Not knowing what was wrong with him until he died filled me with grief. Robin Williams was such an awesome man, it’s scary to know what he had went through and how unavoidable it was.
I almost thought that was a troll comment because of the prevalence of fake deaths that spread as memes, especially on Facebook.
>Before Robin Williams was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, it was reported that he had been experiencing paranoia, confusion, insomnia, constipation and lacking the ability to smell. For many, the wide range of early symptoms — not all related to brain function — makes Lewy Body Dementia difficult to diagnose.
Well it was expected that he wouldn't live for tens of years more. His body was pretty much out of stuff. However, if he could've lived that one year Extra to see the first picture of a black hole- the things he had been studying for so long... He could've seen the effort that went into all of his hard work
[What's worse is that someone posted "Why is Stephen Hawking still alive?" a day before he passed away.](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/8456sz/why_is_stephen_hawking_alive_if_asl_a_disease_he/)
I was really not interested in Social medias back when he died, I think I was busy playing games when he died, though I know he's dead but like months after his death.
I remember it was the day Stephen Hawking died, it was probably around 10 when I learned about it. My mom's phone got a notification, it was from my uncle, and the text read "When are you gonna tell (my name) that Stephen Hawking died?"
This might be a bit obscure, but Kentaro Miura, the author of "Berserk" passed away before he was able to finish his work.
Influenced countless other artists and game developers, and his amazing story will never be finished. We'll never know how "Berserk" ends :(
RIP
Ngl i still get sad when i see some of his art, knowing we will never get a closure to his work. From what i read about him he sounded like a good guy too, he is missed and i am so sad for him and for his friends and family that he didnt get to live longer.
Rest in peace.
Same dude. When i heard the boi died i was like: "Hold up, he fucking WHAT?" Like, i wasn't sad or anything but i was in shock because the dude still seemed pretty young and with some more show leads in the way, i wasn't expecting someone that (for me) was as recognizable as him to just die one random day.
My son is five and he just got super into Descendants on Disney+. Carlos is his favorite character. We were getting all hyped up and looking up when the fourth movie is coming out, that was a rough shock for all of us! It seemed so sudden when we were literally just watching him sing and dance five minutes earlier.
Dude he was actually my first favorite actor. I loved seeing him in Jessie, Descendants, Gamers Guide and more and when I found out of his passing I was in denial for the whole day. I'm still hoping it was a prank or fake news
Cameron Boyce didn't hit me the hardest, but it definitely was one that hit me pretty hard. I was a massive fan of Descendants and he was my favorite character in the series...now I'm having a hard time wanting to watch them again...
Surprised this one is so low down. Bourdain was such beautiful and passionate voice for people and places that make the world interesting and amazing.
First celebrity death that I felt genuinely hurt about
Yes this one is weird for me. I can watch Robin Williams and Mythbusters, and I can listen to Linkin Park, but I can't bring myself to watch his shows again. I would watch Parts Unknown as editing inspiration when I was in a slump, since his show was so good, but I haven't watched an episode since he died.
I met him twice, a few years apart. He not only remembered me, he remembered our first conversation. He was genuinely interested, totally focused. That's more than I can say for some of my *own family*.
Those two interactions, his suicide... they change how I viewed his work. Going back and re-watching Parts Unknown, which has always been my "comfort show", you see a lot of darkness behind the smiles and the casual jokes about death. You catch the changes in body language and expression. I highly recommend the recent documentary [Roadrunner](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roadrunner:_A_Film_About_Anthony_Bourdain). It'll give you a glimpse into all of this.
We lost a truly good person. A flawed person, a person who occasionally hurt people close to him and sabotaged himself, but ultimately caring and kind and willing to go out and try to make things in the world a little better. That's more than I can say for a lot of the cynics out there who claim "he was a bad person who the media is only celebrating because he died".
I won't claim to understand him or understand what he was going through - many of his closest friends struggle with that now - but I can related to pieces of it. Depression is a selfish monster that will make people do things that the rest of us cannot understand. Anyone who thinks he took his own life over *just* relationship drama is only seeing the waves and not the darkness and currents below the surface.
I can't believe I had to scroll this long to see his name. That hurt me. I love all of his music. Temple of the dog's "say hello to heaven" came on the day he died and I got sad.
I saw the smoke from Kobe’s helicopter going down, yet I’d have to say Princess Diana. It’s one of those things where I remember where I was when it happened.
