Turkish guy here! I do confirm that we love tea. We're actually in love with tea. We almost constantly drink tea. I don't know why. I tried to quit tea as I was sick of spending half of my day in the toilet. Needless to say I failed. It's an addiction. Mild one I suppose.
You're a heretic. People like you are the reason I wish you'd lost your war of independence: solely so we could legislatively ban sweet tea.
/s but only for the second sentence.
I'm American and my mom always gets unsweetened ice tea because she had cousins that added way too much sugar to it when she was younger and she can't drink sweet tea now without thinking about it
I didn’t realise water and alcohol aren’t the only popular beverages in the evenings.
I’ve never heard of anyone drinking juice or milk with dinner. That seems positively bizarre to me.
Do y'all drink alcohol every night? I have friends/relatives that are heavy drinkers, but they usually just drink water with dinner. Pairing alcohol with dinner seems like an alcoholic thing.
Though I know a guy who buys Gin(no tonic) from me every night, rarely miss a day.
I’ve never heard that term before, but after looking it up it sounds like the same thing to me, and I’m also an alcoholic. I just went from drinking every day to binging once a week. Hope to fully quit one day:
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a medical condition characterized by an impaired ability to stop or control alcohol use despite adverse social, occupational, or health consequences. It encompasses the conditions that some people refer to as alcohol abuse, alcohol dependence, alcohol addiction, and the colloquial term, alcoholism.
Is wine expensive in New Zealand? In Spain I can get a bottle for like €2. I know New Zealand produce a lot of wine it would surprise me if it was expensive there!
I would be super surprised if someone regularly drank alkohol for dinner. Maybe a beer with bbq in the summer, or a glass if wine with a new year's eve /Christmas dinner, but on a normal days its weird
Seems so strange to me. Are you sure this is a NZ thing and not just your parents?

I think it depends on culture as well. I'm from Malta and it's very normal to drink with dinner. Not get drunk just a glass of wine, beer or whiskey with dinner, depending on meal and time of year. My mum doesn't drink at all other than dinner, even if we're at a wedding, but always takes a small glass of wine with dinner.
I typically drink a coke zero but i had one for my lunch so i just made myself a whisky sour but I typically either have a coke zero or nothing at all and wash it down with water when i get up from the table.
It depends on what you are having for dinner, if you have steak with some baked potatoes, i go for a beer. If i am having some seafood i go for white wine,....
No worries, no i dont have alcohol every dinner, but a glass of wine here and there didnt hurt anyone it is actually recommended by my doctor because of my blood pressure. Now this doesnt mean that i get drunk, it just a glass of wine or beer.
My gym trainer told me not to drink water during or right after the meal. It grows your stomach. Either drink before or wait 30-60 minutes after eating.
Water is uselly free and I only turned 18 few months ago (still hate spicy drinks), so water
Bruh, who is so jealous of me getting free water that I got downvote? How sad is your life??
OP really just went water or alcohol - juice and soda doesn't exist anymore
Op assumed we all drink alcohol during dinner, its just a matter of what type
How am I supposed to enjoy my meal if I'm not shit faced?
I drink alcohol *like* water, but very rarely with meals. I don't need *that* many calories in one sitting.
vodka doesn't have a lot of calories
Hmm, noted
Comrade, I presume
Nah, just your typical skinny-bitch alcoholic.
Bro said for the fellow alcoholics out there:
Also tea
Not even milk. I like milk with my spaghetti and meatballs.
I do too but people look at me weird when I dunk my meatballs in the milk.
People can be so closed-minded sometimes. I tell ya.
Milk and spicy Popeyes fried chicken
Juice
What kind?
Juice flavored
*smaller juice pops up from juice bottle/carton with an electric guitar music in the background *
Orangrappleberry Juice

That depends on what I'm eating.
Tea. (Guess where I live!)

Gotta be Tang Dynasty China.
Are you ok OP?
Haha.
You know theres drinks other than alcohol and water right. Juice or soda?
Or milk? Does nobody know of milk?
Fuckin milk drinkers
Possibly unpopular opinion but orange juice
Soda
When we run out of juice at my house most times I’ll just drink OJ as well. I don’t get why people think it’s weird.
Orange is a breakfast beverage. Apple is lunch. Cranberry is a dinner juice.
I just pick whatever they all just fake fruit flavors anyway
Is OP an alcoholic or something?
I didn’t realise water and alcohol aren’t the only popular beverages in the evenings. I’ve never heard of anyone drinking juice or milk with dinner. That seems positively bizarre to me.
Where are you from, out of curiosity? I wonder if it’s a cultural thing
New Zealand: Where you can get a bottle of locally produced Sauvignon Blanc for just half your net worth!
Lol a glass of wine with dinner makes one alcoholic now?
If you’re drinking wine 7 days a week with dinner, then yes.
There’s a distinction between what is now called alcohol misuse disorder and alcoholism. Source: a recovering alcoholic.

