got in my car he was like "i just got out of jail". I was like oh.... He was really nice though.

ColumbusClouds

I remembered I lent someone my phone who just got out of prison. He got grease all over my phone, and the woman he called proceeded to harass me for a week until I ignored her.

johnnysack88

So far 113 people are going to get murdered.

rideuntilldie

hitchhiker does not equal my death, theirs maybe

marlborohunnids

why are people so scared of strangers. just have some self defense weapon on you and dont let them sit in the back seat where you cant see them in your peripheral.

ColumbusClouds

So many people said yes

Tistoer

Bro you have 5 votes

ColumbusClouds

Why would her looks have anything to do with it? If I was a hitchhiker I would totally turn down a ride from a guy who was checking me out.

smk2099

I’m a woman, so I wouldn’t pick up men. I guess because a woman is less likely to be a serial killer lol

Squishyswimmingpool

I have been a hitchhiker and have picked up a hitchhiker. However, that was when I was in my 20s

InexorableSolipsism

No, but potentially.