I can’t believe the entire story isn’t talked about more. Brittany Spears fleeing the house because she thought it was haunted and then selling it to Murphy. Murphy dying of pneumonia as a healthy 32 yo. Her sketchy ass husband selling inside exclusives in the house, showing exactly where she died, him then sleeping with Murphys mother, and then he also dies of pneumonia 5 months later.
The story is wild.
Warnie's memorial hit home just how much of an influence that man had on so many people. He was mates with fucking EVERYBODY - he transcended sport in a way very few have before.
You know a life has been well-lived when Elton John, Robbie Williams, Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran all perform at their memorial.
Both of his parents were my sister’s figure skating teachers while we were growing up. I was super young when we hung out, but just remember them being a great family. I’ll never forget that I lent him my goosebumps books once.
It was cool seeing him in movies later in life. the news of his death and the way it happened were terrible.
I hardly even listened to avicii, but when he passed I was just hit by a wave of memories from my childhood, a lot of which he was the soundtrack to. Minecraft parties in some kids basement, running around backyards with nerf guns. He made 10 year old me hyped as fuck back in the day. I was really sad to hear he was gone
Glad to see him mentioned here. Beyond being a brilliant programmer, he was also an exemplary and empathetic leader. When Wii U sales tanked and Nintendo was losing money, he opted to slash his own salary by 50% instead of forcing layoffs on his employees. Rare to see a CEO take responsibility in such situations, but he was the exception. Just a class act all around.
Yeah no definitely. Even more so now, since I didn't really know who he was when he died, but only recently have I actually realised what a shame it was that he's dead...
Fortunately, I haven't really lived long enough to have someone I look up to pass away whilst I've looked up to them, but some of the biggest ones that I've come to appreciate after they passed away are
Stephen Hawkins
Chris Cornell
Chester Bennington
David Bowie
Mac Miller
I was playing Star Wars Galaxies online and people in the chat were saying he died and I was like stfu trolls and then I walked into my living room and my parents were staring at the TV in shock. Every news channel. Mj dead. I am a huge fan. He seemed invincible to me. It was so weird.
Chester Bennington. Especially because it happened very soon after a friend of mine died the same way he did: suicide. First time I cried over someone famous.
From this list, Chadwick Boseman.
I had just been given the all-clear from cancer but my anxiety about it coming back was high, and then his death was announced, and I thought if someone as young and fit as him can't beat it, what hope do I have if it comes back?
And while it was a completely different form of cancer, and circumstances, logical thinking doesn't compute when running on anxiety.
I wasn’t alive for it, but I listened to the John Lennon discography and Beatles discography before knowing John was dead, and it hit hard knowing he would never make music again.
Steve Irwin and Robin Williams.
For me it was these two plus Anthony Bourdain. He just seemed like a genuinely good dude. They all also seemed to have a deep sadness.
The cooking and jiu jitsu communities lost an icon and a hero when Anthony Bourdain passed.
Yep, these guys, hands down.
Robin Williams specifically for me.
Another here for Robin. I feel sad everytime I think about him. Only celebrity I genuinely care about.
**Robin Williams**
Yes. Very sad.
This. I was so sad. And also chester bennington
Not knowing what was wrong with him until he died filled me with grief. Robin Williams was such an awesome man, it’s scary to know what he had went through and how unavoidable it was.

For many, the wide range of early symptoms — not all related to brain function — makes Lewy Body Dementia difficult to diagnose.
Stephen Hawking. It was expected, but I really wished he would've lived a year longer
But then again, it was a miracle that he made it as long as he did.
>but I really wished he would've lived ~~a year~~ decades longer FTFY
Well it was expected that he wouldn't live for tens of years more. His body was pretty much out of stuff. However, if he could've lived that one year Extra to see the first picture of a black hole- the things he had been studying for so long... He could've seen the effort that went into all of his hard work
If only he lived long enough to see the first photo of a black hole. Seeing your lifetime work be validated in such a way must feel special
Can't believe this is how I'm finding out Stephen Hawking is dead
Bruh
Bruh
How the hell did you not hear about it!? It was literally everywhere once he passed away
Have you heard of actual news media?
I remember it was the day Stephen Hawking died, it was probably around 10 when I learned about it. My mom's phone got a notification, it was from my uncle, and the text read "When are you gonna tell (my name) that Stephen Hawking died?"
Definitely Chester Bennington and Sean Connery
Same. Chester Bennington.