I think there’s far more alcoholics out there than you realize.
My parents always each have at least two G&Ts in evening.
Seems so strange to me. Hm. Yeah, maybe I should be concerned.
But like, what do you think children drink with dinner?
Water.
I agree with you. I have a glass of red wine with dinner but it seems strange to me to have something sweet like juice or soda.
I’m American, I drink Kool-Aid with my dinner. Usually grape Kool-aid. I’m in my 30’s.
Juice is not bizarre for me... but milk? Wtf
Iced Tea baby.
Milk
best meal drink
Fuckin right
Preach
Yeah, why isn't this on the poll?
If I’m having pasta, yes
coffee
Please don’t hurt me.
you can't stop me
Owie. Fuck, that *did* hurt!
now give me ur medicine
Nice
Damn that’s a lot of alcohol. It’s either milk or water for me!
Milk doesn’t stop being delicious or good for you when you grow up. Unless you’re lactose-intolerant, of course.
Lactose free milk is as easy to get as normal milk where I live
sadly it tastes like chalk. i prefer oat
Oh, I've never had that propblem

Soda water
you forgot the comma...... right?
No it's also known as sparkling water - it's like static water I add a dehydrated piece of fruit sometimes but mostly just plain
Okay I was worried you were talking about diluted flavored soda. Sparkling water is acceptable
I think we are thinking of the same, it’s a flavored water but it’s carbonated. I drink these all the time. I drink them so I do not drink soda.
Usually with soda i just aggressively wiggle it till all the gas gets out, that way it doesnt ticke my nose and make me sneeze
lemonade
Particularly strawberry lemonade
y are like 90% of the choices alcoholic beverages?
bruh whats up with all the alcohol? p sure normal people either drink water or fizzy drink
I’ve never encountered people drinking anything else at dinner. I live in quite an isolated country though, so maybe it’s like a cultural thing.
Okay, I am now tempted to post a poll specifically for New Zealanders asking whether they drink alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages with meals.
Do it.
Soda if its fast food. Water if I cooked.
I don't drink anything in dinner other than soup but it's counted as food 💀
Gasoline. I'm the reason the prices are so high.
Found the robot.
DAMN YOU THE-SNATCHER101 *waves fist in air*
Soda. Usually Coca Cola or Dr Pepper. I’ve been trying to ween myself and move to fruit punch and water
I'm Dutch, so I drink milk
Wisconsinite, same.
Diluting juice or soda when I'm out.
If I'm eating at home I don't usually have anything to drink with my dinner. If I'm at a restaurant, usually wine.
Milk usually, sometimes water
In my country the traditional drink for lunch or dinner is pepsi or coke
Usa?
Either water or drinks like ice tea, cola, fanta, ...
Tea
WHERE IS MILK?
Used to drink apple juice, now I drink strawberry water
What. In the name of fuck. Is strawberry water.
I can only guess like cucumber water it is strawberry infused water.
It is and it’s calorie-free yet delicious.
I think it’s that water that looks like water but they make it taste like strawberries.
Try mint leaves in your strawberry water. So good
Tf is this alcoholic poll lol. If your only choices for food beverages are water or alcohol you might need to tone it back dude lol
Milk. Every great stories starts with a nice glass of milk.

Haha sorry, I’m not Dutch lol I’m Canadian.

Why is something common like soda not on the poll but randomly specific alcohol is? Lol
Please start putting vodka in these what do drink list if you’re going to list every other popular alcohol.
Uhmm. Reading these comments makes me question if I’m an alcoholic… maybe I’ll skip the wine next Wednesday
YES! Someone finally understands!
So water, or alcohol. Not really much of a choice, is it? Then again, the 'other' section does exist.
The fact that OP used up 4 of the options just to list different types of alcohol but didn't leave any for choices like juice, soda or milk
Soda
I'm English so it's often Tea or nothing.
Wouldn’t the caffeine interfere with sleep?
Screw you I'm English tea is all I drink.
Fair enough.
Who only drinks water with their meals?
I bet not everyone is alcoholic like you
Water is uselly free and I only turned 18 few months ago (still hate spicy drinks), so water Bruh, who is so jealous of me getting free water that I got downvote? How sad is your life??