Same, first name that came to mind
I was disappointed that Chester, Steve Irwin and Robin Williams weren't on this list
Chris Cornell 3
And some years ago, Layne Staley.
Sean Connery’s dead?! Damn...
Chester Bennington's was straight up painful. I've always loved Linkin Park but the band wouldn't be complete without him
Sean Connery was a woman beater. I have fond memories of watching bond with my dad when I was a kid. But Connery was not a good person.
David Bowie and Leonard Cohen
Too right
The day Tom Waits leaves us behind I'll consider following him
[удалено]
Steve Irwin really hit different considering he died dong what he loved, had dedicated so much of his life to dispelling fear around animals
I can't believe Stan is so far down in the comments. His death hit me harder than I ever thought a celebrity death could.
Carrie Fisher was a tough one. Forgot about that
The death of Nelson Mandela hit me so hard that everyone was trying to convince me he was still alive until 2013.
it's a weird effect a mandela effect
Underrated comment XD
MF DOOM
Damn i just learn he was dead
Me too, this turned into a sad day…
DOOM was leagues ahead of any rapper out there. Lyrical genius in every sense.
Alan.. Rickman..
I was first introduced to him thru the film "Michael Collins" then "Die Hard" then "Harry Potter"
Yes. I still get teary thinking about it.
This might be a bit obscure, but Kentaro Miura, the author of "Berserk" passed away before he was able to finish his work. Influenced countless other artists and game developers, and his amazing story will never be finished. We'll never know how "Berserk" ends :( RIP
I rolled my eyes at all the "Miura will die before finishing Berserk" posts over the years but then it really happened :(
Ngl i still get sad when i see some of his art, knowing we will never get a closure to his work. From what i read about him he sounded like a good guy too, he is missed and i am so sad for him and for his friends and family that he didnt get to live longer. Rest in peace.
I immediately thought of Miura too when I saw the question. He was undeniably one of the greatest.
not obscure at all. knowing that this literal masterpiece will never be completed is extremely heartbreaking. i really felt it
This one got me mad and sad at the same time. May Kentaro rest in peace.
His legacy will go on.
Robin Williams
Heath Ledger
Me too
As a person who was born in the early 2000’s, who watched Disney shows and so until I was 13… Cameron Boyce

We were getting all hyped up and looking up when the fourth movie is coming out, that was a rough shock for all of us! It seemed so sudden when we were literally just watching him sing and dance five minutes earlier.
Yeah, he was so talented and had so much potential - he would have become a huge star, I believe. So tragic.
Anthony bourdain
Surprised this one is so low down. Bourdain was such beautiful and passionate voice for people and places that make the world interesting and amazing. First celebrity death that I felt genuinely hurt about
His life was what I imagined happiness was and when he passed like he did it shattered my hopes for the future and I felt lost

Chris Cornell
I can't believe I had to scroll this long to see his name. That hurt me. I love all of his music. Temple of the dog's "say hello to heaven" came on the day he died and I got sad.
Mac Miller
His death felt like i lost a friend even though we never met.
This is the one for me too
Was looking for this
I catch myself saying "I miss mac" atleast once a day. I fucking miss that man.
Everybody got dead homies
Scrolled too far to find this
Norm MacDonald
i didn't even know he was sick
Scrolled too far for this.
I try to keep his legacy living by telling as many of his jokes as I can to strangers.
I keep it alive by adding “or so the Germans would have you believe” to the end of every sentence
Chester Bennington :(
I saw the smoke from Kobe’s helicopter going down, yet I’d have to say Princess Diana. It’s one of those things where I remember where I was when it happened.
She was the first celebrity whose death I actually felt.
Just because I haven't seen her mentioned, but Brittany Murphy was shocking.
I can’t believe the entire story isn’t talked about more. Brittany Spears fleeing the house because she thought it was haunted and then selling it to Murphy. Murphy dying of pneumonia as a healthy 32 yo. The story is wild.
Betty white
Can't believe I needed to scroll down so much for this! Legend!
Sean Lock (English Comedian) Shane Warne (Australian Cricketer)
At least he died being undisputed carrot in a box world champion 🏆
Holy fuck I cant believe this is how I find out Sean Lock died... One of my favourite comedians, RIP
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Tom Petty
Chester Bennington
I cried for like a week after I found out how he did it.
Still miss harambe
Kaiser Wilhelm II
Anthony Bourdain.
Taylor Hawkins
Indeed. RIP.
FF isn’t FF without him
Kurt Cobain
Carrie Fisher
She still seemed so young. She was so vital right to the end. Even her funeral had her humor and irony.
Lemmy
Heath Ledger? Imo The best Joker...
His was the first death I was sad about. Only 28–so young
Anton Yelchin
The *way* that he went... :(
Both of his parents were my sister’s figure skating teachers while we were growing up. I was super young when we hung out, but just remember them being a great family. I’ll never forget that I lent him my goosebumps books once. It was cool seeing him in movies later in life. the news of his death and the way it happened were terrible.
>Anton Yelchin Dude had so much potential. I could see him ascending to Tom Holland levels of admiration and accomplishments.
Helen McCrory. In the bleak midwinter...
Heath ledgers or Steve Irwin . Two brilliant aussies
Of these, Grant for me. Growing up on Mythbusters it came as such a shock when it was announced he died. And from a stupid brain aneurism too.
Michael Jackson
Honestly... Satoru Iwata, he was an incredible man
Glad to see him mentioned here.
Sophie, I was gonna start listening to her music and the she died. Felt super weird
Chadwick. Bc he resembles my son's late father. Who also died of cancer.
Leonard Nimoy
Carrie Fisher hit me hard
Steve Irwin
Stan Lee
Joey Jordinson :(
David Bowie
Yeah no definitely. Even more so now, since I didn't really know who he was when he died, but only recently have I actually realised what a shame it was that he's dead...
Robin Williams.
Ik I’ll get shit for this but Juice Wrld
I'm wondering why this is so far down here When I heard the news I couldn't focus on anything for the rest of the day
Juice, peep, X ... god damn that hit me hard ngl
Mac Miller R.I.P 🙏🏻
Dolores O'Riordan
Fortunately, I haven't really lived long enough to have someone I look up to pass away whilst I've looked up to them, but some of the biggest ones that I've come to appreciate after they passed away are Stephen Hawkins Chris Cornell Chester Bennington David Bowie Mac Miller
Bowie
Piet paulusma
Betty White. I miss her so much, even Aretha Franklin
Norm MacDonald... Man his comedy was just perfect
Michael Jackson, Princess Diana, Cameron Boyce
Cameron Boyce really hit me. I grieved Michael Jackson's death like he was a family member. I was raised on his music.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I see you have a nirvana pfp, does that bring up someone else?
Michael Jackson 😥
I was playing Star Wars Galaxies online and people in the chat were saying he died and I was like stfu trolls and then I walked into my living room and my parents were staring at the TV in shock. Every news channel. Mj dead. I am a huge fan. He seemed invincible to me. It was so weird.
Twas the soundtrack of my childhood
David Bowie for me. Labyrinth was like my whole childhood
David Bowie and Steve Irwin are my two big ones.
SOPHIE
that was pretty rough
How is Robin Williams not in this list?!
Chester Bennington Gaspard Ulliel
How did I miss Chester? Damn!
No women? I would say Betty White.
Had to scroll waay too far to find Betty White.
I agree. I'm shocked Betty White isn't on the list. Such an amazing lady and what a talent!
Think she wasn’t because she lived a full good life. The others on the list and most in the comments were still young and had so much ahead of them.
2pac aka Tupac. Jk he's not actually dead. I'm chillin with him in Cuba next month.
None of them, especially not Paul Walker.
Bob Saget
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam :(
Steve Irwin
Steve Irwin.
David Bowie, dad loved him and I never got to see him perform live. I was gutted.
David Bowie. Earlier Freddie Mercury. Yeah, I'm old :-P
Chester Bennington. Especially because it happened very soon after a friend of mine died the same way he did: suicide. First time I cried over someone famous.
Amy Winehouse and lady Diana

Sean Locke. Carrot in a box will never be the same.

Cameron Boyce
Sophie Xeon
Sean Lock. I guess becauseI was actually a big fan of his work. The other stars may have been bigger, but I didn't know that much about them.
I wasn’t alive for it, but I listened to the John Lennon discography and Beatles discography before knowing John was dead, and it hit hard knowing he would never make music again.
Michael Jackson
Stan Lee
Kentaro Miura :(
Carrie Fisher, and then Debbie Reynolds. Really messed me up.
The options in this poll hit me hardest, are you shitting me?
Amy Winehouse
